X260 Windows 7 keyboard battery mode keyboard inpu...

Q: X260 Windows 7 keyboard battery mode keyboard inpu...

Hello, I am running LenovoX260 with Windows 7, I additional installed the lenovo updatecenter. All drivers are updated according to lenovo7 update center. Symptom: Basically, when the machine boots on battery all keyboard strokes are delayed for roughly 5 seconds or an easy touch of touchpad or trackpoint -- whatever comes first. The machine has not a high load at this time and no keystroke is lost. It is just delayed strongly. To make it more complicate, this symptom disappears until next reboot when I lock the screen with win+l and reunlock the screen with my password. It also disappears when I plugin the powerplug, but it also reappears when I unplug it again on the login screen. Once I relogged/unlocked this effect does not reappear. Booting with power plugged in is fine. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a Dell 7737 laptop and from time to time it develops a firmware glitch where random keys stop working for both BIOS Setup and Operating Systems. After such thing happens neither shutdown (Full shutdown / Fast Boot disabled) nor restart get the keyboard back to a normal state. At this point the only workarround is to disconnect the AC power cord and then either drain the battery or physically remove it.
This laptop's battery cover is not designed for daily removal and it is starting to get loose because of this BIOS bug.
I am running BIOS version A14 but this bug was present since I purchased the laptop with BIOS version A07. Sometimes I cannot even type my password because the random keys that stop working match those it uses.
Please Dell could you provide a BIOS hotfix for this annoying issue?

Backstory: We are a large university with about 2000 students and 150 or so teachers/employees, we have an SCCM server and deploying Windows 7 Enterprise across all our windows based devices. We recently received 30 X260's from a SLA. We have zero issues with our T450s' and T430s'.  ISSUE: The X260's deploy correctly, but once the login screen is displayed the keyboard becomes unresponsive. It'll accept the first key, then 'freeze' You can still use the mouse, and TAB to change to the password field, which also is unresponsive. Interestingly enough i also experience the keyboard becoming unresponsive at the ThinkVantage bios screen (where you select a diff. boot device). We have opening 4 of the 30 total computers recieved, all with similiar faults. Tried solutions:I manually installed Win7 Enterprise from a USB drive, but during pre installation im prompted for a driver CD/DVD, the x260 doesn't have a CD/DVD drive.... Installation quits. Later today im planning on trying a manual Windows 10 Enterprise install to see what happens then.  Has anyone else experienced these issues with their X260's in conjuction with SCCM at enterprise environments?

I'm a ThinkPad fan - I own a number of ThinkPads (an X250, X260, T450s, T460s, and a T470). I also use a ThinkPad T480 at work. Unfortunately, I have come across an issue on my X260 - it sometimes misses spacebar keystrokes. This is a very big problem for me because I type fast (around 120 words per minute). I have not experienced this issue with any of my other ThinkPads. I have firmware 1.40 installed (the latest available). I have over 400 days left on my X260's warranty. You need to post on the Windows 7 forum since 'XP Mode' is a Windows 7 feature.

Not on my Win 7 machine with XP Mode installed at the moment (at work at the moment)

Try this: Start XP Mode, and in XP Mode go Start>Control Panel>Regions and Languages. Select the 'Languages' tab and then 'Details', then under 'Settings' tab click 'add'. In the drop down menu select 'French (France)' and OK.

You can switch between different keyboards now English/ French by pressing Left ALT+shift.

The above assumes that you had English set as your default language/ keyboard when you first installed XP Mode.

This must be done inside of XP Mode and not in the Regional and Language settings in the Windows 7 Control Panel as it will have no effect on the XP Mode settings.

So, I bought this top of the line Latitude 12 M7 with 4K screen, and that was a biggest mistake for all...
The battery life is like 2h 2o min, and that horrible keyboard with a stand behind the screen is not user friendly. I can't even use it on my lap, and thank you for some "horrible" re-engineering design, the Latitude 12 doesn't have a keyboard like the 11 or 13 has! So no built in battery to power the tablet, and no regular laptop style closing lid. Why??? Why someone design something backwards ?
By any chance the Latitude 11 keyboard with the built in battery would fit with the 12? Or in the near future they will realize this model is way overpriced, and the battery life is a joke ?
I am at the point to sell this, forget about I7 and 4K and just buy a Latitude 13 6 gen M5 with a working battery life. Any of you have a suggestion, what I should do? Is any other model recommendation with size of 11-13 , with a decent battery life?

I was surfing the web last night and all of a sudden, the computer restarted. I walked away to get a drink of water, and when I came back, it was still restarting and it continued this over and over again.

I watched it go through the process and when it gets to the screen where it asks you to select Start Normally, Use Safe Mode, etc., the default is Start Normally. So I tried to select Safe Mode, but found that the keyboard doesn't work. This is odd, because the keyboard is fairly new and had been working just fine. Also, during one of the restarts, I entered the BIOS setup and the keyboard works fine there, but once I exit the BIOS setup, it stops working.

Any thoughts? Is it a Windows keyboard driver that is corrupt or something?

I just bought a new custom machine from Zuke.com, good service by the way. I got it built with motherboard, power supply, RAM and video card. I figured I would just install my old hard drive (Seagate Barraccuda 160GB) and be up and running. Upon boot up, I get this:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

I have a setup of Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5 shortcuts for switching keyboard layouts on Windows 8.1.
Once I boot up my laptop they work just fine and the layouts shortcuts setup window looks like this if I open it:

However now when I close my laptop, putting it into sleep mode, and then open it again, the keyboard shortcuts stop working and if I open the aforementioned setup window, it also looks as if I have none configured:

To get my shortcuts back after sleep mode I have either to reboot the laptop, or assign the shortcuts again manually.

This is a problem I've experienced before on this same machine (Lenovo Yoga 13) with Windows 8 (before the 8.1 update) and I guess at that time it dissapeared after some editing of the list of layouts I use.

However now I've added some layouts to the list, and then removed some of them and so on and here is what I get again.
Maybe there is some branch of Windows Registry involved with the layouts and keyboard-shortcuts messed up and I could simply remove the registry branch and start with a clean slate?

A:Windows 8.1 is forgetting Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5 shortcuts designated for keyboard layout switching after waking up from sleep mode

I've got help with this issue: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1261058-windows-81-is-forgetting-ctrl12345-shortcuts-designated-for-keyboard-layout-switching-after-wa/
Windows seems to overwrite personal layout controls configuration with defaults on some occasions. Hence, the way to have a "permanent" solution basically appears to be rewriting your HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control
Panel\Input Method\Hot Keys with what you have in your HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control
Panel\Input Method\Hot Keys once you've configured your layout-switch shortcuts correctly.
This is in fact an old legacy bug, apparently from the times of Windows XP: https://superuser.com/questions/327479/ctrl-space-always-toggles-chinese-ime-windows-7
I would love to have it included into the Microsoft's bug tracker, but I don't seem to find my way through connect.microsoft.com.

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series
Touch screen laptop. I got it for Christmas two years ago. I have used this laptop for many things but for some reason it's been acting up for a long time.
First the touch screen kept glitching and it would act as if someone was touching the screen when there was nothing there.
Then half the keyboard stopped working and I know it's not locked cause I checked. Then the whole keyboard stopped working to where everytime I pressed the 'I' key it would come out as "mmmmm..." or any key I pressed it would come out like that. I had to eventually shut off the touch screen and turn on filter keys. Since then I've just been using a wireless mouse and the touch screen keyboard.
Now the battery isn't charging the laptop. It will turn on if I plug it in but it won't charge it. And since the keyboard doesn't work I can barely get passed the bios page when it says " This battery charging is temporarily disabled. Press F2 entering BIOS Setup Menu. Battery Status for details. Strike the F1 key to continue." Which I can't because the keyboard doesn't work."F2 to run setup the utility.

Please help I can't afford to buy a new laptop.

Issue: With a battery installed in the keyboard portion of the Split, the BIOS main screen, where it lists Primary Battery SN and Secondary Battery SN, secondary battery is listed as N/A. It's not seeing the battery. I ordered a replacement secondary battery & installed it, no change.I updated the BIOS to F.20, and immediately after the BIOS update, it saw the battery. Once. After rebooting, it was gone again. So, what I'm wondering, is, after looking at the service manual, it looks like the following parts could be at fault. I just dont know which one without having them on hand to try.765843-001 - Hinge (This one I doubt)746493-001 - AC Board (Power cord plugs into this board, which then sends the power across a cable & into the Audio board, where the battery is plugged in)736894-001 - Audio Board (The board that the battery is physically plugged into)736883-001 - Cable Kit (includes the cable that connects the 2 boards in the keyboard) Unless I have 2 bad batteries, which I find highly unlikely, it has to be one of those 4 things. I've looked online & found no solid answer. Also, I'm not going to discuss Windows whatsoever, because it's not related. The BIOS doesn't see the battery, and that's all the proof I need that there's a problem. PS: I have tried disconnecting the tablet from the keyboard, then plugging in the power cord & the charging LED immediately goes white. @shouck886?, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  With this battery issue try popping it out and inspact the socket.  Make sure there is no corrosion.  As well if you have a volt meter check to see if there is the correct voltage coming off the battery. I have purchased new batteries in the past that had sat on the shelf for a while and they worked but only for a short time. If there is no corrosion and the battery is showing full voltage. then you are dealing with a board issue on that side.  You have already updated the firmware so you are covered there. The next step will be talking to HP phone support for repair options. Use this link to contact HP support. Contact HP Support. Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

I bought a Toshiba Satellite Click 10 (S/N: XF028276S) almost a year ago, and I heard that there are different versions of this model in different countries. Unlike other versions which has a second battery in the keyboard, the US version comes with only one battery in the screen. Now I'm wondering if I can do any of the followings:
1. I assume there is an empty battery compartment in the keyboard, can I buy a compatible battery, unscrew the keyboard base and do the installation myself?
2. If the above doesn't work, can I buy a compatible keyboard base with pre-installed battery inside, from outside the country?
I called Toshiba CS center a couple of times and their representatives gave me contacts of 2 authorized parts suppliers, I called them but was told they cannot help me. Both of them said I should talk to Toshiba again.

Help! So I have a Split X2, that I absolutely love. Well the keyboard completely stopped working. Anytime I connect the keyboard to the tablet, the screen shuts off completely, as if the battery is dead. When I tried charging it, it wouldn't hold a charge. The tablet itself works fine, but it's difficult trying to complete college assignments and work on it, without a keyboard. Now it's to the point that sometimes when using just the tablet, the screen keyboard would freeze up in the middle of whatever I'm working on, and I have to shut it down and restart it. I would like it fix it but I haven't had no luck with any help. Please
