Solved: No picture, not even at startup, what can I do?

Q: Solved: No picture, not even at startup, what can I do?

Motherboard asus P5K with intel p35 /ICH9 chipset
Video card nvidia gefource 8800 gt
2nd video card ATI Radeon X600
OS windows XP Pro

I was given my father-in-laws computer and wanted to do a fresh install of XP to get rid of all the stuff he installed that I didn't want.

Everything was going fine until I installed net framework 2.0, which a message from the ATI card said I needed in order for the card to function properly. When framework was installed and the computer reboot everything when black after windows loaded. When I tried to reboot the computer everything stayed black. Not even the original Asus screen shows up.

My question is what can I do now? I'm happy to get rid of one of the video cards and do another clean install of windows if thats what I need to do. I don't have any important info on here yet. Thing is, I can't do that if I can see.

Preferred Solution: Solved: No picture, not even at startup, what can I do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: No picture, not even at startup, what can I do?

Not even the original Asus screen shows up.

OK, if you are not seeing the splash screen, you have a hardware problem not a windows problem or .NET problem. Windows is not even in the picture until after post completes.

Start with some basic troubleshooting;
1 Open the case and pull the pw connectors from ALL drives; both hd and optical
2 Reseat the pw atx and aux atx connectors on the board
3 Remove the ati card and use just the 8800
4 Clear cmos or as asus calls it RTC. Read your manual for detailed instructions regarding clearing RTC

Now pw ON and see if you get a display and if the board will post. If not, then you are going to have to swap parts with known good ones ie mb, ram, cpu, pw supply. If it does post, then shutdown and connect devices one at a time until you find the failed part.

I have a slightly older Maxent 42" plasma which I am trying to use as my monitor. I have gotten it to work with previous computers but this one is giving me trouble. It will display the bootup screens no problem but once windows goes to display the desktop then I lose signal and the screen goes blue. If I am quick enough I can pull out my small monitor vga and plug in the one to the TV and it will display for a second, then shuts it off for some reason. I took a video of the bootup, you can see it boots until the starting windows screen, then loses the signal, but when I hook it to my little LCD it works fine. Please help. Thanks.

A:My tv won't display picture after startup using VGA

---------------------------
EDIT: no wait a minute. It seems like the HD 6530D is an integrated GPU, and looking at specs seems like it's limited to up to 2560x1600 resolution, which would be a 30-ish'' screen, but that is a 42'' one.
No wonder it freaks out.
Try to alter TV options (if possible) to have a screen resolution within the gpu's limits, or buy a discrete GPU card, even 50-60$ ones will do.
You can try what I said below, but I think it won't work.
-----------------------------

Try booting the PC with a normal screen, then connect the TV, go in Screen Resolution (right-click on an empty are of your desktop) then select Detect and see if the TV gets detected as a second screen, and works fine as secondary monitor.
Then switch to it as primary screen, power off, disconnect the normal screen, power up again.
I know, you probably need a DVI-to-VGA adapter and another VGA cable or a DVI cable.

Also try looking into the TV's own options and manual to see if there is something that can be done on its side as well.

When one clicks on the Start Button of WindowsXP Pro MCE 2005, there should
be your name and picture you chose when setting up your user name.

The darn picture disappears and I can't get it back! If I go into Control Panel and
chose "User Accounts", it is displayed their just fine, and re-setting it has
NO effect on where it should be at Start... any thoughts?

A:Startup Picture Is Missing Next To Name.

Right mouse click on the start button and go to properties. Under the tab 'Start menu' make sure the 'Start menu' radial button is selected and click apply. This should restore your name and picture at the top of that menu when brought up (if I understand your problem correctly).

On my Toshiba notebook PC (Model C55-A5302), after an automatic update was pushed down last week, the "Do You Like What You See?" picture does not show - just black screen with "Do You Like?" question displayed. I have to advance to the login screen, at which point the picture displays, but then it's too late to answer the stupid question!

Very frustrating!

How do I get the picture to show when it's supposed to?

Alternately, how do I just get rid of the whole picture quiz thing?

Hello tpelle, and welcome to Ten Forums.

It sounds like you may have "Windows Spotlight" set as your lock screen background. You could change your lock screen background to be a picture with the Get fun facts, tips, and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen option turned off to get rid of the question.

This might be difficult to explain, but I'm going to try my best to do so. As soon as I turn on my acer laptop, what appeared on my screen was a light blue picture with white static like streaks or lines across the picture. Also, in the background it looked like there were three or four(can't remember exactly how many) sad/smiling text emoji faces. After that, the laptop just booted up normally and it seems to be working so far. But after googling about the sad face blue screen issue, I take that it's probably not good. Not sure why it happened though, anyone have an idea on what this was? I'm running an Acer Aspire ES1-512-C1W0 with Windows 8.1 64 bit 4.00GB RAM.

Have you run Malwarebytes? If not, d/l & run that. Malwarebytes has a paid & free version, the free version will work well. Do a full system scan with it.

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

If Malwarebytes finds anything, check the boxes of anything it finds & quarantine it.

The picture I have selected appears in the correct picture box in settings but when I restart my PC the startup page picture is one of Microsoft's own & mine is nowhere to be seen. I go back into settings/Lock Screen & there is my picture for all to see. I have tried both combinations of "Show Lock Screen Background On the Sign-In Screen" but the result is the same. Not that this is an earth shattering*problem (grin) but I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their local account picture not showing up on their Welsome screen in Windows 10, 1607?

I am the only person that uses my* desktop PC and it's located in a secure environment so I chose to continue using my local account on my system vs my LIVE account.* In addition, my environment is secure enough that I also chose to have the system automatically log on so I don't have to enter my password each time I start my system.

Prior to the 1607 release my system would start up and jump immediately to my desktop just as it did in Windows 7.* After 1607*the Welcome screen momentarily displays before it displays my desktop.* When this Welcome screen momentarily is displayed, instead of displaying the photograph of me above my*first name*it instead displays the person symbol that Microsoft provides as an account default in the event that the user does not provide a picture of their own.
Now, I have a laptop that also is running Windows 10, 1607 that's setup the same way as my desktop PC and when I power up my laptop it does show my photograph of me above my first name on that Welcome screen.* I've double checked my desktop PC and the*my picture does properly show up if I go into account settings so I'm*clueless as to why the picture shows up on my laptop*during startup but not my desktop PC.* Again not an earth shattering problem but*I'd like to fix it if possible.**

Hi,

The upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update.
It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.

Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account (which I use to login on Windows 10 as well as on Windows 10 Mobile) anyway, right?) it really bothers me!

All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.

Is that a known issue?
Do you guys have an idea of how to fix it?

Already tried to reset completely the browser by deleting its install folder and registering the app again, following some instructions I found on the internet, but it didn't work and it even messed up my other apps. Had to do a system restore (which only worked partially if I refer to the pop-up message after I logged on, but my apps are OK now and no other problem for the moment). So, my only "problem" remains in that profile picture which doesn't update in the Microsoft Edge Startup Page.

Looking forward for any potential help,
Regards,

A:Microsoft Edge Startup Page Profile Picture

Hello and welcome to the TenForums

As you say the picture you refer to should update automatically with your MS account. If this is not happening the cache file for that page may be corrupted. In Edge you can try clearing your cache data and files from the Settings menu, via the Clear Browsing Data section. The other thing to try is to check that you have the Sync settings turned on for Internet Explorer. This is found in the main W10 Settings->Accounts->Sync your settings page. Although it says IE it also works for Edge.

Regarding your memory; a better memory test is Memtest86+ - check the tutorial here: MemTest86+ - Test RAM

I was trying to configure RAID through the BIOS on my Area-51 R2, and after some searching found a suggestion to disable Secure Boot to allow the option to appear.Unfortunately, after saving the changes and exiting, I get no picture during POST. If I wait long enough, it boots into Windows fine. If I mash F2 during restart, I never see the BIOS come up. I've tried mashing F2, and after waiting a few minutes plugging my monitor into each of the three video cards to see if any of them's outputting, but it doesn't seem like it.

I've done this before on my desktop. I removed the picture and picture frame from the startup screen. But now I'm trying to do it on my netbook and I can't remember what file I edited to remove the frame.

Anyone know what file I may have edited?

EDIT: Is it Authui.dll?

A:Removing Picture Frame On Startup/Login Screen

Yes, its authui.dll. I was just looking at that file.

in all 3 uifiles (12400-12403, depending what button set you use)

Find:

UserTileTemplate

And do either of the two

<UserTile resid="UserTileTemplate" margin="rect(0rp,10rp,0rp,10rp)" height="0" layout="verticalflowlayout(0,2,2)" sheet="UsersStyle">

<UserTile resid="UserTileTemplate" margin="rect(0rp,10rp,0rp,10rp)" visible="false" layout="verticalflowlayout(0,2,2)" sheet="UsersStyle">

I would use the first since it actually shrinks it and doesnt take up space, the second method still uses up the space since its simply hidden.

And as always, back up your files before you attempt any mods to system files.

Good luck.

1) What happens when you click on "Start Windows Normaly"?
2)Do you have a recovery disk? If no, contact the Manufacture of your Laptop and they can send you one, sometimes free, sometimes for a small fee.
Or go to the store where you bought the laptop and they can help
3)Is your Laptop still under warranty? If yes, bring it back to where you bought it.

My computer has been running perfectly fine for over a year. Today I was putting extra hard drives as a secondary drive to see what was on them. I tried the first one and it started up fine. I tried the second one and it displayed an error at the boot screen. I realized I forgot to check the jumpers on that one. I tried starting up with just my main hard drive again and it started fine. I tried the last extra hard drive, making sure the jumpers were correct, and then the big problem started. It powered up, fans came on, hard drives ran, but no picture. I tried to start it up again with just my main and the same thing. Now, whenever the power is plugged in, the power light is on, whether the computer is on or not. When I hit the button, PSU fan, processor fan spins. You can hear the hard drive running. Nothing is displayed at all. There is a red light now on the motherboard which I believe is usually green. I have tried reseating the RAM in all configurations so unless both sticks went bad at the same time, I believe that is fine. I tried to start with both of the 2 hard drives which worked 10 mins previously so I belive they are also okay. Everything is plugged in properly. The only thing I did differently the last time it worked properly was I shut it down with the power button being I didn't have the keyboard/mouse plugged in.

My only ideas are:
1)PSU problem
2)Processor problem
3)Motherboard problem

A:While Testing Hard Drives, Computer Stops Displaying Picture at Startup

I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

PLZ SOMEONE...
HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

MY MICROSOFT WORD 2007 Spec:
Microsoft? Office Word 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6514.5000)
Part of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

A:Microsoft Office Word 2007 picture paste Bug *same picture is repeated

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,
Cheers.

I cannot find any information on why or how picture would revert. ( even more so on a specific date )

any ideas or leads ?

Hello newbiew, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.

It turns out that if I download a picture file to the photo app in 8.1, without putting it in a particular pre-existing folder, the file goes into the general area of the app displayed alongside several other non-related pictures. Okay, no problem. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to then move a single image file into one of the pre-existing folders I had created at an earlier time. If your suggestion is to open both the folder and the picture file side by side on the screen and then click and drag, I have no idea how to do that. Is there no way to right-click the image and find a way to select "move to", or something along those lines; or is there a pull-down menu that I can't find with the app open that contains a command to "move to"?
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,

A:How to move a picture file on 8.1 to a picture folder...

Well, you have many options. What you are looking for is this:

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums

But you can just copy the pics and paste them into the folder you like.

The side by side is easy too. Just open the source folder and press WIN + Right arrow. Then open the target folder and press WIN + left arrow, Now you can drag and drop from one folder to the other.

Sometimes I am not sure whether or not I want a program to run at startup and I want to be able to change what I have done at any time.

So there are a number of unchecked entries in msconfig and I have to use Selective Startup all the time.

If I want to revert to Normal Startup under the General tab instead of Selective Startup, the program's box automatically rechecks itself in Startup.

The Startup tab gives me a handy record of what I did and allows for an easy change of mind so long as I continue to use Selective Startup.

As far as I know, If I edit the Registry to stop programs running at startup, they won't show in msconfig and I lose the handy record of how it was and I may have to reinstall the program to go back to it running at startup.

I would like to accomplish this:

1. Use Normal Startup instead of Selective Startup.

2. Have some programs not run at startup, but be able to easily change back to having them run at startup.

3. Have a readily accessible list of those programs and the details as shown under the Startup tab as a reminder of how it was without having to manually enter it all into a text file or keep a notebook or reinstall.

Is there some way to use Normal Startup, stop programs running at startup, but retain or find a list of those programs (including the details under the headings Startup Item, Command, Location) that is shown when using Selective Startup with unchecked boxes under the Startup tab?

To put it another way, use Normal... Read more

A couple of nights ago I tried to turn on my comp and their was sound and everything, just no picture whatsoever. It's a SLI setup and I've tried starting it up with each card by itself. I've made sure that it's plugged into the monitor well, and used two different cables. My question is, Motherboard or Video Cards? I updated the drivers about a week before this happened, but would that keep anything at all from showing up (no start-up sequence even shows up)? I'm due for an upgrade anyway but you know how the prices are out there. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks

This is certainly a new one to me. I'm trying to watch a few videos I downloaded. RealPlayer is playing the sound, but there's no picture! Could it have some to do with my settings? Or is this a new form of DRM? They are personal movies, not copyrighted stuff. So I doubt that's the problem. But you never know. Any ideas?
Bryan

A:Solved: No picture

UPDATE:
We can definately rule out the whole DRM thing. Because I just downloaded and watched the videos on my father's computer. And he has the same OS as me (Windows XP SP2). It's obviously my computer that's causing this. Incidentally, I'm also having trouble getting my AOL media player to play video. Again, it plays just fine on my father's computer. I've tried the obvious stuff (making firewall exceptions, changing preference settings within RealPlayer itself). What else can I check?
Bryan

ONE OTHER THING-
It seems to be mostly WM files that won't play the video (only sound). Please help me! This extremely frustrating for how much I've spent on this computer.

Hi,

I know this can be done, and As this forum has helped me out soooooo much in the past, I thought i'd give it a try.

This photo was taken at a Foo Fighters gig in Birmingham UK last year. I waited in the freezing cold for an hour to meet dave grohl, however, when it came to, my sister had been friggin around with my camera, and it messed up the photo. Whereas, I took her photo and it turned out as clear as day.

So I was wondering if someone could fix this photo, as its the only one I have.

I've uploaded it to imageshack, the link is as follows.

I hope someone can help.

Cheers

A:Solved: Picture

The problem is that you are trying to use a thumbnail in an icon only
area. This does not work. The desktop will only display Icons. It
will not display thumbnails.

If you want to change the folder icon to something else then you have
to change the icon in the customize area. Changing the thumbnail
image does nothing to the icon on the desktop. However once you
change the thumbnail image and then go to the desktop folder in
Explorer and choose to view thumbnails then you would see your custom
folder there. But you would still only see an icon on the desktop.

A:Solved: Picture CD

It sounds like these are photo slideshow videos you are making in WMM? If so there's another free MS program to try called Microsoft Photo Story. Its a little more specifically aimed at making photo slideshows that you can then output as a video file and from there, make a CD or DVD.

I'm a 10-year user of Win98se. My income tax software no longer runs on 98 so I bought a Compaq Presario F700 with Vista Home Premium. H&R Block's TaxCut ran just fine on it.

Now I'm trying to learn Vista and it is frustrating. I badly need help from Vista experts. Although my initial impression of Vista was strongly negative, I've spent at least 50 hours trying to understand it. Many more hours will be needed.

I have lots of questions, but lets start with just two:

1) Windows Defender won't let me run a program that doesn't have what it considers proper credentials. Even when I turn Defender off, some component of Vista sends up that "Blocked" message and refuses to allow the program to run. I am the administrator for my PC and I want to be able to say, "This program is perfectly safe. Run it and don't give me any backtalk!" Apparently that's not possible.

These programs (about 6 of them) are utilities I have used for years. They do run on Vista but only if I go thru a gazillion overrides.

HOW CAN I FORCE VISTA (AND DEFENDER) TO ACCEPT AND RUN THESE PROGRAMS?

2) I want to create a startup.bat file that is executed at boot time.

HOW DO I MODIFY SYSTEM CONFIGURATION STARTUP TO ADD A REFERENCE TO THIS NEW BATCH FILE?

Thank you in advance for your help.
