I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi guys, I have a ThinkPad x230 2325CN3 with an i5 3320m and 8 GB of RAM (4 initially installed, 4 installed by myself - both of same label). My BIOS Version is 2.65. I have the problem that I can't run my Gigabyte GTX 560 TI which I connected through Pe4L v2.1b to the expresscard-slot of my TP. I already tried several things such as changing the pins on the Pe4l in every way, I tried to DSDT-Override my system which turned out to have destroyed my whole system so I had to do a new setup of Windows. Can anyone help me out whit this issue? There have been several identical issues that could be fixed with a former BIOS Update already in 2012 but apparently my system won't do it with this update... Hello. The prices and availability are so far and few between that I haven't decided on a exact model. I was wondering if anyone could help me indentify what PCI/PCIe and Express Card slots I have. I have looked on Lenovo's part lookup page but I'm so new to this I don't honestly know what exactly I am searching for. Pardon my ignorance. I intent to try a DIY eGPU setup since I do infact have the Express card reader. I know I could use a PCIe setup and remove the wifi card but that seems like alot more of a hassle than a "plug and play" style setup from the Express card slot even though I will lose performance. Lets be honest it's still going to be better than the HD4000 or K2000m. I have read briefly about the whitelist on the BIOS and may have a workaround but I am still researching so any experience into the matter would be greatly appreciated. Hello,I'm interested in buying the new x1 yoga when it becomes available.  I'm a graduate student and my focus is in deep learning.  I'm aware that there are other options available (NVIDIA built in), but I am interested in the portability of the X1.  I'm also aware that transfer speeds can be a problem when using an eGPU but it's my understanding thunderbolt3 could be "fast enough" for this application.Would I be able to do cuda programming with the x1 and an eGPU like the razer core + titan x though the thunderbolt 3 port? Thanks!

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

A:Thinkpad yoga 460 - Thinkpad Pen Pro not charging ...

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I just bought a Thinkpad Yoga from Best Buy and upon opening, found that the pen pro included does not work. I'm on the most updated version of all the drivers, and the touch screen and multitouch with my hands still work. After taking an multimeter to measure the voltage of the pen, I found that the pen just wasn't charging. I'm a bit hesitant to check the voltage of the charging silo itself but my suspicion is that the pen is dead. Could this be a software problem? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I return to pen and the laptop to bestbuy or just the pen? Or should this issue be brought to Lenovo instead?

A:Thinkpad Yoga 460 (Best Buy) - Thinkpad Pro Pen do...

I don't have a 460, but I do have a 260, which is a smaller, but VERY similar machine.  I had the same problem and I believe it is not the pen.  Before you do anything, you need to unplug the machine and disable the internal battery.  You do that by going into the BIOS and under the config tab, look under power.  There will be an option to disable the battery.  When this is selected, the machine will turn off.  The battery is re-enabled the next time you plug it in.  IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU WILL CREATE A SHORT AND BLOW A IRREPLACEABLE FUSE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.  Remove the pen and look inside, where you will see 2 contacts.  My guess is that one or both got pushed back into the housing during manufacturing process.  You can take something fine and sharp like a needle and gently free them so they will pop back out.  Once I popped mine out, the pen charged very quickly and I never had another problem with it.

I intend to buy an X1 Yoga (IPS or OLED) for my business and connect it to my two Dell U2417H monitors. Looking at the Dell user guide, I see that you should be able to use one cable from the laptop and daisy chain the two monitors. The Dell user guide states that the PC/laptop graphics card must support "DP1.2 with MST transport". * Does the 1st gen X1 Yoga have DP1.2 with MST transport?* What about the 2nd gen X1 Yoga? Understand the mini DisplayPort has been deleted on the 2nd gen X1 Yoga and left only a HDMI and Thunderbolt connection. How would I achieve this daisy chain connection? Thanks

Hi, I have 3 problems with my Yoga 460: 1. (this should be easy):Where do I get a backup image for my system from? I did not find any links on the support page. 2. I tried to download the bios update to version 1.18 from the website. If I click on the windows installer file, there is always the message "file not found". If I try to download the iso file (which is indeed working), I receive an error message about wrong format when trying to mount it to a usb drive. 3. This is the most important issue for me at the moment:As soon as I try to update my system with Lenovo Companion software, I always get the message that I would have to upgrade my Lenovo System Interface Driver. If I hit ok to install this app, I get a download link. I tried installing it several times. After having restarted the system, the same error appears again (with the same download link).  I would really appreciate if anyone of you could help me on these topics! Greetings from Germany, Simon

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. Hi, I am having a big issue since I bought X1 Yoga around a month back. Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

A:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Under Details > Problem Code it says "0000002B", and under Details > Problem Status "The Request is not supported/C00000BB". In the System Event Log I am also getting a few "BcmNfcIc driver has failed initializing NFC device." errors at the time it fails. If I do a right-click > Disable and then right-click > Enable on the device, it works again for a few minutes, but then shows the same error again. I'm using Windows 8.1, fully updated with Windows update, and all drivers/BIOS updated using the Lenovo tool. The NFC driver is version 1.1.0.3130 from 17/12/2013. I also had an issue where the Lenovo QuickControl together with "Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver" background process took up 95% of the CPU time all the time, which I solved by deinstalling QuickControl. I'm thinking the two issues might be related, with the QuickControl trying to unsuccesfully poll the NFC device. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Jan

A:Thinkpad Yoga NFC issues

I found out that Windows 8.1 Update 1 has just been released. This seems to have fixed the problem. After the update I had an error about the Lenovo PM Device, saying that it had corrup registry information. Deleting and re-detecting the PM device fixed the problem, and now everything appears to be working.

RELEVANCY SCORE 50.8

I purchased a refurbished ThinkPad S1 Yoga (20CD-00BYUS) a month ago, from eBay (US-based shop) with guarantee active up to April 2015. Everything was fine and satisfying until yesterday. After a normal shutdown the night before, it won't power on anymore. The battery was still about 50% on the last shut down. If I press the power button (normal press or even more than 5 sec press), the "red i dot" will light for about 4 sec and then off. No noise, no other sound. I tried to push the emergergency reset button as instructed on the manual, but it didn't work.I tried also making bootable USB, but also didn't work.Anyone have idea what I have to do before the ultimate option = send it to the customer service for repair? I read some similar problem in this forum and it seems useful to check the MB cable. Is it true? Will it affect the guarantee? Thank you for your help.

A:ThinkPad S1 Yoga won't power on

no. i was the one that provided the MB cable solution. From your description, it does not fit the problem. If the MB cable is disconnected, the led should not even lightup when you press the power button. the laptop should be totally unreponsive, except when the power adapter is unplugged then plugged back in.
