Limit to number of proper Gmail accounts in Windows Mail app?

Q: Limit to number of proper Gmail accounts in Windows Mail app?

So I remember noticing something like this in the previews, but now that I'm running RTM it's still there and bugging me:

SOME of my Gmail accounts seems to connect via an appropriate protocol that supports Push, adding "as items arrive" to the list of download frequency, and removing the outgoing and incoming server fields from the bottom of the settings. Others, meanwhile, appear to be auto-configured as basic IMAP accounts, and therefore are limited to 15 minutes as the lowest frequency of checking.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, beyond POSSIBLY the fact that the first two accounts I set up both got proper push configuration, while the later ones didn't. One's a straight gmail.com, the other is a Google Apps account. Meanwhile I deleted the Google Apps account from it along with another gmail.com and then added back the gmail.com and it still configured it using standard IMAP, and yet included "as items arrive" in the dropdown. And now it's giving me timeouts when I try to add back the Google Apps account I removed.

Anyone else having similar experiences, and can anyone else confirm what the limit seems to be, or a possible workaround?

EDIT: After a system restart the Google Apps account I was trying to add back finally appeared. It's no longer available for "as items arrive," though, and the second account I re-added after deleting it still has "as items arrive" as an option. Meanwhile it appears that the server settings fields appear only if you check the box to sync contacts and calendar as well as email. When I deleted and re-added the only account still showing them and checked that box, those fields didn't come back.

So so far it appears that it's limited to push from only two Google accounts. Anyone else seeing similar?

Preferred Solution: Limit to number of proper Gmail accounts in Windows Mail app?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Limit to number of proper Gmail accounts in Windows Mail app?

An update, FYI: I've since found that I can change, willy-nilly, which two accounts have access to "As items arrive" by taking one of the ones that currently has it OFF of it and down to a longer option. It'll then make the option available to all other accounts until I set it, at which point the rest get limited.

Strange and disappointing. I'd like to know the technical limitations behind this.

I use the new Windows Live Mail client to access two IMAP accounts, Gmail and one provided by my University. Gmail works such that whenever you send an email through it, it automatically puts a copy in the Sent Mail folder. So if the WLM client tries to put a copy there as well, you end up with two copies of the email in the Sent Mail folder. The University IMAP account doesn't work like this. A copy will only appear in the Sent Mail folder for that account if the client program puts a copy there.

So the problem is the way WLM handles this. Most IMAP settings are specific to the account. You right click on an account, go to settings, and then go to the IMAP section and specify the folders and stuff like that. However, the option of whether or not WLM puts a copy of an email you send in the Sent Mail folder can only be set for the entire client.

In Tools->Options->Send is the checkbox for this option. If it's checked, I get a single copy of sent mail in the University account and two copies in Gmail. If it is unchecked I get no copies for the University account and just one for Gmail.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

edit: Oh, and a side question, is it possible to make WLM stop showing the number of unread emails in the trash or spam? They're in there because I have no intention of reading them. I don't care how many are unread.

Having got all of my standard stuff, including having MS Outlook handle my email accounts, sorted out; I decided to give the new Windows 10 Mail Application a try.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to do a darned thing:-
1. With my Hotmail account I get error code 0x80070032. I've tried a couple of suggested "solutions" without success.
2. With my Gmail account I get "We didn't find anything to show here" or "Still working on it". Either way nothing shows up.

Maybe I should just stick with MS Outlook.

However, if anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

A:Cannot get Mail App to work with Gmail or Hotmail accounts

For your Hotmail account, change the setting for getting the emails to 'last 3 days' and see if it works. If it does, change it back to whatever interval selection you want.

Usually when Google or other account say those, it's also a syncing issue. Might want to try playing with those settings as well.

I have both outlook.com (same as Hotmail) and Google working in the new Windows 10 mail app and even on my Windows 10 phone preview build. So they can work if you find the problems with your settings.

I am not sure if you can do this but. is there anyway when you go to file and print in either Word, Internet Explorer or any program and Allow only 1 copy to be printed to the printer. If the box that says the number of copies is grayed out completely so people cannot change how many copies they want printed or they cannot change the number at all it just being a static number. Reason being is i have noticed alot of people making multiple copy's of the same thing in the Labs that i run and can't always be there to stop it. I wish to stop that and limit it to only 1 copy. I Wasn't sure if there is a registry key that i can put in to gray it out or a program i can use or not. There is no domain connected to the lab it is just a simple network (Hubs and router). The labs use Windows 2000 Professional SP4/IE6.

A:Limit number of Copies in Windows

As you are using a simple Network, I assume that all these printers are using a local copy of the printer driver.

You would need to have the driver modified, as I understand it and reload the re-written driver on all PC's?

Not an easy task as the source code will not be available I suspect. I dont think its as simple as a global key in the Registry controlling print run volumes.

How many times can i activate using the key (same computer, reinstalls)?

i bought the win 8 upgrade, but i'm having trouble with an old hardware and it's drivers often freeze windows 8, sometimes corrupting data. So having to do some trouble shooting i have had to reinstall and activate again. I'll try to make an image for the future tough.

so, now i worry if there is a limit. What happens or what can i do after reaching that limit?

After installing SP2 on my Vista Business OS laptop I could no longer send and receive all my mail in Windows Mail.
I had my BT Yahoo mail account set up to deliver all my mail to my POP inbox. This included mail from 2 other servers which could then be accessed through my Mail Inbox. Several of the email addresses are used for a web page that I maintain on an Apache server and cannot be accessed in any other manner. The other server that had mail forwarded to my Inbox can be accessed with HTTP and is not so important, yet still irritating.

Microsoft's answer to problems with the (now unsupported, apparently) Windows Mail that all Vista users have paid for, seems to be exclusively to tell everyone to move to using Windows Live Mail.
So I downloaded it most reluctantly. And it also does not work with these forwarded mail addresses. Just keep getting asked for a password over and over.

I can go to the BT Yahoo server and send mail there out of these external addresses but it is not possible to receive mail.

So is that it, Microsoft? Can I no longer access these accounts at all?

I would change to using Mozilla Thunderbird but it has no facility for importing my huge store of Windows Mail Messages.

Any suggestions anybody, I have spent many hours on this and it is driving me demented. All real help would be most appreciated.

Hi there, a few questions if i may. First : whats the max number limit of user accounts that can be created in XP Pro...cant seem to find any info on it...there must be a limit. ( I am refering to both the logon screen, which i think is 5, and actual number of user accounts in the system like is seen in the "local users and groups" section)

Secondly: The reason for me asking is b/c my friends mom needs to share out a file at her work and they dont have a server. (guessing maybe 7-13 people) All of which are going to be needing very different access rights to this folder. Id like to just create a user account for each person and adjust the folder share rights by each user. And this way each person could have thier own username and PW for making the connection as if they were connecting to a file share on a 2000 server. Any ideas???

And i know she dont want to have her XP logon screen loaded up with all these users...but that i think can probably be avoided anyways with a regedit...i think.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I can't seem to get my inspiron 1000 running windows xp to detect two usb 2.0 hubs. It detects one, but when I plug in the second hub, it never sees it. It doesn't matter into what port I plug the second hub, or if I daisy chain it to the first hub. If I replace hub1 with hub2, hub2 works, but then when I try to plug in hub1 (while hub2 is still active), it isn't detected. So I know both hubs work, but not at the same time. The inspiron has 3 usb 2.0 ports. Device manager doesn't show any problems, but of course it also does not show the second hub under any circumstances. Any thoughts?

We are planning to install a wireless solution to three 2-story buildings and share a single internet connection. Our suggested solution is to get 1 router and few access points to be distributed strategically to the buildings.

1) I know the fact that we have to specify unique IP address on each Access Point but I'm not sure if we have to use the same SSID as the router's SSID. What is the difference between using one SSID to all access points and assigning unique SSID to each access point?

2) If we have to install more than 4 access points, can we up-link a network switch to the router and connect the rest of the access points to the network switch?

3) Is it necessary to hard-wire the access points to the router or is there any way of linking them wirelessly?

4) Do you have a better solution in implementing the above project?

Thanks in advance.

A:Any limit for number of access points?

1) You would want to assign the same SSID to all access points. This will allow wireless clients to roam between access points depending on the setting of the wireless client in how aggressive it is in seeking out stronger radios to connect to. If you have different SSIDs for every access point, the wireless client will not be able to roam.

2) Yes. But I would consider getting a PoE capable switch and then buy access points which can run on PoE. This will provide the maximum flexibility in where you locate your APs for best coverage.

3) You can do WDS but as far as I know, WDS is still limited to only being able to use WEP encryption. Also, if you have the choice, wired is always better than wireless.

4) Depending on the number of access points you deploy, I would consider using light wireless access points which are then centrally managed by a wireless switch.

Hey peeps, I hope I can find an answer here, since searching all over the Internet has proven fruitless for the last 3 hours.

My question is rather simple:
Is it possible to set upload/download limits for each separate user account in my Windows XP SP3 system?

I have downloaded several trial versions of software that does do this, but it can only limit one whole computer and is designed for network purposes. I need software that can distinguish between different user accounts, and be able to set custom data transfer limits.

I have been told by several sources that Vista sysprep limits the number of captures on a system to 3 -- and that the 4th capture will corrupt both the original system and the capture. This is supposedly to guard against piracy, though I don't see how it helps any.

But I can't find any reference to this anywhere on the net, including Microsoft.

Is this for real? Does Vista really limit you to 3 captures?

A:Vista sysprep -- limit on number of captures?

Have you looked here?
From reading it, sysprep is designed for retailers, not home users. However I dont see any limits- it would be pointless if it did, given the function it seems to be designed for. Having said that, in terms of its function, it would only be used once anyway, for a run on a specific setup. as you would be storing to external nedia (most likely I guess) then there would be no way to set a limit, so again, cant see the point. You would need to be setting for identical rigs, so the function is limited.

Try this. Type a 16-digit number in a cell, say:

Then right click the cell and format this as a number, with no decimal places.
Your number has just become:
1234567890123450 (note the last digit is now a zero).

great stuff. Not. It has effectively corrupted your input (changed your value) without notifying you in any way that you've hit a limit.

My question is - is this known behaviour for Excel 2007?

A:Excel 15 digit number limit issue

Hi skydiver welcome to the forums. It seems this is a known limitation of Excel. See below.

Microsoft Excel supports a maximum of 15 significant digits at all times. This limit applies to a value that is calculated by a formula. Because of this limitation, if at any time a formula calculates a value that exceeds 15 digits in length, digits beyond the fifteenth significant digit are changed to zeroes. This may cause the formula to return an incorrect result.

From: Problems vith Statistical Functions and Large Numbers in Excel

Incidentally, I dont know if it helps, but Open Office Calc (which is free by the way ) doesn't have this limitation: http://www.openoffice.org

I wasn't really sure which forum to post this under, but my concern is based on the limited resources available to PCs so I put it here; anyway ....

I'm interning/working at a college, and right now we're talking about the issue of students walking away from the PCs without logging off. While everyone is in agreement that a lockout policy of, say, 30 minutes can mitigate the risks associated with this behaviour, I'm concerned with the PCs slowing down with too many of these locked sessions.

Our PCs are configured to reboot once every week, so if two students walk away from the PC each day without logging off (which I think is a conservative estimate), leaving all their programs open, there could be 10+ active, but disconnected, sessions end of day friday, slowing the PC down for any students who have a night class and logon to that PC.

So is there a way we can put a limit on how many active, local sessions there can be a computer? I'm hoping for something that goes along the lines of

IF new user logging on AND current active sessions >= 3
force logoff oldest session
continue as normal
Any existing programs/built-in windows tools or help with making a script for this would be cool

Going to try to explain this as best I can. I have a bunch of stuff in a database and I need to display this info within a table. This isn't a problem at all but, I need it to only display 3 td tags per line and then move on to the row.

so i need it to do :

<td>My First Row</td>
<td>My First Row 2</td>
<td>My First Row 3</td>

<td>My Second Row</td>
<td>My Second Row 2</td>
<td>My Second Row 3</td>

and continue to do this through every entry in the database table.

so I have something like this that will display the info:

for ($i = 1; $i <= $num; $i++){

$chairArray = mysql_fetch_array($chairResult);
$chairName = $chairArray['name'];
$chairDescription = $chairArray['description'];
$chairImage = $chairArray['image'];

echo "<tr>";
echo "<td>";
echo "<img src=\"images/catalog/ottomans/thumbs/$chairImage\" width=\"157\" height=\"147\" />";
echo "<br />";
echo $chairName;
echo "</td>";
echo "</tr>";

I have a web server with approx. 110 CAcerts installed, and it requests a client certificate on incoming HTTPS connections. I can not connect to this webserver using iexplorer. If I try I get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". However if I disable the request for client certificates, OR if I remove most of the CAcerts installed it works fine. Furthermore, if I try and connect using another client, it works even with all CAcerts installed and request client certificates enabled. This leads me to believe that there is a limit in iexplorer.

I believe that as part of the SSL protocol, the web server sends the client a list of all its' trusted authorities when it receives an incoming HTTPS connection, in order for the client to select a client certificate that the server can validate. Perhaps if this list is too large the client (iexplorer) can't handle it, could this be the problem?

Re: IE8, Vista32

The issue: I hate how the IE8 address bar dropdown autocomplete gives about 25 options -- it's far to long, and just bugs me. I had a tweak (I think that's the term) that limited the dropdown lines to 10 or 12 when I first upgraded to IE8 more than a year ago, but for some reason it has spontaneously reverted to the super-long dropdown bar.

My plea: Do you know how I can change this back? I remember I had to change a value in some menu, but I don't remember how to get there or what to do exactly.

What I've tried: I've crawled various internet sites for the last hour trying to find an answer, but either I'm not entering the correct search terms, or the code/tweak is no longer available/published online. Or I'm crazy and I'm asking for something impossible.

Any help you could give, or even if you could just point me in the right direction, would be fantastic!

We know the drive works, because we can plug it into our other computer which has Windows XP on it and it comes up with a drive letter just fine. Just wondering if there's a limit on how many of these you can use with Windows 7, since we had no problem with the drive until we installed the new OS.

The picture does not show whether the power-supply has enough SATA power-connectors to power 4 SATA devices (1 CD/DVD, plus 3 disk-drives), but you can purchase a "Y" adapter to split from one power-connector to two power-connectors.
I don't know if the chassis will have enough physical space, and/or drive-bays, to hold a 3rd disk-drive.
But, a SSD disk-drive can just "hang" anywhere -- it does not need to be "mounted" into a drive-bay.   :-)
There is an "optional eSATA" I/O port.  So, you could have an external disk-drive, and use an eSATA-to-eSATA data-cable to connect from the external disk-drive to your computer, at "full" SATA I/O data-transfer rates -- much faster than a USB interface.

Are there any settings or hotfixes to overcome this limitation ?

Thanks for your post, and from your word, I know that you would like to configure the maximum connection of Windows 7 file sharing more than 20.

Please be aware that the maximum number of users allowed to connect to a shared folder is limited by software licensing terms. You may allow up to 20 other devices to access software installed on the licensed computer to use only File Services,

Hope these could be helpful. Best Regards, StarSprite

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi folks. I have just started a new job and am using my laptop from home, which has Vista Home. I use Windows Mail. (ok, you guessed there's a budget problem in here). Anyway, I needed to set up a new User to do certain things related only to work. I now want to run Windows Mail from both user accounts on the same computer. Is there anyway I can access the same folders/inbox etc? Obviously the smtp and pop3 details are the same. Just need to work out how to tell Vista its okay to use the same folders.

I have several Pop3 accounts and what I'd like is to have my personal/default email address with one set of folders and another set of folders for my remaining email accounts (I don't get many emails so they're fine to go together.

Is this possible? I've heard something about rules but no idea what that's about. If it's not possible, can someone direct me to a free program I can download that will allow it.

Hello Louise, and welcome to Vista Forums.

For what you described, you might consider giving Windows Live Mail a try. It allows you to setup multiple accounts like you wanted to.

What on earth do I do?

Midday, a spam email was sent from my account to all my contacts. I could still log on, see my emails and send new emails but no incoming mails were reaching my mail box. Asked a quesiton on Gmail Answers forum, but got a useless response

Tuesday, by 2pm my account was suspended completely, I can;t log in? I can't reset my password? there is on line form to fill out to contact customer care, I filled it out, but no one has responded.

Wednesday, still can't log in to my account, filled out the form again, but again no response

Thursday, still can't log in to my account - 8 years of emails lost. Lots of security and privacy concerns. Tried phoning Gmail, but the london number[Removed]is for billing enquiries and you need a credit card, I don't pay for any services from Gmail, and this is not a billing enquiry.

HOW DO YOU CONTACT GMAIL, and I don;t mean an online form, I have done all that, I mean telephone and speak to a person, or LIVE CHAT with a human not a "Bot"

So I want to ask what is Genuine Gmail Phone Number For United Kingdom, is 0800 086 8676 Gmail Contact Phone Number UK

Hi, welcome to TSF

Google don't offer phone support for these kind of problems, only online forms, so be very careful if you decide to use that 0800 number. ie. don't give any personal details over the phone.

It's better to use their official support lines:
Problems signing in to your account
Having trouble signing in?

Do you have a link to the customer care page you used? There are lots of scammers out there pretending to be google support.

Just upgraded to Vista on my way to windows 7. Had outlook before. With the new Windows Mail I have configured 5 different email accounts all of which send and recieve the way they should. With my old email settings if I received on one email account and went to reply, it would send the reply from that email account. With the new Windows mail settings it automatically sets it up to reply from the default unless I change it to reply from the same email account it received it with. I would like it to reply using the same account automatically. Can't figure out how to set it up that way again. Can anyone help?

I have just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.

This necessitated a transition from Windows Mail (which I was using in Vista) to Windows Live Mail (for Windows 7).

I maintain multiple email accounts from different sources (personal, business #1, business #2, etc.), and in Windows Live Mail, each account gets listed separately, with its own Inbox, Sentbox, Deleted Items folders, etc.

The result of this is that when I want to find my incoming emails, I have to check 6 separate inboxes. To confirm if I sent an email to someone, I have to check 6 separate sentboxes, etc.

Since Windows Mail did NOT separate out my email accounts, this obviously represents a lot of extra effort involved, and a lot of searching for the right email.

So, I'd like to have all these accounts combined into one, so that all incoming mail shows up in ONE inbox, all sent mail appears in ONE sentbox, etc. just like how Windows Mail worked (with respect to email accounts, anyway)

I've already been on Windows Live help, searching for answers. I've tried to tweak what appears in the Folder Pane, but that didn't work either.

I'm sure it's just a simple tweak or configuration setting, but I haven't been able to find it yet.

Can anyone help?

Is it possible to have multiple outlook accounts come through your mail application on Windows 8.1? I can't seem to make it happen. It will only display the messages from the Microsoft account I am signed into. For example: On my iPhone I have 3 different outlook accounts linked in my mail app to come to my phone. If this is possible, someone please explain.

This might be a really stupid question but i CANNOT find the setting to combine all my email accounts on the Windows 10 email app and it's really frustrating me, i searched all over google and can't find anything I just dont see the option anywhere.

A:Windows 10 mail app combine email accounts?

Click on the Setting cog wheel at the bottom left
From the panel that slides out select Manage Accounts

Under your email accounts on the next page that appears should be an option that says Link Accounts
Select the ones you want to combine and hit Save
