I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi
Today I face the same issue with poor quality hinges which got broken. I will request  all to say no to DELL laptop.
Service Tag:<Service tag removed>

After 6 -7 month of use your hinges gone. Dell India support say, this does not cover on warranty.here was no drop, spill or accidental damage done to the laptop.
Dell India support  say it is due to usage. Please note laptop is meant to be use and not to keep on showcase. If your hinges broken with in 6 month, do you think next time the same user will ever look for a Dell laptop.
Either improve your quality in India or replaced your poor quality spare. Or else simple go away from India.
Our PM Mr Modi will not tolerate such poor quality service to Indian. I am going to take this matter to highest level. Please inform your India service to replace my hinges asap.

Hi all,
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-5717SLV Signature Edition
Purchase date: 12/09/2015
I am so glad to see to see that I am not the only one who has a hinge cover broken as I was beginning to think that I might have accidentally bumped the laptop somewhere (I am extremely cautious electronics user and none of the electronics products I used had physical damage in past.).   As you can see in picture, left side hinge cover is broken which causes the display screen to come off when I try to close the lid.  Getting hold of the customer representative is an ordeal itself but when I finally could get hold of the guy, he told me that this damage is not covered under the one-year warranty and I will have to pay $150/- in order for this laptop to get looked at by dell professional plus have to bear the cost of the new part.
Apart from this problem, touchpad is too sensitive to touch of my palm and cursor goes all over the place when I type. I have tried to change touchpad settings from control panel and uninstall the touchpad drivers but it has not helped.
Overall I think this laptop is of low quality. Now I understand that Inspiron products can’t be compared with Vostro or Latitude products, but this laptop is bad for even Inspiron standards. My four-year-old Inspiron N4110 is way better than this laptop and still working fine. I am sorry to say this but this has been one of the worst products I have ever used.

I purchased this stupid laptop like stuff in march 2016, I hardly use it for personal purposes, since I have a official laptop. Within 10 months, THE HINGE ON LEFT IS BROKEN, when I try to open it, the screen seems to detach from panel,  I have given to a authorized service centre in bangalore India,  they say it is not covered under warranty,  I have read so many people having similar experience with the laptop model,  seems to be a,  and still they dont want to admit it,  I am planning to go to <legalistic>,  because I have Invested my hard earned money to buy a branded product.  My invoice no is <private data>,  THIS IS MY LAST DELL PRODUCT.

My Dell Inspiron 5000 series is under warranty (extended) till Sept 2017. The accidental coverage was over by September 2016. I have been facing a cracking sound of the hinges for quite a long time. I have reported dell about the issue.
"The cover was tight and hard to open since the last service after my LCD screen was replaced for having white spots. Since I had to move to the United States for a year, it was not able to report the issue immediately. It has become too hard to open the cover and I presume it will break soon. If the hinges are broken, is it covered under warranty? I still have the extended warranty. It is important that I have to sue the laptop everyday"
and I received an answer:
"Sir, I would like to inform you that your system is not covered under Accidental Damage Warranty( Complete Cover). Your system is covered under the basic Hardware warranty which covers Hardware faults.Kindly confirm whether the system is currently in U.S or in India. However, as you have mentioned that the Lid(cover) has become too hard to open and can lead to breakage, there is an option to visit our Dell Authorized Service Center (if the system is in India) where the Technicians can check the system thoroughly and fix all the issues for you. Hi Dell Support Team,
I have noticed that top cover of my newly bought XPS 13 has crumpled near the hinges area. Please refer to the pictures attached to see the xact issue.

Now, I have called the support line, but was told that this kind of damage is not included in the basic warranty and could be repaired with a fee only. How come? This is clearly a defect of this laptop and should be either repaired or replaced. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
I am sure, that over the course of time, this will crack open completely.
Thanks in advance for some support here!

A:New Dell XPS 13 - top cover crumpled near hinges area

If "newly bought" means less than 21 days from shipment, call Dell and have the system replaced under the 21 day satisfaction guarantee.  If there is evidence of the hinges binding, call them back if it's older than that and they'll repair it.  Unfortunately, if you're out of 21 days from shipment and the problem is cosmetic rather than functional, they won't repair it -- for the same reason a new car dealer won't repair a car that suffers a shopping cart impact the day after it's purchased.

Hello, I am having issues with the hinges on the left side of my computer. I'm assuming that this is a hinge problem because the bottom of my computer is separating from the rest of he computer. Due to this issue, it has caused my fan to be broken. I have had my computer since 2014 and was planning on buying another one as a gift for a loved one this Christmas. I noticed that this is/was on recall. Is it still and can I please get this fixed for free? If this is an issue with all the HP computers and isn't a cheap fix, I don't know if I will buy another one. Please advise for help with this issue. Thank you!

I bought my wife an HP Envy M6 notebook in March 2015. She has the exact same problem that other people have had with their notebook hinges. In her case, both have broken somehow.  Her notebook casing separates from the screen  when opening/closing, and it is hard to keep open unless you push the screen 110 - 120 degrees or so. When the notebook is closed, you can see a big gap between the screen and the casing. At this time, her screen has not suffered, but I experienced something similar myself with an older HP notebook and my screen turned light blue. I would like to avoid hers to get to that point. The warranty on her notebook has expired already, but I would like do something, so that she can continue using her laptop for another couple of years if possible. I think HP should have a plan (repair/replace) for this specific issue, since it seems to be a very common one among HP notebook owners.  This is the 3rd case of a hinge issue with HP notebooks in our household. I have kept getting them because I like their looks and versatility, but I am getting to the point where I might have to switch to a different manufacturer with stronger built machines.  Would appreciate any help... Thank you!

I'll start by saying this, I have never dropped this laptop. I am willing to photograph every inch of it to prove that case.
A few months after buying I noticed that every time I lifted the screen, using only the amount of pressure necessary to do so, the casing began to split at the base where the hinges attached. After having the laptop sent to Dell "support" I was told that I had caused the damage and it wasn't covered by their warranty. Funny though, because with some basic searching I found out that this problem is pretty rampant with the inspiron 7559 model. But of course, just because hundreds of people have the same issue and have even posted photos like mine, its still my fault and has nothing to do with a faulty design. So after refusing to pay the $160, they shipped it back and the best part is, I HAD TO RE-ATTACH THE ****ING KEYBOARD. They couldn't even be bothered to put the thing back together again properly. Don't buy a Dell. Just don't do it.

I've had my Pavilion g6 for at least two and a half years, and I've been satisfied with it, except for a pretty big issue that has been messing with the functionality. The left hinge completely broke a year or two ago and I've been dealing with it for over a year by pinching both sides of the base of the laptop where the hinge is located, and it was an annoyance, but a minor one. I figured it was just my computer and so I didn't think I could do anything about it, but today my other hinge broke, so I did some research and apparently this is a big problem for some HP computers. Since they have a factory defect, and is that the hinges of the screen are broken and do not let the screen close at all .. and the most serious is that although the laptop in warranty, from the technical service say it is a damage Physical, WHEN even less than a year ago if they fixed this defect (said by the service technician toshiba in Mallorca).

My HP Envy 15 is less than two years old and has never been dropped or handled roughly, but the hinges started popping open from normal use a few months after the warranty expired.  Seeing as I am  a college student and unable to afford expensive repairs I had hoped it wouldn't get worse if treated delicately and have avoided moving the hinges as much as possible.  Unfortunately several months later, the left hinge has now completely detached from the casing, the metal inside has popped out and the hinge cover has fallen off the computer entirely leaving the wires inside the hinge exposed and the left side of the screen unattached to the base of the laptop. The right hinge is seperating as well and is splitting the side of the computer open.  It can't be closed without breaking the rest of the way and it won't stay open without being supported.  As it is, the computer is almost completely unusable and my only options are to get it repaired or replace it because I need a computer for college. It appears from this forum that this damage is the result of a very common manufacturing defect, so I'd like to know what my options are for resolving this issue.  Does anyone know what can be done about this? Thanks!

Hi there, I am having an issue with my laptop near the hinge.I have an Acer Travelmate P253-MG, the laptop was bought in July 2013. Around the December 2014/Jan 2015 (if I remember correctly) whenever I opened or closed the lid, it would jolt into place with a loud crack. Although concerning it was not causing any issues with the laptop. However screws started to fall out, I always kept them and put them back in though, but they made little difference. Eventually in the back left corner, between the hinge and the charger area, the laptop has begun to pull away from itself. It is so bad now that I am having trouble using the power button as the gap is so wide. I have NEVER dropped the laptop or handled it roughly. It is only ensured for inside a house so I have taken exceptional care of it. What can be done about this? I am not keen to pay to get it fixed as I am very tight on cash being a recent graduate.Does Acer have any solutions to this, as I have found many threads from people with similar issues.

Sorry to sound like a broken record but here's some more broken M7 hinges. We purchased this laptop in 12/2013. Recently, we noticed it wasn't closing properly.  The hinge mounts on both sides are broken. The pressed in metal, threaded mounts pulled out of the plastic base. Some of the plastic mounts are broken. An internet search revealed the problem is systemic with this laptop so we figure its a quality issue. What do we do next? The laptop is just about unusable. FYI I also sent this info into support. Thanks Fred Gasior

Hi all I'm sure none of this is new, my warranty expired last year and a couple of weeks ago there was a crinkle sound from my hinges, at the time I was unaware of the massive issue with this model, right now the top part of the laptop is torn from the base part and the screws completely broke the plastic they were attached to (metal screwed to plastic? give that man a raise) The disaster waiting to happen happened and my question is basically what now? I've owned another Hp that lasted me 6 years and died from overexertion, I've had this one for a  couple of years. I take care of my things, but when it's designed to break how can it be the consumers fault? oh well Thank you for reading through my plight Rui

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).    I bought HP laptop with beats audio in 2015. One year later both hinges are broken, the wires are exposed, and the display on the screen is flickering. How much would it cost to repair this?

The hinges on my laptop have completely broken off of the base. I am an engineering student and use my laptop daily, but right now I have to use my laptop on a surface touching a wall because the wall is the only thing keeping the screen from falling off completely when in use. I've researched this issue and it seems pretty common for this model. Does HP offer any assistance with this issue?

Apart from waiting a lifetime for these parts to appear on ebay, can anyone suggest where I can purchase replacement hinges to attach my screen onto my laptop again as there is nothing wrong with the laptop in any other respect.

Thanks.

I bought my HP Envy Touchsmart over 2 years ago.  I keep it by my chair at home and only used for personal use.  Several months ago, one hinge started breaking, now both are and now today the plastic on the bottom is trying to pull loose due to the hinge being broken.  It appears this is a very common problem with the HP laptops.  I have been a loyal HP customer with computers and printers, however I'm extremely disappointed that how careful I am with my computer, that it is broken.  I'm in fear that every time I open it up, it will be the last.  I'm looking forward to your help with this issue.
