SanDisk 512MB Secure Digital Ultra II or regular card for Canon A520

Q: SanDisk 512MB Secure Digital Ultra II or regular card for Canon A520

This card will be for my first digital camera, Canon A520 and I wonder if it is worth it to get the Ultra II one.
Also, is there any compatibility issues with this card and the camera?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought a 512 MB Sandisk memory card for my Kodak EasyShare CX7330 digital camera before I went to London. I also brought a 64 MB card with me. I filled both cards, then transferred photos from each onto 2-3 different Dell computers running Windows in a lab overseas. Saved and emailed pictures successfully.

THEN I returned home and successfully transferred pictures from the 64 MB card onto my iMac running Mac OS 10.2.8, but neither that computer nor my friend's Windows PC will recognize the 512 MB card! A guy at Best Buy told me it may be due to a European software format change, but the 64 MB card is fine...so I don't think that is the case.

I can still look through photos on my camera's viewer, or hook it up to the TV and see them that way. But does anyone know of ANY WAY I can save 600+ pictures on ANY computer?? Has the card been corrupted?

I am unable to read my Sandisk Ultra SDHC 8GB camera card with my Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S laptop with XP Professional XP3 Media Centre Edition.

I thought the laptop should have a card reader slot but I cannot find one and when I tried the card with a USB adaptor it was not recognised.

Can anyone help please?

A:Unable to read my Sandisk Ultra SDHC 8GB camera card

Found the following on the Sandisk website.

Other options you can use to read files on your SDHC card
If your computer's card reader is not SDHC compatible, you have 3 options available:

1. You can connect your camera (or other device) that works with SDHC to your computer using a USB cable that came with the camera. You should be able to transfer files to the computer this way.

2. You can contact your computer manufacturer to see if they have a free firmware update for your model that will make it SDHC compatible

3. You can buy inexpensive SanDisk SDHC card readers that will connect to your computer's USB port. Click to expand...

I'm looking at getting a Camera and these are the two that stick out to me. I'm wondering if you guys have any input on which is better. They're both around the same price and have a lot of the same features. The A95 is one megapixel better, but I'm not sure if that will matter to me or not. Can you help me decide?

A:Canon A95 or A520

Go with the A95...well if you decide to print Letter Size photos...then the A95 photos will look way better and clearer. I have the Canon A80 which is just like the A95 but it is only a 4 Megapixel camera. When I print out the photos on letter size there's this fuzz or something around the edges. The 5 megapixel camera wouldn't give you that fuzz. However, if you're going to just be printing 4 x 6" or 5 x 7" photos, then it doesn't matter which camera you use.

I have posted here before about a problem with my Epson Perfection 1650 Scanner (with NewSoft Vista compatible software) suddenly not being recognized by Vista after working just fine for a long period of time. I did everything everyone said, including uninstall, unplug, reboot, reboot, reinstall, etc. but nothing helped, so I completely removed the scanner and all associated software.

In the midst of all this, my Canon A520 Powershot Camera suddenly wasn't being recognized by the Canon software either. I have constantly updated the software from the Canon site and the drivers were always supposedly compatible with Vista. It did work just fine for a long period with Vista. Now the Camera Window suddenly says "Cannot detect camera. Check connection to camera, then retry." I tried accessing it throught the Browser Window, nothing. I unplugged and used a different USB port, nothing. I uninstalled the software, unplugged all USB devices, rebooted, reinstalled the software, then plugged everything back in, still nothing. (I can upload directly from the memory card, but that isn't the point of all this. I want the software too!)

I have an Acer CR-6530 Digital Camera with a 64MB Secure Digital Card that works OK. I have purchased a 1GB SanDisk Card and inserted it, I get the message 'THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED'. I go to Set-up and format the card in the camera, I get the message 'CARD ERROR'. I switch off the camera, and start it it set-up mode, go to Format, execute and then get the message 'processing image' and then OK. i them move to Auto and am able to take pictures OK, which can be shown on the camera and through a card reader on my PC. If I switch the camera off (or it switches off automatically) When I switch it back on I get the same error message 'THIS CARD CAN NOT BE USED', and I have to start over again and lose the pictures that are still on the card.

Any body help with this one?

Well, I'm new and this is my first post on Techspot, so please bear with me...
My problem is that whenever I plug this cruzer, it reads fine and I can see it in the my computer window, then the U3 software loads up and says "an error occured while initializing U3 launchpad: drive is unavailable or unformatted. Launchpad will close now, please format the drive, disconnect the device and try again." I tried but windows cannot complete the format for some reason...I've tried using kill_disk to erase the drive so I can then format it, but It closes up with an error report afterwards...every recovery software I've used keeps saying "bad sectors" and such...My last hope was to use the HP USB Disk storage format tool, and it finds the disk and starts, but then displays a message saying:"device media is write protected" anyone know how I can bypass this? or have any ways of solving this problem?or some software I haven't tried? please help ASAP!

I have a Dell Inspirion 6000 laptop with a SD card slot, XP Pro, SP3. When I plug in 3 different SD cards (16MB, 1GB, 2GB) I get the same error in the device manager. I tried the following:

- Uninstall Device, Reinstall Device
- Tried updating driver, nothing exists per Microsoft
- Found nothing on Dell support

Message in Device Manager - "Device Status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

The cards were verifed on other hardware and I can connect to this PC and read cards using card reader with USB cable. This just started happening within the past 2 months. Hard to pinpoint time because I haven't used slot for a while.

Would it be bad to put a x1800xt in an nForce4 Ultra chipset on an Asus board?

I built my system for a 7900GT but the one I bought from BFG was defective and now I want to go with an ATI card because I've read too much about the 7 series having artifacting issues despite good power and cooling.

I know they are compatible but would I run into trouble using this setup? Will I lose alot of performance in not utilizing ATI's own chipset, the xpress 200 (or whatever it's called?). Will I lose certain features? I'm just afraid because obviously nvidia made the nForce platform.

My setup:

64 3800+ x2
Asus A8N-E rev. 2.0
2gb PC3200

A:Ok to use an ATI x1800xt 512mb in an nForce4 Ultra chipset?

the xpress 200 is essentially a video card physically embedded into the motherboard in the small chip form. It is not necessary to have the Xpress 200 to get better performance with an ATI video card since you disable the Xpress 200 chip instructions whenever using an aftermarket video card in the AGP/PCI-E slot. the NForce 4 is just a bridge chip that Nvidia produced. You can use ATI flawlessly with the nForce4 chipset.

I am looking for an ultra-thin digital voice recorder that uses removable media (SD Card, etc.) and that will record continuously for possibly hours at a time. Most meetings will be 1- to 7 hours; but, there may be a need occasionally to 10 hours.

I have seen what I think is all that NewEgg has; but, I would like to get thinner than the .4 or .4+ plus protusions that I saw there. If it werent for the protrusions (usually the battery compartment), the .4 inches might be acceptable.

Is it asking too much to want something a quarter of an inch thick maybe?

Target budget is $200 and down.

Hi all =). I'm getting a computer made with a 450w power supply. I'm getting a Geforce 6800 Ultra at least, but the company recommends a 480w supply for this card. I've heard of people having problems with their power supply not being able to cope with this card, but I don't know exactly at what power their power supplies ran. Will I run into any problems with the power supply I'm getting, or should I upgrade to 480w or more?

Don't know if you need this information also, but I think this may also effect my power supply:

Asus K8V SE Deluxe Motherboard
Athlon 64 3400+
1.5 GB pc3200 DDR Ram
120 GB HDD

Also heard that AMD uses less power than Intel or something...sooo I was thinking that perhaps my graphics card will not be affected as much because of this...but dunno. Help would be greatly appreciated =D.

A:Regarding Geforce 6800 Ultra, Ultra Extreme, or Asus v9999 Ultra Deluxe

One, Use a title once.

Two, nope nVIDIA GeForce 6800 families or newer REQUIRES 480w of psu minimum, PERIOD. it is not matter how much watts amd or intel uses, what you means that you must have 480w or higher to have GF 6800 working properly.

Recommendation, get ATI Radeon 9600XT or 9800XT, they merely used up less than 350w.

Lucan

You will get better games or things out of ATI instead of nVIDIA due to power usages

Went to plug in my old canon powershot a200 digital camera the other night and windows 7 said no driver could be found, no windows 7 driver listed on the canon site, yet windows compatible site says the camera is compatible, what gives?

In general , do digital cameras need drivers to work in windows 7?, are a number of the drivers all ready included in windows 7, and what is the chance that windows 7 64bit is going to have or find a driver for the canon SD960 IS, if i get it?

Any input or references are appreciated. Thank you

A:Canon SD Digital Elph Cameras

The SD550 is a larger camera. You should go into a store and handle them. The SD550 seems to be the last of the Canon pocket cameras with the larger 1/1.8 sensor. The Sony 7Mp 1/1.8 sensor in the camera is probably the best small camera sensor made so far and the lens system is particularly good. It has excellent overall resolution.

Unless you are making very large prints you are unlikely to see any difference in overall resolution though. Canon makes good lenses and the 6Mp 1/2.5 isn’t a bad sensor. For normal use features and size might be more important than super resolution if you aren’t going to see the resolution.

The SD700 is about the same size as the SD550 but with the smaller sensor. But you get more zoom and true mechanical stabilization. It would actually be my choice if I were shopping for a pocket camera.

I think Steve has reviews of the full SD series: http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

What advice have you tried?

Try updating your canon drivers. If this doesn't work, uninstall your Canon drivers and reinstall.

Use Revo for a full uninstall, the advanced uninstall will take out all the registry entry's (it's freeware aswell), then reinstall your driver.

It auto-initiates and the PC displays a popup that shows it recognizes the camera and goes through the motions of beginning a download. Then a second popup displays: "No new pictures or videos were found on this device". There is a link to a download settings menu in the first popup, but it won't display while the second popup is open. Upon closing the second popup, they both go away.

This camera readily downloads pictures into a PC running Windows XP Home Edition, or the PC Linux Operating System as well. No cockpit problems here that this experienced PC user can discern.

But under Whit's in the box, it shows a CD If their are Any drivers on it hopefully Xp pro 64 bit Vista 64 bit you can try installing them in compatibility mode. Simply download the driver to your desktop>right click on the setup.exe file>properties?compatibility.check the box Vista or XP>drop down menu select either of the 2 and run as administrator. Usually Windows will automatically install the needed drivers once you have plugged in the device and turned it on. Please post back and we'll go from here. Thanks. I have a client that recently bought a Canon A540 digital camera. They could not get it installed on their main PC. They were able to get it installed on the other two PCs though.

When I tried to install it on the main PC, Windows XP does not recognize the camera. It does pull up the box that asks you what you what software you would like to use wih the device, but there is nothing listed inthe box. On the other PCs it recognizes the camera as a Canon digital camera. I have tried reinstalling it with the updated drivers and still no luck....

My Canon 300D started acting odd. When I turn it on the screen backlight comes on and stays on all the time. To make matters worse it appears that one light at the bottom of the screen isn't working. Preview is off so I know that is not the problem. I have swapped the CF card and the battery. It does it with or without a lens. I've reset factory default settings. I've removed the memory battery and re-inserted it. The problem is not going away.

Any ideas on what may have caused this? Any suggestions how to make it go away?

I cannot download pics from a Canon A75 digital camera into the computer. I'm using Windows SE on a Pentium III 450 MHz and have 440 MB RAM. The software seems to have loaded okay, but when I click on Browse & Download images in the Camera & Memory card window of the ZoomBrowser EX software I get an illegal operation error :

The control panel camera & Scanner settings shows the camera as device ready when I turn the camera on. Cannon suggested I redownload the Camera Window software - it didn't help. Then said my video card (3dfx voodoo3)has a problem- but according to system settings it's okay and it works fine for everything else. About a year ago I had a Pentax digital camera (a cheap model) and although the pictures wern't that great it downloaded with no problems. (Yes, I removed its software) Any ideas? The camera isn't much good if I can't dowload photos! Thank You!

Just for photo reference, this is the exact camera I have.

It's the Canon Digital Rebel EOS, super old as you can see. The problem is that I was just taking photos by myself and all of a sudden when I sent to preview the last photo I took, it was all black. The entire photo was black. It was on automatic focus, exposure time,ISO, EVERYTHING was automatic and the photos previous were perfectly fine. It was on the forced flash off setting when I was taking the photos. I took the battery out, put it back in, changed what setting it was on, made sure the lense was snapped on- everything and still I could not view the photo previous nor could I see any other photos I took.
However when I do take the photos, the camera is still working on the automatic settings. The problem is the photos aren't showing up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone it has been quite a while since I have had to post a question for help but I have run across and issue we cannot seem to solve. Please read carefully as I will try to provide as much detail as possible.

All systems are Dell or HP many different models and footprints spanning over 5 years; so we do not believe it is a hardware issue.

All systems are running:

Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
4GB to 32GB Ram
USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports or only USB 2.0 ports
Almost all have no floppy drive
Almost all have DVD R/W drives but some have none
Many Keyboard and Mouse configurations
Some PS/2 type
Some USB Hardwire
Some USB Wireless
Some USB Bluetooth
Most do not have USB or parallel directly attached printers. All do have Network Printing from a common Windows Server 2008 R2 Print Server(s)

Over the years we standardized on Canon digital cameras (still pictures). We have purchased cameras for 8 years and have many different Canon models. We also have a few Sony digital and Nikon digital cameras.

Here is the problem:

All cameras no matter the make or brand worked perfectly in Windows XP Corporate. In fact many of the machines were running Windows XP Corporate were converted to Windows 7 because they are new machines completely capable of running Windows 7 and do have the stickers on them indicating such. Since we have converted a large amount of systems (approximately 2000) to Windows 7 Enterprise all the Canon digital cameras do not work. Nikon or Sony’s have n... Read more

Canon’s not working details:

By not working we mean you have no access to the pictures on the camera through the USB port. Why? Because the driver has the yellow exclamation point in the device drivers list.

Hi WindowStar,

Reading this, and seeing that the Sonys and Nikons are working, and the fact that the Canon drivers go haywire upon reboot seriously sounds like a driver issue. The other being camera compatibility.

With that, a few questions...

1 - Have you looked to Canon to see if there are any new(er) drivers out?

2 - Are these various Canon models, or just particular model? I know you say you have different models, but...

3 - Are you using any kind of Nikon or Canon software to transfer the files? Example, I have a Nikon DSLR and I use Nikon's View NX2 with no issues.

4 - How old are these cameras? It could be a compatibility issue, especially since you say these cameras were being used under XP. Just a thought though.

The biggest thing is the check Canon's site for the latest drivers for the camera(s).
