I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It seems that the packages of .Net Framework - Update KB4340558 - are damaged (wrong or missing hashes). Install fails with error 0x80092004 on Windows 8.1 clients and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Also KB 4054566 (Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2) seems affected.

I've now round about 10-20 confirmations around the world. One user found a log entry:

?Couldn?t find the hash of component: NetFx4-PenIMC?

So I guess, the package is damaged/botched internally. I summed it up with the blog post
.Net Framework: Update KB4340558 drops error 0x80092004?. Guess MS need to
have a look into the package.

Quote:
Known issues in this update

Issue 1

Symptom
After you install KB 3133977, the software for Intel Bluetooth devices may not be fully functional because of existing software issues in the Intel Bluetooth driver software. These issues may affect Bluetooth keyboards, mice, audio streaming devices, and voice headsets. You may also not be able to pair new Bluetooth devices. Intel is currently working on an update to address their software incompatibilities.

Workaround
If you require Intel Bluetooth support on Windows 7 before the revised software is available, the only known workaround at this time is to uninstall this update temporarily and then reinstall it after Intel has updated their software.

So few days ago at night my computer fans got louder than usual and i just closed my computer but after that night my cpu usage and overall performance has gone worse than what it has ever been.
I can barely keep software's up anymore without them slowing down my whole computer and i'm not sure if it's all because this update that has keep failing and the fact that my computer isn't up to date without it.

Things i have tried to fix the cpu usage/ windows update problem:
?disabled most startup programs
?did sfc/scannow but it didn't help
?ran all avast cleanups (no viruses found)
?re installed avast and avast cleanup
?disabled some unnecessary parts of avast to help with cpu but it didn't fix the problem
?made sure that there isn't multiple antivirus
softwares up at the same time
?opened up my computer case and cleaned fans, case etc from dust (i think this helped a bit with the cpu but my computer still can't handle any games that it was able to handle
few days ago)
?tried downloading and manually installing the update but even then it failed
?ran Windows Update troubleshooter and tried to
fix windows updates but it didn't help either
?disabled superfetch but it didn't do anything so i turned
it back on

+ my computer has 201 Gt of free space so i don't think that's causing the cpu problem either.
i'd be really happy if someone could help me with these issues that i am facing.

Hi,
Does anyone know how to solve this issue ? It's the 1st time I am having this issue (Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L300)
1) I updated first MS Essential : OK
2) I updated KB4103718 [2018-05 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64]. Message : "Update successfuly installed (but it's NOT ! See below). Restart your computer". Then I restarted my computer and...
Then, everything goes wrong:
1) Windows refuses to start (frozen on MS logo)=>
        a) I shut down my laptop manually (Power button) =>

        b) I restart my laptop and a dialog box recommends "startup repair" : I pressed Enter and then the system searches for "repairs" eternally... => I shut down the laptop manually again.
2) I re-re-started my computer and... Windows starts normally.
3) When I checked for the installed Update : "failed" appears... for KB4103718 [2018 roll up] but 2018-05 Security & quality Roll up for .NET FRAMEWORK (KB4099633) is installed for the 3rd time
4) I got a message to install KB4103718 AND KB4099633.
P.S.: A tec checked my laptop and fixed 2 issues on the Registry and System files, did a restor point to the 8th of May since the issue appeared last week. I got the Error message 0x8000ffff last week.

Hi,
for half a year Windows Update doesn't find any updates on my system, I had to install them manually. I set up the system new, same problem. I installed about 170 updates manually (silent batch installation). Automatic Windows Update still searches for a
day and more, doesn't find anything and the Windows Update Service is blocking the system with constant processor usage of 50%. Now there is a rollup that shall fix this problem but it cannot be installed. I tried to install it manually. Error 2149842967 "This
update is not compatible with your computer" (translated from German). It is the correct msu-file for my system Windows 7 SP1 Professional 64 bit.
What may be the problem and what can I do to resolve it?

Our server admins are distributing the month "Security Only" updates for .NET Framework via WSUS yet our vulnerability scanner triggered with these two alerts:

Hi.
Thank you for all your support and security updates for my two Surface RTs.
They?re great and I don?t want to see them go.  A quick aside? It would be nice for my two Surface RTs and me, if Microsoft had a change of heart and decided to port Windows 10 RT with Office RT for Surface RT and get a few
more years support.  Anyway.
Today one of my Surface RT 8.1 provided the option on shut down, to update and restart, which I did.
It said it was installing 4 updates.  When rebooted, I went to view update history and found two failed updates and three successful ones for a total of five.
The first one in the list that failed is this one here below.

Then to get more information, I clicked the link shown there for 4048958 to learn more.
That took me to the Microsoft Security Update Guide, where I searched for 4048958 and was provide two links for RT 8.1.
Both links, one for IE11 and one for RT 8.1, go to the KB 4048958 article, which says to get more information, go to the Security Update Guide, which of course takes one back to the KB.
Not very informative loop I guess.
The second update that is on the list above showing as failed, is the one for Adobe to prevent remote code execution.
When I am in Windows Update and double-click the failed entry for Adobe, and then click the link for more information, it takes me to a URL that does not show a KB number and provides a link for more i... Read more

I am from National Insruments, we have a software product called Lookout, when we install the update 2017-06 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4022719), there is a problem for window to pop up.
In our software, there is a control panel(panel 1), in panel 1,there is a button(button1) which is connected to another control panel(panel2).
If we click button1, panel can pop up. Before we install the update, the normal action is panel can pop up on the top layer, which can been seen in the following picture.
But after we install the ipdate, the phenomenon is strange, when clicking button2, panel 2 can pop up, but under panel1, we have to click on the button for another time, then panel 2 can show up in the front, this phenomenon is not expected.
I wonder if there are some changes causing this reaction. For example, modifying register key of fixed value of windows parameters , anyone has any ideas or recommendations?

At least one of those articles describes the exact problem I'm having, and when I try to install it is gives a message saying "Update Does Not Apply To Your System". But it doesn't say why. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with the problems this download was meant to fix. (And yes, I'm getting the 64-bit version of everything).

That's because you might already have these updates on your system. Happened to me once, didn't realize it because auto update was on and it already installed that package. Go to add remove programs and it should be there among the list of updates. Chances are, you already have that update.

Hi all,
After a recent Windows 7 automatic update I could no longer log in remotely to our host.
I tried from other Windows 7 desktop and android client as well.
The login error message said "The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted" and something about possible expired password... (User's account password is set to never expire, so that wasn't it.)
Today I had to go into our server room to get access to it.
I rebooted it, I checked local policy, users, groups... they all seemed fine, I removed, re-added users, I reset password on a test user but no one could log in remotely.
I Googled a bunch...
If I disable "Allow connections only form computers running Remote Desktop with
Network Level Authentication (recommended)" to allow non NLA logins, then I can log in, it works... [https://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000826]
BUT I want to use NLA. You know, because it says it's more secure. (It's so secure in fact that no one can log in at this point.)
So more Google searching...
I searched for recent patches that might cause RDP issues, I searched for specific KB numbers that were installed recently on the host. And I came across this article:
Patch Tuesday updates for Win7, KB 4480970 and KB 4480960 knock out networking
This fixed my problem:

What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1?

I see that MSKB3161608 includes quite a few patches, including MSKB3161647 - Windows Update Client for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: June 2016. In the past, I think some people mentioned MS possibly slipping in some Win10 crap with patches to the Windows Update Client.

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, does MSKB3161608 (or MSKB3161647) include any nasties, Win10 garbage, or MS-suprises?

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, is MSKB3161608 a recommended install?

A:What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup?

Hi SevenOfNine

(So, you are referring to Star Trek Voyager)

Actually, you still can upgraded to Windows 10 as this will end on July 2016, as announce.
I refuse to install, as i am used to Windows 7.

I think you can do it, because it keep showing when going to MSN website.
Try it, as it may works.

Sometimes i don't understand why people so like to do update this patch that so on....
When it is good and ready, Windows update will push to your pc, definitely.
You can go > Start --> Windows update, then it pop-up to remind to upgrade to Windows 10 (was downloaded into my pc.)

To anyone that can help me out:

I purchased a windows anytime upgrade key and upgraded my system from windows 7 home premiuim to windows 7 ultimate now when my windows tries to update I get this: (See image titled "message")

To bring you up to speed as to what I've done so far:
I ran sfc\scannow and no errors were found
I downloaded the hotfixes and apllied them and still could not update
I tried to do a system restore to the point before I upgraded, but I could not perform one because all of my previous attempts to update windows automatically creates a system restore and all the restore points were within a 24 hour period
I installed a system update readiness tool as per "windows help and support" dialogue box

To see the updates that did not install, refer to the image titled "update"

Really, I feel like I've done my homework and I've exhausted my efforts as to how to fix this problem. I'm currently going to school for computers and so I really like to apply what I learn in real world situations, but this one has got me stumped!

We are using Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10 on the client. When trying to remote debug using Visual Studio 2010 (from client), I receive the error, "Unable to connect to the Microsoft Visual Studio Remote Debugging Monitor name, '..'
A security package specific error occurred."

Now, a colleague of mine recently noticed he was getting this error a month or so ago (and was on Windows 10 version 1809). We have been trying to troubleshoot it using some suggestions we came across, but most date back to 2012 or previous and target hotfixes
for Windows XP.  I never had the issue (and I was on a previous version of Windows 10), so meanwhile I would do the remote debugging. Last night I got pushed down the upgrade to version 1809 of Windows 10. I see in the update history Servicing Stack and
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1809 64 based.

What could have changed to now see this error, and what can I do short of uninstalling each update?

Thank you.

Microsoft Updater says I have a critical update (KB2286198) to install but it fails and gives the message: "WindowsUpdate_80246007" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".

I've tried a couple of things that MS Support suggests but they don't work and don't seem to really apply to this particular error message. Searching for the error code 80246007 hasn't yielded anything yet that works.

Any ideas?

Our practice for a while due to network limitations has been to apply Security-only updates.  We've noticed some issues with NIC drivers in the April and May Updates that we've seen fixes in the Rollups addressing, but not necessarily the Security
Only.
Our intent was to apply the next rollup, but MS is saying that a rollup from March 2019 or earlier must be applied first.  The indication is that PCIClearCache is no longer included.
1) We notice that PCIClearCache is available from the MS Security downloads
2) When we download and attempt to apply the full Mach 2019 rollup, we get a failure that indicates a user is not logged on (we do this with a user logged on) and assume there's another source of that error related to a later update having been applied.
Is there a know issue preventing what we're trying?  Alternatively is there a problem with applying the PCIClearCache that can be downloaded on its own then applying the next Rollup?

Good day everyone,

We're using Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 with all latest updates deployed every month and we've been using RA for several years in order to support our office users.

It seems that after deploying the latest 2018-07 Security & Quality rollup (KB4338818), Remote Assistance is not working as expected.

An initial connection can be made but when you close that session, the process (msra.exe) cannot be closed anymore - becomes zombie.
From that point on, any try for RA ends with the following message:

Process Explorer shows process in wait:executive state and it cannot be killed - only restart works.

Any ideas? Is anyone else facing the same issue?
Can someone provide the list of patches that this rollup includes?
Thanks in advance,

Pavlos

Every time I try to install it, on the reboot, it gets about 50% to 56% complete, then hangs.  I have let it run 15 minutes or more and it will not complete.
It would be nice if there is a way to see if it really is running.  Normally I assume that there should be at least 1% progress per minute.  A better indication of running or hung would be helpful.
Fortunately the rollback works.

Hi --

I just migrated to a new hard drive and did a clean install of Win7 (did not have SP1 on the DVD).

During the Updating process, windows stopped working and I received an error, something about running Update again, etc. So I rebooted and finished the Upgrading process...no further problems noted.

However, I view the "Installed Updates" and see that KB2604114 and about 20 other updates "FAILED." But when I view the "Update History," it lists KB2604114 and the others as "installed."

I'm confused. Are the updates I'm referring to "FAILED" or are they properly installed?

Thanks!

A:Win7 - "View Update History" vs. "Installed Update"

In your description, you might have switched the observations.

"History" is a log that tracks attempts at installing specific updates. One user might have multiple failed attempts for a particular update; or multiple successful attempts if one was looking for a source of a problem.

"Installed updates" records the last successful installation of a specific update; no timestamp, just the date.

windows update error code "WindowsUpdate_80073712" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

To anyone that can help me out:

I purchased a windows anytime upgrade key and upgraded my system from windows 7 home premiuim to windows 7 ultimate now when my windows tries to update I get this: (See image titled "message")

To bring you up to speed as to what I've done so far:I ran sfc\scannow and no errors were found
I downloaded the hotfixes and apllied them and still could not update
I tried to do a system restore to the point before I upgraded, but I could not perform one because all of my previous attempts to update windows automatically creates a system restore and all the restore points were within a 24 hour period
I installed a system update readiness tool as per "windows help and support" dialogue box
Really, I feel like I've done my homework and I've exhausted my efforts as to how to fix this problem. I'm currently going to school for computers and so I really like to apply what I learn in real world situations, but this one has got me stumped!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance,

If the System File Check tool found corruption and could not fix them, then we will do a repair install to correct this. First check if the second set of instructions (Resetting Windows Update Components) is successful.

Repair Installation:
You may reinstall your copy of Windows 7 while keeping your files, settings, and programs by performing a repair installation or an upgrade installation.
1. Insert the Windows installation disc into your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.
2. On the Install Windows page, click Install now.
3. On the Get important updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get installation updates.
4. On the Type your product key for activation page, we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key to help avoid problems during activation.
5. On the Please read the license terms page, if you accept the license terms, click I accept the license terms.

I'm trying under "Windows Update" to click on "check for updates" however when I do that I get message
"windows update cannot currently check for updates, because updates on this computer are controlled by your system administrator"
I am the admin on the PC however this PC points to a In-office "WSUS server" to normally get its update
Is there a work around to this that I could add to my local group policy or registry?
I have been under Group Policy Object Editor -->Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates -->
Windows Components --> Windows Update
but seen nothing that would allow to override this error
Any suggestion(s) would be most appreciated

For over a year occasionally, the Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x86-based Systems and Security and Quality Rollup
for NET Framework fails to installs and sends my computer into a restart loop until I start in safe and hide the update.
All other updates install ok.
The latest to fail is KB4507449, KB4507420, KB4507449,
and KB4474419.
In command prompt I have ran SFC/ scannow and Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I have reset Windows Update components and all seems ok.
I have tried to manually install the updates from Microsoft update catalog with no luck.
Anybody know how to fix this?

The Problem:
The July 2016 Cumulative Security Update for IE11 (KB3170106) Update Fails to Install, giving Error code 80073712. All other updates installed successfully.

AFAIK no malware or other suspicious symptoms, besides a random CHKDSK on boot up a few days / week ago, where it had to repair a tonne of file indexes etc. Could be related, otherwise all seems fine.

Operating System:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

Fully updated besides KB3170106 (This update. Fails) and KBs 2952664, 3021917, 3068708 and 3080149, which I have hidden (Just telemetry crap I believe?).

What I've Tried:
? CHKDSK (Now comes back clean). - Log Attached.

? SFC /Scannow (Detects errors, unable to repair). Also tried this from Safe Mode, and the Repair Mode Command Prompt on my Windows Boot disk, same result. - Log Attached.

? System Update Readiness Tool - (Detects errors, unable to repair) - Log Attached.

? Downloading 2 of the updates that errored in SURT, placed them in Windows\CheckSur\packages directory, which fixed two of the error lines, but still many errors left, as well as errors with the .mum and .cat files of those are updates still present. (This one is strange as one of the updates is KB2952664 which I had hidden and NOT installed..). The log I have attached is from a re-run after this one.

? Downloading the KB3170106 update manually - Still errors. (Said successful once, but obv wasn't).

Resources Available:
? Full Admin access to the problem PC
? A separate Windows 7 Pr... Read more

This update won't install and I had trouble once before...a long time ago... installing this update. I went to Google for a fix and on some forum a tech told me to un-install the ver. 2.0 that I have on there now...reboot...and then d/l the new update. I didn't bookmark the forum unfortuneately. Now, my system won't even allow me to un-install the old ver. 2.0 so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I am trying to get the REST queries to work with the sharepoint end points instead of graph end points. I first created an app with relevant permissions and have given it the admin consent. Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end
point with https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com as resource. I am then using the access token retrieved to give the rest call to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/v2.0/drives/b!3indYSbqZ0-hVSPnCgIZy-2xDMh7jH9AuQnEzJMc6TEfQoSJvJT-R6tT0lFBQiPr/root/delta
but it is failing with "error":{"code":"generalException","message":"General exception while processing"}}. The REST response code is 401 Unauthorized. I have filed a Microsoft support ticket but they
have asked me to post on these forms. Can someone please help me with this? I am not able to move forward because the error is pretty generic and doesn't give any additional details.
Thanks,

Why is Microsoft Security Essentials Definition Update being listed as "Optional" under the Automatic Windows Update?
You actually have to choose it to be downloaded (since it is listed as optional), instead of MSE/Windows automatically downloading the definition.
If you do not manually select it to be downloaded, Windows will not automatically download the MSE definition.
Isn't it odd that a security definition update for MSE be listed as "Optional" in terms of "importance?" This happens in both Windows 7 and Windows Vista OS.

Any reasons or answers?

A:Microsoft Security Essentials Definition Update being listed as "Optional" under Importance?

"They are marked optional in Windows Update because if they are ignored MSE will install the definitions at its regular daily update check." (official answer from

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msestart/thread/b5594cea-93b4-4320-8cbb-edc59a0948cc)
Even if many people set their Windows Update (incl. MS Update) settings to "check for updates and notify..." instead of "install updates automatically", I would strongly recommend the automatic setting. It's safer when MSE checks and updates the virus
signatures every time you start the computer (before you can do anything in Windows) than when it updates according to its own daily schedule. The difference is not huge but existent."192 GB ought to be enough for anybody." (from the miniseries "Next Generation's Jokes")
