Yoga series laptop replacement problem as unit box...

Q: Yoga series laptop replacement problem as unit box...

HiI got this yoga series laptop on 1st April 2016,and on the first day itself i figured out that it had 2 problems, first the laptop use to not start when it use to go in sleep mode.. i needed to do force start and second problem was that the wifi connection use to drop after every 5 minutes. I gave it to the retailer on 4 April and they changed the motherboard of a brand new laptop!! and gave it back to me telling that problems are solved.. But the second problem of wifi still exists!!! Now they have taken the laptop back.. Now i requested them to give me replacement as i don't want a second time repaired unit.. They were asking me for the box of the unit which I don't have .. They are saying that some unit number which is written on the box is required. This was brough from Sharaf DG, Dubai .. Sharaf DG again asked me for second time for the box, I DONT have it... They can get that number from their database.. What should I do in this case? I will not accept a faulty product especially after paying a huge amount for it.. I cannot contact lenovo team as they dont have a call center in UAE (jumbo handles the service center here) ThanksSonal Thanks

Preferred Solution: Yoga series laptop replacement problem as unit box...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello dear people,
English is not my native language. This is Dutch. This is a google translation, the language exuseert you s.v.p. errors. Now my problem: I wanted a different Windows version on the Laptop Satellite by my grandson install. To my surprise, this is not possible. As far as I know I have done everything right and in the past I have already several times a Windows installation on different brands of Laptops. I have followed the instructions in the manual for this Laptop well studied and try to implement. On the Toshiba by my grandson did not and I do not understand why. What I did: I first the start order set for USB with the F12 key, then click F10 pressed and start again. Next, did not begin the installation, but returned after the boot just to back the existing installation. Then I made a few more attempts, unfortunately without results. Can anyone tell me, what I did wrong and point me how I need to run a Windows installation on this toshiba Satallate. I would be very grateful for a comment and a little help.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre 700 series desktop computer from Best Buy.  Though the performance seems to be okay, I've found one 'feature' that is extremely frustrating...the motherboard has a proprietary PSU connector.  The 725W aftermarket PSU I purchased can't be installed because the Lenovo motherboard has a 10+4 pin connector for the PSU whereas the aftermarket PSU has a 'standard' 20+4 pin connector. Since Lenovo advertises this as an "Easy to Upgrade Powerhouse", do they sell an adapter to use aftermarket PSUs?!  If not, is anyone aware of an aftermarket solution that I can purchase?  I would think that enough people have encountered this issue that someone would offer a plug-and-play adapter cable. I've already reviewed the following post on this forum, but it primarily desribes a solution that involves cutting wires and using a paperclip as a jumper.  It also mentions a 24-to-10 pin ATX adapter cable at a site called Moddiy, but a later post says that this adapter unfortunately doesn't work.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-Y-and-ErazerX/IdeaCentre-700-10-Pin-Atx-Connector/td-p... Is anyone aware of an adpater that will work? Thanks in advance.

I brought a brand new  HP envy unit  for my son's school last July 30 2016 from authorized retailer here in the Philippines and after only 2 months ( 1st week of October) of minimal usage ranging from typing, surfing and playing casual steam games it suddenly stopped working unable to turn on. I brought the unit to  the authorized retailer where i bought it who in turn asked me to bring it to a HP authorized repair center where diagnosis of defective motherboard was made. We decided then to bring the unit to HP repair center directly  on October 14 and up to now it isn't fixed yet. In fairness HP repair center is constantly updating me with emails telling me that the defective parts is being imported from other countries and so on and so forth. I am totally peeve as the unit costs 60,000 pesos (1,200 US$) and yet the motherboard become defective at so short a time. It has been three weeks,  almost a month now and yet it isnt fixed yet. My son depends a lot on this laptop for his studies and he agonizes a lot as he hasnt any laptop to do his school works. I think i got a lemon product and i would like HP Philippines to give me a brand new replacement as this cause enough pain already. Please help me to forward this sentiment to the proper authority who would help me with this issue.

I had a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Pro that started giving very poor battery performance and the case was getting very hot.

MS agreed to either repair/replace under warranty but I needed to ship it back.

Before I shipped it back I did a Windows 10 System Image Backup to a USB drive hopeing that if MS replaced with a new Surface pro 3 I would be able to restore the Image to the new unit.

MS has as I thought replaced the Surface Pro 3 with a new one but I am struggling to restore the image to this new one.

It is asking for a recovery Key ?

Am I right in thinking that you can restore the Image to a replacement unit ?

Many thanks for your help

A:Windows 10 System Image Recovery On Replacement Unit

No. The system image you have done on the old Surface Pro cannot be applied to another Surface Pro.

If you go to the folder that contains the system image backup, you will see that the folder has a name. That name is in reference to the machine it took the backup from.
Your new surface pro has a different computer name. Do a new system image with that new surface and you'll see it has a different name.

Dear Forum Users,

The original HDD in my notebook has reached its life cycle so I have to replace it.

I would like to know which purchasable HDD units are available for this particular notebook model?

Could I use any SATA 2.5'' notebook HDD as a replacement drive or the Toshiba branded ones are suitable exclusively?

A:HDDs suitable as a replacement unit for Satellite Pro L300-1B9?

> Could I use any SATA 2.5'' notebook HDD as a replacement drive or the Toshiba branded ones are suitable exclusively?

Yes, usually all SATA 2.5? HDDs should be compatible since the SATA controller is downwards compatible and even if you would use an SATA II or SATA III HDD, the notebook should be able to handle such device.
But of course the performance would be limited to SATA I

Looking for the part number and where I can buy a screen replacement for my Yoga 920-13IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80Y7. Screen cracked (touch no longer working) and I cannot seem to find anywhere online showing the replacement part. Have called many repair places and they cannot find as well. This is the 1080p model. Thank you, Jeff

A:Yoga 920-13IKB Laptop Type 80Y7 Screen Replacement

Welcome to forums.
Have you tried parts lookup and then Lenovo Encompass store?  Don't post you serial number online.  If you input at the parts lookup site you  should be able to confirm the part number.  I input just generic 920-13ikb at parts lookup.
I'm not saying price is great but they do have it at Encompass store.

I have been very stupid and managed to break the door protecting the RJ45 connector. Since this is also the part that allows any ethernet cable to be plugged in, I would like to buy a replacement part. On most Lenovo laptops, the door and its FRU number is specified in the parts list of the relevant Hardware Maintenance Manual. Hi all, About 1 month ago I dropped my X1 Yoga on the ground and the screen cracked. I don't have the warranty on this laptop. This is an OLED model and I spent some time finding a proper screen replacement. Now I just received the new unit and very carefully put it in, connected the 2 wires, and tried to turn it on. The laptop boots up with a black screen, keyboard is working, and I can enter Windows and hear the notice voices. But the screen is not turned on, no backlight, no image, although it looks identical to the original screen and is connected in the exact same way.  Any suggestions? P/N is 01AW977.

A:X1 Yoga OLED - replaced screen unit not working

My guess is that you blew the backlight fuse (on the motherboard) when the screen broke.  Most shops don't do that sort of repair.  I will need a new vocabulary.  OLED screens don't have normal backlights.  I will have to call it the illumination fuse.

Hey, I just got my Lenovo Yoga Book with Windows 10 today, brand new. When I first booted the machine up there was no new user startup, it automatically logged me in to the "Administrator" account. The desktop has some generic wallpaper with bright red Chinese text one it, with programs on the desktop like WoaProc.exe, rework.cmd, Server_RunInPad.exe, shutdown.cmd, and TelephonyTool_Eng_V1.1.exe. There is also another user account, "WWTE." Upon researching this myself it seems that I have a test unit that Lenovo forgot to wipe. Is it okay for me to continue using? Should I just use it as is? Do I wipe the unit and reinstall Windows (btw, the unit itself has no recovery drive). Should I return it for a new unit? This is the first time something like this has happened to me, so any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Jon

Hi Guys, thanks for accepting me on this forum.
I bought a Samsung Series 3 notebook from a notorious (rip off) high st retailer 6 months ago. Its been unopened in its box until yesterday when I gave it to my wife as a birthday pressie.
Eagerly opening it, we switched it on but all we got was a lighted back screen and a small rectangular dot. It would not boot up.
Have I been an idiot by not using this laptop as soon as I bought it. ie, has the system closed down ?
I havn't contacted the seller yet.. Thought I would check the experts out first.
As you can tell, My knowledge of computers is very limited.
Thanks in advance.

A:Samsung Series 3 Laptop Problem.

Do you have its receipt?....if so take it back to the shop you bought it from.
Under the sale of goods act you are protected for at least a year from date of purchase, the laptop is unfit for purpose so they can either exchange it or refund your money.

My b-in-l has just bought an Acer 3000 series laptop. It appears to be partitioned into two sections, C & D ~ both of which are around 37Gb in capacity. He keeps getting a message saying that the C drive is nearly full ~ this is despite the fact that there's only around 2.5Gb of files/folders and programs on it. When we right-clicked on the C icon and chose properties, it comes up that 35GB is used up with only around 2.5Gb left ~ this would appear to be exactly the opposite of the way things actually are! Any ideas what the problem is and how it can be rectified? We've run chkdsk (no problems found) and cleaned all the rubbish out but it hasn't made much difference. We've also run all his (up to date) anti-spyware and anti-virus software but nothing came up. His OS is XP by the way...

Although my new HP a1230n comes with, what appears to be a decent video card. Because it is integrated on the motherboard, would I be okay with staying with this card? I am an older guy who doesn't play hardcore games on my computer anymore. But I do want to do video copying with my DVD burner. And, if I did replace it, would the installation of another card in a PCI slot be going into my device manager and do some disconnecting?

A:ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series replacement

Hi Jakatak,
The HP a1230n's are actually pretty nice machines out of the box. They have PCI-Express slots so you are current with video upgrade capabilities if you ever did want to add a 3rd party videocard. That's an Athlon XP system too with a very fast FSB/memory bus.

As far as the integrated graphics are concerned, the Radeon IGP is actually one of the better integrated chips you can get. They are basically a shared vmem Radeon 7000 in capabilities, so playing a plethora of older DirectX 7.0/8.0 games is possible. They do pretty well in 3d benchmarks compared to other integrated chipsets. Obviously, they are not well suited to modern 3d/directx 9.0 games though.

So if you're not planning on installing any newer 3d games and mainly use the PC for video, audio, web surfing, burning dvd's and only light gaming- the Radeon IGP isn't a bad solution for this.

If you wish to get a fancy, whiz-bang videocard that supports directx 9.0, newest shaders and higher performance- you have a WIDE selection of cards in the PCI-Express you can use. NewEgg.com has selections from both ATI and NVIDIA from $110 to $600 depending on how much 3d muscle the games you wish to play need.

I dont know how to see what 6700 card it is but the fan on it fell apart (I got the PC back in 2014). I'm trying to find a replacement to but have no idea what to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:AMD RADEON HD 6700 series replacement fan?

There is no such thing as fan for a card that is the same for all vendors everywhere forever.
A 6770 would likely have a Dust buster type fan and getting a new one from the OEM that made the card will likely cost more than buying a new card.

I have a Dell Inspiron 17 Series 7737 running Windows 8 and have recently noticed a problem with activation of video playback on a specific website.  This is a news site and when I attempt to run a news video, the "show clips" video display area shows a message "playing" but the display area remains black and the video does not play.  I have gone to other news websites and the videos do play as requested.  Any suggestions would be appreciated to allow me access to this news site's videos.  It's just this website.  Everything else works fine.

A:Inspiron 17 Series 7737 Laptop Video problem

It may not be the GPU drivers - in fact, given the description it's not.
If you're using a newer browser and the sites that don't work use Flash, that is one very strong possibility for the cause.

I can print over the wired XP machine but the laptop has proven difficult. I have setup a wireless print server several times before but on HP printers. In the que the satus is "sent to printer" but the document will not print. The drivers are all the newest ones, I can scan from the printer to the laptop, but no printing.
Thanks in advance

A:Problem printing from laptop to Lexmark 6500 series

Did you have any luck in setting up your neighbors printer to print to the laptop?

I have a similar situation....laptop with Vista - this was working fine till last week, I upgraded Vista from Home Premium to Ultimate. Now, cant print to the Lexmark printer.

Called Lexmark Tech support, not much help at all, all we could figure out was that I had to run any program that I wanted to print from as Administrator - then it worked fine.

Did you come up with any solutons?

So I'm having a strange problem with my laptop. While on, and plugged in, it continually flickers between charging and not charging as if I we're repeatedly plugging in and unplugging the AC adapter. However, the laptop charged with no issues when it's powered down. I initially thought that it was my AC port on my laptop, as some of the plastic has been broken off for some time, but when I noticed that it charge while off I was confused. The charging light flickers even on, but stays a solid orange while off.

A:Samsung Series 7 Laptop weird charging problem

If you have a multimeter you could check the power supply (if you know how) I have seen some (Toshiba) power supplies display similar charging symptoms. The last one I tested about 3/4 months ago was rated at 19 volts but when testing without any load it was displaying 17, 18, 17, 18. Which when under load would probably have dropped it further. Anyways a replacement PS resolved the issue.

Okay, so my sister's Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E has a damaged keyboard.
I found a place to buy the part (ebay, various other sites, etc. all sell them...) but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how the heck to get the keyboard off of the thing to replace it.

Has anyone replaced a keyboard on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR series before or knows how to do it? I'm fairly confident in my abilities but I want to avoid dismantling parts of the computer I don't need to, so any insight on how it's fastened on there would help.

A:Sony Vaio VGN-NR series keyboard replacement

sony laptops use (like most do) very small clips at the top of the keyboard, usually 3 or 4 of them along with screws from the bottom,, finding which screws is a trial, unlike Dell who mark the screws (k) for keyboard, (p) for palmrest etc etc.

Once you find out which screws they are get a credit card or similar and slide it across the top of the keyboard between the top and the case, you will feel the clips, use another card to gently lift the keyboard at the same time, be careful once done as their is a ribbon cable on a plug that connects to the motherboard, a gentle pull should pull it out if its a molex type, or else it may be a lift up the black bar type and slide the cable out, or slide a little lug on either side up (to the side etc) to remove the cable.

Hello all,
I want to ask Toshiba support officials to tell me an original model of the fan that does not have this noise problem. I have this laptop U940 for 2 + years and I have changed the fan 4 times so far (ordered from eBay). Right now the noise of the fan starts increasing again so I need to change it again. As you understand this is not very convenient to change the fan every 6 months.
Is there a fan model that does not have this problem and what is the part number so I can order it and where from?
Thank you,
A not happy Toshiba costumer.

Greetings. Am considering the purchase of a refurb T430. It comes with a DVDROM. A:Hdmi tv dispay problem with sony vaio c series laptop

Are you extending the desktop onto the TV or cloning the desktop? If you are cloning the desktop, both screens use the same resolution. If you are extending the desktop, then ensure the display properties are set to the TV's native resolution.

The display settings (varies by chipset brand/drivers) should have options for "TV" use and allow you to manually adjust the screen size. There may also be options for "overscan".

I have a Gateway NV53A and i actually just purchased it last month. I mistakenly placed it on the floor and steped on it very lightly as I got up. The laptop was folded, so as i unfolded it i noticed the stream of cracks on the LCD screen. I then began to flip!

I looked to ebay and saw the Gateway NV53 laptop lcd (understanding i have a 53A, the new screen only said 53) I ordered the new laptop screen from the certified ebay seller. I then took the laptop apart and then installed the 15.6 LCD screen. I turned the laptop on to check if it worked and it did. it worked perfectly. I turned it on again to see if i could access my desktop with no problems and It did. I was excited.

I then took it home and turned it on and now every time I start the computer it directs me to the black screen with a choice of "START UP REPAIR" OR "START WINDOWS NORMALLY." The black screen at the top also displays the following message:

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this."

When I select "Start Normally" my windows vista takes me to the welcome screen where you can see the windows logo and it says "please wait" under the logo. When I select "Repair" it takes it to the repair screen where it cannot find the problem. So now I'm stuck and I cant access my brand new system.

I am thinking this maybe a driver problem or something dealin... Read more

Try tapping F8 after restarting your computer to get to the F8 menu, then select "last known good configuration". If that fails, repeat and select safe mode with networking.

I need some help. The other day my laptop crashed when I tempted you turn it on. My laptop turned to a blue screen that stated it ran into an error. I took it to Best Buy, the geek squad. There they ran a diagnostic and told me my hard drive failed. I would also need a new one. I bought a Samsung SSD 860 EVO. I was able to remove my old hard drive and place the new one in but my laptop still having issues. When I attempt to turn it on it states, ? internal hard disk drive not found. to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive. No bootable devices. Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 enter set up menu, F5 enter PSA?

I?m losing my mind. I?m currently in school and I NEED this laptop to work! Please! I appreciate your help!!

@Bill_F? was kind enough to send me some factory hard drive screws for use and testing. Many thanks to Bill.  These do thread into the soft aluminum of a hard drive, but re-thread it.  Then actual 6-32 screws will not work. The hard drive cage accepts the newer one inch thick hard drives.   I found replacement screws.   Fastenal part number 0170770, description SS FILSLMS6-32x1/4 defined as:#6-32 x 1/4" slottdrive Fillister  Grade 18-8 Stainless Steel Machine ScrewPrice per 25 pc (minimum) is $2.55, total price to local vendor is $3.95 The screws sent were:head diameter 0.26, these were tolerance spec 0.208 - 0.226head height 0.12, these were tolerance spec 0.086 -0.09

I am looking at options to replace a battery in an HP Pavilion dm-1xxx series laptop, specically dm4-1050ea and dm4-1164nr and dm4-1150ea, but  I am confused over battery compatibility. The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02615687.pdf) gives  9-cell, 93-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593550-001  6-cell, 55-WH (2.55-Ah) Li-ion :  553594-001  6-cell, 62-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593562-001 so any of these 3 are interchangeable between the -1050ea and the -1150ea ? no, it seems not - read on.... but I see that in the manual for the dm4-1164nr (also the M&S Guide for dm4-1140sa and dm4-1150ea, I now learn), also titled The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715),  that while the lower rated batteries have the same p/n, the higher rated on is described as9-cell, 100-WH (3.0-Ah) Li-ion : 636631-001 Are these two 9-cell batteries interchangeable, ot not ?  They must have physically the same form because they both accept the same lower rated batteries and also have the same elec. spec - 10.8V ? If they  not compatible, can I be instructed as to why not ? (eg, they aren't the size, incorrect pin-out, internal resistance too high/low, etc) I see that the maintenance and service manual are split into 10xx and 11xx versions, but question regarding the 9-cell batteries still ... I have a Dell Inspiron 17, 3737.  I need to replace the DVD drive.  I have the new one and see that I need to take the plastic facing from the old one and put it on the new one.  It appears that it just snaps on the new one, but I can't figure out how to remove it from the old one.  I hope I don't need special tools, but if I do, where would I buy them?  Can someone please help me?  Thanks.

Never mind.  I found the manual online for my laptop and was able to find out how to remove the plastic facing from the old unit.

Has Lenovo abandoned the P series Yoga models? I don't see any of these for sale and was wondering if they plan to replace this series with something? The gap is quite big for "business" Yogas (that are not Carbons). We liked the form factor and military grade drop specs along with keyboard layout, etc. Ideally something like the P40 series with the change to USB-C for docking (instead of OneLink+).

A:YOGA P Series

Also wanted to know if Lenovo has any USB-C docks that also charge the laptops (that are not made for the *Thinkpad* T/P/etc series, side docking for those specific models). It would be like the OneLink/Onelink+ free standing that has USB-C with charging.

Greetings! I've been using the X220T for hair over 6 years, upgrading it along the way (mainly storage as the RAM is mxed). Love it but the chassis is showing wear & tear and since it is my workhorse, I worry about it. So I was hoping to replace the workhorse with the TP X1 Yoga Gen2 while moving the X220T to play with things like hackintosh, etc. So several questions: I've read a thread here about battery life problems with TP X1 Yoga gen2 ... is this still an issue?Any actual reviews? on the TP X1 Yoga Gen2 (lother than the Tube's unboxing & initial impressions stuff)? For various TP Yoga models (X1, P-series, three digits numbered), is the main difference screen size? Or are there other flagship features that differetiate the various models?Thank you.Takosan

A:questions about TP Yoga series

richk, one of our mods, did an X1 Yoga Gen 2 review in the Lenovo @ CES 2017 forum:
I have a Gen 1 X1Y, a TP Yoga 260, and a pre-production TP Yoga 370.  I like them all - and use them differently as suits their specs.  Along with screen-sizes, several screen resolution options may be available.
