I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).

A:ENDLESS LOOP: Lenovo Vantage Tells Me To Update a Driver That Vantage Says Is Already Up to Date.

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. My 2¢.

The person who posted fix instructions has been banned. Since his instructions didn't work, I'm guessing I should do a new original topic. Here it is:

Endless restart notification began several weeks ago.
Last installed updates on 3/22/16: KB3102429, KB3035583, KB2952664, which remain.
That day, I individually uninstalled all updates from beginning of 2016; endless update checks ensued.

About 9months ago installed Windows10, then shortly afterward resorted to Windows7. Windows10 always downloaded along with subsequent updates but I was able to prevent its installation.

Original hard drive was damaged and replaced following drop to floor. Tech/advisor no longer available to me.

Hi, I recently was prompted to do an optional update to the touchpad driver via Lenovo vantage. Since then the custom settings for the touchpad have reverted to the generic windows mouse settings. There used to be options to turn off taps, gestures etc. I have set the touchpad to low sensitivity for taps but it's still too sensitive when using the touchpad and it often clicks on things I don't want it to. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled based on my serial number and still the same. I'd have thought this is how it is but knowing that I used to be able to turn things off like taps, then this is why I am trying to find a solution. So far haven't had much luck with support via Live chat with Lenovo or via email. Can someone help? I need taps turned off and want to be able to access those settings like just recently.

Hi, i have a Lenovo Ideapad Y510p for about 3 years now. Never had any problems, but today upon returning to my computer, i tried to boot it up, pressing the on button, but nothnig happened. Then i unpluged the charging cable and the computer seem to start up, it brought up the Lenovo logo, then it went straight to Novo button menu, and then everything went black and the computer started booting up on lenovo logo and back to the novo button menu, and it goes on and on, and nothing changes. I had one  chance in the novo button menu, to press Normal startup, and it brought up the automatic repair, and then again it went into the loop cycle again... And the second i connect the power cable to the computer it just shuts down, and doesn't turn on. Have no idea where to start or how to fix this.

If you feel its stuck in a loop close it down and force the advanced boot options. Exit and continue to Windows 8.1 which triggers a reboot with options. System restore is one. A feature to return the laptop to an earlier time.

Windows 10 sure is buggy.  I attached a refurbished HP 800 NVMe SSD to my P72 and when attempting to clone to it (or even format it) I got the message "Driver Verifier DMA Violation."  The BIOS says "No Security" for the Thunderbolt controller, so that's not the problem.  I used <F8> to get to a command prompt and attempted to disable the Driver Verifier by typing  verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail Still got the same message.  Then I tried verifier /bootmode oneboot Still got the same message on the second boot after that. Then I went into Startup Recovery Options--and chose the option to disable driver signature checking.  Same result. Then I tried the Power On / Power Off method (after POST) two times; on the third try, the computer is supposed to go into the Recovery Environment, but it doesn't.

I recently formatted and reinstalled my Windows 7 OS. Windows has since detected hundreds of updates and has been installing them. Unfortunately, upon restarting Windows has informed me that it has been unable to install updates, and had to revert to old settings. Then when I shut down it attempts to install them again, only to fail upon reboot, revert to old settings, and repeat the cycle again.

I have disabled automatic updates for the time being, with the hope this will temporarily correct this problem, but I need a more permanent fix. Any advise would be welcome.

Thanks.

Over the past 2 months, Windows update (Win 8.1, HP Pavilion) has failed three times. After selecting the recommended downloads, the PC goes into a permanent loop of updating, restarting, failure to update, return to previous configuration and then attempting to install updates again with subsequent failure & endless loop. I have to use the 3-finger salute to interrupt and regain control. I have currently disabled automatic update. This odd pattern occurred last fall with my Vista laptop (Toshiba), but after ignoring all updates for about 2 months and then re-enabling updates that laptop seems fine & recent updates have gone smoothly. Now the problem is the Win 8.1 PC and its inability to install updates. Suggestions?

Hello all,

I have a lab (of about 20 of the same machines).
windows 7 professional, 32 bit OS, 4gigs ram...

Three of these machines recently have become stuck in an endless loop after some windows updates. They reboot at "applying windows operation 1170".

I've recently put Deep Freeze on these machines, and they're stuck in a frozen state right now.

I've tried safe mode, startup recovery, unfreezing via the server console... with no luck with anything.

So, I'm assuming Deep Freeze is the cause of the problem. Is there anyway I can get into the computer to disable it?

Hey all. I updated my friends system to the f.20 bios - and it now comes up that the bios update did not succeed, and then it restarts. This is an endless loop - which never lets me boot into windows - so I cannot go back to a previous version of the BIOS. I have been reading around the forums and discovered a method to try an emergency recovery by getting the rompaq bios and holding down the Windows Key + B when I turn on the system. Just bought an external USB Floppy drive to try this emergency recovery. I tried the USB - but it wouldn't work. I am getting different results here - but not what I want. With the USB Floppy plugged in: When I hold down Win+B - the caps light flashes  for a lot longer now, it looks like it initializes the floppy drive (green light comes on for just a moment) - but then nothing - just flashing caps lock for a bit and then finally a restart again into the doom loop. It never appears to begin to read the floppy disk or search for a bios file. What am I doing wrong? What can I try? Does the disk need to be leabeled a certain way? Does my BIOS file need to be renamed? Any help would be GREAT!!!!

I had a very similar experience.  Here is how I fixed it. Download sp41954.exe from here  or search for it.  Double-click on the file to launch the application.  If you are running Vista or higher, close the program, go to where it extracted (C:\swsetup\sp41954) and find the file FirmwareUpdater.exe.  Right-click on the file and select properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".  Launch FirmwareUpdater.exe and create a bootable diskette.  If you are running XP, you can create the bootable diskette from the sp41954 directly. Power off the laptop.  Connect the USB Floppy drive with the newly created diskette to the laptop.  Hold down all four arrow keys while turning on the laptop.  Continue to hold down the four arrow keys until you see either the num-lock or cap-lock key flashing ( don't remember which).  It should be reading from the diskette.  After a minute or so, the laptop should reboot and operate normally. When I did this, I disconnected everything from the laptop and removed the battery.  I do not know if it was necessary to remove everything or not. Hope this helps.

I am currently stuck on build 10532. My frustration is due to the mandatory reboots that Windows 10 keeps scheduling during the middle of the workday, often when I am away from my computer. I have disabled this "feature" in the update settings but it persists. Windows 10 has downloaded build 10547 and keeps insisting that it needs to reboot to install it, but reboots never attempt to install anything; it is a routine reboot.

In troubleshooting this issue, I attempted to opt out of the Insider Program and downgrade to RC builds. When looking at those options, however, I discovered an error message: "Your Microsoft account requires attention to get insider builds." I clicked on the "fix" button and it had me log into my Microsoft account, including all that dual authentication stuff. In the end, the wizard closed out and I was presented with a "next steps" button to click. So I clicked that and it looped me right back into that same login wizard requiring dual authentication, at the end of which I found myself right back at the "next steps" button and the persistent error that "Your Microsoft account requires attention to get insider builds."

Clicking directly on the "stop insider builds" hyperlink below that button produces a popup box stating that "We need you to do a few things to stop receiving builds." Below that statement is a hyperlink titled "How do I opt my device out of In... Read more

Vantage and Lenovo System Update both use the SU catalog. The SU catalog is updated with the new driver around 30 days after it shows up on the support page.Lenovo must quality test the driver and build .XML entries for the catalog. Thus your support page has the most current drivers.

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and want to send a shoutout and a Thanks for all that everyone does on here.

I have a Gateway Win 7 64 bit desktop PC, that is having issues with Windows Update.

I guess that I have not been paying attention to my Windows Updates and I have not done a normal shutdown of my PC in a while. There were strorms coming up and I decided to power down. It said configuring updates, do not turn off PC. The next thing I noticed a few hours later, it was on my grey Gateway start up screen saying something along the lines of Failure configuring Windows Updates, Reverting Changes...." After like three hours, I was back in business. Well, the computer at random times tries to re-run the updates with the same message. Finally, yesterday I searched and found Microsoft's "Windows Update Troubleshooter." I ran it and it said that it fixed all of the updates. I even did a couple of reboots and Windows started normally.

BUT, last night, my wife noted that it said that the computer needed to reboot to allow updates to finish processing and of course, it went through the whole Failure configuring windows upates, reverting and such. Arrgh!

How can I fix this? I thought that the Troubkeshooter tool might work (and iot looked like it did) but then it tried updates just a few hours later.

Thanks for any guidance!

Not sure if I'm using the right term but while either of these programs are checking for updates, cursor focus is contanstly being pulled to either the app itself or the numerous background processes it seems to be opening. Seems minor but this means you literally can't multitask or do anything requiring typing while checking for updates, because your cursor is constantly being moved out of whatever you're trying to do.  This is especially a problem because of how long the scans take to run.Few addl questions: - Are these two apps doing the same thing, and if so, why are there two of them?  Just noticed the 'System Update' one today, Vantage I have had since purchase - Why are there numerous 'Setup' popups being generated in the background while these programs scan? (see photo attached). If you Alt-Tab during the process, you can see many exe / software shell things opening and closing (is this what pulls focus away?).  - Is there anyway to fix these programs so they run truly in the background?  Can't imagine it's a big ask to clean these up a bit. Thanks!

On the X1 Extreme with the latest 1.17 Bios you can set it to run in Discrete graphics only mode instead of hybrid with the Intel. (You technically could prior to this bios, but it had issues that could brick the unit). Problem is if you do a frwsh install, Vantage will always show the same "Nvidia And Intel Drivers" package as available, if I had to guess because there is no Intel and it checks for that. The driver says "Installed Version:Not Available" which makes me thing there is a detection issue. The first install works fine, but it will always show up as an avalible update untill you hide it. Installing it again and again does nothing. And you can then open the Geforce experience software and it will then update to the true latest version, but Vantage will still show it as available after and if I had to guess would break something if it installed over a newer version. On a test fresh install, changing it to Hybrid and installing then changing back seems to work, but if you start out as discrete, it always shows that already installed update untill you ignore it (so this likley wouldnt of shown up in their testing as their systems were likley hybrid origonally).  Just a heads up to anyone and hopfully someone who can address this sees it. Also if anyone knows a better place to just simply report bugs like this in a way where it can actually get past level 1 tech support and submitted to someone who can address these issues id love to know it.

Hello, This functionality has never worked, even when new.  Lenovo Vantage tells me my S/N is invalid and then gives me a different BIOS value every time I run the program.  I suspect this is why the Update functionality doesn't detect anything new for my device (I can see newer drivers on the website).  Also, the auto-detect on the website does not work either.  The Automatic Driver Update scan fails (An error occurred while downloading packages.).  There's another place on the site that lets me try something, I forget where.  That didn't work either because it couldn't recognize my device. Is there anything I can do to get this functionality to work?  I don't want to factory reset the device just to try this, especially since it never worked before.  Worst case is that I'll manually apply the drivers--and there probably won't be any more new ones going forward--but that's annoying. Thanks

I noticed this morning that attempts to start Lenovo Vantage would return the following error:"Vantage has Encountered a ProblemPlease restart your computer and try again. If the problem continues, click the Install button below to install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver." The problem persisted through a reboot and installation of the Lenovo System Interface Driver (currently running version 1.1.17.1, and am uncertain what the previous version was). The last major change was the installation of Windows 10 64-bit 1809 feature update. There had been a number of minor changes covering Windows security updates and driver updates triggered by Vantage itself since I last used Vantage. Has anyone faced this problema and know the solution? Would appreciate any advice.Happy Holidays BTW.

Friends from Lenovo,Since I did the update to the Windows 10 October Update of the operating system, the Lenovo Vantage application does NOT work on my notebook Lenovo ThinkPad X220, and keeps asking me to install the System Interface Driver, which I have already done about 3, 4 times, and the problem is still there: Lenovo Vantage does not open!! Therefore, I need to ask you if you can tell what do I have to do to solve this problem and achieve that the Lenovo Vantage application do open up in my Lenovo ThinkPad X220 notebook. Could you please tell me what do I have to do to achieve that the Lenovo Vantage application do opens up on my Lenovo ThinkPad X220 notebook and stops asking me to download and install the System Interface Driver? Thanks so much for your help!! Yours truly,Cristián Palau

Just updated to Win10 ver 1803 aka April 2018 / Spring Creators update. Now the color setting in Lenovo Vantage no longer work. It doesn't change no matter which color profile I choose. Aside from this, night light in Win10 also stopped working. It is not grey out, but no effect regardless on or off. Can anyone that is on 1803 confirm this?

So it's not a huge problem, but after updating the BIOS on my T480 from V1.17 to the current release V1.24 the Lenovo Vantage tool still reports (on lower right corner of screen) that I have BIOS V1.17 installed. The update installed normally and I have verified that V1.24 is installed Boot --> F1 --> reviewed installed version. I thought you guys at Lenovo might want to check it out. I do have the current version of Vantage installed (latest version offered by the Microsoft Store for Win 10 Pro): V 4.27.32.0

A:Lenovo Vantage reports incorrect BIOS version after BIOS update

See below.  Basically Vantage "may not"  show current BIOS version.  It will eventually "catch up".  The data is cached.

Leave the services window open and access c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution.

When I access Windows Update 'Installed Updates' there is nothing there apart from Office2010, Adobe Reader, Silverlight and Visual C++ updates installed.

There are always three pending updates to be found in Windows Update: KB2977759 and KB3004469 and Windows IE9. The two KB updates will install, then show up in 'Check for Updates' repeatedly or occasionally fail and show error 80070002. The IE9 update receives error code 9C48.

Running Windows Update Troubleshooter displays error 0x80070003 - not fixed.

I've tried this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/910336
All drivers are updated.
Also tried WSUSoffline.
I've more or less tried every solution that I could find over several days of trawling the net. At this stage any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
