Simple slide-show software to create random slide show

Q: Simple slide-show software to create random slide show

I'm having a family reunion on Saturday at which there will be a screen for a slideshow of photos. We have a folder of around 1500 pictures which we want shown on the night. I tried windows movie maker, spent hours arranging the photos so that they were in no particular order and in the end it couldn't deal with the large file size. I have also tried smilebox but it won't let me import the photos en masse and I can't be bothered individually clicking 'add' on them all.

Basically I want a simple software that will allow me to add all 1500 photos at once and will jumble them up for me so that they're not in alphabetical order (the way shuffle would work on an ipod, no picture would be shown twice). Any suggestions welcome asap. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to purchase a really great slide show program. The most important features would be:

1) Easy to use, and capable of making "instant" shows if necessary (that is, you dump folders of images, and it automatically provides transitions, etc.)

2) Has really interesting effects, transitions, etc.

3) Makes it easy to sort and view images so that they can easily be located and placed where you wish.

4) Can easily create "title" slides that you can slip in appropriate places

5) Under $100

I appreciate any suggestions!

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for some DVD Photo Slideshow type software, I have tried a number of trials but still haven't found what i'm looking for. I have tried Nero 7, Roxio, DVD Slideshow Builder.

Whilst these are all very good, they aren't suitable for what I want. I have a number of holiday photos from various places, with the ones I've tried I can only seem to create one initial menu,and then the slideshows are then accessible from this menu ie like the chapters on DVD's. What I would like to be able to do is have a main menu and then several other menus that are accessible from there. Which will then enable me to have a menu for each holiday destination and then the slideshows on that menu. Pretty similar to a dvd.

If any of you could tell me software that would enable me to do this I would be very grateful. Or maybe one of the ones I've tried can do this.... It may be that i'm not experienced enough to use them

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

When WMP goes into the full-screen mode it has annoying toolbars/controls still viewable. I've got an old program back from the win98 days called easy photo and you have to import your jpg's from their folder into it's own gallery and it's slow & funky. Roxio uses way too many resources just to view a simple slideshow. I've been reading about Google's Picasa, but I'm somewhat hesitant to install anything Google anymore since most anything Google wants to dial home constantly which is one of the reasons I usually keep WMP blocked with my firewall. I just want something light to view my slideshows on my auxillary flat-panel with nothing but the pics on the monitor, while listening to music and while when I'm surfing the 'net on my main monitor. Above all, I don't want the program constantly trying to dial-out home and playing havoc with my firewall.

Hi, i use the random slide show when playing music to view all our family photo's....all was good until about a month ago, when slowly strange images appeared along with our pic's.

At first i thought they were graphics pic's from the tom tom software, or maybe the iphone, so i uninstalled both, but still the odd images appear....randomly.

When they appear i have right clicked to get pic details and they are not coming from my pics folder!

Has anyone any idea how i can make it look only in MY PICTURES? or what to do to resolve

Thanks in advance

I have a set of 10 Powerpoint presentations that I combined into one presentation with Histology image identification questions. I wanted to play the slide show in a random order so that I don't know what image comes next and I can really test myself.

Here's how to do it

From within the Powerpoint you want to randomize Alt+F11 to open Visual Basic. Make sure your Powerpoint is highlighted on left-hand side. Click Insert => Module

copy and paste the following

Code:
Sub sort_rand()

Dim i As Integer
Dim myvalue As Integer
Dim islides As Integer
islides = ActivePresentation.Slides.Count
For i = 1 To ActivePresentation.Slides.Count
myvalue = Int((i * Rnd) + 1)
ActiveWindow.ViewType = ppViewSlideSorter
ActivePresentation.Slides(myvalue).Select
ActiveWindow.Selection.Cut
ActivePresentation.Slides(islides - 1).Select
ActiveWindow.View.Paste
Next

End Sub
Click Run, then Run again or hit F5.

Voila.

Why then do I have so many picture files rejected when trying to send, message saying file too large?

Am I better loading them onto one of these apparently free picture sites for people to access or am I just missing some easy way of resizing files/

I have been tasked with creating a slideshow combined with video that can be played on a DVD. I have all the necessary hardware. So far i have adobe photoshop 7.0 and premiere pro 2.0. The software is legit and was given to me by my relatively well off relatives .

I have a TON of photos to scan and i would like whatever software there is to automatically crop the photo's. I know i can manually crop the photo's with photoshop but that would take too much time as i have been only given 2 weeks to complete this project. IS there software that will do this and what do you all recommend. I will also be laying music tracks to run with the slideshow so if there is something that will do both without requiring me to get a huge book to learn how to use it(like photoshop does) that would be ideal.

If what i'm asking just isn't possible don't hesitate to say so. Any suggestions on software would be great. The scanner i am using is a canon multipass 390. Money is not an issue here. I have been told to purchase whatever i need software wise and i will be reimbursed for it.

When you go into Display Properties and hit the Screensaver tab click on settings. There should be a tick box that when clicked will give the option to 'Show File Names'. Hey presto, the picture source path will be shown in top left corner of your picture. If you set the change time to 6 seconds it shouldn't be too hard to quickly note the origin and file name...

Alternatively, why not put all your pics into one folder and then simply set a set slide show in motion... you can freeze that at will.

I want to make a set of slide shows from a bunch of old 35mm slides and photos. I have them all scanned into my PC as JPG files. What is the best way to turn these files into a DVD (or CD) of slides shows? There are between 500 and 600 of the files.

I want the DVD (or CD) to be one that can be used by a normal, (current technology) PC. PowerPoint is on all the PC's that will use the disks. Is there any other format that would make sense? Any self loading software on the disk that makes sense? I have heard about, (and have) Pisaca2 as one alternate. 2. Will I Get a High Definition Video Output after the processing of the Video?
3. Can you suggest a good Soundtrack for the Video? ( Between 3 Minutes and 4 Minutes, Melodious, A Track that can Represent an old memory Together etc.)

A:For a Picture Slide Show....

Well, I personally have been asked to do this before by a teacher friend of mine. I used PowerPoint 2010 for that and used the metro design with the pictures. I just made a mosaic on each slide, used a fade in animation on each photo and staggered the timing, then had a blank black slide fade in and did it again. I used certain transition animations based on the tempo of the song at that particular timing. It was intense! The song I used was by Grouplove, Tongue Tied. I find it's a fantastic song to go with an emotional, memory packed presentation. It's about 3 and half minutes long. Another song that can be used is Spun by Grouplove too, but I'd go with Tongue Tide as you can cry and sing along with it and it's really happy!

I'd recommend PowerPoint for this, especially 2013, as you can save the presentation in not only in a .wmv video file but publish it onto a CD. Pretty handy! You won't get quality loss either.
