Q: HP Envy Plugged in, No Charging light, No other lights, Woin...

Hello,My HP Envy 15 laptop started having this an issue about 2 days ago. I was in class and it was plugged into power when suddenly the computer crashed. No warnings, no shut down screen. it just instantly turned off. Unfortunately, it is a few years old and the warranty expired in January this year. I had not done any hardware upgrades/changes it was completely out of nowhere. I then went home and plugged it in. There was no power charge light beside the power cord on the side of the laptop, however I came back 20 minutes later and there was a white charge light. I then powered it up and was on it for about 10 minutes before it crashed again. It is sitting on my desk now on charge. no lights on or anything and it won't turn on. I have tried turning it on just on battery power, I have tried just on ac power and none will work, Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Product Name: HP ENVY 15-u010dx x360 Convertible PCProduct Model: 15-U010dXOperating System: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)When Purchased: July 2014 The Problem: The LED charging light flashes continuously (even when powered off or plugged in) and when the laptop is plugged in, the battery simply will not charge.  Details: This just started today. When the laptop is plugged in, it states "plugged in, not charging." However, the battery doesn't lose charge while it's plugged in. It's like the computer is dependent upon the power cord and the battery is shot.  This is strange because I don't leave my laptop charging for long periods of time. Thinking back, my laptop has died at around 11% charge since I purchased it. What I've Tried:turning it off and back oninstalling updates and restartingseeing if the laptop would charge while it's offswitching cordsswitching outletshours of browsing HP and other support forumsI'm hesitant to try any battery calibration or removal until I know whether my battery is removable. Hopefully, you all can help. I also don't even know what the diagnosis of the problem is, and don't want to spend money taking it in to get it fixed until I have a better idea.

Hey Community, I'm in dire need for help, my lenovo Y50-70 has been working fine for the past 3 years now and JUST after the warrenty is up, my battery becomes funky. I noticed that whenever I load up a game, the charger becomes unrecognized and instead of regular led lights, i get one blinking white light and one blinking orange light. When I remove the AC adapter and plug it back in, it'll recognize the charger and ocasionally it'll take some time to recognize it. It stops charging when the LED lights begin to blink. I've tried to1. "remove the static" or drain the battery by unplugging the AC adapter2. holding down the power button for 30 seconds (I didnt remove the battery because it's not a removable battery, Should I?).3. Changed the power settings to high performance and no conservation of power.4. I bought a new adapter and it's still happening, I have no idea what to do. Intially prior of buying a new adapter it drained and I couldnt figure out a way to get it to charge. With the new adapter I was able to charge it till full, but when I have it on, it does the same thing.  Please help me community, you kind souls. Best,Richard

First, I have checked the charging cord and done everything I can think of to see what's wrong. When you plugged it in, there is no light even coming on showing that it's connected...... I don't think it's just a battery issue. Both my laptops, came up with issues on the same day. The harddrive failed on my other one.....

My HP ENVY is plugged in to the charger, and the battery is continually at 15% and says plugged in not charging. I've tried turning off my computer overnight and charging it... but it remains at 15%.  Also, I have read other forums which say to run an HP system Diagnostics test by pressing escape repeatedly when turning on the laptop unplugged and then pressing F2. I have tried pressing escape repeatedly and nothing happens. Also my laptop doesn't even have an F2 key so I'm not sure about that part either. Can anyone help?! i have a new HP Envy 17t (Product No Y7C72AV), less then a week old.  When the battery started to run low I plugged it into AC power and received a message "Pugged in Not Charging".  The power light, by the power plug (where it plugs into the computer) is on.  I shut off the computer and came back in a couple of hours latter and turned on the computer the battery, bassed on the battery meter, had charged the battery while it was shut off.  When the machine is running and plugged into AC power the message "Plugged in Not Charging " is still on.  What is the problem? What do I do to solve it?

As if my noisy fan problem wasn't enough (still looking for a solution that doesn't involve sending it back), today I noticed both batteries (the main 6-cell one and the 9-cell slice) were listed as "plugged in, not charging". Clearly not very useful if I want to use it tomorrow on batteries. So I fiddled with the slice connection to see if that was the problem and the battery icon in the taskbar flickered between full (100%), no slice connected and the current not charging. It seems it's a slice issue, as I went into the BIOS and told the Envy to fully charge the main battery before charging the slice and now at least I have the 6-cell at 100%. However, the slice simply won't charge. There's not much about this even after a Google search, but from what I gathered, it seems it's more than just a slice connection issue. I even read about overheating damaging the diode on the motherboard which controls battery charging... Restarting doesn't seem to do anything, nor does altering the connection itself or adjusting BIOS settings. Could this be a software issue that I could fix myself, or do I finally have to figure out a way to get this to HP Korea and (possibly) argue my way for an international warranty to be accepted (which I've also read horror-stories about)?

Similar problem, but I disconnected the slice while the system is on, and set the laptop back down on it- now says "charging." The internal battery is at 100%.

Today, I noticed my laptop kept shutting itself down every time it was accidentally unplugged. Then, I looked at the battery and it's at 6% battery life and says "Plugged in, not charging".  I shut down the computer and let it charge for a few hours while we went to dinner, it did not charge at all (in fact, it went down, it was 7% before I left the house).  Still automatically shuts off if I unplug.   I've tried the battery test but the computer won't even turn itself on since the battery is so low so that is out of the question.

Hi @mciaccia, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x360 and issues with the Battery. Here is a link to calibrate and test the Battery.  Here is a link to troubleshoot the battery on a Notebook. You should be able to complete these with the Notebook plugged into the AC adapter. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase or that need updating. If that does not help try the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted. It is reading the battery level wrong, so the computer thinks the battery level is higher then what is actually is, so when it runs out of juice it shuts down.Go to Device Manager, Select BatteriesRight click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed thereClick Uninstall, at the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driverShutdown the computerRemove the battery for minute and then put it back inWhen the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.Go to Device ManagerSelect BatteriesRight click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed thereClick "Search automatically fo... I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY x360 Convertible PC and issues with the battery charging while plugged in and on. I have checked into this and it would see that is is a power loss issue. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. If that does not solve this, please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/Case number and phone number appear. They will be happy to assist you immediately. i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you

Old battery looks dead and i have bought new one. Windows 10 reporting that battery OK, adapter "plugged in, charging", but it is not charging. Battery is not pretty new (2015/12), but it's not used and AIDA64 reports good state of battery. Should I go to the service with my T530 or is there another solution?

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.

A:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hi Guys, I have had to change my battery, got a brand new DELL battery but I can't get it to charge...I'm running Windows 10 PRO. I have tried the fixes listed above but unfortunately NONE has solved my problem. Any suggestions?

A:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

In Bios, I try change to option Standard. Battery infomation Excellent
But cannot fix. Please help.

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or does it show "unknown"?  F2 at powerup to check.
Is the battery the original one that arrived with the system?

Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

Hey,

I just got my computer back from having the motherboard switched out because of another problem, but now my battery will not charge. The light is on and it says it is charging, but it isn't. Should I attempt a gauge reset or something else?

It is a Lenovo y50, which I have had for 3 months. The battery needs to be unscrewed from the back.
Thanks!

A:Says plugged in and charging, but is not charging. Just got motherboard fixed.

If it is not charging maybe the battery is defective.
Did they gave you back the original charger?
Did they install another different motherboard which might use a different charger?
You may need to contact the person who repaired it to find out.

Hi supporter,
I buy a laptop DELL XPS 13 9350 from Microsoft store (NY) last week. But it stop charging at 80%. I have read all related topics on this forum, but my issue isn't solve. I did: - Update Window- update BIOS ver 1.4.4- BIOS > setting > general Battery Information: health excellent, 80% (Idle), AC Adapter = 45W-Power Management > Primary Battery Charge Configuration: Standard- all step here (www.dell.com/.../SLN296542), except (step 5 & 6).- I ran diognasis test in BIOS: everything passed. What could I do next? Thanks

A:XPS 13 9350, stop charging at 80% (plugged in, not charging)

Today, battery not charging at 70% but if I unplug power cord, it turns off immediately and can not power it on until I plug in. So I must charge battery continually during using. My laptop now becomes desktop!
Check battery heath (F2): "battery must replace". My laptop is OK except battery.
What happened with my new laptop for using 3 weeks?
Thank for your support.

So at random, the laptop will stop charging and simply says 'plugged in, not charging'. Are there more permanent solutions than going into BIOS and disabling built-in battery? I'd hate for this to be a returning issue (this is the 2nd time this occurs). Thanks for any suggestions! I've browsed the fora and know also of some other solutions, but I'm not satisfied with having to solve something like this more than once. What if I don't notice it, and someday have to run out with 40% battery left? Not desirable, specially given the price of these laptops.
