I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, My x270 (20K6) has a broken motherboard.  I have found one on ebay (20HM). My 20K6 has the Sierra EM7455 Card which works great.  Does anyone know if the 20HM is also compatible (whitelist, etc) with this card? Having a very difficult time answering this question using the lenovo websites.  It looks like they are recommending the Fibocom L831-EAU.  Thanks for any light anyone can shed - appreciated.

Hi Team,I have a Thinkpad x270 (System Model 20HNCTO1WW) and have purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad EM7455 4G LTE Mobile Broadband (Part No: 4XC0M95181).I was very surprised that I only saw two signal bars compared to my Singeltel-Optus LTE USB stick (HUAWEI E3372) which shows four signal bars. Also the throughput (up and download) seems to be faster through the USB stick compared to the now integrated and embedded Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. Do I have some sort of antenna interfeerence/performance? Any other issues I should consider. Thank you for your feedback Cheers Jose

A:X270 WWAN perfromance

Welcome to the CommunityBad signal possible causes:- wwan antennas cables inside of the laptop are routed rough, with corners- red and blue cables are connected to the modem unproperly (mixed)- the antenna cable or connector is broken- the connection of the cable and modem's connector isn't reliable- the modem is connected to the cellular base station with low signal strength- etcLow performance possible causes:- low signal/noise ratio- the connection is established to 3g network, not LTE one- em7455 and e3372 operate in different network frequency bands with different signal strength and bandwidth- etcTwo commands below might show some information. Good evening all! I am a very happy owner of an X270 laptop, running Gentoo Linux. Everything (with the exception of fingerprint recognition) works very well indeed. I want to put a second SSD in the WLAN slot, but I am struggling to find clear specifications as to what can be fitted. Can anyone please point out where I should be able to find this information, or better still give me a clear specification so I can order a drive. I am looking at https://www.scan.co.uk/products/256gb-scanfx-sm961-polaris-m2-nvme-mlc-v-nand-ssd-pcie-30-x4-read-31...It appears to be correct, but I am not sure if the physical size is OK or not. Many thanks for your support!

A:SSD Specification for X270 WWAN slot

Hello and welcome,

I don't have hands on experience but based on these documents that SSD won't work.

First, the 2nd SSD goes in the WWAN slot - presuming you don't have WWAN or WiGig already.  The WWAN slot doesn't support NVMe, and isn't that physical size.

http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20X270/ThinkPad_X270_Platform_Specificatio...

"Some: 128GB M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, in WWAN slot as 2nd Storage,
mutually exclusive with WWAN and WiGig"

Looking at the HMM, the SSD tha would fit is 2242 SATA.

Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X270

The SSD you linked is 80mm NVMe and could go in the primary slot - with proper frame and cable - but not in the WWAN slot.

I would like to add an SSD to the WWAN slot in my x270. I have read around that the format is M.2 NGFF 22*42mm. This KingSpan seems to be the cheapest option I can find. A similar KingSpec on Amazon. The 2nd link shows the CrystalDiskMark scores, and they are way down on my current main SSD in the x270. Are these cheap SSD drives worth it? Trust worthy? Is there a better / faster option that isn't going to break the bank? As much advice as you have is appreciated.

A:Best SSD for WWAN slot in x270? (M.2 NGFF)

From the documents, that's a SATA slot.  ~ 500MB/sec is the best it can support.

I have a disk spinning X270 and I plan to upgrade the SSD. After reviewing a bunch articles I decide to use the WWAN slot.I saw a thread using a transcend 256G M2 SATA as following,https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X270-Bios-Update-v1-11-Broke-my-M-2-SSD-WWAN-... What I am really interested in is that if I can use the WWAN slot to install a M.2 2242 PCIe, instead of the SATA, such as a Toshiba RC100 M.2 2242 240GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 x2 64-layer 3D BiCS TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) ... There are posts on Reddit saying that the 2242 has to be SATA, but it was in early 2017. Anybody know if it is doable to put a M.2 PCIe in the WWAN and boot the system on?

I bought two brand new X270's WWAN upgradable and bought EM7455 cards separately. I installed the cards as directed. When I booted the laptop the first time after installation, a warning message saying something to the effect of "unknown network hardware EM7455." Windows didn't detect the newly installed card. So I did a CMOS reset (removed the extra battery, disabled the built-in battery on the BIOS and pressed the CMOS reset button to the left of the battery bay). After the CMOS reset, Windows recoginized a new hardware by the name of "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm" but couldn't install the driver (see the attached screenshot). I did install Lenovo's EM7455 driver (total file size 191MB) and didn't work. I turned to Sierra and found a generic USB Build 4581 driver and it didn't work. When I restarted Windows, the newly found hardware was gone. I did a CMOS reset again and it came back up on the device manager list.  So I turned to Windows update. It found a driver update by the name of Sierra Incorporated - Ports dated 10/20/2016. It tried to install it but it failed. However, the device's name was changed to Qualcomm COM Port (3) and it was still not installed properly. I went to the device's properties and changed the port to 8. It recognized the full name of the card but GPRS connecitons on Windows didn't show up. I restarted Windows, and the device was gone again! I checked the BIOS permissions and I tried different scenarios (disabled WWAN, e... Read more

Gurus, Here is what I know so far, could use some help understanding if I'm using a hard drive that is no longer supported (brand new laptop and hdd) I have an X270 with PCIe SSDI added an M.2 SSD in the WWAN slot (confirmed with Lenovo support and parts department that this was supported for my configuration) This worked great in BIOS version 1.10, I had it setup with the M.2 SSD as my boot drive with Win10, and the secondary (stock) SSD as my Data/Storage drive. The other day I applied BIOS update version 1.11 for the X270.  The BIOS was applied successfully, and after restart, I get an error:"2102 Detection Error on storage device (M.2 SATA SSD)"   and won't boot into Windows (that's by boot drive) I was able to roll back to BIOS 1.10 and it again recognizes the M.2 SSD driveI applied the latest BIOS version 1.12, and I get the 2102 Detection Error.  Same with v1.11  Is it possible that BIOS 1.11 removes my ability to use M.2 WWAN Slot drives, or just certain ones?It seems like I can't upgrade my BIOS anymore, on a brand new laptop...  Thanks,Mike

Hello everybody I bring support to a Thinkpad x270. It ran Windows 10 in the main SSD and client decided to buy an extra SSD for saving files. So i bought a Trascend TS512GMTS400 and installed in WWAN slot. Now my problem is every random minutes, The Transcend Disk it just disappears from Device Manager so it became not accessible. In fact if I suspend and restore the notebook, the trascend disk appears connected again and I can use it as usual... but just for few minutes. I tried:- Configure the power manager to never suspend disks. Did not help.- Upgrade BIOS firmware. Did not help.- Using Lenovo Storage Device Firmware to update firmware's disk: It looks like has no support with Trascend SSDs. Now i really don't know what to do. Are there BIOS settings that could help? is this disk compatible with these notebooks? I appreciate every idea or help I can get. Thank you very much.

I had been reading the new review of the T470 from Notebookcheck and something caught my eye; they specifically mention more than once that the WWAN slot can be used for an SSD; http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T470-Core-i5-Full-HD-Notebook-Review.198130.0.html"Between the WiFi module and the 2.5-inch slot is also a free M.2-2242 slot, which can either be used for a WWAN module (antennas prepared) or an SSD""The available storage solutions for the ThinkPad T470 are quite interesting. Inside the chassis is a 2.5-inch slot attached via PCIe x2. This slot can either be equipped with a conventional 2.5-inch hard drive (HDD or SSD, up to 7 mm high) or an M.2-SSD (2280), which is sitting in the 2.5-inch tray via adapter. It is also possible to implement another SSD in the M.2-2242 slot. Lenovo's spec sheet, for example, lists a 128 GB model or Intel's Optane solution (16 GB), which can act as cache in combination with a conventional hard drive."I'm hesitant to assume this will apply to the new X1 since it doesn't have an option for HDD and therefore no need to configure the WWAN port to support an SSD for caching. Can anybody test/confirm this? I've read documentation on the new X1 Spec sheet and hardware maintenance and it mentions nothing about support for additional devices in the WWAN slot. I'd kill to be able to have a separate SSD for a linux install so I don't have to mess with bootloaders every time windows has a major update.

Hi everyone, I'm a student and planning to buy the Campus version of the Thinkpad T480s with the Nvidia chip. It doesn't come with a WWAN module, but I'd like to add one. Information on that topic seems sparse and I tried to look for M.2 slot WWAN modules at different online stores. I found a few ones, namely- Huawei ME906S, listed to be compatible with 2016 Thinkpads- Sierra EM7455, listed to be compatible with the *70 series Thinkpads- Fibocom L831-EA (Intel XMM 7160), listed to be compatible with *70 series Thinkpads According to this reddit, at least the Huawei and Sierra ones are incompatible unauthorized for a T480s which, if true, is simply inconvenient, annoying and disappointing. As I mentioned above, buying a Thinkpad with a pre-installed LTE module is not an option because I'd like to have the Nvidia chip and am buying a Lenovo Campus Thinkpad which comes at a reduced price (and in Germany, it's the only way to get one with an Nvidia chip). As the Lenovo configurator and the T480s platform specifications indicate, the Fibocom L830-EB (Intel XMM 7262) and Fibocom L850-GL (Intel XMM 7360) are officially used and should definitely be compatible. However, I can't find them anywhere except pre-configured with a Thinkpad, which is not an option for me. Can anyone please help me with either of the following:- Is the Fibocom L831-EA (Intel XMM 7160) authorized for and compatible with the T480s?- Is there any place where I can get a Fibocom L83... Hello,

I recently had issues with my PSU and rather than play guesswork on whether its still functional, I rather just replace it.

My motherboard is a m3n78-pro. Its a bit dated but I'd like for this pc to last another 6 months before I build an entirely new rig. If I read the manual correctly, it requires ATX 12V V2.0.

The PSU I'd like to change to (since it just has to last another 6 months) this 900 w PSU. Would the m3n78-pro be compatible with this PSU? One concern I had was that the m3n78-pro requires a 4 pin ATX +12v connector. If I read the PSU's specifications correctly it has one 12V 8-pin (4 + 4) CPU power connector. Is that 8-pin two separate power connector, ie do I just use 1 of the connectors to fit into the 4 pin ATX +12v connector?

Please excuse my noobishness but what exactly does the v2.92 Motherboard specification entail? I tried to google it, but got less useful information and product results from newegg.

Also I read the wiki on the ATX 12V V2.X standard, but it didn't answer my question - is ATX12V v2.3 backwards compatible with the ATX12V v2.0 standard?
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

I need some advice about the displays for the x270 ? is the HD display on the x270 an IPS? I didn?t find this info here https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/ThinkPad-X270/p/20HNCTO1WWENUS0/customize?...! My current x240 with has HD resolution (I can?t tell if it?s IPS or not) model 20ALCTO1WW ? I?m considering replacing it with the x270.I?ve heard good things about the FHD display but I?m concerned that with the FHD panel my font size will be too tiny for my 50+ year old eyes in its native resolution. I?ve heard that scaling the display results in suboptimal rendering/quality of text/fonts. Has anyone looked at both versions of the display? How do they compare? I?ll be using the system for mostly coding/writing and perhaps watching some videos. No Graphics or PS intensive work. Might hook it up to the tv from time to time (not that often) The display on the x240 isn?t the greatest (could be brighter for sure) but it works fine, so I could probably do fine with the same type for the x270 ? or is there something that I ought to consider? Thanks! PS: FWIW, I?m planning to get the i5-7300 model with 16 GB RAM and the 500 GB drive (that I plan to replace with a standard SSD 500 GB or 1TB drive ? hopefully not a problem).

Hello, I just got an x270 and want to upgrade the HDD to a large spinning disc. The specifications sheet says the computer takes 7mm thick 2.5" drives. https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20X270/ThinkPad_X270_Platform_Specificati... I opened the computer and put a 9.5mm drive in the plastic drive holder and it fits perfectly.  Is there any reason I can't use a 9.5mm drive in this computer?

I can't seem to find a power input rating for the X270 I currently have on order. Of course, I know you can use a 65w with one, but it won't improve charge times if the amp input is limited. The store pages don't list the AC adapters output ratings by adapter and the C.S. chat reply was, "I don't have that information available." I know the output on the 45w is [email protected] simply because I already have one for my X240. Anyone with a 65w willing to post the output for me would be greatly appreciated. More appreciated would be anyone that happens to know what the X270's input ratings are so I can determine if charge times could be cut with a 65w. TIA

A:X270 45w vs. 65w AC Adapter

Thet are all 20V, 3.25 amps

I   replaced the keyboard of my X270, not realising how much more difficult this process was than on an X230. I got everything working, and it powered up fine.  But my X270 wont power on. It recognises the AC adapter. Pushing the emergency powerup pinhole next to the battery doesn't work either.  I suspect that the power button is not working. I opened up the laptop to investigate, and found that a connector around the area of the power button is damaged (pictured).  The wire seems to have detached from the smaller connector.  My questions:Is this connector related to the power button?  Can I find a replacement, or repair with soldering?  Where can I find a map of the motherboard so I can confirm what this part is myself
