[SOLVED] problem with adobe reader and adobe flash player

Q: [SOLVED] problem with adobe reader and adobe flash player

Hi,

I have Windows Vista 32 bit and from the beginning I have problems opening pdf's from internetsites: my computer suggests that I install the recent version of Adobe what I did (succesfully as adobe says). I tried some of the suggestions I found on the internet: uninstall - install, execute as administrator, change the compatibility to Windows server pack 2, upgrated the internet explorer, but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot, Swaantje

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here is a link to a cool Adobe Reader alternative http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php the program is not even close to half the size of Adobe's Reader.

What type of problem are you having with flash player?

In this case, the problem is Adobe Flash more than Adobe/Acrobat Reader. A:Solved: Adobe flash player down load problem

Try this:

Download the Flash Uninstaller from Adobe here and save the file to your desktop.
Close all browser windows, instant messaging clients, webcam or chat software. If any of those are running, this won't work. That includes anything that shows up in the 'System Tray' at the lower right (near the clock).
Double click the flash uninstaller. Let it run. When if finishes, restart your computer.
After restart, go get the latest Flash Player here.
Watch out for the checkbox---the installer will also install another toolbar you may not want if you don't uncheck the box.
After Flash is reinstalled, I'd restart the computer again and see how it goes.

Hi,
I'm running a laptop with Vista.

I updated to Adobe flash player 10.1.53.64 (NPAPI) last month, since then I've noticed a deterioration in the quality of video streaming when using firefox. The videos play fine, i.e. they dont skip or freeze, but the picture quality is poor sometimes pixelated.

When using internet explorer the image quality was crystal clear, but I updated to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64 (ActiveX) yesterday, and now when I use IE the picture quality is just as bad as firefox.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks

If I have display problems with Flash Player, what should I do?

If you have display problems with Flash Player, such as poor picture quality or slow display times, deselect Enable Hardware Acceleration in the Display panel. This should eliminate hardware or driver compatibility problems with Flash Player. Flash Player then uses software to scale and display the content.

Hi,
I just bought a now CPU with Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using IE 8
On a few internet sites, I'm told that I need the lastest version of Adobe Flash Player. After I down load it (from the Adobe site),I'm still told that I need it. When I check the un-install a program screen, it's there. When I tried to install the player again, the screen tells me that it's already installed. I also find a "fix" for IE 8 and Adobe Flash Player that I down loaded from there site. Still no luck with IE 8
I installed Goggle Crome on the advise of a friend and the same internet sit that told me to install the player is working find.
Is there any way to get IE 8 to reconize Adobe Flash Player
Mike

A:Solved: Windows 7 IE 8 Adobe flash player problem

Mike, I recently had the same issue. What I ended up doing was using an uninstall utility such as Revo Uninstaller. You can use a search engine to find it or other uninstall utilities that work as well, but this is the one I used. It will run the uninstaller for the program, then it will allow you to scan for additional registry entries as well as residual files and folders left by the program, and then give you the option to remove them. Once I had them removed, I was able to download and re-install the flash player with out any further issues.

Hope this helps.

After doing quite a bit of reading today,I decided that the Adobe PDF viewer is a resource hog. I uninstalled any traces of it I could find in my add/remove programs part of my pc. Just a few minutes ago while reading another post here at BC, I discovered I had to install Adobe Flash player to view an article thru YouTube.
My question is how does flash differ from the pdf viewer? They're both an Adobe thing, right?

I opted to download a small viewer called Sumatra,by the way.

Thanks

Flash version 10.2.153.1 is now available; http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Don't forget to run the uninstaller first!; http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

The first link will provide the version needed by whichever browser you use to access it (an .exe version for Opera and Firefox). In the case of IE I always reject the Google toolbar, allow the Adobe Download Manager to be installed and then follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation. Some sites have an .exe version for IE which other people here seem to have used without problems.

I believe that a new version of Adobe Reader has also been released to deal with the latest security issues.

I updated to Adobe Reader 9.2 from Adobe's website this morning and when I got home, it said Adobe updater needs attention. It was offering to install 8.1.4. Maybe because I haven't restarted yet. I thought that was weird. Several problems trying to open a pdf file after updating. Said tab has been restored and kicked me out of reader a few times. Finally it let me into the PDF and said it was parsing the data or configuring the file for reading or somesuch. I hope it stops behaving badly after a restart. paj692

Adobe has released some information about some big security holes in Adobe software: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/

You can turn off the updater as follows:
1. Load ADobe Reader
2. Go to Edit, Preferences
3. Select Updater at the bottom

A:Adobe Flash Player Problem: HJT log

I was following instructions to come here and post this HJT log because I'm being told my computer IS infected, but the person won't tell me how or where, despite have the log posted elsewhere.

I have had no replies to this post and hope that this information helps.

What created the problem was going to post a blog entry on internetarchive.org. That website told me that in order to listen to an mp3 of a podcast I uploaded I would need adobe flash player and allows for a link to that site, which I clicked on. The flash player download site comes up, but that's it. I can't click on any of the links, or even hit the scroll button to look further down the screen. Clicking anywhere locks up my IE7. Subsequently I can't get the Flash Player.

To date I've tried everything I know from previous help here. I've run IE7 with the -noext, I've disabled the AVG (which had no viri found in the vault with the latest update on it, and even tried turning off XP's security settings, I've run Glary Utilities and cleaned everything that could be cleaned, then went and tried it again.

The end result is the same. The internet is filled with a jillion sites, and this is the only site I can't get to work....and nobody can tell me why it's happening.

Please help!!

I downloaded the latest version(9.0.124.0) of Adobe Flash Player for Netscape. Unfortunately, the programmer used the same generic file name and so it replaced a previous file version on my hard drive which allowed me to view Youtube videos with Netscape 7.2; the new version no longer works. I followed the instructions and used the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller first, closed the Netscape files and installed the latest version-it didn't work. I then followed the Technote (Troubleshooting Adobe Flash Player installer for Windows) and also downloaded & ran SubInACL.msi & Flash_Player_9_ActiveX.zip-still doesn't work.I also ran Flashp8.exe, then IE also stopped working with Youtube. I re-downloaded the IE version of Flash Player and Youtube now works with it. I don't use IE or Netscape 8, so I want to get the Flash Player to work with Netscape 7.2.

I haven't had your problem but I do remember reading somewhere that it could sometimes be necessary to run the uninstaller more than once.

Possibly to do with the fact that there are two versions, the one with Active X and the one without, both of which have the same version number! (currently 9,0,47,0)

I am a vocalist and I do lots of marketing on myspace and the problem I am going to describe really bothers me...

I have Windows XP and I have the latest version of Adobe Flash player installed on my computer... When I am logged into my account and I click on either my profile or someone else's music profile, only 3 songs appear on their player - even though I know there are 4 ( maximum songs allowed on their player is 4 ). But then if I click into the player itself on the bottom where it says "Standal one player" another player pops into the left corner of my screen and it displays the 4 songs just like its supposed to be. What I don't understand is when I am on a different computer per example at my work, then I see the 4 songs right away.

so I am guessing something is wrong in my settings and I can't figure it out. I am virus free as well... So anyone can pitch in their thoughts on this?

I appreciate you guys very much!

A:Problem with Adobe Flash Player.

Hi Amethyste,

the latest version of the Flash plugin does have problems with some sites. If all was well before updating the latest version, it may be an idea to remove it and install version 8 again as it's the most stable release.

You can download version 8 here.

If you have any problems removing your current version, you can use the Flash Player uninstaller which you can grab here.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask :)

I'm not able to keep Adobe Flash Player working. It is updated to the latest version. This first started occurring around the end of August. Until then I'd never had this problem before.I thought that maybe it was just a bad download so I uninstalled and re installed.Still no luck. Have done this a couple times.I use 32 bit .Non IE version.I run all of my scan's and they come up clean. My computer is updated. This is the message I get after a box pops up saying that Adobe Flash Player is shutting down. And that Windows will notify if a solution is available :Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Hi AngelGray,The only other approach that I could suggest would be for you to download and run the Adobe Flash Uninstaller. This will remove all versions of Adobe Flash from all browsers. Next, download and run the current stable version of Flash Player 11.4.402.287 (Non-IE).Finally, make sure that you have the most current version of your Non-IE browser (i.e Firefox 16.0.1).

Adobe have not released a 64-bit version of flash player as yet. You still have to use 32-bit browsers to view flash content.

Not exactly sure how to describe my problem but essentially one day when we booted up, started IE, and it went to the normal RoadRunner home page, we suddenly got a RR page up that said we need to upgrade Flash Player. There was a button tab there to download the new version of FP. I did, the download started, but never finished. I repeated the process, still would not complete.I backed out, closed RR, killed my ZA firewall, etc. went to the Adobe download site, and attempted to download new version of FP again. Same result.I downloaded the FP un-installer tool, un-installed FP, went back to the download site, attempted to download FP again, same result. Went thru this scenario several times with same result so I am not sure if I have the upgraded version of FP or not. If I go to my control panel, add/remove programs, I see Adobe Flash Player Active X listed there but there is no bytes or file size listed. Now, anytime I start IE, the page pops ups saying I need to upgrade FP. I am not sure if my problem is with IE, FP, or other but suspect it is a problem with IE. My wife's remote access to her company network suddenly would not work. Not sure if that issue is related to the IE/FP issue or not, but it all occurred at the same time.I downloaded FireFox and have been using it as my brouser. All websight pages I go to display fine. I have run Spyware Blaster, Spybot S&D, etc. and the computer appears to be clean. The computer is a several year Dell Dimension 8250 de... Read more

Every few minutes a get I UAC popup asking me if I will allow Adobe Flash Player

to change settings on my computer. I don't even have Adobe Flash Player

installed because when I did I couldn't open SWF files with it so I uninstalled

Adobe Flash Player 10 and the Plugin and used the portable version of Adobe

Flash Player. I even suspected the portable version as the cause of the UAC

popups but deleted that too and I still get them. All I have of Adobe's product is

the Adobe Reader yet something interpreted as Adobe Flash Player by Windows

7 pops a UAC every few minutes. I used a registry cleaner also so I have no idea

what is causing it. I could turn my UAC's off completely but that may not be a good

idea. Can anyone help with this?

This started recently. I noticed that when I watched videos on youtube they'd be kinda choppy. Like the audio would keep going but the video would stop for a second or two. At first I thought it was youtube because of heavy traffic but it does it on other flash based players. I ran clean up! and spybot S&D and my antivirus but nothing. I tested it on another computer account and it worked fine but not on my admin account. :[ I redownloaded flash, which didn't help and i also checked for videocard updates but there wasnt any. Help please? I'm running Vista 64-bit.

so.. I have noticed it only occurs on Firefox. Also, Firefox seems to.. lag? Like when I'm typing something in the search bar it takes a second to recognize it. :[ This is a new computer (got it around a month ago) so I don't know what's the problem. I've ran spyware scanss and virus scans and nothing.

It is normal to have to reinstall flash site. Have you tried installing flash again and then browsing to the site to see if it works. Be sure to restart your browser after installing flash. Reboot and browse to the burger king site again and see if that helps.

This program (latest version 11....) is on my computer as an active x for IE and a plugin for Mozilla (which I use the most). Ok fine and good but IT WILL NOT PLAY! I have installed, reinstalled, deinstalled, just about everything; it holds for a couple days then folds. Have AVG anti-virus program, always worked well I thought. But also, thought I would try IE, went to it recently and it isn't working! Today I am in the process of uninstalling all the junk programs on my computer, getting it lean and mean, and then hope to reinstall IE and Adobe flash player. What else can I do? Tried out PC Utility Kit and I think it messed up my files. am baffled; hope this is a good place, haven't been on an online forum in a long time!
Help somebody!!! I will be glad to participate in problem solving if I have any answers! Don't know with this Vista thing.

Is there a restore point prior to installing or did the PC Utility create a restore point prior to "cleaning" your system that you could restore to ?

When using IE8 to access certain sites (like farmville.com), I am advised I need to download the latest Adobe Flash Player for my Vista. I did that, and installed the Active X control when prompted, but still am receiving this error. I tried to downgrade to IE7, but that did not resolve the issue (which just started about 2 weeks ago). I just upgraded back to IE8 and still have the problem. What am I doing wrong? All my Internet Options are at default.

I tried removing Flash by itself, all Adobe programs, and all Adobe Programs and IE8, then reinstalled each one by one starting with IE. I am still experiencing this issue. Since it does not occur when using Firefox, I assume it is some security or privacy setting I have enabled, or disabled, but I cannot figure it out.

I also just recently received assistance in a recent BleepingComputer topic for problems with Windows Explorer crashing. That issue was resolved and I have continued, as I was before experiencing any issues, to scan my system regularly with:

Norton Security Suite (Antivirus, Firewall, etc.)
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Spybot - S&D (manual scans, SD Resident, TeaTimer)
Spyware Blaster
What else can I do to resolve this?

One thing to try would be to go to http://adobe.com and click the download Flash and make sure that you do in fact have the latest version installed.

I currently have Windows XP Pro loaded on my computer. Ever since the last Windows update, I have been unable to load the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. When I go to the Adbobe download site and install it, the site says that installation is complete. However, when I got to another site that uses the flash player, that site will tell me that I need to install the Adobe Flash Player. Is there a setting blocking the flash media?

I was helping a friend install a program yesterday onto her computer that is running Windows 7 Home premium. The program is a local news station's weather desktop alert program. Here is the program:

http://www.whsv.com/liveonline

I have this one on my computer (Windows XP Pro) and it works fine. We installed it fine on her computer, but when she tries to run it and connect to the "interactive radar" option, a pop up says from her IE8 that she needs Adobe Flash player installed. It asked if we wanted to install it, I clicked on Yes. Tried this several times, and each time, the radar area did not load, and we got the same pop up.

We browsed to my website that has a flash advertising banner ( http://www.themanestreet.com/forums/index.php ) and got the same pop up and the same problem of the flash area (in this case, a banner) being blank.

So, I went to the Adobe Flash website and downloaded Adobe Flash from there. The website said it had been installed correctly.........but when we went back to the radar option, we had the same results as before.

I am using Firefox and Windows XP.........it's been a LONG time since I've done much with IE and I am not really that familiar with Windows 7.

Suggestions?

Hello people-- I just tried updating adobe flash player on my home page of yahoo.com. Now on the top of my bhrowser it says adobe flash is out of date or run this time only or update?? But I thought I just updated it by going to the adopbe site. But before u answer- there are a few things I must mention. I am running Windows VISTA and use the browser google chrome . My computer works marvelously and has been so for many many years. I really have no problem. But for some stupid reason I listened to one site and updated flash player and now on certain web sites I get that broken puzzle piece in the middle of the box instaed of a video?. Is there a fix for this- or a way around this?? Please advise. I did go into task manager and under services I clicked on adobe flsh player updater and then on services on the bottom right and changed adope flash player update service to automatic-but that little extra bar under my address br still pops up saying flash player out of date- click here to update or run this time only and nothing happens. I just want this to go away. also like i said since I am on vista- google chrome is also out of date- so i just dismiss this-- and I have NO problem AT ALL. (If it aint broke dont fix it as they say) Vista has been great for me so I will not change until really necessary.
