I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My problem consists of the following: - When I turn on the computer the mouse pointer behaves correctly.- After a few minutes of use, when I give the order to open a web in chrome (for example) the image of the pointer starts to look less sharp, but still works correctly.- The biggest problem comes a few minutes later when it starts to move each time it is loading something, and it starts to appear and disappear. Then using the PC is a nightmare.  I have updated all the drivers and I have even made a complete format but the problem continues.Any solution or someone who has the same problem?I'm desperate. Thank you

Hello people of the Forum. I have a new Ideapad 710s Plus - it is the one with just one USB-C connector labeled "DisplayPort". I am now looking to buy an adapter. I am looking forward those that have a hdmi output and usb 3.0 ports as well but I am unsure about compatability. The other option would be to get a single USB-C to displayport cable. Also in this case I am unsure about compatability. Does anyone knows a solution that works for sure?

This problem just popped up on both my win 7 machines.
Powered usb external drives (the ones that are based on standard hard drives and plug into the wall) are recognized, but the smaller usb powered ones are not.
The drives work on the same computers when booted xp so it's not the usb itself.
Any ideas?

I have 3 Seagate external hard drives of various sizes, plus one Iomega 300GB HDD all of which have been working perfectly for a long time. All are passed through a D-Link USB hub to my laptop.

Recently I had to clear out the space they're sitting on, so I unplugged all the drives and laptop and put everything in a box on a shelf for about a week before putting everything back together.

When everything was plugged back in, none of the Seagates were recognized by the laptop, but the Iomega is still working fine, recognized and is accessible. Also, any of my flash drives I plug into the hub is recognized and works OK.

Neither Device Manager nor Disk Manager show the Seagates, but they do show the Iomega.
I've tried most of the suggestions I've found on the Internet including new drivers, unplugging the power cord, bypassing the hub, etc.
I plugged one of them into my office HP laptop and it doesn't recognize the Seagate either.

So, my thoughts are that the hub is fine, the laptop's fine, there's just something wrong with the Seagates, yet it's odd that they all failed at the same time because I stored them away for a while.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Specs:
For the Seagate HDD's, model number I have is ST3200823A, which is 200GB, ST3250623A, 250GB, and a 350GB(?), all "Push Button", USB 2.0.
Laptop is an eMachines M5405, Windows XP SP2, AMD 1.6GHz, 704MB RAM.

A:Seagate external drives not recognized

When you plug in the Seagates (one by one), put them up to your ear and make sure they are spinning up properly. If you here any clicking then it might be the drive. Also, hold the drive horizontally in your hands and move it in a circular motion. If you feel a cyntripical force, then the platters are spinning. Seagate has been know to have faulty external drives. Let us know what you find out.

The oddest thing happened - my computer suddenly decided, after three years, to no longer recognize my two external hard drives or my four flash drives. None of my six ports recognize them. They don't load. Nothing. Just a little pop up saying something akin to "USB device not recognized by Windows."

Hmmm. None storage devices like my printer, scanner, mouse and keyboard, all still work without a hitch on any of the ports. My HDDs and flash drives still work on my other home computer and my laptop so it's not the devices themselves. This is really perplexing because I haven't installed any new software in ages nor have I put in new hardware. This problem just seems so arbitrary! I was using these devices just yesterday, too!

After installing Dantz Retrospect, software that came with my Maxtor External drive, my hard drive was no longer recognized by Windows XP. I immediatly tried unistalling the software but my drive still goes unrecognized. I thought the drive was shot until I tried it on another computer which worked perfectly. A little later I bought a drive enclosure and a 320GB WD hard drive. This worked on my other computer but I encountered the same problem on this computer.

Could part of Danz still be on my system or did it change something that it did not change back? I have also experimented with uninstalling my firewire drivers (both are firewire drives) but had no success. Perhaps I did not get everything.

I should also point out that if I shutdown my computer and leave the drive on while restarting, it will be recognized but I recieve numerous errors while copying files making it impossible to use the drive on this computer.

I am not using an addon firewire card, the port is directly on my motherboard.

ATM, I have been puting files on the drive over the network as the drive works on my other computer but it would be nice if I could get a direct connection to this computer.

I have a Sony Vaio all in one but it doesn't have a cd drive. I've purchased two and neither were recognized by Windows 8. Has anyone found a USB optical drive that they can reccomended?

What's funny (or sad) is that the suggested accessory on Sonys website for a optical drive has a review on it (the only one) and the reviewer says it isn't windows 8 compliant.

Review: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666468651&tab=featuresTab#reviews

I can't make any specific recommendation because all mine are internal; however, here is a list from NewEgg.com that you could browse and if you check the details tab for each unit, the compatible operating systems should be identified:

External CD / DVD Drives, Blu-ray Drives - Newegg.com

BTW, I hope you sent those other two back for a refund. Good luck.

Okay I have a vista machine I built my self a few years ago. Recently the power supply died and I replaced it with a bigger better one. 600 watts instead of 400. Machine works great, however, now it seems that external harddrives that are not powered from an external power supply (2.5 inch western digitals I have) are not recognized at all when I plug them in. Doesn't show up in device manager, disk management or anything. Nothing happens when I plug them in. The lights blink on the drives but nobody is home. They work fine on every other machine I have. Now, I know the usb ports put out at least some power because my iphone mounts fine and charges, even my 5th gen ipod which is a hard drive, charges and mounts, all flash drives work.... Could it be the external western digitals are not getting "enough" power, do the usb ports get power from another line that i might have forgotten to plug in? I thought those ports were all powered from the main power line that plugs into the Mobo all the other functions of the computer seem to be just fine. I've tried all 6 usb ports on the back and get the same result.

Any suggestions on what to try? Am at a loss. the drives are passport western digitals, I have a 60 gig and 120 gig...

A:external hard drives not recognized/powered in vista

1.) What's the make and model of your power supply? It's possible that it's underpowered for your setup.
If the power supply is generic, how many 12V rails does it have, and how many amps are on each 12V rail?

2.) Have you tried the drives on a different computer? If that problem is solved after trying on another computer, it's definitely your PC hardware causing the issue.

Hi - the current version of the ideapad 710s BIOS does not allow changing of the SATA/drive mode from RAID to AHCI. As a result, it is pretty much impossible to install Linux onto these systems. I've tried multiple combinations of things - completely wiped the drive, disabled UEFI, Secure Boot and enabled Legacy mode, etc - and nothing works.  The currently locked SATA mode basically prevents Linux from even seeing the SSD.  I've tried the latest versions of Ubuntu and Gentoo - both with the same result. Is there any reason why this setting is not exposed?  Are there any plans to expose it?

Since some weeks I have been experiencing some issues with charging the battery.  It was charging just occasionally,  I often needed to unplug power cable and plug it back in to proceed charging, "plugged in, not charging" and so on.  It was working like that until yesterday. Now,  the bettery seems to be fully uncharged. If I plug in power cable, no one led is on, and also nothing happens. I cannot turn it on...  The charger should be ok, at least, the voltage inside of laptop is ok. I tried several workarounds for "power led is on,  but laptop wont turn on", but nothing helped. What else could I try before sending it to the service?

And still nothing on the screen. Any Lenovo stores are quite far away. Anyone knows what's going on?

Less than a month ago I bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad 710s, today it suddenly turned off even though it's battery was at 64%. I then plugged in the charger and tried turning it on - nothing happened. Then I held down the power button at it turned on. Only to turn off again after about 15 minutes. Now, it won't turn on at all.If I hold down the power button, the light behind the keyboard blinks, but the screen stays black. When I plug in the charger, the light that shows it is charging is on, so the charger is working.I just can't turn on my computer at all. I don't know if this information is needed, but I have used it almost every day, around 6 hours every day I've used it (I'm using it for school only). The only things installed on the computer was Office 365 and a driver so that I could use my printer.Any idea how to get it working again?

If you just formatted the C:\ partition, you should still be able to recover using the NOVO button (see page 21 of the user manual) Novo Menu: ? Shut down the computer (press and hold the power button until it powers off) and wait at least five seconds.Press the Novo button using a paper clip.   The NOVO button is just forward of the USB port on the left side of the laptop (see page 6 of the user manual) to turn on the laptop and open the Novo MenuSelect System Recovery >> Troubleshoot >> Reset this PCIf successful, it will return your laptop to the factory condition just as it was when you bought the laptop. If you somehow deleted all the partitions, then you will have to do a clean install of Windows 10 either using recovery media obtained from Lenovo support for a small fee (recommended since it will restore its factory recovery/driver partitions etc.), or do a clean install of Windows 10 using the instructions from Microsoft found here. Good Luck,

I live in Toronto, Canada. I bought Lenovo Ideapad 710S (i5-6200 128GB SSD 8GB Ram) in August 2016. Used only 2 weeks, the laptop couldn't recognized the hard drive. It was sent to MIAD (local Lenovo certified repair center) and diagnosed as hard drive dysfunction. The technician told me since it is a "consumer" laptop (vs. business laptop such as ThinkPad), they don't have the part to repair/replace. I waited 4 weeks until the new hard drive arrive and the laptop was still not working. MIAD told me it was not hard drive problem and beyond their ability to repair. The laptop was later sent to Lenovo repair center (US).A week later I got a notice from Lenovo said the laptop had arrived but the part they need is in back order.5 weeks later still no sign of getting the problem fixed. Contacted Lenovo and get the same answer. Only compensate so far is extension of my warranty for 2 months. However, no compensation about the usability. For about 10 weeks, I have to use my old Pentium M Thinkpad. If I bought a new laptop, it might already arrived! Conclusion: Don't buy Lenovo "consumer" laptop (Ideapad, Yoga etc), at least in Canada.

Hi,  My Ideapad 710s which is only like 8 months old is currently with Lenovo for a warranty repair.  The comma key became loose and fell off the keyboard, the little clips on the back were broken so I was wasn't able to clip it back on.  I sent it to Lenovo under my 3 year warranty and now they are refusing to fix it under the warranty.  What can I do about this?  Why would anyone break their comma key on purpose? The rest of the laptop is in perfect condition so it is clear that I have not abused the laptop, every other key is absolutely fine.  Seeing that it was simply a matter of clipping a new key on, I asked Lenovo to just post me one out and I would do it myself. They refused, and made me send it in. I did this, and now they are going to try and charge me for the postage which I didn't want to pay for anyway because the repair was so minor!!!  This will be the last Lenovo product I ever buy if they are so petty and treat their customers so badly over such a small repair that any reasonable person can see is a manufacturing fault.  I am furious about this, and hopefully you guys can give some advice.  Thanks

Hello there!I'm planing to buy a new notebook, and found the 710s-13ISK (80SW003NGE) interesting. There are 5 different configurations of it, with different CPUs and memory amount. The cheapest one is the only one i could afford, and it has the weakest CPU i3-6100U, which is no issue at all, but this one has only 4GB of DDR3L. I'd still like to buy this one, but only if I'm able to upgrade the memory some day to 8GB, in case the 4GB are not enough for my usage scenarios. Unfortunately i cannot find any specific information, whether the mainboard has a RAM slot (so the 4GB could be replaced by bigger 8GB), or the memory is soldered directly on the mainboard (means not replaceable). Does anyone have this particular notebook, and could give me some information about this one? Many, many thanks in advance!

I am trying to run games on my 710s with the i5 6260U and Intel Iris 540 graphics, with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.The nature of the video card in this laptop showed promise for casual playing of current titles at low settings, however early results were dissapointing. Upon installing Throttlestop and Intel XTU in order to undervolt the package and squeeze more performance, my surprise was high upon finding that the package consumed no more than 10W at very low temperatures with the fan barely spinning, all while running Doom 2016 at 720P Low settings at 20FPS.Changing power use settings in the Intel Graphics control panel and in the Windows power use utility raised the FPS to 30 and the power use to around 13-14W, but the temperatures barely reach 60C and the fans aren't even spinning at full blast, and actually turn on and off all the time while running the game. Eventually the power consumption stabilizes at 13W, and Throttlestop states that it's due to a TDP limit. Is there a way of increasing this limit in order to attain the full performance of the laptop?

I bought ideapad 710S after research and survey, but the performance of 710s is really disappointing. The computer has strange problem and unstable performance. After my first week, I sent it to the maintanence center. Lenovo maintenance center was nice enough to change the mainboard for me. However, after 3 weeks of using, the problems reoccured again. the computer has slow processing capability.  I use simple word program and my typing does not show on the screen simultanously, instead there is the waiting cycle icon keeps apperaing. Plus, there seem to be extreme heat release problem with lound fan noise. I returned to the maintenance center and after that 3 weeks, the shop replaced ROM and heat fan.
When I got home, I started working on the document and recognize heat problem is gone. However, the delay processing problem remains. I have a problem getting my work done with this 710S because everything delays. By everything I mean my typed sentence delays by more than 10 seconds, my access to internet website consumes more than 30 seconds, program opening takes almost 1 minute. I feel disappointed, frustrated and mad with the quality of ideapad. I was a fan of thinkpad and this wiped off and torn down my believe of lenovo brand.

Randomly I got the Blue Screen of Death error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and apparently this issue occurs because the iastor.sys driver, is not compatible with Windows 10. So I changed the storage controller from Intel Rapid Storage sata controller to Intel mobile express chipset sata controller which was the other driver already on my 3 week old laptop. However, after this the laptop would not boot! It just kept saying 'automatically attempting repairs'. I then went into the BIOS and changed the SATA from RAID to AHCI and then the laptop would boot. But now the driver is just 'Standard NVM Express Controller'. I tried to reinstall the intel rapid stroage sata controller driver but then the laptop would not boot in RAID or AHCI! So I had to do a system restore and now the laptop seems to be working on AHCI and it has a boot loop on RAID.  My question is, should I put the laptop back on RAID (original factory setting) and after the boot loop should I reset the laptop to install a fresh copy of Win10 from recovery? Or should I leave it as it is now on AHCI with Microsoft Standard NVM Express Controller driver? Are there any disadvantages? My SSD is a Samsung PM961 (samsung mzvlw512hmjp) I need some help quickly before my 30 days returns period runs out. Hello lenovo community.

I just got my new Lenovo Ideapad 710s-13sk yesterday.

I've used it for 2 days now, and it seems that the 2 finger scroll up and down triggers the 3 finger function from time to time?

So when i want to scroll, sometimes the task view shows up or everything minimizes depending on what direction i scroll of course.

Have anybody else experienced this and found a solution for it?

Best Regards,
Christian
