ScanFX 8800GTX vs the competition..?

Q: ScanFX 8800GTX vs the competition..?

Hi there,

I'm building a new system. Ive found an 8800gtx on scans website, it appears to be branded scanfx. The say "A Big Brand name card we're not allowed to mention. We guarantee 101% Satisfaction."

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=611289

How good is this 8800gtx in comparison to say, an xfx or gigabyte model for example?

The only noticable differences are that it runs at 575mhz, whereas some of the other (more expensive) cards may run at 600mhz.

This card is under 300, which is amazing. Whereas some are over 400.. what do you reckon?

Nick

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Macbook Pro is from mid 2015 and it's already struggling with things big time and, as Black Friday is fast approaching, I am thinking to upgrade.A few of my friends asked if I would consider windows, and said how much cheaper they are, and I am having second thoughts. Here are the 3, I am considering:Macbook Pro 15" - i9,32GB RAM, ProVega20, 1TB SSD - 3,834Lenovo ThinkPad Extreme Gen 2 - i9, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 1650, 1TB SSD + Multi-Touch Screen + Wifi 6 support - 3,096HP Spectre x360 - i7, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 1650, 1TB SSD + Multi-Touch Screen, Wifi 6 support - 1,799I am going through a lot of courses now, learning video and graphic editing as well as doing a fair bit of LIVE streaming and will be using some device for NOTE TAKING (OneNote). When I had a little play with Lenovo's touch screen on a laptop, I expected it to be poor, but it was actually good!An Ipad Pro 11inch is ANOTHER 1,100 on top of a Macbook. So a top spec Macbook Pro + Ipad Pro would cost me nearly 5,000, what seems absolutely INSANE. No touch screen of WIFI 6 on MACs, that seems just crazy to me in this day and age.The only reason why I am even considering is because I also have an iWatch & iPhone XR. I don't quite know if I could even control devices and do "screen mirroring" and "Clipboard" between an iphone and a windows laptop or TVs.Is there anything "pro macs" that I am missing here? What would you do??

Hi,

If you do not yet have a Gmail account, then tomorrow there will be a chance for you to get one.

At 5pm BST, there will be a competition consisting of 10 questions, available from http://gmailcomp.webdesign.purplecloud.net, or http://webdesign.purplecloud.net.

The competition will consist of 10 questions, with the first two people getting 100% correct to get a Gmail invitation each.

You can be reminded when the competition is going to start - simply go to one of the url's and enter your email in the box shown.

Just thought this would be a better way of giving away email accounts rather than selling them or whatever.

This is something that regularly seems to happen, yesterday for the second time.  The first time it disappeared just by a "SuperAntispyware Free" scan, but this time it didn't go away with this program.  I found Combofix.exe on the internet, but only now read you shouldn't use this without suppervision.  The installation went without problems and it run for about one hour, without change in the popup.  I closed the program without problems again, but as the redirect on my site hasn't disppeared (Combofix wasn't finished yet), I come to this forum for further help.

In case I really need a scan with Combofix, please can somebody tell me what to do further?  The problem is thus that the program doesn't show any progress after the blue popup telling it is scanning the computer system and that it can take 10 minutes or the double in case of heavy infections.  I thought an hour is too much and then, the program seemed never to finish .

Please is Combofix the best program to get the redirect removed or do I need to use something else?

What I further to know is if you can avoid these redirects by protecting your site with Norton or another antivirus?

And at last, doesn't the inbuilt antivirus of a browser (when it is 'on') not protect against redirects?

A:One of my urls is redirected to several games and competition websites

These were all caused by hardware please read here for what it means and what to try

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .. A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Just out of interest I thought I would ask this as my 1.4Ghz Athlon at 1.5Ghz with a Y-Tech 4000 rpm fan is reasonably loud. I wouldn't like to consider the noise necessary to overclock a chip from 1.6Ghz to 2.2Ghz with air cooling (600Mhz!!). I used to have Delta Fan on my SK6 heatsink but it was unbearable and I seem to get loaded temps of about 40 degrees celcius with the lower specification fan so I am ok with my 100Mhz overclock (via 133 fsb -> 143 fsb, A7M266 doesn't have multiplier dip switches or bios settings).

One reason I have always considered Intel CPU as an alternative to my beloved AMD chip is the ability to run cooler and therefore require a less deafening HSF.

So does anyone currently have a P4 overclocked significantly (Particularly the "a" northwoods) and can provide any information about the cooling that they need?

A:3DS Competition prize: P4 1.6a running at 2.2Ghz. With what cooling?

Most of the posts I've seen, pple are using air cooling with even the stock HSF!!! This isn't really surprising since the Northwood core is capable in running up to speeds of >2.2Ghz

Has anyone else found this to be true?

I've just installed XP on a small form factor Aspire X1200 media desktop system and it has absolutely cleared up all the tics and traits that could have been hardware or software related so I'm jazzed about that (its not a lemon after all!).

The last test was Firewire write speed over a network. I have two X1200s and the other one has 7RC installed and I use TeraCopy to take my speed measures from. The Firewire connection is built in and it's a small 4-pin type to 6-pin at the external drive. Identical Firewire drives on both systems (750 gig LaCie).

The write speed to the drive on the 7RC ranges from 4.5 to 5.7 MB/s. The write speed to the firewire drive on this system, when it was under Vista's control was 4.8 to 5.2 MB/s consistently. Both would always seem to start a little faster, like in the 14-17 MB/s range but by the end, that was the average.

Now, XP write speed to the same firewire drive from a USB drive over the network was 26 MB/s (about 31 gigs in just over 20 minutes if that works out correctly). The write speed from yet another firewire drive over the network was 32 MB/s.

I had thought, well maybe the 4pin to 6pin cable was a bottleneck or something but such does not seem to be the case now. Choice of OS seems to be the bottleneck. It would be interesting if anyone had similar results or differing results, and maybe find out what, if anything can be done to get the speed up on 7RC. Doesn't bo... Read more

Recently I haven't been sure if my 8800GTX performance hasn't been 'up-to-scratch'. I bought my system from DELL featuring :
600GB HDD, 3GB RAM, 8800GTX 768MB, 425W PSU (!), Intel Quad Core 2.4Ghz

I'm getting around 40fps on Crysis if I run on 1440x900, mostly on High GFX but I think it is suppose to run better than that and cope with All High GFX at 60fps? I have DX10 and Windows Vista (although I dont know how much XP will improve the fps)

Also 3DMark06 rated the GPU at 11306 but my friend told me his similar system had scored 16,000 on the 3DMark06.

I'm not sure if it is Vista/DX10 that may be possibly causing the drop in fps (if any) or if it's DELL's cheap hardware, straightaway I think the PSU isn't enough to cope and I ran a temp. test getting 57C core temp. and 43C ambient temp. So overclocking isn't an option, atleast I don't think?

Is there anyway to specify what problem I have or is it clear that my DELL computer just has crappy hardware (from what I've read of other DELL systems). My DELL System is the XPS 420 for anyone who knows or has the same system.

Thanks for any help,
I'm a noob!

A:8800gtx Fps?

With VISTA, you're going to take a performance hit, so I'd say that 40 fps is right on the money. One other item to mention is that the psu just isn't up to snuff. You need at least a 500 watt or more psu to run that beast. I have an 8800 GTX card and when it's taxed, it sucks the power.

I was just enjoying a transatlantic flight in a 747 on my Flight Simulator when I was starting my descent from flight level, my graphics cards started tearing and artifacting out of their minds. Since they are both watercooled and haven't gotten over 55C ever I don't see it as a heat problem. Especially after I have read that these cards get over 100C on aircooled cases. I took each card out and tried them seperately and they worked fine. Put them both back in the case and they worked fine again for about 5 hours when the tearing started again, albeit nowhere near as badly as the first time. Have the 169.21 WHQL drivers installed (the latest and greatest) Any ideas?????

The GPU is watercooled, however artifacts and tearing are generally caused by the video memory modules. These might be running too hot. Is your watercooled system cooling them as well?

So earlier today I was working in Blender (in windows) when artifacts start appearing all over the screen. Then it freezes for a little bit and I get a BSOD about the display driver timing out (no "display driver has stopped responding and recovered" errors!). After that, while Windows can boot up, almost immediately after logging in, I get the same BSOD. It's the same thing over and over again. Figuring it's odd driver problem, I boot into safe mode (and everything works fine here), and reinstall the drivers. But nope, same thing. Almost immediately after logging in, BSOD. So I remove absolutely all traces of Nvidia drivers on the system, and try downgrading an earlier driver version (190). Same problem. By now I've tried a ton of different Nvidia drivers (even beta ones) to no avail. However, as long as the drivers aren't running, Windows is jolly, even when not in safe mode.

What has me even more concerned now is that the Linux drivers aren't working anymore. In both OpenSUSE and Ubuntu (latest versions), almost immediately after logging in with the proprietary Nvidia drivers enabled, X11 goes down for the count (screen becomes garbled for a split second, then the monitor goes into sleep mode as if it weren't receiving any signal), and I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. However, without the Nvidia drivers enabled, everything works perfectly fine.

This has just started happening suddenly for no apparent reason... I haven't even changed any hardware or setting... Read more

I'm having problems with my new 8800GTX. If I plug the monitor in the right port, (from facing the front of the computer), my monitor has a yellow tint. In the left port, my monitor has a purple tint. The yellow, (and maybe the purple), seems to be caused by my VGA-DVI converter not connecting fully and being too loose, however, I'm using the same converters that came with my 8800GTS and it worked fine then. I had this problem before and after I updated my drivers.

I was wondering if this is a plausible reason, and if there is something else I should try.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that I already tried swapping the converter with a new one, (I'm not sure if it came with my 8800GTS though), and it made no difference. However, I believe the new one is missing several pins.

EDIT 2: I tried switching to a new monitor, but it did not help.

(usually am a value minded type of guy when it comes to video cards ie 7600 gt kinda guy) I never actually spent more than $200 on a single video card and decided to take the plundge into the extreme market.

So the question is this, how much better is the 8800gtx compaired to the 8800gts ?

I can get a GTX for $619.00 or the GTS for $459 at newegg wich to buy though ????? Both cards are more than enough for any game in existance and the GTX for sure blows 2 7900GTX in SLI out of the water.

I for one would be the first guy to buy the cheaper of the two cards but for around $200 more is the GTX that much better ? And since I do have the cash for the GTX will I be kicking myself if I dont buy it ?

Although I will probably be kicking myself anyways when they will most likley release a 8900GTX in a month or so LoL

Any insight to help me make a choice would be great

Thanks Guys and Gals

A:8800GTX or 8800GTS ???

Ah, the endless debate

I have a 7800GT. I bought it when the 7800 lineup was top of the line and had the option of the GT or the GTX. Same as you, the GT lineup was much cheaper. I have no regrets. The 7800GT is still an amazing card today and plays all games on high to mid-high settings.

Others may disagree, but I say get the GTS and save the $170. As you said, the GTS is still going to slice through any game out now like butta.

EVGA 8800GTX (probably be OCing myself using stock cooler on card)
2gb corsair xms series DDR2 800 RAM
1 7200 RPM Western Digital Hard Drive
1 DVD burner
1 Abit Mobo running new P35 chipset
3 case fans ( 1x 120mm 2x80mm, all with blue ED)
6 blue LEDs built into case

can this powersupply handle all of that? (i'm worried cuz of the overclocking)

That psu has 41amps. Your call, I have no idea about power requirements for quad-core cpu's.

I currently have an eVGA 8800GTS 640 and i want to step up to a GTX, my only concern is that my CPU (AMD FX-62) may bottleneck it, can anyone confirm or refute this?

A:Will my CPU bottlneck a 8800GTX?

You have an eVGA 8800GTS 640 and you are upgrading to an 8800GTX? If you can run the GTS well you shouldnt have too much of a problem. I dont think there is much of a difference between the two cards except memory.

Hello everyone, I'm new here.
I might be wrong but I think my video card is dying. Today while reading through dome forums my PC crashed with BSOD, when restarted my BIOS covered in horizontal lines and dots. I cannot log in normal Windows mode as it's crashing only safe mode is ok. I tried to update nvidia driver but no luck and also everytime I do this getting message: "stereo server has not been properly installed". I've also attached dump file if that can help.
My system:
E6600 @ 2.4
4GB ram
Asus P5B-Deluxe
Geforce 8800GTX
Vista Home Premium 32bit

If my video card is dying I don't mind (don't have choice really) buying new one but just want to make sure that's the problem.
Please any advice
Thank you

Make sure the card is not overheating. Clean out the fan if it is dusty. Also, reseat it in the slot.

would 2x 7600gt 256mgb match the new 8800gtx 756mg(or the 320mgb)??
if not then could some1 tell me which 2x sli would match them thanks

A:sli matching 8800gtx...

Single 8800GTX or GTS beats dual 7900GTXs. Dual 7600GTs are beaten by a single 7900/7950GT(X). A single 8000 series would probably beat 8 7600GTs, if it were possible to have octo-SLI.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX and I'm getting quite strange shadow problems in Battlefield 2. It is as if the shadows have no anti-aliasing and they are incredibly jaggy. Also, the weapons have strange shadow problems where the shadows spaz out. I have the latest driver from Nvidia. I have Windows XP Professional Ed. x64, an Intel C2D E6600, 680W PSU, and an Intel P965. If anyone else, with an 8800GTX, that once had this problem, or still does, please post back. Thanks. :grinthumb

A:8800GTX problems

I've heard of some people having strange rendering problems in bf2(and other games) with gf8 cards. Have you tried the newest nvidia driver? It claims to have improved game compatibility.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_97.92.html

Release notes say fixes "Battlefield 2: Intermittent random z fighting problems on the terrain"

Hope this gets you running smoothly.

Edit: it also says that the one problem with bf2 hasn't been fixed yet, here's the quote: " Battlefield 2: Corruption and flickering occur in the grass when video settings are set to High."

Hi,

I have 8800gtx on my system at the moment, an i'm planning to buy quadro fx v**** (don't know yet ) for 3d applications I use. I was wondering is it possible to use them at the same time? For example, when I'm working I switch to monitor's input1, and when I wanna play to input2, or something like that...

Ok, I was worried about my currant system being a bottlneck for this card, but it hasnt prooven to be as bad as I thought...

Currantly I am getting an average of 98-106 fps on FEAR maxed out.

Cant imagine my FPS when I combine it with aCore 2 Duo one of these days.

Id list more games, but FEAR is all I have been playing latley. Well a buddy of mine played WoW for a bit on it and that looks pretty good too at max AA and AF

As you may have read in my other posts, I did order a 8800GTS due to the bottleneck thing I said above, but I installed the GTX first, I fell in love and let me tell you it aint coming out LoL The only sucky thing is that the customer that wanted to buy a gaming machine for his kid backed out now I have a GTS sitting here. Anyone want to buy it for $400 ? Figure by the time i ship it back and pay the restocking fee thats what it will come down to anyways.

Whaddya think?? R600 vs 8800GTX? Looks like another pwnage ATI card!

http://level505.com/2006/12/30/the-full-ati-r600-test/

And 115GB/S memory bandwidth with 1800MHz GDDR3... and 140GB/s with 2200MHz GDDR4 coming in march... hope that's true.

A:ATI R600 Vs 8800GTX

Poll mb? I think R600 because it will be more mature (-drivers) And I dont understand why nVidia didnt use GDDR4, it is out and smart to use.

Hi.

I am thinking of getting a new graphics card my PC as I currently use a integrated one.

I want to know which would be better, I used to have a 8600GT 512mb and that was good but which is better.

512-MB 8600GT or
768-MB 8800GTX or
512-MB Radeon X3870

Which would be recommend as I am watching them all on eBay and have be allowed to make offers for them.

would the Radeon X3870 be a HD 3870 or the an old Radeon?
Thanks in advance, this site always helps

A:8600GT vs 8800GTX vs HD X3870

the 8800GTX out of those 3 but you should get a 9800GTX+. the 9800GTX+ has about the same performance as the 8800GTX but its way more power efficient

Hello all,

I have a 8800GTX and a decent spec pc to match (so there aren't any substantial bottlenecks) but I've recently bought a 1920x1200 monitor, so my games are running a bit slower than they used to...

I've heard CF and SLI are best for higher resolutions, my MB supports CF but not SLI.

Is the 4870 worth it? Or am I going to have to pay a lot to see a reasonable gain?

Regards,

Alex.

A:Upgrading my 8800GTX, worth it?

A single HD 4870 will give you good performance at that resolution. For more power, the GTX 280 is the next best choice.

System-

Windows 7 64Bit
Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte EX58-Extreme Motherbaord (Latest BIOS)
Corsair RAM (2 GB x 3)
Corsair Nova 250GB SATA + 1 TB Western Digital Hard Drive (No RAID)
Nvidia 8800GTX
850W Power Supply (Cooler Master)
Liquid Cooling with no overclocking.

Problem:

I re installed OS and did a lot of troubleshooting using Driver Verifier and my BIOS settings. What I finally learnt is that everything is stable except my Nvidia 8800GTX.
I had no problems (even with Driver verifier) when I installed VGA Driver for 8800GTX. But when I install the Nvidia Drivers (WHQL) I get a BSOD as boot time.
I even ran Driver verifier only for 1 driver that is Nvidia and it BSOD. But when I ran driver verifier for all other drivers system was stable.

SO, the main problem is Nvidia 8800GTX.

What I tried?
I tried 5+ drivers from Nvidia and MSI with no luck. I tried firmware upgrade and no luck. My graphics card use Liquid cooling and temps are fine (below 60) so it is not heat issue. I always get BSOD pointing to IRQL and it seems like a issue with my graphics card trying to access memory. Memory is fine (Memtest Pass for 8 hours).

Please tell what should I do to fix this issue.

A:Nvidia 8800GTX BSOD

Hi

You've pretty much covered the basics (if not all) in trying to isolate the problem.
My suggestion would be to try another Nvidia card just to verify or confirm if your current card is still working.

Hey all, I have the chance to snap up 2 XFX GeForce 9600GT for just over 100 pounds.

My question is, is it worth it for me to replace my 8800 gtx with these 2 cards? will there be a majour increase in games or none at all?

I have an xfx 680i sli board
3gb corsair dominator
and a q6600 processor.

I would apreciate any comments ASAP because the offer wont be there long. Thanks

A:2 Geforce 9600 vs 1 8800GTX

Here is a benchmark that compares the two:

It looks like the 9600 sli beats the 8800 gt by a fair bit.

Ok, here's ridiculously specific question.

I currently have an XFX geforce 7900gt graphics card.

I was wondering if anyone would know which if the two options would give me better performance considering the price it would cost me to upgrade.

I can either;

Buy another 7900gt and run the two in SLi for about 150

or

Buy a 8800gtx for 370

I realise the 8800 would probably be better and give me more scope for upgrading in the future, but considering the price, would the SLi idea be a worthy compromise? Also consider, for someone who's fairly new to PC gaming, I'm somewhat of a frame rate perfectionist (and I have my eyes set on next gen games such as Crysis).

Thanks for your time.

Harry

A:Geforce 8800gtx vs 2x7900gt in SLi

My guess is that the single 8800GTX would be better than dual SLI 7900GTs. I guess the cost thing is up to you. You could always go for a 640MB 8800GTS or a 320MB 8800GTS.

You could always buy a new card and sell your old 7900GT on eBay or something.

Regards
