I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For a couple of months now I have had small square ads appear in the bottom part of my browser windows (all browsers on this machine... chrome IE and Firefox) Below is a screenshot of said ads.I have run everything I can think of... MalwareBytes, TDSS killer, my native McAfee, Combo Fix, RogueKiller... Poured over Hijack this logs... Usually something is found virus wise as a randomly named alphanumeric.exe program in the Roaming folder of my User ApData section. As per forum instructions, I am not including any reports in this thread, just let me know if I can provide anything to help. I'm at my wits end on this one.Oh, and operating Windows 7

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere.

I have a Dell GX Piece of $H!t and when I boot it up all I get is a flashing white line in the top left hand corner. I don't see a BIOS screen. Am happy to install linux on it - just need to get to the BIOS screen so I can boot up off a USB drive.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks,

Not sure if anyone has this problem. When I lift up the laptop by the bottom left hand corner (on the left of the track pad), the screens blacks out and flickers. No way to recover except to power off.I tried to repeat by lifting it on the right side of the pad. No issue.Hardware problem?Any advise is greatly appreciated.

A:Holding X240 by bottom left hand corner causes screen to black out and flicker

Hi, I had this problem several times as well. First time it happened was I picked up my x240 (with lid open) from the corner to the left of the trackpad, and the screen flickered and crashed. The x240 crashed the same way when I was using the x240 on my lap, while resting my left elbow to the left of the trackpad, supporting my chin reading the a document on the screen. I think the crash happens when there's pressure to the area to the left of the trackpad. It would be great if anyone else could replicate the same problem, and hopefully somone can find a fix!

Okay so let me start by saying I'm not a very good computer person. However, I've noticed these popu-ups in the bottom corner of Chrome and they are driving me crazy. The only extensions I'm using are AdBlock, Adblock Plus (can anyone tell me the difference?), and SiteAdvisor from McAfee.

From here, I have no clue what to do. Chrome is the only browser I use so I'm not sure if the pop-ups are in any other browsers. I also have no clue where to find my system information or anything, so I'm sorry.

Any help I can get would be fantastic!

Basically, I have pop up in the right hand and left hand corners. Some recommending stuff, and some pertaining to whatever website I happen to be looking at. This week I noticed a red x on the bottom right hand corner of screen. When putting the mouse over it, a box came up that said "Your Computer has been infected with spyware" (looked like something official from microsoft, but I know it is a bad link). I already had Superantispyware downloaded on my computer, so I updated it, rebooted, and ran the program. Once it identified the infected files, I deleted them, rebooted. Still having issues though. Thanks for any help!!!

1) Every time I open up my internet browser using Firefox or Chrome a pop up ad related to the website appears on the bottom right hand corner of the browser. It sometimes shaped as an iPhone or a square box.

2) I also experience with redirects to other websites when I click a link on a website

Hi

I've seen this problem posted a few times before but it seems to be that every case is slightly different so any help would be greatly appreciated. I keep getting redirected to sites I have no intention of going to, alongside this, I am getting alot of ads pop up in the bottom right hand side of my browser. Both problems as i'm sure alot of people know are extremely annoying.

So far i've run both MalwareBytes and Spybot, but neither seem to solve the problem. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1 (Build) 7600) and i'm using Firefox 13.0.1.
Thankyou

I'll attach a pic, but it is hard to see. Just today, I heard a pop as I opened my Yoga. Seems the the bottom left hand corner of the screen has separated from its "backing" (not exactly sure how to describe this.) I did see a report of something that was vaguely familiar with a different machine and someone mentioned it could be a bad hinge. I can flex it all the way back to tablet mode. The screen flexes up the entire way (so I'm not doing that again). When I bend the opposite direction (toward closed) the aluminum casing separates from the small plastic tab with the rubber foot. I'm happy to attempt to purchase a hinge and change it, but if anyone can give a relatively definitive answer either way, that would be great. Oh, and, my warranty ended 42 days ago. So there's that. Also, where would I source this?  Thanks in advance, krm

I was getting BSODs that said Stop 000000x08 and the affected program was iaStor.sys Although I was unable to delete it. I can't even start in safe mode. Whenever I try to start at all it takes me to a BSOD and immediately shuts off. I can't even read what it says. I've been driving myself crazy over this. Plus, I've reinstalled 2 os because that's what I've read to do. I just don't know what to do. I think it may be my hard drive but have no idea how to check. Thanks for any help. In order to test the hard drive you can run one of the diagnostic programs below. The files, in ISO format, will need to be burned to a CD using a program that can burn CD image files.

WD Support / Downloads / Select Product

Could also be a drive controller/motherboard issue but run the diagnostics first.

Hi all. I posted in "Am I infected? What do I do?" and was told, after running a few programs I was instructed to, to come here and post a thread. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. Recently (maybe 2-3 days ago) I've been having the Google Redirect problem.. I've had this problem on this computer before, but fixed it with system restore. This time around, I guess I waited too long and a day later I got hit with the hide all programs virus, but I fixed that with the unhide.exe from this site. Just yesterday, I started getting ads playing with just audio, and no programs open. These ads play maybe every 30 mins to an hour. Same goes for the ads in the right hand corner of Firefox, but this is constant. AVG has been giving me error messages of a trojan, from c:\Windows\System32\Services.exe, but only gives me an option to ignore and not remove the virus. The threat name, according to AVG is "Trojan horse Dropper.Gerneric_c.MMI" and it says "Detected on open." I don't know if these problems go hand in hand, so sorry if it's off topic a little. Hi guys,i have a problem, i was working on this PC that had a problem. the problem was - when it is turned on,nothing comes on.There is a black screen and blinking cursor (looks like an under-score) [blink]_[blink]that just keeps blinking.Okay this is what I did. I thought the hard disk was damaged, I get a brand new hard disk drive (SATA) and inserted in, and start installing the System Restore Discs and Operating system CD, it is a HP Compaq Desktop dx2200 MT.Every thing goes perfectly well, it starts up fine, XP is installed up and running, all other software are being installed. It all looks great up until I slave the original hard disc in order to copy back the users files back onto the new disc. By the way all copying goes well until the PC suddenly freezes, it doesn't respond to all the keyboard keys or the mouse whatsoever, even pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL in an attempt to open the the Task Manager doesn't work. I turn of the PC by pressing the power button. Remember there are 2 hard discs connected now in the PC, Master and Slave, both are SATA.When I turn it on, the blinking starts again.I try removing the original hard drive (the one I slaved) and still it doesn't boot correctly. I try booting either of them alone, still nothing,I don't think it is a virus problem, because I installed Sophos and had it updated straight after the OS, and if I had connected the slave hard disk it could had detected it.these are things I have tried.1.Removed RAM card and p... It's a Compaq system...did you check the Compaq support site?

From what I see, HP system have proprietary boot mechanisms...which isn't necessarily good for what may be the problem.

My guess is that the MBR is damaged, Black Screen (fixmbr) - http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;314503. Using the fixmbr command from the XP Recovery Console of a MS Genuine XP CD...is the normal cure.

But you have a Compaq and I don't know if that command would be effective with your system.

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this question. My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything.

Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now? I'm really upset because I had five years of photos of my grandchildren. =(

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

I have a blue screen problem. Don't know if I should post it here or not but here is my problem.

I have windows 8. I updated to 8.1. So far so good. That is until this morning. I don't know if this is in fact a Windows 8.1 issue or if anyone has ever experienced this before. I turned on the computer. I got the 'Hi' message followed by the next message of windows getting my apps updated. I then had a blank blue screen with a 'start' in the top left hand corner and an arrow in a box pointing to the next page. On the next page I had APPS on the top left hand corner and a blank box. I typed in 'desk top' even tho' that is not an 'app' as such. It took me to a blank black page with a bin in the top left hand corner. It looked liked my machine had been completely wiped. This has never happened before and I tried to Google it but the answers given did not have any correlation to what happened to me...any clues anyone?" Sorry guys, I just reread my post....I forgot to say that my computer has been functioning as normal all day .. What I did was to turn it off and back on again and it worked as normal. The thing is, I don't now trust it and want to know what? why and is it something I need to address.

Dear BleepingComputer,I've been having this problem since last weekend. I've been on this same Dell laptop for about 2 years and haven't had any problems until now. I don't know the name of this so I won't assume but from my "layman" eyes, it looks like periodic, brief, "flashing", small pop-up boxes in the lower righthand portion of my screen above the systray and sometimes in the upper righthand corner at the same time. Twice a larger, I would say "regular", pop-up window appeared and both times it was an ad for "The University of Liverpool" and the URL was "www.adtegrity.com". I've run through all of the steps as advised in the preparatory stage and I'm still getting these pop-ups. Hi SuyimarLets get the ball rolling Step 1Download ADWCleaner to your desktop:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and get an alert that stops the program downloading, click on the warning and allow the download to complete.Close all programs and click on the AdwCleaner icon.Click on Scan and follow the prompts. Let it run unhindered. When done, click on the Clean button, and follow the prompts. Allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report. Copy & Paste this report on your next reply. The report will be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.Step 2Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Hey guys, i honestly can't believe how many people are having this issue, so simply once and for all... there is an easy solution to this problem. You do not need to uninstall/reinstall anything, change bios, get a new graphics card (in most situations, only significantly old graphics cards cannot play this game on minimum settings), or anything.

To fix... go into properties, compatibility and tick the box that says run in 640x480resultion... this minimizes the work the GPU needs to do and tricks the game into thinking it is adequate. In game, you can then alter the resolution to the correct one for your monitor.

Hey guys,

I recently had the moneypak FBI virus and cleaned my registry using Ccleaner and also cleared my Temp files manually (which actually got rid of the problem).

Since I cleared this, the top left hand corner of my screen (roughly 2 icon squared in size) does not allow any direct clicking or interaction. The area is not obstructed by any objects and I can still drag things out of that area as long as my cursor is on an area outside of said area.

This affects all programs I use, including my browsers, Steam and Explorer.

I realise I have probably deleted a registry file I shouldn't have but have had no luck finding any other people who have had the same problem, any help you guys can offer would be most appreciated! Cheers!

Hello there

So after installing and tweaking windows 8, some small annoyances remain. One of them that i encounter every day is as follows:
I have 2 monitors. Primary on the right, secondary on the left.
If i take my cursor up to the top left of the primary monitor, it gets "stuck" and will not move over to the left hand screen (secondary monitor). I believe this is caused by the APP bar which I have disabled as per (http://www.ghacks.net/2012/08/19/disable-windows-8-mouse-over-corner-interfaces/).
However the problem still remains. If i go aproximately 10 pixels down from the upper left hand corner, i can mouse over to the other screen fine. No menu comes up, my cursor just hits a wall. I have made sure both montior tops are in line in the screen resolution
screen.

I tried to shoot a video of it, but of course camstudio does not work in windows 8 (sigh).
steps to reproduce are, drag your mouse to the very top left corner with the intention of moving it to the second monitor.
How can i disable? I have tried the GPO setting for EdgeUI which creates the registry key ( DisableTLcorner) in the link above.

As a bit of background, if one is constantly using VNC to manage other peoples computers, I do not want to steal focus from their mouse by dragging my cursor over the centre of the screen. So i bring my mouse cursor to the very top (title bar area) and try
and move between screens. Obviously this is a windows 8 "feature". Anyone else a... Read more

A:Cannot mouse over upper left hand corner on dual monitors

Um no, I have never in my life found that installing a monitor driver ever fixed anything.

there is nothing in the application log that has anything to do with this problem as its a mouse event. No event is obviously generated when i am moving the mouse around the screen.

you cannot reproduce? I have installed a few more windows 8s and the problem exists on every single one.

here is a video of the event. Finaly got camstudio working properly, just have to do the whole screen. in the video, i try and move the mouse in the upper left and lower left of the screen. the two screens are different wallpapers to make it easier to see.
I have managed to find a service that allows uploads, the video file is here so you can see what im talking about. I hope that makes it clearer.
