Volume clone no booting

Q: Volume clone no booting

I used Partition Magic 7 to clone a Windows 2K disk (old drive is showing signs of failure). New disk partially boots and hangs in a loop loading personal settings UNLESS the old drive is still connected as D:. Any suggestions for how to convince it that the new drive is all it needs?

Preferred Solution: Volume clone no booting

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Volume clone no booting

ok microsoft has setup a wierd thing in 200 and xp where your windows installation looks how the file system is on the hard disk platter and if it dont match or isnt connected to original drive it wont boot all the way, the fix i know works for xp, i dont know if it works for 2000 but it should.

what you need is norton ghost 2002 or newer. in the program files \ symantic ghost directory there is a boot disk exe wizard use it and boot ghost in dos and it should work

Hi

Can anyone advise on the absolute safest, most foolproof way of cloning/copying an existing Windows 7 volume onto either the same drive, or a separate drive, with a view to creating a robust dual boot envorinment?

I've tried this before and had boot issues afterwards, so I'd be grateful for any advice on:

1. Is it better to clone onto a seperate drive, or a new partition on the same drive or does it not matter?

2. What is the best software to do this with - Paragon, Ghost, Acronis are the ones I'm aware of, which clone volumes and in some cases offer boot manager functionality?

3. Can anyone tell me step by step how they would do this, what advanced settings are important, and critically, how I can avoid creating an environment where I have too identical volumes and MBR's which causes all manner of boot problems?

4. Do the experts consider it safer to use Windows 7's own multi-boot abilities to manage booting, or is a 3rd partry boot manager preferred?

Many many thanks in advance. I've no doubt this information would be helpful for others also, as it's hard to find a definitive guide on this, at least from what I can make out.

A:Safest Way to Clone Windows 7 Volume for Dual Booting

Hello again.

To start, it is always preferable whenever possible to use the BIOS to "manage" a dual boot, have a look at the info below for some ideas how to go about that.

The way I would suggest is to purchase a good program like Paragon 11 Home and just start learning how to use it, that's how I started with it.

Partition Manager 11 Personal

   Information

The easiest way to do away with boot issues between separate Operating Systems (OS) is to use the BIOS one time boot menu to select which OS to boot at system startup, each motherboard has an individual hot-key to tap during system start-up to access this menu.

If you have 2 separate Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and have one OS installed to one HDD and you want to install another OS to the second HDD, disconnect the HDD with the first OS installed on it and leave only the HDD you want to install the second OS to connected.

Just be sure not to change where the original HDD SATA cable was connected, it has to be re-connected to the exact same port to avoid boot issues.

Install the second OS to the connected HDD and when complete and the system is booting good, power down and reconnect the first HDD with the first OS on it.

This way the OSs will boot independently of each other and there will be no boot conflicts between the 2 separate OSs to have to sort later.

Then set the BIOS to boot the HDD / OS you want as default and if you want to start the other (new) OS you use the B... Read more

Hi,

I have a spanned volume setup with 4 drives. One of the drives is starting to throw read errors which is preventing WHS from backing it up (Yikes!).

Is it possible to clone the drive with the errors and to reinsert a new drive into the array?

Can the new drive be bigger?

Thanks!

A:Can I clone a drive from a spanned volume?

You may end up cloning the errors as well. An imaging program capable of handling all four drives at once like the Acronis True Image server edition would be able to handle Dynamic volumes if that's what you are working with there.

The best time for any imaging however is while everything is working 100% to make your backup of the entire setup just in case something like this comes up. The imaging program used would back up each block to be restored on the new identical replacement drive in order to work.

I cloned the internal drive c, win 10, 128 gb ssd to an external 1tb hdd. got a collusion error . onlined the disk which changed the guid signature. The disk won't boot when i change the boot sequence in uefi . Both drives are gpt.
If I take the C drive offline before win 10 starts and restore the signature to the clone will this solve the boot problem. I won't use the  disks at the same time to avoid the collusion error.
I think this will only work if I can take drive 0 offline with diskpart. I don't want to take the internal drive out not that handy.
Is there anything else I need to do ? I'm only a novice who has done some reading online but not an expert. So dumb it down for me. lol

Hi,
I am new a member and was looking for help with the next steps of how to resolve the following error message 0x8000ffff "Failed to Create Volume Snapshot". I got this whilst trying to clone one disk to another (which have the correct amount of space to make a clone) so far on all other machines i have not got a clone error until now.

Followed the advice on Macrium's Knowledge base:
VSS Error:0x8000ffff - Backup aborted! - Failed To Create Volume Snapshot. (VSS)

All Solutions have been tried but the same error occurs. The service is set to automatic but according to the user it has not started.

However, on my own laptop Macruim clone goes through without my Volume shadow copy being set to automatic.

Anyone got any thoughts how i can get this clone to go through?

UPDATE -

I got an some more information from my persistant googling to find another piece of the puzzle.

On the affected machine i did the following:
Opened a command prompt (with elevated privileges) and type ?vssadmin list writers? (without quotes).

This command listed all of the VSS writer i had installed on the machine. This came back with no errors.

I then did a search in Event viewer around the time i did my clone last week. I did a find and searched for 'VSS'. This came back with many errors about the following service:

I also tried Disk Copy to clone or copy drive...it does exactly the same as Ghost. I need more hard drive space with the same operating system , that is why I want to use the 20 gig drive. CMOS recognizes the right drive size as far as I can tell system just will not boot with 20 gig after cloning or copying . Is there anyone who can help....please!!! Tried a 40 gig drive and it also does the same. I need some help wih this,,,,the other thing that seems strange to me is that the pc will only recognize one drive , the master in a two drive configuration. The system never sees the second drive no matter what the jumper settings I use. I have tried setting partitions active and they already were.I have tried cable select and numerous other jumper settings. This isn't my first time around the block, I just have a poor or weak understanding of the older operating system NT 4. CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS PROBLEM SOON?????

We've got our second T570 in and neither of them have worked with WDS.  They're running 256GB NVME drives and I'm sure thats where the problem is coming from.  The guy doing this has done this for a little while so he knows the process, but whenever he boots in to capture the image, he's supposed to select a volume.  When he tries to select a volume he does not see anything, the drop down bar is blank.  She's used shift + F10 to open up CMD and do a diskpart and list disk but it does not see the disk there.  So we thought it was the drivers, so we got the Intel RST drivers from the T570 product page.  Doesn't work.  We tried the SCCM driver package (400+MB) from Lenovo for that specific type and WinPE3.1.  Doesn't work.  We tried a similar package that only included the RST and ethernet drivers.  Still didn't work.  It's WDS running on Server 2012 so it doesn't need the Server 2008 hotfix for NVME support and WinPE 3.1.  Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue before. *EDIT* He has sysprepped it, installed the drivers, and this is our first experience working with NVME / M.2 drives.  Everything else was SATA before this.

Hi there
I always thought that CLONE Disk really did Clone disks - however this doesn't seem to be exactly the case.

I decided to upgrade a SAMSUNG 830 120 GB SSD to a Samsung 840 250 GB SSD in a laptop recently. The cloning process went fine -- I left the partitions EXACTLY as they were on the original drive (so I had around 120 GB of unallocated space on the target drive).

When I re-booted everything worked fine except SKY GO (that's an application where I can run SKY TV - satellite TV subscription channel - on the PC with Internet streams -- great for LIVE Sport etc when on the move).

Refused to work saying Computer Device is not registered.

Re-inserted the old SSD -- guess what SKY GO worked fine -- so SOMETHING has changed --not sure what but surely the copy should have resulted in the OS'es being identical - I hadn't changed any partition sizes etc.

Not sure why changing a disk would invalidate a very useful application -- of course SKY TV couldn't explain anything -- Who or what are ever employed in those dreadful off shored call centers -- just get some woman mouthing away in poor barely understandable English the same line over and over again --very sorry -- very sorry -- don't know -- try technical support. I reply - YOU ARE (F-----g) Technical support -- didn't actually insert the F word though --. Answer comes back again Very sorry - very sorry -. A:Clone Disk -- Does it REALLY Clone disks - I have doubts

Hi again

Finally sorted the wretched problem out properly --- it WAS Silverlight (Grhhhhhhhh)

I restored my old system again to the new SSD
Then UNINSTALLED Silverlight --as before

But there's a folder in Program data ==> Microsoft ==>playready which apparently is ZERO bytes. (Or perhaps just contains hidden inaccessible security info).

Removing this folder as well and then re-installing Silverlight -- the SKY GO application started find after a few messages of "Updating security for display of protected content" and things like that.

So my remark on the CLONE DISK still stands however it does seem that Silverlight remembers things from specific PHYSICAL DISKS when you move an OS from one disk to another.

I wasn't going to give up here -- a Clean Windows install also fixed the problem - but I didn't want to go through all the hassle of installing and upgrading all my applications again so I was determined to get to the cause of the problem.

Anyway the new SSD is great -- and I can also keep two VM's on it which I also run quite a lot - response on these is now magnificent.

Waiting until I can afford the latest 980 GB SSD's -- then apart from for archive and large data files like Music / films etc - it's BYE BYE Spinners.

Cheers

Hope this is the right forum.

Just need a little advise. I've attempted in past to use system restore with absolutely no luck so I've come up with a brilliant idea. "Why don't I backup my system or clone it", however, I've never done so and so have no idea how to go about it or which is best. Is there a decent program out there that will allow me to back up or clone my system on either my external drive (1Tb) or a thumb drive (16 Gb). I have no idea how big of a file will be created so I have no idea if a thumb drive would be big enough. My external is actually a WD in an external case which could be installed in my computer case if need be.I need to do 2 drives. A 250 G and an 80 gig

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this happened with 5.55, but with 5.56, when I hit the volume up or down on my keyboard to turn the sound down for everything, it turns down winamp's volume bar too. Sometimes I can move winamp's volume bar up and down and it won't even be working. What causes this? It's pretty annoying for the music to turn down twice as fast or winamp's volume bar to not even work at all.EDIT: Moved to a more appropriate forum

So I have a Blue Yeti, and I'm an online animator/voice actor. Whenever I record audio on my Blue Yeti (OR any other mic) I record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as I yell or whatever. This is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. However, afterwards, it means I have really quite recordings. Not a problem right? Now that it's recorded right, I can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? WRONG. I'm not an audio expert so I must be missing something. But why in GODS NAME would the audio distort and peak AFTER it's recorded successfully? It's all there, it's all clean audio. If I turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds CRYSTAL CLEAR! All I want to do is do that INSIDE the computer so that when I upload it to youtube people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. But if I increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! It sounds awful! Why?! I tried in Sony Acid and Audacity and they both do the same thing! Why?! I seriously don't understand what I'm missing here! I can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart! If anyone understands audio stuff, please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

A:Soft Recording volume with Blue Yeti, increasing volume distorts audio

I have a home recording studio using Sonar X1 software.

I don't know about Acid, but it should allow clean recordings. Audacity the same way.

I record, generally, in the -10 level with my recording program, at 24 bits/44.1 Khz. At -10, I have plenty of headroom and can then adjust the levels after the recordings and at mixdown. I export the mix as a standard 16 bit/44.1Khz wav file and then "finalize" whatever I want to do to the song, including levels, with "Goldwave" (an audio editior).

I assume you are converting the audio to MP3? If that is the case, that may be where the distortion is occuring? I find that 128Kb MP3's are very poor and at a minimum use 198 Kb MP3's.

This on is quite perplexing to me. This is stemming from a volume problem that I had posted before. I have more detail and have narrowed down the problem but not the cause of such. When ever I click the volume control in winamp, not adjust necessarily, just click, my wave setting in my volume control (pannel that comes up by double clicking the speaker in the tray) drops. Of course this affects my overall volume. It is sparatic and does not drop the same amount two times in a row but will drop everytime I click volume in winamp. I am running winXP pro and have not installed so much as an update since the last time this was happening. The only thing I did change is I set up voice recognition in Office XP but I was having this problem before that. I have uninstalled and cleaned out all winamp files and reinstalled. Any suggestions? Winamp is the only player of any kind that this currently happens with.

Also, whenever I am using winamp to play an mp3 or streaming audio and I open another program, any program, or even just minimize/maximize a window, the audio starts cracking. This also has never happend before except of course when there is a heavy load on the system. As I said I am running XP pro, and FYI a Duron 900 cpu and 448MB RAM. As I am having these problems I am using 5% to 10% of my cpu and have 21000k physical memory availible according to task mgr.

Thanks.

My Windows 7 was installed in Drive C: in Primary partition.

I only have another drive D:, which is also a Primary partition and 200GB in size.

I need to create another drive. So, I use 'Shrink Volume' on Drive D: and free 30GB.

Then 30GB become free space and when I right click on that, I choose to 'Simple Volume' and then format it as NTFS and assign the drive letter E:. All of a sudden after I did that, all the partitions(C: and D now no longer say "Primary Partition". The blue color on top of the partitions also changed to a yellow/brownish color. My guess is that they have been converted to a Simple Volume too.

Well, then I just restart my PC and astonished that my windows 7 can't load. Only a blank screen come ahead to me. No error message given.

I use my Windows 7 DVD and in repair windows section, I use command line and by 'diskpart', i found, my all partition (C: and D: and E present their and there file system is: 'NTFS' and Type is "Simple". No drive there marked as a 'System' or 'boot'.

What should I do now, to recover my Windows 7?

Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Windows XP Home
RealPlayer 10.5

Ok, I used to have RealPlayer and all it's junk till I wised up
and removed it from my system over a year ago.

However, I recently installed the basic RealPlayer (that is...only allowing
the features that I needed for video/audio) in order to watch NASA TV
e.g. DEEP IMPACT and today's DISCOVERY launch.

My question is regarding why, when I mute or adjust the volume on
the RealPlayer, that it also does the same to the computer's Volume
Control (Speaker Icon in System Tray...Wave setting).

I had been viewing on the RealPlayer, muted the sound and then later
was wondering why I was not able to hear any of my videos, music, etc.
The thought occurred to me to check the Speaker Icon and, sure enough,
there was a check at Wave>>Mute.

Is there a setting I can check/uncheck that will allow RealPlayer and
Computer volume to be independent of one another?

Thank you,

Here is a question I can't seem to find the answer to in the archives.

How can adjust the volume output from my Windows ME machine (with SoundMax Digital Audio) so that the volume of the background music I like to listen to (via RealOne Player version 6.0.10.505) is quiet, but the other important sounds my PC makes (like email or calendar notifications) are loud enough so I can hear them?

I've seemingly tried all combinations of settings for the volume sliders/adjustments, including:

1) The volume knob on my speakers
2) The RealOne Player volume slider
3) The Windows volume control panel "Volume Control" slider
4) The WIndows volume control panel "PC Beep" slider

Even when the "PC Beep" volume slide is set to maximum, and the "Volume Control" slider is set near minimum in the Windows volume control panel, the PC beep is virtually inaudible when the background music is acceptably quiet (by adjusting the RealOne volume slider and/or the volume control on my speakers).

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some other way that I'm not thinking of to boost the volume of the system sounds my PC makes, while keeping the RealOne music volume low?

Thanks,

--Dean

So I installed some new Windows updates today (whatever was available via Windows Update). I restarted my computer to enable the updates. When it came back on, my task bar was white for some reason. I solved that problem using the first solution I found here: [SOLVED] Taskbar is white

Well I didn't change my volume before doing that, so I don't know if it worked before I followed that solution. I do know that after following that solution, my volume meter no longer shows up when I change the volume via the keys for it on my keyboard. This is pretty annoying because it was convenient to always see my audio level when I adjusted the volume.

I am on a HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx with beats audio, running Windows 7 64-bit. When I changed my volume, the beats audio logo with a volume meter under it would pop up, but it no longer shows up. I haven't noticed any change in the quality of my sound, and I can still actually adjust the volume level. The problem is the volume meter no longer displays to show me the volume level.

If anyone has any clue as to why this happened, that would be great!

I have a truecrypt encrypted volume which is my entire hard drive.  This contains the windows OS and my files(one of many backed up encrypted copies).  I would now like to implement a 2nd truecrypt volume inside this present truecrypt volume.  Truecrypt calls this a hidden volume.  The idea is that at boot-up, you can use one of two passwords.  The one you choose dictates which (the primary or the hidden) volume.  The easy way to do this is to do it when first creating both truecrypt volumes but I did not realize I wanted to create this hidden volume until now.  All of the instructions I have seen require you to dismount the encrypted volume which will host the hidden volume first.  However I can't do that because I need that volume decrypted in order to run the truecrypt software which performs the function.

Any ideas other than decrypting the encrypted volume and starting from scratch?

for some reason, the volume on real player sorta acts like the master volume thing.. hope that makes sense. for instance, i started playing a game and the sound was just reaaaal loud. so i remembered i watched something recently on real player and put the volume on max. so i lowered it and it fixed the problem. and if i listen to music from winamp, i lower the volume on real player, and the volume goes down. how do i fix this??

ok so this problem was just about from the beginning. i thought i would be patient and it would go away. at first i noticed that while using msn messenger, its volume control for voice chat controled the main volume for the whole pc. so if it was low things wouldnt sound as high as i wanted. no matter if i adjusted the main volume in the control panel, which was always set to highest, the volume would still be at the mercy of Msn M. so if it was lower than usual i would have to sign into msn m and adjust it. not only does this happen with msn m. it also happens with web video applications used by youtube, livevideo, etc etc! those arent usually the culprit of low sound. its usually just msn m. even now with live messenger i have the issue. im tired of being patient so here i am

For some reason the onscreen display for the volume controls and screen brightness on my W530 stop working after coming back from sleep or resume. I have an HP f2105 21" monitor running on Windows 7 x64. Recently the Volume Icon keeps appearing on my screen, and automatically increases the volume to 100%. I have not made any significant changes in my operating system. The Icon stands in front of all other screens and cannot be dismissed. It quits when it's ready after a few seconds. It pops up every 3-4 minutes or so. My drivers are up to date. I've tried disconnecting the monitor and reconnecting it. Turning it off and on, etc. So far nothing has helped.

Hello melb1946Does your keyboard have volume buttons? I know in my experiences I have sometimes run into similar scenarios. In my case the problem was accidentally hitting the volume button on my keyboard. How is your sound setup in Windows 7? Is your monitor set as the default sound device? Do other sound devices increase their volumes?Probably one of the best ways to isolate the problem would be to put the monitor on another computer and see if the sound continues to appear and go up.

Have an external USB hard drive caddy with a naked Raptor drive sitting in it which has one partition that is the entire capacity of the Raptor drive...this is an 'active' volume.
1. Can someone tell me if I delete the volume under Computer Management>Disk Management>Delete Volume will this return it to being an 'inactive' volume?
2. Also can you tell me after deletion will I need to initialise the drive in the usual way like when one installs a new drive in a PC?
3. Upon reboot will Windows just offer to initialise it within Disk Management?

I want it to just be a simple, basic, single partition drive just for data backup. In past it was my OS drive which is when it was made an active volume. Using W7/64bit professional.

Thanks...Gary

I'm using a Logitech 35 headset on Windows 8.1 64-bit and all drivers are updated but when i want to adjust the volume, the volume mixer becomes unresponsive and stops working and my headset stops receiving sounds.

A:Volume mixer becomes unresponsive when I change volume

The G35 headsets I found, doing a search, are 7.1 surround sound headphones, USB connected and with a volume control in the headset cable. Is this what you have? If it is you should apparently be controlling the volume from the headset's volume control and not the PC???

Hello everyone! I run Windows 8.1, and have been having a strange issue lately. A reformat and fresh install did nothing to help this.

Seemingly at random, in my volume mixer, specific programs will drop to 10% level. If I turn the volume all the way back up, it'll only go back down a bit later. I've tried this with / without my realtek drivers. Also, I've set the option under "Communications" in playback devices to "Do nothing", and this still hasn't helped. Any VoIP programs I use I've turned off ducking, and yet the problem still persists.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Short Story
Wave meter in volume control keeps stopping. I googled it, seems to be a virus. Performed a virus scan, came up with nothing. Did it with another anti-virus program, also showed nothing. Need help. Thanks.

Long Story
So basically, I wanted to watch a youtube video. When I played it, there was no sound. Thinking it was a simple volume problem, I checked the video volume, the small icon on the taskbar, and even went into the control panel to adjust the volume settings. I thought it might be my headphones, but I tried using the speakers and neither worked. I tried doing the voice playback, and then I could hear my voice. I thought maybe it was fixed. Played the video, no sound. At that point I thought it was my sound card. I didn't want to replace it, so I kept trying to look for a better solution. After much frustration, I managed to make my way into the volume control. Start - Control Panel - Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices - Adjust the System Volume - Audio - Sound Playback: Default Device: SoundMAX Digital Audio - Volume - Wave. I saw that the Wave option was all the way down, and moved it up. After moving it, I could hear the video crystal clear, so I closed all the windows I didn't need anymore. Well, after about 30 seconds, the volume shut off again. I went back into volume control, and the wave bar was all the way down again. I raised it, and closed the window. I was looking for the apply button to become available, for I had assumed that not app... Read more

Hello. Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to read this.  I`m in a crux...

Here are my computer specs:
OS: Windows 7 64bit home premium (latest windows updates installed)
CPU: Intel i5 3570K (slightly oc`d to 43)
mobo: Asus p8z77-v Pro/thunderbolt
gpu: Asus HD 7850
sound card: none (using onboard realtek)
logitech mouse
cheap keyboard
speakers: logitech externally powered (two speakers 1 subwoofer - really cheap)

I put all the parts together myself and had the system running nice - before I moved.  At the time there were no problems with sound I also had a DAC connected via USB, so I was switching between headphones and speakers depending on the occassion.

Here`s where my prob started.  I recently moved.  I carried the pc by hand to ensure it didn`t get banged up or incur any excessive shock.  Aside from the slight bobbing motion of my walking I`d believe no harm was done to the machine.

I hooked it up at the new apartment, with the hdmi cable going from ati card to the TV.  The TV plays back the sound perfectly - running the sound through the speakers though the volume is nearly inaudible over the fan sound.  I tried to play sound through various software, youtube, windows media player, vlc, and others (ensuring their respective volume sliders were at full), but it`s still quiet.

When I hooked up the PC this second time the mouse and keyboard were most likely connected to different usb... Read more

A:Very quiet volume although all (?) volume controls are maxed.

As you say the sound over your TV is excellent, there is almost certainly nothing wrong with the performance of your on-board sound. Without seeing them, am I right in thinking that you take a lead from the audio out at the back of your computer to the speakers, and their internal amplifier drives the sound output ?  If so, and this may be very silly, is this lead plugged into the correct socket at the back of the computer ?

Failiing that, see if you can borrow some speakers from a friend, any speakers at all will do. This will enable you to determine if the problem is with your speakers or the sound output.

I like to listen to music loudly sometimes. I have both the volume mixer and my application's volume set to maximum levels, but it's not loud enough for my liking. Is there any way to increase the maximum sound volume in Win7?

I don't think they have altered the Volume limit in Windows 7 but you could always have a play with Graphic equalizer to see if you can increase it a bit there.

Hello, Ten Forums!

I was wondering whether it were possible to open the volume mixer instead of the volume control when left-clicking on the volume icon in the tray. At the moment I have it set to open the old classic menu, but not the volume mixer.

So, is it possible?

Thanks.

I've had this problem with Windows Vista Ultimate 64, Windows 7 64 7077, and Windows 7 64 7100.

Basically, the volume starts out at normal level, then all the sudden it will be real quiet. It stays quiet and no matter what settings I adjust, I cannot get it to play louder again. I would really like to disable all of the volume controls in windows and run Bit Perfect audio....

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
Audio Rig: B&K 7270, Emotiva DMC-1, Polk LSI-25

That amp is putting out nearly 400 wpc (weighing nearly 100lbs O_O) to each speaker... My normal listening volume is -46 db (on my DMC-1)... now I have to put it on -17Db to get the same listening level. Something is wrong, and it's definitely the settings in windows.

I noticed the change immediately while I was listening and accidentally adjusted the bass settings in windows sound settings, the sound level fell instantly, and never returned...

any ideas?

So I recently moved my microphone/headset plugs to the rear jacks of my computer, the reason I did this was because when plugged in to the front jacks, my microphone had a white noise I couldn't get rid of, the rear jacks doesn't have this issue, but my mic volume is quiet

I think it might be a driver issue? I know its not my mic because when plugged in the front, people can hear my voice fine but there's just static noise too, and it's sort of loud

A:Microphone Volume is quiet, even at maximum volume

More PC info is needed. Including what sound and sound driver you have.

The front panel jacks are just an extension of the sound jacks. Usually if there is problem, the front do not work correctly but the read does. Are you plugging the mic into the correct Pink jack? If it were plugged into the wrong jack that can happen.

Since a long while ago I've been having some weird issues with audio on my HP Netbook. Whenever I listen to audio on anything that has a separate volume slider (e.g. Youtube videos or iTunes) the volume is always at maximum. If I slide the slider back to minimum the sound slowly crawls back up to maximum while the slider stays down at minimum. Strangely this only seems to happen when using headphones/earbuds. I tried recreating it without headphones but it does not appear when using the laptop speakers. I also tried changing earbuds/headphones but to no avail, the sound kept playing on maximum volume. Also to make clear, the windows volume sliders work just fine. When at minimum the sound stays at minimum. It's only on separate volume sliders that are embedded in programs themselves. Julliath

Hello sevenforums,
I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.

A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?
