Microsoft Visio Standard 2007 install/uninstall problem

Q: Microsoft Visio Standard 2007 install/uninstall problem

I needed to free up space on my C: drive, so I attempted to uninstall Microsoft Vision Standard 2007 -- but the uninstallation would not work using Add/Remove Programs. So, I hastily used the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to remove it, which is appears to have done to some extent.

Problem: The program is still appearing in the Add/Remove programs pane, and it won't allow me to uninstall from there.

I've tried reinstalling Visio from the disc, but receive this error right before it quits:
"Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2007 encountered a problem during setup."

I don't want the program anymore, I'm just trying to remove all traces of it from my computer without causing further damage.

When I run Microsoft Office Diagnostics, I got this result:Setup Diagnostic ? Missing media

The Setup Diagnostic was not completed because a valid source was not found. Either the local installation source is missing, or the original source that was used to install Microsoft Office is not available to the repair process. You may need to provide the original source to allow this diagnostic to run successfully. Valid sources for the 2007 Office release include the following:

Your 2007 Office release installation CDAn installation disk or repair CD provided by the vendor of your computerA connection to a network installation of the 2007 Office release
After you obtain access to a valid source, run Office Diagnostics again.
Any help would be great,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A few years ago I got a copy of MS Project Standard 2007 from my daughter's school which I installed and activated on my new office PC when I built it, using a one time only product key (Academic Promotion).
(FYI - upon careful reading of the license I saw that the software is for a current student or teacher - or a family member of a qualifying student, which was true at the time and is still true until May of this year)

Now I am considering upgrading this PC to Windows 10 in a clean install.

My understanding is that I will lose Project 2007. I will not be able to activate it again on my "new" PC and I will have to revert back to my previous Project program or buy a new/old copy of 2007 (and factor this additional cost into my decision making).
Am I correct?

Second question: since I already have the installation media, is there a way to just pay Microsoft for a single license - new product key without having to go through the whole dance of buying another DVD?
I'm not interested in newer versions, and especially not interested in paying $25/m for Project 365.

I installed office about 2 days ago and I've received no updates for it and I know there are updates. There was a place at the end that asked if you wanted to go to office update and another box that said don't use windows update and I checked it by mistake. Is that why I'm not getting any updates for it? If it is how do I correct it.

In your Windows Update, select Change Settings, make sure Give me updates for Microsoft products etc. etc. is ticked.

Yes you can use it. No problems.

In fact, there is no "64-bit" Office suite out yet. Office 2010 will be the first to offer a 64-bit version.

i have been using microsoft office 2000 - but was unable to fix the error that prevented "detect and repair" to work. i had downloaded the windows redistribution installer 4.5 but i still could not find the data1.msi. so i decided to uninstall and reinstall by office 2000.

well, of course, now that i uninstalled it, i am unable to find my product key. even though i had the validiation before, i assume that i'm just out of luck.

so i download the trial of microsoft office which is way too user friendly for my tastes. i feel like i am in an alien program. i never thought i'd be the type of person who doesn't like change. (i hope it isn't because i turned 60)

two questions (oops 3 questions- if i do a restore will i get my old office back? will i be able to find my product key in the registry? are there any other office programs that are not so user friendly that you can recommend? Sidepart: i do not like the fact that no where could i find the cost for the trial verison of microsoft. is that legal?

I enjoy your site - i also am having some help in the game section - unrelated to my problem shown above.

thank you for your help - joni

I am experiencing difficulties when trying to uninstall/reinstall my adobe product. At the beginning of the month, I had some issues with the activation which caused the program to lock me out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program thinking that may help it, but alas nothing changed. Had to call adobe to deactivate my serial.

Long story short, the adobe help center rectified the problem with my serial. Supposedly anyway. I have no way to test it because my current installation of photoshop is corrupt due to this licensing mishap. The only way is to start fresh and install the program again.

This is where the hitch is. As I previously mentioned, I was able to reinstall the program once without issue. Now, I can't even run the installer from the DVD. A window stating "Setup is initializing" appears, then quickly disappears. Nothing happens afterwards. Also, I am unable to remove the program from windows. The entry is there in "Programs and Features," however selecting the option to uninstall it does absolutely nothing. No window appears or anything.

The problem seems to only be with the adobe installer. I can remove my other applications and install new ones just fine. It's just for some reason Windows refuses to run the Adobe setup now. It doesn't make sense. The disc is not scratched at all and has never been stored outside its case. I'm at a complete loss what to do next. I can't remove it and I can't reinstall it.

No other version of office installed. Tried installing to a different folder, and even to a different HDD. Any suggestions? Like I said, it doesn't even start the installation...

I have been running a new PC, ASUS Z97-WS, for about four months. Over 80% of my application crashes are related to Microsoft products. I am running WIN7 Ultimate x64, using Office 2007. Word crashes daily reporting ?? software exception (0xe00000002) ?? I have run hardware tests, including Word diagnostics without finding errors. I also run Viso Professional 2007, which attempts to reinstall itself every time I start the program. I can cancel the install or lets it proceed. Once started Viso works correctly. Word is my biggest headache as it tends to fail just when you are saving a file for the first time. If it recovers it normally looses the data entered, it sometimes shows repairs related to image objects but is vague on details.

I have all the latest Microsoft updates, BIOS updates, print drivers, and have disabled all Word add-ons and have replaced normal.doc.

What would you recommend I try to resolve these concerns? Thanks.
PS The programs worked better when I installed them on a previous PC about 6 years ago.

When I hit the print icon on the menu bar the document will print to the default printer.
I don't have that problem when printing from the above applications for a Windows NT 4.0 workstation. (Should I move back to NT 4.0?? - just kidding!)
I searched all Microsoft web sites related to Visio and the Technet also but it seems I am the only one with that problem - I feel so unique but it doesn't help a lot).

I don't currently have Visio installed. But! Do me a favor and go to the properties of the document/page--I forget. Check somewhere in there about printing to a file instead of to a printer. Could be the same with document properties in Acrobat Reader.

Also, if you don't do regular hard drive maintenance, weirdo stuff like this can occur. Send me an email with PHDM in the subject and an autoreply will send you the document.

I have the full version of Microsoft Office 2003. My Microsoft Office 2007 has expired (the 6 month trial that came with my computer). Is there any reason I should not uninstal the 2007 version? I.e., would there be some documents that I would not be able to open in the older (2003) version of Office?

My main reason for wanting to delete Office 2007 is that when I attempt to open a file my computer tries to open it using Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2007. I am confident that I did not create these documents in the program, but rather in Word 2003. Will deleting Office 2007 solve this issue?

Thank you.

We are a small medical practice, apart from the usual horizontal business applications we are running an EMR and a PM system (DBMS based applications; MS SQL Server 2008R2 & Firebird).
We have 4 servers in our network: two db servers for our EMR / PM and two domain servers ? one primary DC the other one the backup DC.

Last weekend I wanted to connect our network to a new ISP ? As this one is working on a different local subnet (10.0.10.x vs. 10.0.1.x), I needed to move the network to that new subnet.
Before I went ahead I used the free 2nd Ethernet port on our dual adapterC to create a bridge between the two subnets to test the service.
Everything looked fine ? until I broke the bridge to go ahead and tackle the subnet reconfiguration. The primary network adapter where the existing network was connected to, showed errors in the sys tray ? driver problems. Looking at the IP4 configuration
I saw that the gateway address of the adapter (static set up) was missing.
I de-installed and subsequently re-installed the driver. After a while the adapter error was popping up again with missing addresses in the static configuration.

I uninstalled and re-installed the driver another time. When the errors continued to pop up I removed the NIC and installed a new one. However it looks like the adapter errors had somehow damaged our PDC installation.

A few weeks ago I created a Visio diagram - a floor layout/seating plan. Everything worked fine.

Now I have returned to the diagram to make some adjustments, and the bizarrest thing has happened: I can't set the dimensions of my objects explicitly any more! When I right click on a shape (say a rectangle), instead of giving me the option to set the width and length, it gives me the dialog attached, which is utterly useless.

I tried rebooting, then I uninstalled/reinstalled Visio 2007. Nothing doing. The only way I have now to resize shapes is to drag their handles - which obviously is just not good enough.

Interestingly, walls still work: I can resize walls by entering their properties. But other shapes just do not work!

What has happened to my Visio? And how do I fix it?

I had downloaded Microsoft Silverlight at one point on my laptop, and for some reason didn't uninstall it, but instead just deleted the files. If I go to uninstall it, I get an error window that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." It will then tell me to find a folder containing the 'silverlight.msi' package. I have been getting messages from silverlight (usually twice daily) that will create a folder in my C:// directory that's essentially a hodgepodge of letters and numbers, and I don't have permission to change anything in the folders or the folders themselves (even when I go into preferences to change permissions). If I try to install silverlight, me thinking that if I reinstall it, I can then uninstall it correctly, it comes up with the same message it would if I try to uninstall it now. Help?

I recently had to wipe my hard drive and re-install Windows. When I went to re-install Microsoft Office 2007 I was told by Microsoft, "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options." When I went to contact HP about how I get Microsoft Office 2007 back on my computer from the contact customer support page they tell me my warranty expired in 2013 and won't go any further than that. I have my product key and everything. Any help would be fantastic.

A:Re-Install Microsoft Office 2007

Hi: If all you need is to download the software to install, I have zipped up and attached below, a tool that will allow you to download the iso file for the version of Office 2007 your key is good for. How it works...download, unzip and run the utility. Select the Office 2007 download button on the right side of the page. Then a new window will open and on the left side of the window, select the edition of Office 2007 your key is good for, then click on the Confirm button. Then select the language and then the Confirm button. A new window will open and you click on the blue Office 2007 download button to download the software.

Ok so I switched my computer out yesterda for a new computer. My old one got a virus in it, and have to use a loaner until I can get it fixed. I use it for college, and the computer my landlord gave me did not come with Microsoft Office. I went to install it on there and I get this message: Setup can not find HomeStudentr.WW\HomeSrWW.cab. Choose a valid installation source....What am I supposed to do??? If I can't get this installed, my professors are going to flunk me this week, and they don't accept anything written in Open Office at my university. I do everything 100% online. Any help would ge GREATLY apprecated.

A:Microsoft Office 2007 won't install

A document written in Open Office and saved as a .doc shouldn't be distinguishable from a Word document.

You can use Office Live or Google Docs as well.

As an aside, any professor who threatened to flunk me for using Open Source software in this manner would get a reminder of his job description and the source of his salary.

First of all, great forum! :P

As you can see from my profile I have Vista Ultimate x64 but I can't install Virtual PC 2007. Basically I downloaded the installer (making sure it was the x64 version), ran it and it all went fine until suddenly the installation just rolled back and said that no modifications were made to the system. It doesn't give me an error message.

I searched on the Internet but I can't seem to find the solution. And yes, I tried both the normal installer and the SP1 version.

Any tips?

EDIT: I now found out that it rollsback when it says "Installing network drivers (x64)...".

Hello Rhystic1, and welcome to Vista Forums.

See if right clicking on the installation file and clicking on "Run as administrator" will allow it to install.

Hope this helps,

A:why cant i install microsoft office 2007 in win 7

Hi -

It sounds like a possible issue with the Office 2007 DVD.

Is the Office 2007 DVD a full retail copy, i.e., did you purchase it from a store other than the system manufacturer?

Regards. . .
