Q: Lenovo Ideapad Flex 15 touch screen stopped working

I noticed my touch screen stopped working yesterday May 14, 2018. I have looked under Human Interface Devices and the HID-Compliant touch screen Properties window says "The device is working properly." I have also tried to update the driver, but the system says there are no updates available and that the only driver in existence is the original (June 21, 2006). I have also tried disabling and enabling the device and several restarts with no luck. Any advice?

The touchscreen on my Flex 15 stopped working. I am not sure exactly when, but in the last few months.  I am already on Win10, and it has worked fine since the Win10 upgrade over a year ago.  In Device Manager, I can see the HID Touch Screen entry.  I tried uninstalling and deleting it, followed by a restart.  Reinstalled itself on start-up, but no joy.  It claims to be working.   I have seen other similar posts saying to delete entries under Mice... but I don't see any Touch Screen entries there.Interestingly, I see most of the drivers have Event dates of 2-Jul 2017, saying "Device migrated". I am suspecting some delightful Micorsoft "improvement" on that date may have been the cuplrit, but I also feel like the touch screen may have been working after that date.  Unfortunately, I don't use the touch screen very often, but I DO need it now and then. Thoughts?

Hello, I need help fixing the Touch Screen on my Flex15D Ideapad. I did a fresh install to Windows 10 and the Touch Screen stopped working. I tried every solution on these forums by going into Device Manager and disabling/uninstalling the HID compliant touch screen driver along with the HID Usb driver in that same section.  I also checked the Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller(A111) and that doesn't exist there. I checked to make sure the USB Hub is enabled and not disabled under Universal Serial Bus controllers section. I tried installing every Driver in the book from the Support section. I even tried reverting back to Windows 8.1 and STILL NOTHING and I went through all the same steps as I did on Windows 10. And apparently this is a rampant problem with Lenovo Touch Screen laptops with no real solution. Is there anything that works? Thanks.

I have Ideapad Flex 14 Ideapad S100 with Windows 10 having latest updates. A few days ago I had realized that thouch screen doesn't work any more. After consultation with Lenovo Turkey, which was insisting on recovery, I recovered my ideapad turning back to an image taken by Win10 two months ago. This step did not help. Some how next day after recovery in the morning it worked only for a few hours then stopped working again. I tried to disable and enable the "HID-compliant device" or other relaten USB items and reinstalled/activated, it did not help.I hope it is a software/driver failure and this problem will be solved soon by Lenovo.

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

First do a Power Drain 
     (If the battery is removable)
            Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
               Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
         I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Hello all, I just purchased a Flex 5 1470 80XA for simple drawing purposes for a project my company is working on and the HID Compliant Touch Screen driver is not on the machine.  I am currently on the latest Windows 10 and BIOS builds. Now, I have scoured the forums and the internet at large and I can't find a consistent answer on why this is the case or how to fix it. I have attempted every solution that I have located with no luck. Anyone nave a solution?

I know a few others have asked this question, but I haven't seen anyone report a solution or any follow-up to suggestions given. Here's what happened: my touch screen worked normally on Friday, then I went away for the weekend and didn't use my laptop and when I started working on Monday I realized my touch screen didn't work. Here's what I have done to try to fix it:1. Restarted the computer2. Disabled & enabled the HID-compliant touch screen in the Device Manager 3. Disabled & enabled the Generic PnP Monitor in the Device Manager4. Checked for driver updates for the touch screen (it said the most up-to-date driver is already installed)5. Tried to roll back the driver for the touch screen, but that button was greyed out, so it wasn't an option6. Unstalled the most recent Windows updates (there were a couple from the previous week)7. Unstalled the HID-compliant touch screen (but when I restarted the computer, there it was again)8. Talked to the IT guy for my work, who said I did everything he would have done, and suggested that I write a post on this forum. I saw a suggestion in another thread that the driver for the touch screen could be corrupted, but I didn't really see any instructions on how to unstall/reinstall the driver itself. I would like to try that if someone could tell me how that's done. Any other ideas? My Lenovo is probably 4-5 years old, Windows 10 for well over a year, installed a new anti-virus software a few months ago with no issues... Read more

This computer is not even a week old. When this first happened I saw that on the bottom side of the laptop were two switches, one for the battery and I guess one for the touch screen, by the way there is not literature on what so ever, and after flipping the switch the touch screen worked perfectly for about a day. Now it has stopped working again, but the switch is in the correct position. All of my drivers are up to date. I am so frustrated with this. the mouse works fine, it is just the touch screen. Please, someone tell me you have had a similar issue with this series of the ideapad and that you have been able to fix it, I really don't want to have to send it in as I use it everyday for work.

     Both of those "switches" on the bottom are for the battery. One is a spring loaded switch to open battery, after you push the other one into the open position. This is how you remove the battery, and have nothing to do with the Touch Screen.
 
      Did you delete any of the software that came with your system? The easiest thing you could do is backup your user files to a CD, or some external hard drive, then reset your system using the system recovery. See page 20 of the user guide for the recovery routine. Make sure you have a backup of your user files, before attempting the recovery, as it will set up your system like new. This should solve your problem, but if it doesn't, please post back with further information.

I got a new Lenovo Yoga 520 notebook a few days ago - initially everything was working fine, however now when I switch it into tablet mode the touch screen is completly unresponsive. I have done all the Lenovo system updates and windows 10 is up to date.  Has anyone experienced a simular issue and knows how I can fix this? Its still under warranty but I would prefer to try and fix myself if possible.

My touch screen stopped working in early October without myself doing any changes that I'm aware of. The Windows Anniversary update came at that time and might be involved.In the Device Manager, there is no touch screen under "Mice and other pointing devices". There is a "HID compatible touch screen" under HID, which I've tried to disable and to uninstall. It comes back after reboot, but still no function.It could of course be a hardware problem, but it's usually not.... /Andreas

The issue has already solved, just writing for thos who might have the same issue. One day when I turned the notebook on, the keyboard and touchpad did not work. Restarting ddi not help.The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working.  Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

Installed Windows 10 on it, and it didn't fix it, reset to Windows 8, no fix, upgraded to 8.1 and still no fix, all updates and drivers installed, tried the device manager thing, yet still no touchscreen response. It doesn't even show up in device manager. Also, now the display, doesn't cover the whole screen, there are black bars all around the edges.

Press Windows+X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Find the Touchscreen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller(A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".  Don't worry, it won't blow up your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Re-open the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

Hi everyone, The touchscreen of my idepad flex 14 stopped to work suddenly. I have upgraded to Windows 10 recently and  didn't have any problem but now the defect came up. I have checked the device manager and the HID compliant touch screen driver is there (Version from 2006) and seems to be ok. I have tried to upgrade the driver but Windows says that is the latest version. Is there a driver from Lenovo for the touchscreen device? The touchpad stopped working a few weeks back, thought it might fix itself so I've left it and been using a mouse through the USB. Then that was playing up so decided to look for a solution to the touchpad issue... Read on here about it being the driver, so I updated that through the website but then whenever the touchpad was touched, the laptop would go to a blue screen with the stop code: KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED and then 'What failed: ETD.sys I have now done something so that this doesn't happen when the touchpad is used (not entirely sure what I did), so I'm not getting a blue screen, but it still doesn't work to move the pointer!! It says the driver is there and all uptodate when I look through the device manager.. Thank you!

Hello everyone. I must say that it is a lovely laptop but the touch screen issue is making me very upset. I called  Lenovo and Microsoft support and those people doesn't even have a bit of knowledge. Many incertain process and lot of doubts in them. But it can't be a hardware problem. I bought it 1 week ago and when I opened the factory sealed box the touch screen worked perfectly! And a few hours later would stop working. No pen and touch input available, no hid compliant touch screen in device manager. I read almost every thread about this complain in this forum. Tried everything without success. The laptop is 99% good.. But without the touch screen is like trash. Hope someone can understand and if there's a solution, please tell me and I beg you send me specifics links or specifics procedures, please don't tell me "go to support.lenovo.com"  or "do a system recovery or windows 10 update", etc. Thank you.

I have a year old Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4-1470 laptop.  The computer works perfectly, however the touch screen does not work all the time.  Some of the keys on the keyboard won't work, some areas of the screen do not register my finger everytime, etc.  I took it to the place of purchase (Office Max) and they ran a diagnostic check that came up perfect... the computer is working like it should.  I have a warranty on the computer for 3 years trough SquareTrade.  I don't use the touch screen really at all (only use it because it's there), but I'm annoyed that it doesn't work correctly because it's only a year old.  Any suggestions on a fix?  I can't find a calibration reset for the touch screen or any kind of up system reboot.  Any help will be appreciated.

Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this?  P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.

Thanks Edit : Just realised that the touch sceen is working fine with the pen, but I get absolutly no response when using fingers. Don't know if that helps diagonse anything

I've had this issue as well. It's not an isolated incident. There are hundreds of posts online related to Lenovo Flex 5-1750 (80XB) talking about how the touch screen has stopped working. It happened to me after I had this device for less than a month. I was unable to update the driver. Even with a tech support person from Lenove we could not solve the issue. So I was told to return the laptop because it's a hardware issue that they need to fix. Yesterday I wrote in another post and said that Lenovo needs to make a driver available so that people can re-install it. Well, it seems like that's just what they did because this morning I've been able to update the driver and the touch screen is back. Windows 10 was able to troubleshoot and apply a driver update. This may or may not work for your situation but the problem is real.

My laptop automatically updated in Sept./Oct. It took about an hour and had multiple restarts, so I am assuming it was a Windows 10 update. I am not 100% sure though. Hello; I purchased 2 Flex 3 laptops a few weeks ago.  One of them had an intermittent touchscreen problem.  It boiled down to a USB driver issue.  In the Device Manager under USB Controllers I got a yellow Triangle with an exclamation next to "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".  If I disabled and then enabled that driver the touchscreen would start working.  I ended up returning that laptop thinking it was just a faulty unit, but today my 2nd Flex 3 did the same thing.  As far as I know all my drivers are updated an I'm running Windows 10. I don't really want to have to disable and enable drivers every other day so I'm wondering if anyone has come across this issue and if so if there is a fix. Attached is a screenshot of the Device Manager.

Hello everyone, my touch screen on my lenovo ideapad z400 touch is not working anymore.  The only weird thing I remember is some ghost touchpoint on my screen. I've been looking for the answer to this issue, but it seems that Lenovo does not address this problem.  If someone has found the solution to this problem and wants to share it with me, I will be forever grateful.

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps.It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

Got this notebook two days ago and tried to use the tablet mode. I realized that the touch screen wasn't working and went to check the device manager only to find out that the HID compliant touch screen driver is missing. While checking, I noticed that Wacom device driver also could not start as well (Code 10). Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I really would like to use the tablet mode of this laptop instead of having to return it due to the touch screen not working.

Hello all,      So I bought a Flex 3-1120 a while back and decided to install Linux on it. I had some compatibility issues so I reverted back to Windows last night. Now that I have Windows everything works fine except the touchscreen doesn't work at all. There's nothing in the "Device Manager -> Human Interface Devices" except for something called "GPIO Laptop or Slate Indicator Driver". I've read there should be some kind of touch screen driver there. ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa...
