I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:2 external monitors using onelink & Display port

Hi 944V8! Welcoem to our forums community. Base on the product reference: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad_X1_Carbon_2nd_Gen, you can connect a maximum of two external displays. The maximum resolution is : 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz through the mini display port and 2880 x 1620 max resolution at 60Hz through the HDMI port. We highly suggest you to connect it directly to the external monitor because passing it to a VGA port would degrade the display quality.

Hi,

The way I read the X1YG1 base specs it supports two independent monitors.  Apologies, but I can't quite parse your post.  Does "apart from laptop screen" mean that you want 3 monitors total, or two and the laptops's display is off?

supports external digital monitor via HDMI or Mini DisplayPort;supports dual independent displays;

Hello, everyone.
I am using a Latitude 3540 laptop with switchable graphics (Intel HD Graphics, AMD Radeon HD 8850M). As soon as I got the laptop, I upgraded to 8.1 (probably a mistake!).
All of my drivers are up to date according to Device Manager, and I've updated the chipset and BIOS and everything according to the Dell website. But for as long as I've had this laptop, the VGA port will not work! I'm using a VGA cord that has worked with other laptops before without issue. The laptop will not output to projector, external monitor, or a TV. Pressing the win-P combination brings up the ability to extend and duplicate my screen. When I change those settings, my screen resolution will change, but the external monitor/projector doesn't display anything. When I try to detect displays in my graphics properties, it just doesn't detect anything that's connected.
Is my VGA port faulty? Or does anyone have any suggestions on what else to try at this point? My laptop is still under warranty, so I suppose I could always send it in to be fixed.
Thanks for the help!

Hallo Community, I am using my X1 Carbon gen 4th with an external Monitor via HDMI cable. Now i would like to try to add another external Monitor on it. Without any docking station would be perfect. I notice that there is also a mini display port on my device. I suppose I can connect one monitor via HDMI and the other with mini Displayport? Will these two monitors work together at the same time? I would like to ask, if anyone has experience about that?   Thanks for the  inputs in advance!

Hi.I'm using my X1 Yoga with a Onelink+ docking station and 2 external monitors on Display Port. The description of the docking station states that there can be up to 3 monitors including the system display. My X1 Yoga is always closed when I'm at home so that I'm just using the external monitors whereas 1 of them acts as the system display. In this case, could I attach a third external monitor to the VGA port of the docking station? Many thanks in advance.

I have a ThinkPad E550 laptop connected to two Acer V246HL monitors via a ThinkPad OneLink Pro dock. One monitor is connected via DVI/HDMI to the dock and the other connected either via VGA or DVI/HDMI directly into the laptop.  When both are connected via DVI/HDMI only one monitor will be detected. When one is connected via VGA both monitors are detected, however the one connected via VGA will flicker or blink off and on. Disconnecting the ThinkPad dock solves this issue. I have tried the following:Uninstalled and reinstalled graphics driversUpdated dock firmwareRun updates on graphics driversChecked different cablesChecked different monitorsChecked different dockChecked different laptopRun Lenovo VGA fix The Lenovo VGA fix would not complete and ended up in error loop. After advice from the internet I unplugged the dock and tried again, but failed. I then unplugged everything but the VGA cable and tried again, but failed. I unplugged all peripherals and tried again, but still failed. Errors include "Invalid AUX device" and"Enable Aux2 Reg Failed".Finally I redownloaded the fix, unblocked everything before unzipping then ran as Administrator, however it all still failed. Any other advice? I can run off battery for a while but not for a full working day.

I'm unable to get my X1 Yoga to detect external monitors when plugged into the OneLink+ dock. This started occuring when my computer upgraded to the creators update. I thought I found a thread of others with the same issue (linked below), but it turns out I was waiting for a fix that didn't apply to me. I'm super frustrated right now. Stuff I've tried so far.1. Updated all drivers using Lenovo Service Bridge (even optional drivers)2. Installed the Fall Creators update preview (after being told it would fix the issue)3. Completely reinstalled Windows4. A Single VGA monitor5. A Single Display Port Monitor6. 6 different cables At this point I'm convinced there's an issue with the dock. There's a firmware update available for it, but you can't install it unless it is actively connected to a monitor (go figure).  When attempting to install, I get the code 255 "Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC" If anyone has any sugestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. It used to work perfectly, then about the time I installed the creators update it started getting flaky, now I can't get it to work at all. Previous thread I was following. I have the exact same equipment at home and at work and yet the resolution on my second monitor at work will not go to the 3840 x 2160 that I have at home. Both locations have:1. X1 Yoga (first gen, model number 20FQ002YUS) -- It's the same laptop that I take between home and work2. ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (model number DU9047S1)3. Two (2) Asus monitors (model number PB287Q) that go to 3840 x 2160 max resolution, connected to the OneLink+ Dock via DiplayPort cables I've been running this configuation with NO PROBLEM at home for the past 9 months.  So I recently purchased a new OneLink+ Dock and two new monitors for my work office and while one monitor will go to 3840 x 2160, the other will not go above 1920 x 1080, UNLESS, I use a mini DisplayPort cable from the second monitor directly into the X1 Yoga (bypassing the OneLink+ Dock) HERE'S WHAT'S BAFFLING: I assumed it was the dock and so I brought the one from home to work and found I had the SAME problem, suggesting it was the second monitor.   But I exchanged the second monitor for a new one and still have the same problem.  The docks are running the most current firmware. I'll send a gift card to your favorite coffee house if you can solve this mystery.  Thanks!

Hello, I just bought an X1 Carbon Gen 4 and need to hook up 2 external monitors which have VGA, HDMI or DVI ports available. The idea is to have a 3 monitor setup (all three monitors with a resolution of 1920x1080) including the Built-in monitor and the 2 external ones. I have bought the OneLink+ adapter that has the RJ45 and VGA ports (4X90J31060) and am trying to set the whole rig up so that one monitor connects to the VGA port on the adapter and the other monitor is connected through the HDMI port on the laptop. The problem is that I can only seem to get 2 monitors going at a time, either Built-in & HDMI or Built-in & VGA. Before I go and buy more hardware (i.e. dock or MiniDP to HDMI/DVI adaptor), I was wondering if what I am attempting is even possible, and if it is, what I am doing wrong. Thanks to anyone who can answer.

I have a newly imaged Elitedesk 800 Mini 35W G3 desktop with 3 HP Brand display port to DVI adapters attached to 3 viewsonic LCD's and after getting everything hooked up, I was only getting video on 2 of the three displays. I went into the Intel Graphics Properties,  then Display, then Multiple displays, then toggled it to Collage, all 3 screens went blank, then it popped back up with Extended Desktop selected, but then a picture on all 3 screens! I thought my problem was solved however after I reboot, the setting reverts and even though it shows its under "Extended Desktop" still, only 2 of the 3 displays are showing a picture until I toggle back to Collage, then have it refresh and jump back to Extended Desktop. I am using a fully updated copy of Windows 7 Enterprise and have installed the latest version of the Intel 530 video chipset driver from HP for this specific model of computer. Please let me know if anyone knows how to solve this issue permanently. Thanks!

Hi,
So this is the first time this sort of thing has ever happened. When I turned on my PC today only one monitor was picking up signal. In attempt to fix this I switched the display ports from the working monitor to the non working monitor. Nothing happened so I moved the cables back, when I did that the other monitor no longer received signal. I then plugged in a hdmi cable to my monitor and still no signal. I then unplugged the power to the PC and held the on/off button for 60 seconds and re plugged the power. The monitor began receiving signal but only through hdmi and the other monitor still does not work.
I have no idea how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

I've read that using a T470s with the USB-C (40A9) 40A90090 Dock connected to 2 Display Port Monitors has problems charging via the USB-C cable and that you also need to connect an external PSU to the laptop for power. Hi all, would really appreciate some help from you all!  I want to connect P50 to two external monitors and have all three displays (p50, monitor 1 and monitor 2) on.  Is that possible without a dock?Monitor 1 is a 21.5 inch Asus monitor with HDMI, VGA and DVI portsMonitor 2 is slight ancient 22 inch HP monitor with only VGA and DVI ports My P50 laptop has HDMI, Thunderbolt, and a Mini displayport connector. Can I connect the P50 to the two monitors and have the displays on all of them (including the laptop) be on?   If yes, what do you recommend is the best way to connect them?

A:P50 display ON plus two external monitors without a dock possible?

First, you haven't mentioned if you have a "discrete graphics" nVidia GPU in your P50. I will assume you do, and I will recommend that you set your BIOS to have Config -> Display -> graphics device set to "discrete graphics".  This will effectively disappear the built-in Intel HD Graphics hardware (from the CPU) which would normally control the laptop screen.  It will instead assign the nVidia GPU to control the laptop screen as well as all externally connected monitors.  You should then download and install the normal latest retail nVidia graphic driver for your Quadro GPU from the nVidia driver download site.

Next, you should use both the miniDisplayPort and HDMI connectors on your P50, to connect to the external monitors. You can connect the HDMI port on the laptop to the monitor which has an HDMI source connector, using a regular HDMI-HDMI cable.

The second external monitor can be connected to the miniDP connector on the P50, but you will need a proper modestly priced miniDP->DVI cable like this one.

That's it. You can use the nVidia Control Panel (installed as part of the normal nVidia driver) to activate all three screens and also to set the desired resolutions on all three screens.

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

We're having difficulty with P2414H and P2314H monitors not entering sleep mode when plugged in via Display Port. As soon as I unplug the Display Port connection, the monitor says that it doesn't see a connection and is entering sleep mode (Windows 7 Pro, desktop or laptop). But plug the Display Port cable back in, and the monitor will go blank, but not enter sleep mode.
During sleep mode the power drops to the backlight and the power button pulses. What's happening in this case is that the power button stays lit as does the backlight.
We tried the test with a VGA cable on the 23" monitor and it properly went to sleep mode. We tried a DVI cable on a 20" Dell monitor and it also goes to sleep mode properly. The issue only seems to occur when using the Display Port.

Bear in mind the Intel GPU is the one connected to the displays - the nVidia GPU is just a co-processor.  I don't think any of the Intel GPUs support more than three simultaneous displays - if you need that support, you'll need an external video adapter of some type.

I have a user's laptop that is experiencing a problem I have never seen before involving Word Art in MS Word 2010. When she received it the document opened properly and she could see it properly. However, a second user--who also received the document--asked how to remove the "DRAFT" on the document. The user I'm trying to help was confused because she could not see it on her screen, which are two external monitors. When I went to her to start troubleshooting, we discovered if we changed the background color to anything but white we could see it, but as soon as we change it back to white we can no longer see it. I had her change the color of "DRAFT"--which is inserted Word Art and NOT a watermark, we discovered--but that effected no change. I then had her move to a new workstation with a different docking station/external monitors/etc but received the same problem. However, we soon discovered that we COULD see the "DRAFT" art on her laptop's display. Additionally, I discovered if I attached a video cable (I used an HDMI-to-HDMI) directly from the laptop to an external monitor that I could see "DRAFT" on the external monitor. Has anyone else ever seen this happen before? Updating all drivers has not solved the problem, either. I'm thinking there is a problem with the docking station connector on the laptop; beyond that I'm really scratching my head on this one.

My company has issue me a Lenovo T470s and an Ultra Dock to replace my existing equipment. I have two external monitors connected to the docking station with display port cables. The problem that I am experiencing is that if the laptop is docked and the cover is open, I get video on the laptop display and one external monitor. The other external monitor gets no signal and goes to sleep. If I close the laptop cover, I get video on both external monitors. A co-worker told me that this was working as designed and that the solution for getting video on all three monitors was to connect one external monitor to one of the display ports and the other to the DVI port. (He hadn't tested this configuration and is using two display ports with the laptop cover closed.) I tried my coworker's suggestion and got the same result but prior to switching to DVI, I downloaded and installed the latest(?) driver for the HD Graphics 620 adapter from this website (lenovo.com) and that seemed to solve the problem (when using two display ports) but after shutting the laptop down, I had the same issue the next day. What I want, is to have the laptop cover open and still be able to use two external monitors and get optimal resolution on all three monitors. What's the best configuration for achieving this? (Don't guess, like my co-worker. Give me something you've tested and that you can confirm that it works.)

I use a XPS 9350 for about a year now. Its a certified refurbished with core i7, 16 GB and 512GB SSD.
I had an issue with usb C adapter tha has a lan port, HDMI port and usb 3 port. When I detach and reattach the adapter with laptop power on I almost always loose the external monitor (extended desktop mode) display. Display properties showed that cant detect the external display. the external monitor also goes to idle state. I need to turn off / restart laptop several times to get the external display on, sometimes for a whole day it did not come back at all.
I found a work around, when this happens go to display properties and change the "Extended desktop mode" to "Duplicate the display" mode and the apply, the other monitors get back to normal. you can reapply the Extended mode afterwards and it works fine.
I use kwmobile usb c hub.
I hope this post also help someone else. It s pity that a fine laptop has so much issues still to be addressed. (Auto wake up is killing me!!)

Hello, I was using my samsung tv as an external monitor using a USB-C -> HDMI adapter without any issues since the day I got my T470.Since a few days, when I plug in my adapter, nothing happens anymore, as it is no longer recognized at all, using the HDMI port works fine though.I tried with a different USB-C -> HDMI adapter and got nothing either, so I assumed it is an issue with the port itself. Here are my thunderbolt options in the BIOS :   Then I checked in the deviced manager to see if the Thunderbolt controller is showing, it's not.  I redownloaded the Thunderbolt software from T470 support page and reinstalled it, version is 17.4.78.15Then I downloaded the Thunderbolt firmware update (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/id/fr/downloads/DS121681) and ran it in Administrator mode. The update fails with this message "no thunderbolt controller found, or thunderolt software is not present in the system"  I saw in that similar post (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thunderbolt-TB3-NOT-found-in-device-manager-f...) that turning off the option "Thunderbolt BIOS Assist mode" in the BIOS made the thunderbolt controller appear in the device manager, but this option is not available in the T470. Everything is up to date according to Lenovo System update software.Trying to restore windows to a previous point failed at each attempt. My current windows 10 build is 1607 (14393.2214) I'm running out of ... I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad T490 with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 controller and whenever I try to connect an external display through the HDMI port the display is detected, but nothing shows on it. The screen either remains black or a "No signal" message is displayed on it. Displays seem to be working fine through the USB-C display port. I am primarily using Ubuntu 19.10, but I tested the problem on Windows 10 and it is the same. The graphic card drivers and the BIOS are up to date. I also tried with different monitors and none of them works. Here's an output from the xrandr command, where the display is detected on the port HDMI-2. I tried multiple resolutions, refresh rates, but nothing works. Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 16384 x 16384

Hi there, I have a spectre x360 which I am using with 2 monitors: 1 x 24in monitor plugged via HDMI - HDMI lead1 x 27in monitor pluged via mini DP - full size DP lead I have the laptop screen and the 2 monitor screens on at the same time - so effectivily im using a total of 3 screens. Everything works fine until the laptop goes to sleep. When I wake up the laptop, the laptop screen and the monitor plugged in via HDMI turn on. The monitor plugged in via display port doesnt wake up. The only fix is to unplug the mini displayport cable and plug it back in to the laptop - this wakes up the monitor. The issue with unplugging and plugging the cable back in is all the windows that I had opened get moved about and its very frustrating. Please advise how I can get the laptop to wake up both monitors. thanks

I have a P1 GEN2 OLED. While the internet is flooded with complaints of the OLED screen itself, the thunderbolt 3 port of my P1 GEN2 magically stopped working for no reason.  I have been using the laptop with an external display ever since I got the laptop. All went well. Suddenly from yesterday, the external display starts turning into a blue sreen with "NO SIGNAL" shown on it.  I had a windows cumulcative update (KB4532693) and windows security update (KB4524244) yesterday and I suspected that the update might be the culprit. I rolled back the OS. No change. Still NO SIGNAL.  I searched this Forum. Played with Thunderbold 3 menu in the Bios. Everything was enabled and every single option of "security level" was tried. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Intel Mangaement Engine software. It is already the latest version. Reinstalled it. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Nvidia driver. Latest version already.  In sum, the problem is: the thunderbolt port is still able to power the extenal display but just simply does not pass signal to the external display. HDMI port, however, still passes signal if use an HDMI cable.  I want to give it a shot here to see if anyone has experienced similar issues and how they sovled the problem before I call Lenovo technical support, the staff of which does not seem to know more than some people here on this Forum.

Hi everyone, I just switched over at work to the new gen4 version of the X1 Carbon, which of course means I also switched to the new OneLink+ dock.  My issue is that the headphone port on the dock does not work.   The headphone port on the laptop itself does work, it's just the dock's headphone port. When Windows does its initial install of drivers, it gives a failed message for "ThinkPad OneLink Plus Cable dock Audio" [image 1 in link below].  This is also listed with a yellow ! in the device manager [image 2 in link below].  I've gone to Lenovo's driver page and updated the dock drivers (and firmware), as well as the audio drivers just in case.  No luck from any of those. My only lead is that when I try to manually install drives for it, I get a message about them not being digitally signed [image 3 in link below]. Googling the phrase "ThinkPad OneLink Plus Cable dock Audio" returns almost no results and those that do show up look extra shady. Link to screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/3ucoD Anyone run into this issue before?  Any ideas? Thanks!
