Q: Task Requests in Outlook

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anybody could help me out with this issue I am having. In Outlook is there a way to CC: people on a task request assigned to someone else without assigning the task to the people on the CC: list? Been trying to locate a way to do this without any success. Thanks again guys

Preferred Solution: Task Requests in Outlook

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need some help here....
I have a user who, when she opens Outlook 2000, she is set up to view her mailbox, as well as our President's. Everything is fine, except that when ANYONE sends an Appointment Request to the President, it goes directly to the assistants Inbox and the President never sees it at all. If the assistant accepts the requsts, it will THEN show up on the Presidents calendar, but never in his Inbox. I believe I've checked all the Rules on both sides, and haven't found anything there....Any ideas? Please?
And yes, we are running Exchange (5.5).

A:Outlook Appointment Requests

Check the delegates and permissions for both and the profile for the President. The admin has permission to view and accept the President's meeting requests. The President has his profile set so he doesn't even see the request just the meeting acceptance in his calendar. Hope this helps.

We want to allow users to schedule a leave request using out Outlook leave request calendar.
Is there a way for other users to see the requester’s name but not the details of the request?
Actually we want the requester’s manager to see the details but not the co-workers.

A:Outlook 2013 Calendar Requests

Probably Not a viable plan. Outlook as I understand, doesn't provide the security granularity you need to pull off the 'see names but not detail' requirement. And the approval/denial process would be another dilemma. This can be done in SharePoint using workflows. A quick Google shows 3rd party apps for outlook that might do this.

Good old paper with a managers signature is hard to beat. A leave calendar in outlook maintained by an administrative assistant is a helpful tool.

At our site we have several conference rooms which have their own shared calendars in Outlook. Whenever someone wants to schedule the conference room, they usually submit a meeting request and add the conference room to check availability in Scheduling. The problem is, they want to be able to see past one month. For example, if I look at the room's availability today, I can only see up to February 28 of this year. March 1 and beyond appears as "\\\" or 'no information.' Is this a limitation of Outlook 2003 and is there any way around it (do schedulers need delegate rights to see past a month)?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried to search this but can only find responses for 2007.
There are many published supposed 'fixes' for this on the net but I am asking this here as you are the experts by far and I do not want to start taking advice from untrusted sources.
I know this is common but is there a recognised fix that you recommend.

I have XP and Outlook 2010 which keeps asking me to re-enter password details for my 4 email accounts. It is now happening several times a day and effects the automatic download of my mail.
I have deleted the accounts and reset them but no good.
Thank you in anticipation.

One of my users are having issues with the meeting requests in outlook. If A sends a meeting request to B, and B accepts the request, the confirmation email gets sent to both A and C. C was never on the request at all. I also sent a test request to my email account so when I accepted it, the confirmation still was somehow forwarded to C.

Has anyone ever ran into this issue before or know the solution?

Hi, All at onceI have run into the following problem.

OS Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate Edition
Outlook 2007

Everything has been working without a hitch and since I got home when I click on a embedded link in a messageI get the message "Operation aborted due to system restrictons, contact the system administrator"

For example:
I get messages from TechGuySupport, click on the link under the line This thread is located at:

and halted! The dialog.
All that remains is copy the link and open IE and paste it but this is all new since 18:00

I checked all account settings even and I still have all the rights.

All the rest works, macro's in Excel and other 'security sensitive' tasks.

I only seems that the link clicking is 'blocked'

I checked and sender is added to the trusted mailer list.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Hi there,

I use MS Office Live Small Business for my website and email. I use Outlook to manage my email on my computer, connecting to Office Live with Outlook Connector. Till now, I have not used the online Office Live calendar, I've simply used the default Outlook calendar on my computer. Today, though, I received a meeting request from a client. I "accepted" the meeting and checked in my calendar to make sure it had recorded it, but could not see it. I eventually found it in my online Office Live calendar.

So now I have two active calendars, which I don't want. Can I tell Office Live to record appointments to my Outlook default calendar? Or would I be better off switching to the online Office Live calendar? If I do the latter, is there a quick and easy (!) way to transfer all my appointments from my default Outlook calendar to the online version?

(One reason for wanting to use only one calendar is that my HTC smartphone will only sync to one calendar, so it doesn't pick up any appointments on any other calendar.)

Sorry about the long-winded question. Help and advice will be gratefully received.

A:Appointment requests from Office Live into default Outlook calendar?

When i accept email meeting invitations in my computer outlook, they get put into a secondary calendar - not the live calendar. So when i'm on my windows 7 phone or my ipad those appointments don't show up (since it only shows the live calendar) - help! What to do?

Hi All, For the life of me I cannot figure out what the reason is for this, but when a sender sends a meeting request via Outlook 2010 calender, the recipent recieves a blank email with just the subject line at the top. Both users are using Outlook 2010 and are on Windows XP with SP3. The mail server is a pop server rather than Exchange.

A few things I looked into but did not fix the problem was to check this option under the recipients Email: Under the Section Calendar Options, deselect the option that says (second from bottom) ;When sending meeting requests outside of your organization, use the iCalendar format. This unfortunately did not correct the issue and both user's are within the same domain.I checked the client PC who is recieving the blank email and the format is set to HTML.

The user can see my calender requests just fine but the one sender's requests keep showing as the above photo shows. I had the same one sender send me an invite and I can see his attachment fine. I sent the troublesome user my own request and she can see it just fine. It seems to be isolated just between these two users.I've googled as much as I could to no avail.

Has anyone seen this issue before or could offer me another opinion or insight as to what may be causing this problem between the two users?

A:Outlook 2010 Calender Requests Show up as Blank Email

The calender invite appears fine in the one user's sent box. His composition for Email is also set to HTML rather than plain text.

Hi everyone,

At work we have outlook 2003 and I cannot upgrade that computer, at home I have recently upgraded to outlook 2007 but it left me with a little problem.

I use tasks to delegate jobs out to my team and I have it set up so categories are in fact their names. I used to send task requests with the name of the employee in the category section and when it arrived in the work inbox someone would accept the task and it would immediately go into that particular employees task category.

Now I have 2007 Outlook and although I have set categories up as they used to be (employee names) the task request gets accepted (at work) and instead of going under the employee name it goes into it's own category with no specific category.

Can anyone tell me (short of going back to outlook 2003) how to solve this issue?

See if any of the fixes on this page solve the problem.

If not, Outlook's failure to shut down can be caused by closing it when it's checking for mail. If you have it set to check for mail every few minutes, try changing it to a longer interval to lessen the chances you close it when it's busy.

I have read a lot of other forums about scheduled tasks running twice, unfortunately the hot fix does not fix the issue.

I checked in C:\windows\system32\tasks, the solution is not here.
I also checked in the registry, was not able to find the duplicate task, I was able to find the task in /windows NT
This happens in a very specific scenario.  We have to update the time triggers for a specific scheduled task based off when a store closes.  They close later on the weekends so the 1st task "autoupdate" will look at an xml file to determine
if the store close time has changed.  Since the store close time changes, it then recreates the "store close" scheduled task with the new time triggers found in the xml.  Autoupdate does this by looking at a .config file we wrote.

Unfortunately this config file had an issue with the path to the store close task not being case sensitive.  When the Autoupdate task kicks off, if replaces the store close task with the correct time triggers, but now the store close task runs twice
at each time trigger
We have a task folder \Hello World
The config file paths out to the task as \Hello world (notice the lowercase w).
This causes the time triggers to kick off 2 task, 1 for (\Hello World\Store close) and another for (\Hello
world\Store close)

I got this to trigger 3 times by changing the .config file to path out to \hello
world.  Now every time the time trigger... Read more

I use Outlook 2007 for my business contacts and managment. I am in need of one simple function in the tasks that I have yet to fine, therefore I would LOVE advice on how to do this or what 3rd party add in can do this.

I need to set up a "task series" so to speak that has predefined tasks that I set up and save to a task folder. Example: For a "New Buyer" task folder, I need to predefine things like Inspection, closing, follow up call, check in, send new cma, take lockbox to home, install sign, yadda yadda yadda. But instead of manually putting in a date for each item i would like to be able to use a "start this task X number of days after the series starts".

Once I have this I can then go to my contacts, bring up "Becky WIllford", my buyer and "start" the task series to run on her name. Then I know that those predefined tasks and dates will automatically start. Make sense?

I would like to NOT use BCM with this since the sync option is almost impossible with a blackberry and really does not "flow" well with regular outlook since they have separeate data files.

I would love a reference for a good add in that could do this for me.

I keep having problems with the dates in recurring tasks in Outlook. I've uploaded a screen shot to this Dropbox folder:
The problem is that somehow the various task dates (Due, Reminder, Start, ???) get all screwed up.
The task in the attached image came due today. That is, a reminder popped up. I opened the task and marked it 100% complete and saved it. I then reopened it to check the dates. The attached image is what I saw.
I've added callouts to highlight the conflicts.
A: This says the task is due in 3 days.
B: This says that the task is due on 9/27/14, which is 3 days from today (9/24).
A & B agree.
C: This says the reminder is not until 2/01/15 -- over 4 months in the future.
I guess I won't know for at least 3 days whether I'll get a reminder on 9/27. I suspect I won't because the reminder date is in 2015. This has happened many times with other tasks. Some time after it was supposed to have generated a reminder, I realize that I never got one, so I open the task to discover that the reminder is way off in the future.

Hi Everyone!

From there onwards I would most likely require the help of task scheduler but have no idea on how to make it work (especially when the settings is "Run whether user is logged on or not". ). From what I understand, I might need a vbs script
or some sort to call up the excel (have no idea on what to write as well).
After the outlook and excel is opened ( and sending out the emails) I would need it them to be closed and saved then shut down.
Hope someone could help me with the problem and/or misunderstandings I have! The outlook have to first be opened before emails can be sent!

Good day,
Maybe somebody can help me to solve following problem.
In Excel the routine separates the tasks depending of the Windows username (sheet-parameters). So it transfer only necessary tasks for current user. After that, task is marked.
But, sometimes it is necessary to send task for all users (and me). I think it could be realized with sending e-mails with task. E-mail will be send only, when is choose "All". But I don't know how realize it.
Maybe someone know useful links with similar code or something else? Because VBA is new for me.

A:Outlook 2007 Task Request issue

Unless both of you are connected to an Exchange Server (2003 or 2007), and they talk to each other, you can't send tasks that way. They go via email. The recipient must drag the file to the task pane and it will automatically place, but you won't get a response. Tasks are managed by the Free/Busy part of Exchange, not Outlook, which is only a client.

I am trying to setup a monthly recurring task (in 2007 Outlook) for some of my staff. In short, I am looking to have a task reminder delivered on the 1st of the month for a task that is due on the 14th.

I've never tried that. If I have a recurring item I want a reminder for, I make a calendar appointment for it and set the reminder there. Because (to me) a task IS a reminder. Would setting up two recurring tasks work for you? I would also like to set up the task so that when something is added or completed various people will be notified by e-mail. The list of people to be notified may change for each task. The people assigned to the task may change for each task. Currently their are 3 people in my department but I may want someone from another department to be able to view a task and have different rights to the task. Is there any way to do this. We currently set up a department task list but it will not e-mail all of us when something is changed.

A:Solved: Task list Microsoft Outlook

I think I figured it out.

I am running Outlook 2007 on Windows XP, new Dell Laptop Latitude E6400. I noticed my hard drive is always pinging and when I went to task manager to see what processes may be running I was suprised to see Outlook shows 177,620K in the task manager under processes for memory usage.

I have 4GB of memory so it is not seriously impeding my work, but I noticed another user had the same issue in 2007 with a Beta version of Office 2007 using 150k of memory, mine is not beta. This feels like it is a huge amount of usage and should be smaller. I have all of my emails archived except a few, so my mailbox size is actually small.

Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know if there is something I am doing cause this issue or can do to resolve this issue?

I just upgraded Outlook 2000 to 2002 and when I create a task and I insert an item as shortcut (an email) I can't open that shortcut. The shortcut icon appears on the Task windows but I can't open it. In 2000 I was able to do this.

Is there any new option in 2002 to enable this?

A:Can't open inserted item on Outlook Task

Microsoft removed this feature starting with OL2002 due to security concerns. Instead of a shortcut, you would need to either copy of move the item to the task.
