Preferred Solution: "Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface" / Other Norton Messages

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:Teredo tunneling pseudo interface

1. Open command prompt with administrator credentials (Find CMD and right-click - Run as Administrator).
2. Enter netsh environment. Type "netsh" and ENTER.
3. "int teredo" and ENTER
4. "set state disabled" and ENTER.

6. Open command prompt with administrator credentials once again.
7. netsh + ENTER.
8. "int ipv6" + ENTER
9. "set teredo client" + ENTER

I'm sure everyone has head about it before, but I've seen as many solutions as there have been questions about it.

My TTPU seems to be malfunctioning. I'm getting a code 10 error... unable to load the driver. Trying to update it has failed, as it simply tells me I have the latest version. At the moment, it's disabled, but I have no idea what it does for me, so I'm worried about having problems leaving it that way. ...of course, since it wasn't working in the first place, maybe not.

How should I go about fixing this thing? If there is a solid, known way to fix it, can someone please post it here? One fix I tried before getting nervous was editing the registry, but the directions given didn't actually lead to where they were supposed to lead, and so I never changed anything.

If anyone knows a good way to fix the driver for this device (or at least to make the system load it properly) please post here. Thanks.

Hello, could someone help me / give me some indications, i notice in the device manager that uneder netword adaptater a device has is disabled and the message is This device is disabled. (Code 22) Click Enable Device to enable this device. If I enable it the message is This device cannot start. (Code 10) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. But the Check for solution does not provide any answers. I've read the tech documentation on MSoft web site, but that does not help me to understand what prevent this device to be started. The system is running under Vista Sp1, ultimate, with 3Go Ram and a 2.2mhz Centrino pro processor. Best regards

Don't worry about it - that is used with IPv6, which is not widely used, yet, and it cannot start because your computer is not running IPv6 because (most likely) your router / modem does not support IPv6.

I am helping a friend that has Windows 7 clean his computer.  It is a Toshiba Satellite.  It has 4 gigs of ram and is 64bit.

The problem I am having is that it will not go on the net wirelessly.  He is not able to get on the internet wirelessly but can with an Ethernet cable.

I went on line and read to go to the Device Manager and then to Network.  Expanded it and it was suggested that I uninstall (not delete) the Teredo Tunelling Pseudo Interface.  I went into the device manager and found that the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo Interface is not working.   have done that and after restarting it no longer shows under Networking.

After restarting the Teredo is gone and the other Network adaptors appear to be working.  I am not able to get on the internet wirelessly.

I have looked all over the net and can't seem to find a way to correct this.

Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

This driver was the name was listed, and it had a yellow exclamation mark. Nothing happened, so then I had the brilliant idea to uninstall it altogether, but finding the diver to reinstall has been challenging. OS windows vista (I know).

Im trying to install the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo Interface in the Device Manager. I have found a very temporary fix which is changing the value of the registry DisabledComponents under tcpip6 to 0, but once i change the value it takes around 5 to 10 minutes for the computer to go into a BSOD. Once i change the the registry value back to the default, there are no crashes whatsoever, but without Teredo no online features will work in Forza. Id appreciate any help i can get towards this issue. Im really am stuck.

I had believed it was the cause for my connection to my router, but no internet.. however, I seem to just have made it worse. For all those people out there who are missing this interface on there Windows 7 computer there is a solution, but you might not like the way it needs to be fixed.

"What is teredo tunneling pseudo interface?", this interface is built in the operating system as well as the drivers for this device, it allows a secure connection to another computer using IPv6 protocol. It is also used for connecting to a network securely.

If you uninstalled by accident or you don't see it in device manager under show hidden devices, then you have lost this capability.

If you want to fix this then list your post ok

Hello, and thanks for letting me join. There is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it.
When I use HP Support Assistant to try and download Bluetooth drivers as instructed, they are failing to install, as are the CyberPro drivers now. I am also getting a message saying "error" (no number) when I go on to the desktop. Details on the driver say it was installed by Microsoft File Version 6.2.9200.16384 (win8_rtm.120725-1247).
I don't know what is happening here - I am not a techie, I'm afraid! The laptop is still under warranty but although I have asked hp for help I have had no answers to my request on what to do.

Hi

We did a number of updates on our Dell 530 Inspiron desktop. The computer runs very well, although it will not stay asleep. After the updates, we noticed the Device Manager indicated that the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface had a Code(10). I followed all of the recommended reinstall driver recommendations, used Microsoft "Fix It," tried Device Manager/Action/Add Legacy Hardware to no avail. Now, under network adapters I now have the following: (1) Intel(R)82562V-2 10/100 (2) Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter #2 and #3. The machine runs perfectly except for sleeping as mentioned previously. It easily connects to the internet.

I would appreciate direction on (1) approach to solving this problem and/or (2) solution already listed that seems to fit this situation. Quite honestly, I don't feel like my skill level allows me to do much if any with the computer's registry unless it is very simple.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to this question.

For the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface either ignore it or right-click on it and see if you can disable or delete it.

For the waking up problem the first thing to check is possible devices waking it. For example, if the mouse is allowed to wake the machine it will sometimes do so as the result of the tiniest vibration.

Hi jake21 The Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter is used to convert IPv4 communications to IPv6. It's normal for the device to show as not working (Code 10). You don't have to worry about it since you most likely don't use it. You can ignore that warning.

Question.

I accidentally uninstalled my Teredo IPV6 Psuedo-tunneling interface. I figured it would re-install itself after a re-boot like many built in drivers do, but it did not. I have googled it trying to find a suitable download source, but no luck. Is there any way to re-install, or find a source to download a replacement driver, maybe a link.

A:Teredo IPV6 Pseudo-tunnelling interface.

Are you using IPv6 to connect? If your not sure then your probably not. IPv6 really isn't used yet so its not a big deal. It causes more headaches then its worth.

But if you really want to re-install it go ahead. This thread states typing this into the command prompt then rebooting the machine: ipv6 install

Then after it is installed just disable it, don't un-install it.

After disabling Teredo Tunneling-Interface(TTI) I gained back 10% of my system resources in Windows 7 and it fixed a problem with Symantec 360 v3 pop-ups. Ever since I first loaded Windows 7 I had immediately had problems with Symantec's security suite. Getting pop-ups that notified me of being connected to a shared network. I've been searching for weeks now to figure out how to either disable the pop-ups or get an updated from Norton. I'd go through the logs of the security history and see that I was having what looked like hex mac addresses either attempting to connect or disappear from TTI. Finally last night I came upon a site that showed 3 simple commands on how to disable TTI, because it is not a necessary service. In fact, it'd be good to read up on it, because it might become useful to turn back on if the internet ever upgrades to IPv6. Anyways, after doing this I noticed a 10% gain from my system's monitor gadget and Windows even asked me to re-run my Windows Experience Index (WEI). I'm still in some ways wondering why it took up so much of my resources?

A:Teredo Tunneling Psuedo-Interface???

Teredo Tunneling Psuedo-Interface is used for Homegroup and TCP/IP v6 which is part of Windows. Which is normal in Windows Vista through Windows 8.

Which format are the videos in? Windows Media Player does not support all video formats only the common ones. Windows Media Player might support the audio portion of the video because the audio side would be a different format like mp3. To find out the format of the video right click on each on then select properties then select "Details" scroll down look for "File" the name of the video format will be listed after the file name E.X. Filename.mp4

Download and install VLC Player which supports many video formats more than Windows Media Player.

Hi,

I think it's easier if I broke this question in two parts... Please bear with me... :-)

I have 2 computers in a homegroup at home (Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bits), behind a TP-Link TL-WR740N router (and ZoneAlarm Free 9.2.076.000).

Both computers have Teredo enabled, but the Ultimate one is always running ("qualified"), whereas the Home basic one is mainly "dormant", unless, of course, I try to reach a website which "triggers" Ipv6 (e.g. Test your IPv6.).

Since both computers have exactly the same programs installed (and homegroup file sharing by itself doesn't change Teredo status - on the Home Basic one it remains "dormant" even while I'm doing so), why does the Ultimate computer has teredo always in "qualified" status? Does Windows Ultimate 7 enables this "qualified" setting (even if there's no Ipv6 trigger) by default, maybe due to its unique features (e.g. DirectAcess)?

If not, what else would trigger Teredo?

The second part relates to the first one... I'm not very comfortable with the Teredo service running all the time, due to security reasons... It seems that the process keeps some ports open, and that the traffic is not filtered properly (or at all), by the NAT and/or the Firewal.

So, how safe Teredo really is? Should I worry leaving it running all the time? Or should I try to minimize the potential security risks by finding out how to make it run only when really need... Read more

FYI, not related to your problem, but NVidia 210.70 has a severe vulnerability in it that viruses are using to take over systems. You should upgrade to 210.90, which fixes it.

Reinstalling (or better yet, upgrading as I suggested) the video driver MAY solve the problem. It sounds like it's definitely driver related.

It may not be but neither Amazon nor MS will take any responsibility for it not being genuine so I've given up with them both. I think that the issue arises because of hardware changes I've made. Oh - yes, I've lost the box with the key on it too.

Long story short. I use this PC very little and when I first first got the black screen and messages after I installed a larger hard drive and reinstated the drive image from an Acronis backup. I stupidly forgot to reinstate the drive signature. Then it happened again when I changed the ITX motherboard.

Now here's the real question. Every now and then it gives me the "black screen" treatment. I fix it by restoring a drive image and turning off W7 updates.
If the damned thing is told not to call home then it shouldn't should it? What's going on? It seems to give me a month or two and then goes psycho on me like HAL9000!

A:How do I stop W7 "calling home" and displaying "not genuine" messages?

If this is an OEM version then I can understand why it's doing this after you changed motherboards, since it is forever tied to the first one it is installed on.

If you can follow these instructions for activation issues,

Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions

The results of that can help resolve your issue.

Filling in your system specs will help as well,

System Info - See Your System Specs

If your installation is valid then there's no reason to turn off updates or try to keep it from calling home.

The "Idle-time Full System Scan" in Norton 360 v4 is bogging down my computer constantly, and there is no option to turn it off in "Automatic Tasks".

I contacted Norton and (after several attempts to find someone at Norton who could understand what I just said above and getting "hung-up" on over Norton chat. Inexcusable!!!) I was able to get a hold of a technician who told me that Norton intentionally removed this option "for security reasons, because they didn't want people turning it off".

The problem is, people will then be forced to turn it off by turning off ALL scheduled tasks (under "Settings/Scheduling/Schedule:Manual Schedule") and that is an even worse security problem than the relatively small one that would be created by turning off idle-time full system scanning.

Once the system has completed a full system scan, all files are on-access scanned anyway, so running a full system scan every 3-4 days is rather silly and extremely annoying--especially, because it will continue to try to run every time the system is idle if you cancel it.

A warning urging the user to not turn off idle-time full system scans without fully understanding the risks, and after explaining the risks, would be VERY preferable. Or at least the option to run the full system scans when the system is idle on a certain day of the month/week! The schedule for idle-time full system scans really needs to be separate from other tasks. In fact, t... Read more

"401 Authorization" and "Protected Object" Error Messages
Could some please explain the correct sequence or syntax of the http entries in the Internet Explorerís browser address line to invoke the name and password entry box for a D-Link Camera, when accessing it remotely?

I have a dynamic host, which has an address that is entered in the browser's open box, in the following format:
http://servername.dynamichostnameortnumber. The port numbers are the ports assigned to the two cameras. The server name is the same server name that is assigned to the router and the DYNdns host. The dynamic host name is set up with DYNdns.org and has been tested using their tools and is reported as working.

I have tried the remote (internet) access on computers running both Windows XP home and professional, service pack 3.

The cameras are DCS-6620G 802g Wireless cams. Have configured cameras. If I am on my wireless intranet, I can access the cameras by either typing in their local IPs into the open box on the File Menu of Windows Internet Explorer or by using the IP Surveillance Software, no problem, so far. Each camera has an internal static IP, and each has been assigned its own HTTP port number which has been forwarded to the respective static IP in the Linksys WRT54G router.

Each Camera has an administrator name and password that has been saved. When accessing on my intranet, either through IE or the Surveillance Software, there is a drop down box that opens to... Read more

I have a home network of five computers where one acts as a common computer ("server") where most data from the other four computers is stored (music, pictures, word processing, movies, etc). All five are running XP Pro SP2.

The "server" had two 80GB hard drives, but SMART was indicating that one was failing, so I replaced it with a 200GB drive. Now, every computer in the house can access the 80GB drive and all of its files but none of the computers in the house (except the "server") can access the new hard drive. I have the file sharing set to full access, and I can view the file folders that are on the drive from the networked computers, they are all listed. But when I click on a folder, I get "Access is Denied." When I mouse over a folder, it reads, "Folder is Empty"

But the folder isn't empty though when accessed from the local computer, only when trying to access it over the network.

I have turned off the Windows Firewall, turned it on again, off again, etc, no change. I have Zone Alarm on all the computers, turned it off, still no change.

Any ideas??? I have over 500 CDs on that harddrive, and I want to listen to music from my other comuters! I'm going nuts here.

A:"Access Denied", "Folder Empty" messages

There are two ways that might work.

1. From a computer other than the server right-click "My Computer" and choose "Map Network Drive". Where is says "Folder" type "\\<ip address>\C$" if you want to share the C partition of that drive (don't type the quotes).
2.
Go to My Computer and and click on the Tools Menu and then Folder Options.

Click the view tab.
Scroll all the way down until you see "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)" and uncheck it.
Click OK.

Now right-click the drive you want to share and choose "Sharing and Security".
Click the security tab.
Click "add" and add "Everyone".
Give "Everyone" the rights you want them to have "Read only" or whatever you want.
