E-mail Malfunction

Q: E-mail Malfunction

I'm getting the errror messages pictured in the screen shots below (also incliding shot of Windows Version). The e-mail sticks on "Authorizing". I am able to log on to comcast.net and get my mail that way but cannot receive on my regular e-mail. I'm using Windows Mail on Vista 32 bit. Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: E-mail Malfunction

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Fred44,
I had issues with my comcast e-mail and had to initiate live chat and have them fix me up. They gave me the settings to put in to get mine working.
So, i am thinking this would be easiest way to resolve your issue.

2 days ago my windows mailbox could not receive or send mail. So I called tech support from at&t. After some adjustments I was able to resceive and send mail. BUT...all of a sudden I had an 30,000 incoming messages from the past 3 yrs. I thought that I had permanently erased those messages long ago. So I deleted the 30,000 messages. But they wont go away and keep flooding my mailbox over and over again. Now I cannot use my windows mailbox at all. How can I resolve this? Thankyou Dave

A:windows mail malfunction/please help

its a big mess but its a matter of cleaning up really is all.
1st - are you able to send & receive mail with no problem?
if yes, then start deleting all that old mail. i dont think theres an easy way to go about it.
afterwards in your windows mail. go to ....
> Tools > Accounts > Select the appropriate one at a time > Properties > Advanced ....
Here you have a few options.
You can select either ...
• " Remove from the server after ? Days "
• " Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted items' "
Hopefully this helps.
anothet thing you can do is, if possible, go online and log into your email account from the providers site.
Delete all the old messages from there too.

I recently purchased an HP ProBook 450 G3. I am using two passport compact 1 TB drives with my laptop's two USB 3.0 ports. In normal use there is no problem. However, when I copy a lot of data from one to the other (or from one to the laptop's internal drive) the drives keep disconnecting. I know this because first I will get a copying error saying either the source or the destination is missing. Then I will hear the "chime" that Windows makes when a USB device connects or disconnects. Then the autoplay window for the Passport drive will appear. It seems that it spontaneously disconnects and then reconnects. I can continue using it for a time afterward, but it always spontaneously disconnects at some point, always when I am doing large data transfers.

I wondered if I have a poor physical connection---the USB plugs seem a bit loose. I checked if there is any vibration or movement that could break the connection, but so far there is no evidence that anything is moving. The disconnection always happens when a lot of data is being transferred, while the drives are sitting completely still.

Any ideas how to debug this?

A:Hard drive malfunction? USB port malfunction? Or just normal?

This is a hard situation to diagnose from a distance IMO. "Loose" is somewhat subjective, and barring serious abuse the only kinds of usb connectors & ports I've ever seen fail mechanically are mini and micro USB2 types.

I'd be inclined to suspect the drives first, especially if they are from the same family and were produced around the same time (the "bad batch" phenomenon). Have you tried to reproduce the problem on other machines, or with different drives on your machine?

I'm looking to have every e-mail that reaches my old @aol.com e-mail account automatically forwarded to my new @aol.com e-mail account. I'd like it to be forwarded automatically, without delay, so that as soon as the e-mail hits my old account, a copy of it is then also immediately and automatically forwarded to my new @aol.com account. Can that be set up somehow?

A:I'm looking to have every e-mail that reaches my old @aol.com e-mail automatically forwarded to my new @aol.com e-mail.

Wow, haven't logged into AOL in a while... heh.

Anyway, couldn't find anything on their webmail gui that allows for forwarding.

So, barring help from them, the only other suggestion is to use something like gmail to handle what you're trying to do here. It would go along the lines of, setup a gmail account, use it to download your AOL mail, then use its filters to forward to the new AOL account.

But that begs the question, why don't you just use Gmail?

DEP processing is flaky. Setting /noexecute=OptOut and adding HP digital monitor to the exceptions list does not cause DEP enable for all processes.

No 'restart needed' popup is displayed....
?? CHROME, AVAST, FIREFOX all show DEP (permanent). All others DISABLED.....
?? setting /noexecute=AlwaysOn works, all processes DEP'd, BUT disallows HP digital monitor (can print, cannot scan or retrieve printer info).
I do have Administrator privileges but thought I noticed a popup (IIRC) re two items (processes?) not functioning, CIMV2? perhaps and one other. WBEMTEST checked for DEP 3 (OptOut), verified it was set (I forget the Superclass now, under root/cimv2).
Is this a Startup issue of some kind? Something not loading? GPEDIT under XP not helpful unless DISabling access to various options.
Thanks.... :-/

I have a current issue with my laptop that I would like some assistance on. When I go to play a computer game (such as DOTA 2), the CPU fan malfunctions a few minutes into playing the game and then intermittently switches off then on until I shut the computer off for a while. Is there any way to fix this issue? I have already updated my bios and it did not help.

A:CPU Fan Malfunction

Hi jdendrin,

First and foremost, please post your computer specs. Posting computer specs definitely helps us troubleshoot computer issues more efficiently. What is the brand/model of your laptop? Do you have warranty on your laptop? It's possible that the fan inside your laptop is dying.

Hi sunsandy4u and welcome to TSF,

Have you looked in the Task Manager to see if you have any Yellow marks by the usb hubs on the tree in the left pane? If so, that would indicate a driver problem.

My modem is usb and required a download into it for it to function properly. The software came with the modem. Also, try another usb port if you have one on your computer.

Hope this might help,

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with XP Home Edition on it. All of my drives and devices connect externally and I access them through 3 different USB ports. A week ago I began having problems with my USB ports.

When I turn on my laptop, the devices (a mouse, keyboard and printer) initially are recognized and run well. Then I hear the noise from the comp as if I unplugged a device and my mouse, keyboard and printer are all no longer recognized by the comp. Sometimes I hear the noise as if I plugged them back in, sometimes I don't hear that noise but get an error message saying that my devices are not working properly and need to be replaced. All of my devices are in reality functioning properly. There does not seem to be consistency in when the USB ports stop functioning. During this time I am not touching the connections and at times am not even actively using the comp.

Do I have a trojan virus? or are my USB ports beginning to simply malfunction?
Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I can't do much with a laptop that cannot save a file to a disk or print a file. I have ad ware and spy ware removal tools (ad aware, spybot search and destroy, spyguard) as well as an updated firewall and antivirus (zone alarm suite) running on the comp. No major risks or problems have been found by these programs.

A:USB Malfunction

Try this: Go to start, control panel, system, click the hardware tab, and click device manager, click the plus next to Universal Serial Bus controllers, and right click and click uninstall on any USB root hubs. Then restart your computer and windows should detect your usb and reinstall the drivers.

Hello all,

Well, to get right into it, my PSU conked out. I shut down my computer (Start > Turn Off Computer . . .), it didn't automatically turn off like it normally does. So, I tried the power switch, nothing happened. Finally, I flipped the switch on the PSU. Obviously, it was off now.
The next day, I went to turn it on, and it didn't. I tested the power switch, it was fine, so the next thing to check was the PSU. Took it to a computer service store, they tested it, it was dead. I sent it back to the company, they sent me a brand new one. And that brings us to today.

I installed the PSU in my computer, hooked it up to everything (mb, harddrive, video card, CD-Rom, fans). I pushed the power button, the PSU lit up (it has a lighted fan on it) and the fan went on, this lasted about a second, then it shut off. Well, then I went through step-by-step:
- Connected only the motherboard to the PSU - turned on, stayed on, beeped.
- Connected the motherboard and the larger fan - turned on, stayed on, beeped.
- Connected the motherboard, larger fan, and the harddrive - turned on, stayed on, beeped.
- Connected the motherboard, larger fan, hard drive, and video card - turned on, stayed on, did not beep. (apparently it was beeping because there was no video output.
- Connected the motherboard, larger fan, hard drive, video card, and plugged everything into the back of the computer - turned on, stayed on.
- Connected everything listed above, plus the smaller fan, turned an... Read more

A:PSU Malfunction

Although there are things like power surges and lightning strikes that could kill a PSU, there is really no reason to try to come up with a scenario for what happened. Often they just die and it can be without warning. I think you are saying that now everything works. If the new PSU suddenly quits then you may have a problem that needs to be figured out.

The fan set up looks pretty standard.

Hello everyone, first time poster, so sorry if I mess up ^^

Anyways, I just got a new laptop, specifically a Lenovo 80XS0086IX Ideapad 320-15ABR. Initially it all seemed fine, but as I used it I noticed several problems: 1) it cannot remain in sleep mode for long. After a while, it just switches off abruptly. I have tried several combinations of lid closed/open, power cord in/out, but eventually the result is always the same. 2) When powering it on after these shutdowns, the trackpad does not recognize multiple-fingers gestures, requiring a restart. 3) The disk usage frequently goes up to 100% despite no ongoing activity. 4) Sometimes, pressing the power button to power it on results in the disk starting, then abruptly stopping, then restarting again several times, before the laptop finally starts. 5) The system sometimes freezes for several seconds, even the cursor stops, only to resume any input movement later.

I have tried everything in my knowledge: I updated the BIOS, the HDD firmware, installed all Windows updates, fresh-installed Windows, but nothing seems to work (although the HDD thing apparently solved the "always 100%" problem). I ran both Windows in-built check-disk and third party programs to check for errors on the HDD, but none showed up. I'd be really glad if it was something I can fix at home, since I really need this machine to study, so sending it to be repaired/replaced back at Amazon is my very last option due to time. Hope you guys can h... Read more

My LG monitor is having a problem that has only started yesterday. After turning on my computer is works fine for about 15 minutes then goes black with no indication of it going to sleep mode or anything. I know that it is still receiving power because it has the power indicator light on. Also, when I unplug the screen from the computer and plug it back in it works fine for 15 minutes then goes completely black again.

Now last week my computer got a very bad virus and was taken in and it was removed. I got it back yesterday and this new monitor problem has started... I suspected there may be a problem with the computer itself causing this malfunction, so I plugged the screen into another computer to see what would happen and it is the same story.

Thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I recently installed Windows XP SP2 on my HCL EC2 Desktop PC.
After install I was installing programs and loaded Kaspersky Antivirus. During these installs..I noticed that my keyboard was malfunctioning.
Whenever I Press the comma , key AND if a folder window is open, then by pressing the comma key it switches to the folder window instead of pressing the comma key.

Then later I installed Service Pack 3 on my system, and then my windows was back to normal. Then there was no problem with the keyboard until today. Today my computer crashed and I had to take a force restart due to some updating Kaspersky was doing.

After restart, I had firefox and a folder window and a notepad txt window open. I pressed comma and it switched to the folder windows instead of giving me a comma in firefox. I closed the folder window, and thus can now type the comma... ,

Please can someone help me in how can I fix this error?

Do you by any chance have a wireless or wired microsoft mouse?

I have had a similar issue with my Wired Microsoft Mouse and its "Intellipoint" Driver

Some claim this issue only occurs with the wireless versions of certain microsoft devices. I found that for me, It occur whenever Intellipoint 6.2 was installed. The Same version of Intellipoint also caused my Vista Sidebar to cease working... as detailed here http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista-7/805947-solved-windows-sidebar-crashes-every.html

Anyway if you have a microsoft mouse/device that uses Intellipoint try removing the intellipoint software and checking if the issue still occurs. Or Try upgrading to the latest version of Intellipoint, which at the time of writing is 6.3

i've never had a desktop pc broken down on me while its on, but i've had 2 desktop pcs when i was younger and they all malfunctioned whenever i had turned them off and back on again, the agonizing series of beeps when the bios boot would usually indicate a failure in hardrive or mobo...even though every componet was working fine the day before when i had turned it off. Most of my friends' desktop pcs broke in a similar manner to mine; they were all perfectly funcational, but when the next time they are turned on, something in the mobo breaks/malfunction/fries.

i've read that heat will shorten a desktop pc's lifespan, and that a pc left turned on continuously will experience a shorter lifespan compared to pcs who are regularly turned off and cooled down, however i've learnt from a friend who works in the local library that the internet pcs there for the past 5 years have never been turned off since all 80 or so of them are secured and locked inside the desk drawer and they decided that it would take too much time to have to manually turn them on on each floor one by one. for the record mainframe/severs they are only putted on Sleep mode and its been like this since the library opened 5 years ago and they've only had 6 pcs broken down, meanwhile all my classmates and friends at the university, most with branded pcs like hp and dell all had their pcs replaced on avarge by the third year from when they purchased it, ALL of them having their pc s... A:PC longevity: what usually causes PCs to malfunction?

I turn my computer off when I don't plan on using it for awhile.
My first W98 computer (updated to XP) is still running great .. As great as they ran back then

All components have a failure rating in MTBF .. Mean Time Between Failure .. (Measured in hours)
Why run it all the time and use up the hours ??

Probably the shortest life span components are the Fans, Hard Drive and Monitor .. (CRT or LCD backlites)
Why let it run all the time and collect more dust that means you'll have to clean it more often ..
or have something fail prematurity due to overheating.

So far .. I've had a HDD fail, Two fans and the backlites get weak in two LCD monitors.

Probably the worst culprit is the bearings in the HDD ..
When they start getting sloppy due to age/wear, The HD can start having trouble reading and writing.

This is on a Sony desktop vgc-ra810g with the pci express video. Using a flat screen the image has horizontal frozen lines and is un readable 9 times out of 10. I have updated the bios from the sony web site and also installed a video card update with no positive results. I also have uninstalled/reinstalled the card. I installed a basic matrox pci card and it too had the same problem. The only thing i can do is restart and hope it is readable. Figures this occurs after the 1 year warranty expires. Should have known better when sony was not offering extended warranty. But i was sold by the liquid cooling, low noise and s/pdif out to the stereo. Any ideas would be welcome. I am preparing to jettison the unit.

First time I have run into a problem I could not solve myself. I have a Coby TFTV2224 LCD TV that I am using as a monitor connected by VGA, which is the only port on this emachines POS.

The problem is that no matter what settings I have in nVidia control panel, resolution, refresh, etc.. the screen blinks out and comes back like it was just turned on. The power light never goes off. even better.... the input randomly changes from VGA to component or sometimes AV or HDMI, even more rare it will work fine for a period of time then the tv will randomly mute and unmute itself.

I had thought it was a driver issue, but after installing new drivers for motherboard, chipset, graphics, it seemed to clear up only to come back, not as frequent, but still came back.

I now have a fresh install of Windows 7 with automatic updates done, and nVidia graphics drivers.
What should I do? Where should I turn?

I am using Kaplan test prep for my upcoming registered nursing exam. all was going fine til now. I receive a blank page when trying to create a new test and/or when after taking a practice test I click on the explanation portion, and I get a blank page then too. Talked to their tech person and he couldn't fix it, thinking it maybe some kind of virus. Everything else on my desktop and laptop work fine. Have no clue what the problem is. can you help?

A:help with site malfunction

I moved your thread from Windows 7 to Web & Email.

Can we assume that your OS is Windows 7?

What browser? Have you tried another one?

What may have changed since it last worked OK? Installed or uninstalled an application? An update to something? Etc.?

From one day to another, those two devices dissapeared from My PC in Win 2000.
According to windows, their is a malfunction with both drivers (conected with the same IDE cable), in which windows cannot load their drivers (error called: code 31) for the ATAPI CDROM and the HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8240B devices.

I tried to remove and re-install their drivers (then reboot the system) and nothing happened . Then i tried updating those drivers but the problem still persists.

I would be enormously thankful if some one could help me with this, since i need inmediatetely those devices to work.

I have had bad cables that have done the same thing. Try new cable.
