I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When i create a new email, and start to type in the person or email address that it's going to, the autocomplete usually fills in the rest of the email address so you don't have to type it all in.

I have noticed with mine that if you do not send an email to a particular person for about a month or two, the autocomplete will not have that persons address in the group and will not fiull it in. It's like it forgets some of your friends email addresses if you don't send frequent emails to them.

Is there any way to change it so that it always remembers them?

A:Autocomplete in Windows mail

Windows Mail doesn't use the contacts list to auto complete addresses.

It uses a separate list of the last 30 addresses you sent messages to.

Without a registry tweak, you have what you are suppose to.

I suggest that you do not fool with registry for this type of problem. There is the possiblity of much bigger problems.

I was typing something into the run command on Windows XP and a rather large list of auto-complete entries appeared. At first I was surprised because I assumed that they had all been typed into the Run line, and based on the length of the list on a single letter, I knew I didn't enter them all into Run.

The first one I noticed was: "ms-its:c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\Resources\1033\cmptmgr9.chm::/html/d04f1bce-069c-4a02-b561-c87c3282be36.htm"

And actually MS SQL is the third program on the frequently used list on the start menu and it has been moving up the list even though I've never used it. But SQL isn't my concern right now, I'm more curious as to why anything would show up in Run's auto-complete that I didn't type in the first place.

I found where these entries belong at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserAssist\ but the SQL auto-complete info was not included, and I'm not sure what else is missing.. but I'll post decoded rot13 results from from the registry here, but I will omit some entries marked with a "*".

A:Autocomplete in Run displaying select websites? Never typed them into the Run program

When I turned my computer on today I got a message informing me that the startup options have been changed, when I checked msconfig I noticed 2 new things that were checked, but I unchecked them and don't remember all the details. I do remember that they were a Webroot process, startup process checked now is WRSA, with the command: "-ul". The other two that were just there had a bunch of commands, such as "-disablelogging", and about 4 other "-disable*" commands. I wish I could remember what they were, but I can't see them now.

The reason I bring this up is because I had a friend who turned AVG into high power spyware on a bunch of computers, so I would imagine the same could be possible for Webroot.

I am using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 6.0. on a new computer. Concurrent with initial use of this computer, the autocomplete feature in the address line of my email programs (Hotmail, Yahoo) stopped functioning. This also occurrs when using the Opera 7.0 browser. Autocomplete works in the Address Line, and the browser offers to (and does) remember login name(s) and password(s). Can you tell me how to recover the feature of autocomplete in the email address lines?

Open Outlook Express and go to Tools > Options and click the Send tab, see if you see anything like automatically complete email addresses.

I have just upgraded from Win XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro
I reinstalled my MS Office 2007 and backed up and restored my data, however my autocomplete of email addresses is no longer is there any way to retrieve those and restore to my new computer

A:Coping the autocomplete email address

I believe you are referring to the .NK2 file.

In XP, it is stored here:

drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\<profile name>.NK2

and in Win7:

drive:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\<profile name>.NK2

I believe it should just be a straight copy and paste job. Although you may have to start outlook using the following Run command:

outlook.exe /importnk2

I have only copied over NK2 files from '07 to '10 and you are required to start outlook like that for it add your NK2.

NOTE: If your profile name has changed (by default I believe it is 'Outlook' but I may be wrong) change the name of the NK2 to that of your profile.

To check your profile name, go to control panel, mail and then show profile and it should come up there.

I'm using now Windows Mail for my personal mail.

When I Create a New Message and then click on the To: button to select the recipients for the new message then a list of the addresses of all my previous messages (sent and received) comes up for selection; those addresses are located on the folder <E:\Users\Victor\Contacts\other>.
That -although useful- is not what I really want; I'd like to see ONLY the list of addresses from my Contacts.

I've been browsing throughout the commands, configurations and options to set Contacts as my default list of recipients but I haven't been able to find anything to do that.

Any ideas?

I've had Windows Mail working well on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit for over a year with no problems until very recently.

A problem started 3 days ago.

I have my Contacts List set to show alphabetically starting at A, and until 3 days ago, the Select Recipients box showed in the same order. It's now showing in the reverse order - starting with Z.

I can't find any way to alter this and can't find any references to the problem.

Any ideas for a fix please ?

A:Windows Mail Select Recipients box show order

I thought Windows Mail was only available in Vista? is it possible you are using Windows Live Mail.
Have to take a guess about Windows Mail , immediately above the contacts is there a box saying name like you get in Windows Explorer click it & it probably reverses the order.
Windows Live Mail look on the Ribbon in the View section for Sort by there are only two option's First name or Last name.

I am running windows vista basic and internet explorer 8. I have tried multiple times to clear my browsing history using both the "safety" and "tools" drop down menu in internet explorer. I have tried to delete each item in the address bar separately, but every time I load internet explorer, the history is still there. I have tried to reset the internet explorer settings under the advanced tab, and I have also tried to reset the history under "control panels." I have tried to delete the autocomplete history under the content tab and the sites remain. I tried running CCleaner and am still having the same problem. 1) I'm using AOL. The browser of AOL runs really fast, but I prefer to use the Microsoft browser. Microsoft browser starts to run slower than usual. For example, after I enter my user name (hotmail email) I have to wait a while in order to enter the password. After click enter (when done with the password), have a wait again. The loging is quick, but the entering (user name, password) is slow. This happens to every site, not just hotmail.

2) I've already turned on autocomplete, but it doesn't work. If it's turn on, then it supposes to give me a match whenever I type in something that matches with my previous? for example, I've searched many things in google, but it doesn't save the search. When it asks if i want to save the password for easier log in, I click yes, but the next time I log in still have to type it again.

i got these problems about 3 weeks and they happened at once.

I'm not sure if this makes sense, but please email me if there's any questions.

Thanks very much. I appreciate it.

You have helped me on so many other issues! This one should be easy.

On many websites, there appears a pop up for WindowsLiveMail, when a person wants to communicate with the owners of the site. On my last computer this worked fine. On my present one, HP, using Windows 10, I can fill out the form but when I try to send it, I get an error message. I had this problem when I had last version of Windows, too. Someone mentioned to me in passing that this was because I "didn't have.............. on my computer." But I never found out what .............

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a basic form with an input element for email
2. Add autocomplete attribute with value "email" and name attribute with some random value (not email).
3. When filling this form, autocomplete doesn't work(no previously used values of emails are listed).

Actual results:

No previously filled values of email are listed even though we have provided autocomplete attribute as email.

Expected results:

Previously used values of emails should have been listed as we have provided the autocomplete attribute as email.

Hi and welcome. It just picks up what you put in the address book. If you put JOE SCHMOE and then put [email protected] that is what would appear. I think you have to put something. Many people prefer that you don't use their entire name.

As to Vista, you're never too old to learn.

how do I send an email to several people in my address book? I know how to make a group but suppose I just want to click on a few names and send an email? I can't seem to make it do that

A:Windows Mail Address book

Hi Mocha37a,

Welcome to the forums.

There are a couple ways of doing this as long as the names are in your contacts. Click on the 'To:' button and a list will come up. Double clicking any name will add it to the To list. Also you can type in the names separated by a comma or semi-colon and Mail will look them up in the contacts list. If you type in just a first or last name and there are more than one possibility in your contacts, WM will offer a list of possible emails for you to choose from. This last bit won't happen until you hit the send button. You can also add more than one auto complete address (the last 29 names you've sent email to) by comma/semi colon separating the names.

Hi. I am the IT Admin at a small school. We have several desktop windows 10 PC's that run with roaming accounts. A continuing problem has been that during the first class, students boot up their computers and log in to a roaming account stored on a Windows Server 2012 machine. Usually 1 to 3 random computers will not be connected when they do this so their account opens blank.Windows server is acting as the DHCP Server, but sometimes these computers don't get the IP address and are set to the defaults. The only way I have found to fix this after a student has logged on is to run the commands ipconfig /release and /renew. After I have done this, they have to sign off and sign back in to access their documents. This issue is hard to track down. I just got a new smart gigabit switch and set all the computer ports to "fastlink" The server is connected to the same switch. This issue happens from time to time on all computers, but I notice that staff computers that are left on all the time never have this problem. Could it be that all the computers getting addresses at once overloads the DHCP server? Is their a setting I should change to get them to keep the same address. Could someone please help me in figuring out what I need to do to have Windows Mail auto complete the address of the recipient. Sometimes it works and most of the time it does not. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Windows Mail (auto complete address)

Hello Therapist,

Welcome to the forums.

WM will auto complete the last 29 addresses you have sent emails to. If you have the addresses in your contacts folder, it should auto complete from there. It may however wait until you hit the send button to do so if you haven't installed SP1. You can use just a first or last name and if there is only one possibility it will send(go to outbox). If more than one possibility it will give a list to choose from. It will not look these up until you click (or tab to) somewhere besides the line you are entering the addresses in.

Hope this helps.

I researched Windows Live Mail and you indeed can import both email addresses and even email from another email client (Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Windows Outlook, etc....)

This is done at least for me by going into Windows Live (I already had on the computer for hotmail) but I believe can be set up when first installing.

Thanks for those who took time to look at my question.

When I go to WLM, 2 accounts are shown, both with the same e-mail address. One is the default. I always use the default account. I would like to remove the 2nd one because I see no need for it. The problem is, if I compose an e-mail & put it in draft before sending, when I do send the message it is sent from the 2nd account. and not the default account where I typed the original message. This does not make sense to me and I don't know why I have 2 accounts with the same address. If I remove the 2nd account will my drafts be sent from the default account?

Hope I make myself clear.

A:Windows Live Mail - 2 accounts same address

Very clear. But difficult to understand why it is happening!
You don't have any message rules which could be redirecting?
Frankly, I would move the extra account to a safe place, and see what happens.

Hello does anyone know how to make the address send to: [email protected] rather than saying send to example,

I like to see the actual adress rather than the persons name so does anyone know how i can change this pernamently?

Regards Paul

A:Windows live mail send to address

Vista's Windows Mail put in both the name and the address. It was reassuring that you were using the correct address. It would sure be great if the new stuff (IE, Mail, Windows 7) made all the interface changes and so-called enhancements optional.

When creating a "new message" you place the curser in the "to" box and as soon as you start typing a letter of an email address you have used - it "automatically gives you options of all email addresses that start with that letter (that you have used) and you click on the one you want.

I want to disable that feature and delete those addresses that I can click on. How do I do that?

A:windows mail auto address complete

Hi Dalton,

Welcome to the forums.

In WM, click Tools/options. Click on the send tab and uncheck 'automatically complete...' That should do it.

Hope that's what your looking for.

Hello all,, Wondering if anyone might have an answer for this one. My girlfriend just set up live mail, since out msn has decided to kill outlook express. The problem is she is blind, and has an extensive address book. Outlook used prediction when she started to type an emil address, and live mail doesn't seem to do that, so now for every email she must scroll through her directory to find the one she wantsthis takes a lot of time. We have searched through the options we can find and this doesn't seem to be an option. Does live mail have this feature, if so, how to you turn it on? Any help would be appreciated. Gerald
