Audio port on Ultra Dock docking station not working with T470 docked, but it worked with T450.

Q: Audio port on Ultra Dock docking station not working with T470 docked, but it worked with T450.

I have ThinkPad T470 laptop with Windows 10 pro x64 installed. Sound plays just fine from the laptop's speakers, and when I plug external speakers into the laptop's 3.5mm audio port they work just fine too.But...when the laptop is docked in my Ultra Dock 90W docking station and the external speakers cable is plugged into the dock's audio port, no sound is heard. If I'm playing music through the laptop's speakers, as soon as I plug a cable into the dock's audio port no sound is heard. I can still use the laptop's audio port to connect external speakers, but that defeats the object of having an audio port on the Ultra Dock. I believe the driver of external speaker plugged into dock is well-installed and well-detected by the device managerI already set it as default audio output and can see the volume symbol up-and-down while testing it.I also had my T450 docked and the audio port from this Ultra Dock worked just as expected!! It seems everything works fine but still no sound can be heard when T470 is docked. Is it a bug when using Dock with T470 docked ??What do I need to do to get the Ultra Dock's audio port working?Anyone can help ?? Thanks a lot in advance!Kind regards,Jimmy

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a T440s presently with a T480s due for delivery this week - It seems that the docking platform for the T440s won't work with the T480s - correct?  I have looked for a similar dock for the T480S without success (though this doesn't always mean something isn't available, just impossible to find on the Lenovo website...)  Can anyone pont me to an Ultr Dock for the T480s - and/or confirm that the one for the T440s won't work?  Is the Thunderbolt 3 dock the closest I can get to the same functionality (without the usefulness of an actual docking base) for the T480?  Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Hello,
I have trouble as described in the topic,
I have two most old laptop models, Dell Precision M6300 & Dell Latitude D630.
When laptops is docked to replicator potr dock stations D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) - bigger one model with DVD port,

headphone jack port not working under Windows 10 Pro x64 installed on both laptops.

On M6300 previously was installed Windows 7 Ultimate and on D630 was Windows 8.1.
On Dell  M6300 on Win 7 Ult. headphone jack port worked properly.
On Dell D630 on Win 8.1 I'm not sure due I do not used this on it (more years ago when it was on Win XP headphone jack port worked properly)
So when Ms start delivering updates do Win 10, I did it on doth laptops, everything on both models working fine, but only this headphone jack port in D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) wouldn't like to work when I'm dockind Dell M6300 (D630 I docked only
for test if on this one jack port will work or not) but not working too like on M6300.
So loks like drivers whih was made oryginally for Win Vista x64 ale which was workable for Windows 7 64b wouldn't like to work on Windows 10.
Maybe You have some tips what to do with this to press them to work?

Just got a D/dock for my d630. Everything seems to work except for the 3.5 mm audio jack; when I insert the audio cable for my external speakers into the jack the laptop's speakers turn off but there is no sound from the external speaker. Tried updating BIOS and reinstallin Sigmatel audio driver; any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,I'm currently having problems with the docking station. When I plug the power cord into the docking station, I don't see the LED light turn on to indicate its charging or charged. When I plug it into the tablet portion, I see its LED light turn on. My main problem is that when I dock the tablet onto the docking station, it automatically turns off. I can only use this in tablet mode. Is my docking station broken? This was working fine before. I didn't make any recent updates to it. My laptop was sitting on my table turned on and then I went to use and saw that everything had turned off. Once I undock it from the docking station, I can power it back on.

I have a W540 and ultra dock, have been using it with a U2713HM and sometimes also a U2412 on the dock's displayport outs, no problem. I just bought a 2nd U2713H (2nd hand - I wanted them to match, thoughHM and H models are subtly different), and for the life of me I CANNOT get the new monitor to work with either DP output on the ultra dock...  (just by itself, using either port output and either of 2 cables I have... while the original 2713HM works either display port out with either cable) basically windows shows a 2nd monitor is attached, and at the right resulution... and the monotor shows that it knows it's plugged in, but claims it's not being sent any video. so it's just black... But I did get it to work via DVI cable out of the dock(though at limited resolution) And I did get it to work with the miniDP out on my actual W540 using an old mini DP to DP connector (while also using the dock's displayport out with my other U2713.Can someone let me know what on earth is going on?? While it's releiving to at least be able to see my new monitor running alongside the old one for 2 x 2560x1440, I need that port on my laptop free for other purposes (it's a DP/thunderbolt port and I use it for thunderbolt too!) so I need this fixed or I have wasted money buying a 2nd monitor..

I have a nearly new Dell Inspiron  15 7000-series laptop. I also have a D3100 USB3 docking station. The dock has a monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, and disk drive attached. All was working fine for weeks. Just a few days ago, the speakers stopped working. Sound is now coming out of the laptop speakers even when the laptop is docked. In the Device Manager, when it is docked, there is a USB Audio device that has an exclamation mark on it. (E.g. isn't working.) I've tried updated the audio driver through the Dell support site. No improvement. I then found the latest driver on dell.com for the D3100 dock. I tried installing it, but it was refused, saying that the existing driver was up to date.
The speakers work fine when plugged directly into the laptop audio jack. E.g. there is no problem with the speaker hardware.
Any ideas how I can get the dock audio working again

Hi!
I have a Latitude E7740 that runs Ubuntu Xenial (16.04). I dock it to a "Dell EURO2 Advanced E-port II" docking station.
If I boot it in the docking station, everything works fine, and I find all my two DVI-connected monitors.
However, if I undock, then put it into the dock again while running, it fails to enable the screens. I'm using a script called autorandr for switching between display modes - it uses xrandr. It tries to run:
xrandr --output DP1-1 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 0x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal --output DP1-2 --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0 --mode 1920x1200 --panning 0x0 --pos 1920x0 --rate 59.95 --reflect normal --rotate normal
But the X server responds with:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)  Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)  Minor opcode of failed request: 21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)  Serial number of failed request: 48  Current serial number in output stream: 48
Running this exact command after booting in the dock is doing the right thing, but after undocking then docking, it doesn't work.
Any ideas here? I have updated to the latest BIOS version.
Problem also reported in launchpad with lot's of debug info, here:

Autorandr script is here: github.com/.../

I have been having issues with my Anker USB 3.0 Docking Station on my Dell laptop, specifically that the audio does not work. The laptop's audio works fine when not hooked up to the docking station. I have the laptop hooked up to two external monitors via the docking station, and I operate with the laptop screen disconnected. I have tried audio through the headphones jack and by using a USB headset. Neither have worked. I called Anker, and they said it was a product defect and sent me a new product. The replacement has the same issue, which makes it seem like its a Dell or Windows issue (I run Windows 10).
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fixes or has experienced this same problem or similar problem with another docking station.

I don't know which notebook model you have, but I'm finding random posts online about HP notebooks only being able to drive one analog monitor at a time, so you may be out of luck there. That docking station firmware update is for Displayport hub built into the docking station.  It can only be updated if you're connected to at least one monitor using displayport.  And it has nothing to do with analog port anyway, so it won't help you even if you could update the firmware.

I have a new LG ultra wide monitor that has support for HDMI and DisplayPort that I cannot seem to get working.  I have tried connecting the displayport cable to the dock and montior and I do not get a signal at all.  I have also tried the HDMI connection but I cannot get the resolution to the recommended 2560 x1080. Any direction would be very helpful/.

A:Dell XPS with Docking Station and LG Ultra Wide Monitor...

DisplayLink can support that resolution, but the D1000 is a very old dock that uses a very old DisplayLink chipset, and that particular chipset probably doesn't.  However, even with a newer version of DisplayLink such as would be found in the D6000 dock, DisplayLink would give you an inferior experience at that resolution anyway if you ever did things like gaming or full-screen video.  You really want your display to be directly controlled by the GPU.  So, considering that you have a 9550 that has a Thunderbolt 3 port, you have two options:
- Buy a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, which would tap into the native GPU DisplayPort output wired to that port.
- If you want to have everything connected to a dock, buy either a WD15 or TB16 dock.  Either one would allow the attached display(s) to be driven directly by your GPU rather than through DisplayLink, and unlike your D1000, these docks can additionally charge your system via their USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 cable, so you'd have a true single-cable solution.  The WD15 allows a single display of that resolution (or dual 1080p), and the TB16 allows up to dual 4K displays or three 2560x1600 displays.  Since you have an XPS 15 9550, with the WD15 you'd need the 180W adapter version and with the TB16 you'd need the 240W adapter version.

I'm experiencing an issue with intermittent shutdowns on my new T580 (20L9) with the Ultra Docking Station (40AJ). Did you ever get this resolved?  I have a user with the exact same symptoms, but we haven't done a lot of testing off the dock yet.  We've updated to the latest Intel Thermal Framework drivers from Lenovo (Just came out on 6/8) but that didn't help.  Updated to the latest drivers from Intel, no better.  Tried dock firmware, nothing.  Lenovo came out and replaced the system board - no better.  We push a clean corporate image to ALL machines, include a few hundred Thinkpads we have out there, and this is the only one exhibiting this behavior (Also the only T580 we have out there so far, everything else is T480.)  Lenovo wants their image back on it before we do anything else, which is tough because the user is a few hundred miles away.

I want to use my Dell Inspiron 1501 as a desk top.
I want to connect my desktop monitor, and keyboard to my laptop.
If I do can I still use the USB ports on my laptop to connect my mouse, external disc drives,
printer etc or should I connect all devices to a docking station or port replicator?
Should I use a docking station or port replicator?
Can you recommend a good reasoable docking station or port replicator?

A:Docking Station VS Port Replicator

I just found out DEll Inspirons do not have a docking station port.
Looks like I will have to use a USB connected port replicator.
Any comments on this option greatly appreciated.

Hello, Notebook is super noisy and dock wire is way too short to put it somewhere far away. I though may be it's possible just pluging power into notebook and connect docking station via Thunderbolt only but not sure if it will work and if docking station in fact needs external power which thunderbold cable will not be able to provide.

My current answer based on limited research is Lenovo model number 433810U Are there ones made by Lenovo that are better than this model, or would this docking station serve most common needs well enough? Thanks!

I have HP Pavilion dv4-1199ee laptop(http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...1002_USEN#N277) with Vista Home prem SP1.

I have expansion 3 port on my laptop and I didn't know what is it for but I read the you can hock up a docking station that transform your laptop to desktop where you can connect the devices that you used to connect to your desktop.

I don't know what kind of docking stations that you can connect to my laptop that has thing that are not already in my laptop( expect USB, because the more the better because many devices can be connected through this port)

It will be nice if you give also links from www.ebay.com so I can know about the cost of these devices including the shipping to UAE.

namo,
a docking station just makes it quicker to 'unplug' the laptop,

Using a docking station
A docking station, also known as a port replicator or a dock port, allows you to plug your monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, and other peripherals into the docking station itself, while the notebook only connects to the dock. This set up saves wear and tear on connections each time you need to pick up the notebook and leave the peripherals behind.Click to expand...

I am looking for a PC laptop with docking station and internal docking port so I can operate it with my current peripherals (full size monitor, key board, mouse, scanner, printer, hardwire modem connection, etc) when working at my desk.

What models do you have that are equipped with a docking station port?

A:Laptop with Docking station and internal port

Only the Latitude and Precision models have true docking station support - the consumer-grade models (Alienware, Inspiron, XPS and Vostro) do not.

It looks like all the new Dell Latitude laptops are not compatible with the E-Port Replicator Docking Stations. Is there any solution to be able to still use them as a docking station on the new Latitudes such as using a usb port instead of the pins?

A:Docking station/port replicator Yoga 3 Pro

Hi clashelaeander, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

A general-purpose dock like the ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock will do that. I'm not aware of a replicator/dock made specifically for the Yoga 3 Pro.

Hope this helps!

I have a Toshiba Tecra M11-17V laptop, which I frequently use with the docking station that came with it.
There is a DB9 serial port on the back of the docking station but I do not know what COM Port it is.

I am using Windows 7.

In Device Manager, COM9 - COM22 are identified as BT Port (bluetooth). COM7 - COM8 are RIM Virtual Serial Port v2, COM17 is Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port and COM18 is USB-Serial CH340.

I figured that COM17 or COM18 were the most likely candidates, but have not been able to get it to respond using either of them.

I am connecting a Psion 5 (Comms app) to it, and have set the ports and the Psion to 19200 baud, 8bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

Hi

> There is a DB9 serial port on the back of the docking station but I do not know what COM Port it is

I think you misunderstood something wrong?
The COM ports available in device manager are ?virtual com ports?
There is no connection between an virtual com port and serial port.

I?ve got one question: what docking station do you have exactly?

I had an express port replicator and this device required an installation of additional serial port driver.

My M4600 Can not use USB & RS232 Port on Pro2X Docking Station.  This is new to me and in 100% mint condition as it had never been used and only turned on about 3 times.

I can use both DVI monitors attached to station, but can not see any of the USB or RS232 ports on my docking station.  My old M6600 can see them all just fine.

If the M4600 can not utilize the docking station ports, it is bye bye to the M4600.

Hi All, I have a brand new Elitebook 850g3 (T9X36EA), a HP Slimline dock (D9Y32ET)  and two Dell P2415Qb 24" monitors. My aim is to extend my desktop to the two external Dell monitors  whiclst still viewing the display on the EliteBook. The monitors are DP monitors with MST technology so am able to set one as a primary and one as a secondary. I can achieve my goal simply when the laptop is off the dock (See image)But on the dock I get nowhere with it. I noticed the dock had a firmware update on the drivers page which specifically talks about the DP functionality, but on running the update it tells me I am already running at the latest FW version on the dock. At best, I can extend my desktop to one Dell monitor which duplicates to the other. I know my cabling is setup correctly and that the equipment is ok as it works off the dock, I have been banging my head for a while now, so any help would be really appreciated. ThanksPaul

A:Chaining Display port monitors through a HP Docking station
