CURSOR ON WIRELESS MOUSE FREEZING AND COMPUTER

Q: CURSOR ON WIRELESS MOUSE FREEZING AND COMPUTER

Hi.. I have had this problem for about a week now....
I have a sony vaio windows 7 IE 8 Laptop that I love and it is only a year old.
in the past 5 days the cursor on my logitech wireless mouse freezes. The only way to get out of it is ctrl. alt. del and it goes to my home screen and I cancel and the cursor comes back.. sometimes I go for hours and it doesnt
freeze and then sometimes it freezes every 5 minutes. there are times when I ctl. alt delete and it goes to my screen and I have to manually shutdown as even if I touch the pad on my laptop I cannot close it.. and of course when the cursor freezes
the screen freezes too.

Just to let you know that there is nothing wrong with my battery or mouse
as I have another one just like it and it does the same thing

I contacted Sony Vaio and they came in by remote and put in a patch
and said that should do the trick. but it did not...

any ideas....

do you need more info and if so what else would help in this situation.

I also play some games and that is when I most get this. and I have
the flash 102..... the latest version. and my java is uptodate.

I should also say that at times my IE8 says not responding.....

thanx Coco.

p.s.I have a friend who is very computer savy and comes in by remote
to fix things on my computer and this is stumping even him..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
I have windows vista.
A couple of weeks ago someone on here assisted me with my computer. I had search engine redirect, along with other problems.
It was okay for awhile but then all of a sudden it started working very badly now. One thing is norton 360 seemed to disappear from my computer. I got directions and uninstalled norton and then reinstalled it again, now the norton seems to be working okay.
But since then, the mouse cursor has been moving erratically, totally disappearing and freezing up the whole screen. The screen keeps flashing to blank screens or my previous screen for a few seconds and then coming back to the screen I am on. It is having problems restarting alot of times and sometimes I can not even do anything before it freezes. I have started it in safe mode with networking and still seemed to have the same problems. The mouse pointer was still moving erratically and not working well. Just in the time that I have typed this so far the screen has flashed to a previous screen 4 times.
I have run norton scans and I dont think it is finding to much but tracking cookies.
Any other help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kim

A:computer freezing, mouse cursor disappearing or moving erratically

Hello Kim,,, may be having a hard drive beginning to fail or file corruption. I would recommend immediate backupo of important files in case. Probably not a malware issue. So I 'd run SFC and if you still hae trouble ask this in Vista and they can check your drive and other things. Please run SFC (System File Checker) Please run System File Checker sfc /scannow... For more information on this tool see How To Use Sfc.exe To Repair System FilesNOTE for Vista/WIN 7 users..The command needs to be run from an Elevated Command Prompt.Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box,right-click cmd.exe in the list above and select 'Run as Administrator'You will need your operating system CD handy.Open Windows Task Manager....by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESCThen click File.. then New Task(Run)In the box that opens type sfc /scannow ......There is a space between c and /Click OKLet it run and insert the CD when asked.

Hi there,

My mouse cursor freezes once every ~30s for about 1~2s. It doesn't happen all the time, but I suspect it might happen because of the usage of postgreSQL, as I've seen 2 other people with the same problem who also used it.

I have tested another mouse, the problem persists. I've tried updating mouse/USB drivers as well, nothing helped.

My trackpad, however, doesn't stop working at any time.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

A:Mouse cursor freezing

Interesting how when you tested another mouse the issue persisted, but it works with the trackpad. Are both mice you tried (non-trackpad) wired or wireless?

Lately my HP Pavilion 750n (Windows XP as the OS, 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor and 768 MB RAM) has developed an problem of the mouse cursor freezing. This is accompanied by a click sounding from the tower and the HD light comes on. The computer completely locks up, so I can't determine what is causing this since pressing the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys are inoperative. I have to unplug the power, then re-start to get the mouse working again. I have MSE as the security software. Scans with this show no viruses. Any idea what's going on?

A:Mouse Cursor Freezing

The HP Pavilion 750n desktop is several years old, so it's a good probability the hard drive is failing.
The freezing mouse cursor and clicking sound from inside the tower reinforces that suspicion.

If the hard drive does need replacing and you don't have the original recovery disc kit available to install Windows XP, you can purchase it here.

Hi Baggy2014,

Have you checked a different mouse on the system to isolate the issue? Also, perform a clean boot on the system to check the same:

Also, check the system under safe mode and let us know if it occurs there as well:

Since the issue I'm having is roughly equivalent to Windows itself hanging, I figured this would be the best place.
What is happening is that Windows freezes and I can't interact with anything on the screen. CTRL-ALT-DEL and CTRL-SHFT-ESC methods to try to bring up the task manager do not work. I am, however, able to move the mouse when this is happening, but cannot interact with anything. The only thing that returns my system to normal is a hard boot . Over a 2 week period, it has happened at an increasing rate, but my system has run completely stable for something like 5-6 years now. I formatted and reinstalled windows in hopes of a fix, but it's still happening.

I purchased a A485 and worked well but quickly replaced Mech harddrive with SSD. After reinstalling windows 10 I noticed I loss the function of the backlit keyboard, as well as my mouse cursor kept freeze when using the Track point when I would use the middle button for scrolling. all drivers up-to-date and even tried reinstalling windows and drivers again...still have this issue the mouse freezing is the must fustrating since I primarily use the Trackpoint to control my mouse functions. I found that locking (windows + L) and login back in frees up the mouse again...but typically freezes shortly after pretty fustrating, especially when one of the main reasons I buy Lenovo is their trackpoint. I've seen people have similar issues but no resolutions in their threads.

This is what the even viewer says;

I think I may need update the video drivers but I'm not sure. I've been trying to download them since early this morning but the computer crashes before I can.

A:Wireless mouse cursor randomly jumps around.

Hi TheUnknownM

If your PC is limited to USB1 or USB 2, a USB3 hub will be limited by the USB port it is connected too.
USB3 in a USB2 port will be at USB2 speed. Same with a USB2 hub in a USB1 port.

The the mouse USB device must not be in a hub. Even a mains powered hub. I tried it myself.
Self powered hubs can be dodgy ... self powered USB discs through a self-powered hub ... might not be recognised by WinExplorer. (It happened to me)

I don't know if a mains powered hub will suck enough juice through a USB1 port to be effective. I doubt it.

Any mouse does not like very shiny surfaces or uneven surfaces (my desk has knotty pine and the mouse went weird until I used a mouse mat)

Hope this helps

That is called the Touch Pointer, its easy to turn off once you know where to look.
Click Start, type pen in the search box or open control panel aand click Pen and touch.
Click the touch tab and uncheck Show the touch pointer... then just click ok to  close the dialog and the ghostly mouse picture will be gone.

Hi there

I have a problem with my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3.1A, running an Optical Mouse 2000 and a Multimedia Keyboard 1.1. The driver is the latest from Microsoft.

I get random freezeups - it seems like the receiver stops working as both mouse and keyboard stop responding simultaneously.

It tends to happen soonish after boot (within a few minutes) or not at all (cross fingers).

I've tried putting the usb in other ports, same result. I've looked in Device Manager, no conflicts. I've looked at system reports but nothing ever shows up - except that I've had to force a reboot.

Any ideas?

I am having difficulty booting my pc.  It would sometimes hang in POST, then sometimes get to "Press any key to boot from CD" then sometimes boot just fine.  All the time it would intermittently hang and/or take a long amount of time to make any progress though the boot steps.  I replaced several small 500GB Samsung hard drives which reported trouble in Seatools for DOS with larger 2TB drives and that seemed to help at first.  Recently boot problems began to occur again which i noticed because i kept having to restart after intermittent freezing in the desktop.  I disconnected the DVD drive and that seems to have stopped the boot issues, though i would like to trouble shoot that issue as well.  I have continued to have trouble with intermittent mouse cursor freezing/system locks for the last few weeks.  I appreciate any help you can provide.  Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I am experiencing the problem from past one month or so.My pc just freezes randomly sometimes with a buzzing sound from the speaker and sometimes with no sound but the cursor stays fixed on the screen in both cases. When it happens nothing works i.e keystrokes don't have any effect, mouse pointer doesn't move, just nothing.Any moving thing just freezes , if there is a progress bar indicating some installation or video playing or whatever it just stops with the last frame.Sometimes it then goes on to restart on its own,but in most cases I have to do it manually.I also get the "display driver stopped working and has recovered" message just before the reboot irregularly. On reboot I do get Black screen sometimes after the Windows login.
However I have noticed this freezing issue mostly happens when I'm browsing. It did happen once or twice when I was playing games or just after I had booted onto the desktop though but it's very rare.Mostly it happens when I'm browsing ,opening new tabs, facebooking, googling or watching videos on youtube etc.I don't know whether it has any connection with that problem but I found it worth mentioning.

Hello and thanks for taking the time to look at my problem.

I just moved to a new apartment and today I finally plugged in and set up my desktop PC for the first time since moving. The computer has never had any problems before, and it had been running on a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit for only a month before I moved, with avg/firewall/spybot&malwarebytes--so it should be free of viruses or malware. Now that I have set it up in my new room, the computer will boot to windows login, get to the desktop, work normally for about 3 minutes, and then everything freezes except for the mouse cursor. Can't click anything, ctrl+alt+delete, completely non-responsive. I left it like this for 20 minutes to be sure, but it seems to be a permanent freeze until restart.

The computer is a custom-built PC with a EVGA P55-SLI mobo, core-i5 750 @stock, 4gb 1333mhz RAM, radeon 5770, and 640gb SATA-2 hard drive, and an 850w corsair PSU. I ran memtest for 12 hours only 2 months ago and it was perfect with no errors, so I don't think that it's a memory issue unless the memory degraded catastrophically over that period when it's hardly been used. The case runs very cool (one 120mm in front, one in back, artic freezer tower on the cpu, HAWK heatpipe cooler on the gpu). I've opened her up, checked all the physical connections between the mobo and components, cleaned all the dust out...

I'm at a loss here. The house i've just moved into is pretty old, and I don't know if the elect... Read more

Hi,

I'm stumped! We have two computers in the house network hardwired together with a Linksys router and switch. When my wife moves her mouse around the cursor on my screen moves around. When she clicks her mouse it clicks on my screen as well. It's driving me crazy..!! I'm not positive but it seems to stop momentarily when I reset the router and modem, but returns shortly thereafter. I've run all the Norton 360 virus scans. I can't figure out what the problem is.. Please can you help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Many thanks for this great website. I've gone thru the process for posting log. My Panda virus scan took many hours...whew...

A few months ago, I opened a file sent to me from yahoo messenger friend. After that, my mouse cursor took control. Even now as I try to post this log... I'm fighting it!

It moves up the screen to the top and across to the right and then tries to click the X. Yesterday when scanning with Panda, it closed the virus scan twice... so frustrating.

My start up is now taking close to 10 minutes from turning computer on to finally being able to start work.

Please let me know if I can provide further info such as the ActiveScan.txt

Kind regards,

Keith

What an adventure!

My computer suddenly would not load Windows. It simply went to a black screen with the flashing mouse cursor. I finally gave up and did a System Restore. (Backed up all my files, now can't recover them but I'll check into that elsewhere on the forum!!). The problem went away for a few starts, then returned.

After hours with HP Support, I was told to remove all 4 memory sticks and reseat them. Quite a feat for someone with MS, but finally got it done. Now the computer is running great, but I don't know if the problem is solved. There are no faults showing in the Windows Error file since I worked on the memory.

Is it possible to look at this and see if my problem is solved?

Thank you,

TnJim

A:Multiple BSOD - Computer stops before loading Win 7. Mouse cursor only

Hello Jim, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Hopefully it was only your RAM sticks not properly seated that caused it.

Please go ahead read the instructions here: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions, and post back with the needed information if it's available. One of our BSOD experts should be by afterwards to further help.

This one truly has me confused. I started one of my computers and it started as normal I saw the Windows logo with the bar scrolling beneath it and the next thing I know I have a black screen with the cursor on it. I am able to move the cursor but can see nothing else. I have tried putting in a new video card in and am still getting the same problem. I have tried rebooting the computer in safe mode but it also does not give me a screen now safe mode does display drivers before showing blank screen with cursor. Any Suggestions on how to correct this?

1. Optical USB mouse won't move the cursor.
2. Mouse buttons function properly
3. Bought a new similar mouse, same problem, ruling out damaged mouse likelihood.

4. Have tried multiple USB slots. Have tried rebooting. Have tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting.
5. Saw somewhere to remove battery but I'm in a hotel and have no screwdriver to do so.

Really need to fix this as my shoulder is becoming inflamed reaching to the mousepad. Help?

Hello,
i am new here, i am making this post to ask about an issue that i have ran into today. my PC would run normally then freeze after about 30 sec of being on. the mouse moves normally but no input is made. generally i ran my computer in safe mode and have done a scan on the pc, i have found out that i have 37 corrupted logs, and they aren't being fixed when i try to use the command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth. i have ran SFCfix, and i have been provided some information, this information i have attached but i am asking for further guidance to help me fix this problem.

Thank you and i am sorry if this is in the wrong place i honestly have no idea where it should be put.

A:Computer freezing while mouse still active

Please post the sfc /scannow log. To find sfc /scannow log open the Command Prompt, this needs to be run using a Administrator account.  To assure that this occurs use the following instructions to open the Command Prompt. Click/tap on the Taskbar Search icon (magnifing glass) and type cdm.You will see Command Prompt under Best match, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Copy and paste the command below, then press Enter.copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txtThis will place the log on your desktop.  Copy and paste the log at the host website I've suggested below. Please note:  This log usually is very large, for this reason you should use a host website like Dropbox to post the log.  You can start a free 30 day trial.  Once you have loaded the log at Dropbox post a link to the website.

So my computer has been freaking out lately. I got a new motherboard and everything was fine for a while, but after a resent wipe & reloading windows from scratch, its started acting funk.
For ony thing, my cursor (possibly even everything else, but i'm not sure on that yet) will freeze for a second, and then resume functioning normally. its not my mouse, because a restart fixes things for a while.
In addition, sometimes out of the blue, my cursor will double in size and become all pixel-y and the colors are Cyan, Magenta, and yellow.
Also, sometimes when I try to turn my computer off/restart, it will not finish shutting down. The screen goes black and it hangs in shut-down mode indefinitely. I have to power it off with the power button for it to finish turning off.
Not sure where to begin looking for a problem.

My grandpa's laptop has been practically unusable as of late... it's been 3 days technically. All programs will "freeze" within a few minutes, and if more than one program has been opened aside the startup defaults, there's no chance. He's had the laptop for roughly a year and it has never reacted this way.

I recently have cleaned the HD and defragged, cleared out all of %temp%, and ran a few virus programs (which detected a few mywebsearch adware that is promptly removed) to no avail.

Hi there. So lately my computer has been slow and the mouse keeps on freezing. When I ran a scan with Ad-Aware and with Super Antispyware, they found some things which I removed, but it still seems rather slow. I'm pretty sure I have some type of spyware or a virus or something. Thank you for any help!Edit: Also, when I clicked the DSS logo, it didn't come up with all of the prompts it was supposed to do.. it just told me what it was doing, and it only came up with this one log... A while back, when someone here was helping me a different problem, they instructed me download DSS and it ran the way it was supposed to last time. Maybe I still had the other DSS I downloaded before when I downloaded it just now, and that's why it didn't give the right logs?? Sorry about that.. Oh and also, all of the hidden files on my desktop and in My Documents and such are now shown.
