I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Does HP have any remote control app which canbe used to control volume etc.. for HP Pavilion 27-a010
If you are talking about using your phone as a remote control, then there are several apps for Android or Apple products that allow you to do this. Just search the app stores for PC and remote... you'll need to install the app on your phone and software on your PC from the app manufacturer's web site. I think Google has a remote desktop app if youhave android.Read other 1 answers
I am wishing to upgrade the hard drive in my new Envy AIO since it came with only a 5400rpm drive to a hybrid 7200rpm. I have read from previous posts that it is difficult due to the location of the drive sitting behind the curved monitor and to access it you have to remove it. I also have watched a video on someone doing this but they didn't mention how they were able to over come the strong adhesive that attaches the bevel to the monitor without breaking the screen. Is there a documented way to remove the bevel without force? This seems to be a poor engineering design for hard drive replacement or upgrades as well as memory grades where you have to go a step furhter and remove the motherboard since the RAm is located on the back side with no access. I am a computer engineer and very hardware savy and am very concerned about opening up the system to upgrade the hard drive. Any suggestions for removing the bevel safely would be greatly appreciated.Read other answers
Hello. My new (1) month old computer has no power. It's a tower but has a power supply on the cord like a laptop.90W 19.5V.My multimeter says it is only putting out 16 volts.Computer does nothing. I have a Crystal Soundfusion sound card. I can't get my microphone to work in excite's chat rooms. I get a sound card error saying "another application is accessing your sound card". I have turned everything else off and am now getting "configuration error Code 5".
I have updated my driver and updated direct x. When I go to START>SETTINGS>CTRL PANEL>MULTIMEDIA, my "record" button is grayed out. My device shows cyrstal soundfusion. All my volume settings are fine.
The second part to this problem is that I used to be able to record through ACCESSORIES>ENTERTAINMENT>RECORDER but somehow, while fooling around with my settings, I can't even use this anymore.
I have exhausted every possible FAQ's, forums and tech brains that I could.
Please??? I am at wits end here. Who will be my hero? lol
Boot into Safe Mode and remove all the Crystal entries from Device Manager then reboot. Have those new drivers ready.
That will force windows to redect it and hopefully make it work. As long as the mike is greyed out you won't get anywhere - so don't bother with the volume controls or anything until that is fixed.
I can not get my Mic to work with win 7 - have done all the usual (e.g. update drivers, make sure settings are correct and enabled correctly, checked the mic with other Vista and XP computers, etc.)
I've tried the built in motherboard sound as well as other sound devices (e.g. M-audio Delta 1010, Creative X-fi (PCI and USB) and Diamond).
All indications are that every thing is working OK but no sound is recorded in any of my sound recording programs.
On rare occasions there is sound at a very very low volume but the next time I try there will be no sound at all.
All play back functions work correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have a stock Gateway DX4200-09 (64-Bit) Computer with an AMD 9100e Quad Core CPU.
By enabled correctly, have you checked the Sound/Recording panel in the Control Panel? Make sure whatever sound card you are using and the mic for that card is selected. With multiple sound cards enabled on a system it can also get tricky as only one card can be default for any function.
Is that Delta 1010 working OK in Win 7? I see posts about problems with that in Win7 on the Sonar forum.

Yeah I had some problems using a mic with vista running css too...Im ingame atm but it should be short and sweet.....
There are 3 things to check
1. check the mic is not identically named to any other mic and set as default
2. make sure the volume of the mic itself is turned all the way up (some programs mute it again after using it) and not turned up under the speakers in volume.
3. check the realtec website for the latest drivers or try another mic to make sure its working.
I have suddenly found that my microphone is not working.
In the 'Sound & Audio Devices' Properties, only 'Stereo Mix' or 'SPDIF' can be ticked. It won't let me put a tick under 'Microphone'! And thereby lies the problem.
I have recently installed 'Freecorder' (free software that allows you to record anything that comes out of your speakers, recommended by Computeractive and which is very useful for recording streamed music and other audio content from the Internet) At first I wondered if that was causing this problem. I tried disabling all Freecorder's recording settings and suppressing it entirely in Internet Explorer, and short of actually uninstalling this very useful software, I still can't change the settings in sound & Audio Devices so that I can use my microphone in SKYPE and Windows Live messenger. I also have Audacity installed, but since I haven't used my microphone in a while, I don't know if it is Audacity or Freecorder that is the culprit.
Of course I have tested my hardware in 'Voice Recording' in Sound & Audio Devices but when I try to play back what I have recorded, there is just an awful high-pitched noise coming from the speakers, yet the test says my hardware is working properly. I know the microphone itself is working because it actually does work in Freecorder. I can record my voice and play it back! I should say, the microphone is plugged into t... Read more

I went in control panel and under sound it showed me that there was a line in with a green box and a checkmark under it. But I do not beleive that my PC is recognizing that my microphone is there. They are not interchangeable. Make sure you have the right one for the hardware installed.
My PC only has a rear microphone jack, but when i go into audio devices it says the microphone i plugged into the front jack.
My microphone won't work, does anyone know why this is?
Are you sure none of the other devices are disabled? Make sure all devices are shown, and that the rear audio is set to default.
Wonder if that will do the trick.

I had a pair of logitech and my mic stopped working so i got a new pair of gigatech headset with mic, and i thought yay it will work. It didnt work. So i been looking online for solutions.
However! I swapped my headset and tried using my friends headset, and a firewall notification came up with her headset, and i clicked unblock.
the mic worked with hers. So i thought swap back (Also mine worked for her)
we swapped back and mine still isn't working on my system, not too sure what is happening. I'm gonna try swapping the output and whatnot and test it (like above ToniMartins did) and see if it will work then.

Hey guys. Today my Skullcandy Slyrs broke, and I've got my backup Skullcandy Ink'd headphones here to game with. I've tried every possible combination for default device on playback and capture, as well as communication device and while I've gotten sound to work (despite that not working for about an hour) I can not get this mic to work. I've tested it already and it works with other devices, I've done all the possible defaults (which was horrible as my computer says I have 5 mics yet I'm using only 1 and have disconnected devices off.) I've done the "install generic audio device" solution to replace the IDT audio codec, yet didn't have the right options listed because apparently HP just can't have anything be the same on every computer to make things easy, yet I did install both options for other drivers on the computer and neither made any of my 5 ghost microphones work.I have spent about four hours of my day working on this, and I am in desparate need of my microphone. I'm about ready to offer a paypal reward for whoever fixes HP's god-awful mess on my computer (how is there 5 microphones and 4 audio devices when only one audio device is connected, and why can't I plug my headphoens in and have them work like everyone else?)Thanks.Read other answers

Under control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices, Recording tab, it says "no audio devices are installed" I have tried using 2 different ports and it still doesnt work.
I recently installed to windows 7 from vista, could it be that some sort of audio driver didnt get installed or xfered over correctly? How would i figure this out? My microphone worked just fine when i had windows vista installed.
NOTE that my sound works fine and the audio comes through my headset just fine, but i cant get the microphone to work.

Microphone there? - if not right click under shown devices and enable hidden / disabled devices.

Hi there. I just bought a NIP microphone with an XLR connection. I ordered an XLR > USB adapter on Amazon for use with my year-and-a-half-old Mac laptop (running El Capitan 10.11.5, which is the latest version).
The adapter has a red light that has been blinking ever since I plugged it in, and nothing seems to assuage this blinking. When I set my audio input to the proper microphone, nothing happens--no sound is heard. I turn up the gain in System Preferences and nothing happens. All of the connections are fine. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide. I've never used XLR microphones--I usually just stick with USB.
If it helps, the microphone is an Audio-Technica M4000S.
For some strange reason i cannot get a microphone to work on my computer anymore, i used to use it all the time on ventrilo and online games, but i went on vacation, and no one touched it while i was gone, but when i got back it no longer worked. i have tried 3 mics that all work on other computers, and nothing works. i thought it might be my soundcard but i bought a new motherboard(with 7.1 audio) and still nothing. my computer knows that the mic is there but it wont work. i think that this problem has something to do with ventrilo, or possibly some old audio settings hidden somewhere in my computer that are muting my microphone. i had a similar problem before but with some basic troubleshooting i got it fixed fairly easily. but this time it didnt work.
please help me!!!

To put this in simple terms, my microphone doesn't work, but it isn't because it is broken, it's the computer. Whenever I open up Audacity, the microphone section of sound control, or Adobe Audition it crashes. And Discord's sound settings look this this.
Please download MiniToolBox , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes: List last 10 Event Viewer log List Installed Programs List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy, taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.
Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left. Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Hello. I have a HP ENVY 17t-j100 Quad edition with Windows 10. I tried to plug in a microphone into the headphone microphone combo jack. It does not work. No recording device shows up in the Sound manager or device manager. A few times, it recognized a headphone being plugged in. The microphone plug only has 2 stripes. Does it need to have 3? Is that the problem? Does the headphone jack support a mic with only 2 stripes? I plugged in my earbuds that have a mic and 3 stripes on the plug. It worked fine. Is the other mic just defective, or do I need one with 3 stripes? Thank you.

I have used the second jack for my microphone before (about 2 months ago), but nowadayz when I plug in my mic and try to record my voice, the mic doesn't work. How can I get my mic to work again.
I have checked 'volume control' to make sure that the mic is not on mute.
Thanks in advance.
right click my computer, goto properties / device manager / scroll down to sound, video and game controllers, make sure you have no exclamation marks here and that the correct drivers are loaded.
You have checked volume control, have you been through all settings?? Volume up full ( mute unchecked ) Wave full ( mute unchecked ) Microphone up full ( mute unchecked )
Have you tried the microphone in any other Hi Fi equipment, check to make sure that the cable hasn't been cracked or pulled, make sure the jack plug is seated into socket fully.

Hope someone can help with this. I hooked up a microphone to my sound card, and I can't get it to work. I know that I have the correct jack, and that the mic itself is not defective. but I cannot get the mic to work through Windows Sound Recorder, or any other program for that matter. It worked when I first got my computer, and my speakers work fine, but for some reason I can't get it to work now. I uninstalled and re-installed Sound Recorder, nothing. The sound card is an Ensoniq audiopci sound board, S5016. I checked the manual, and made sure that the "mic" setting in the Ensoniq settings panel was properly checked, and that the "mute" was not. I have tried everything I know how to try and am stumped! Especially since it worked with no problem when I first got the computer.
