Lenovo Yoga 520 screen protection against scratches from active pen

Q: Lenovo Yoga 520 screen protection against scratches from active pen

Hi everyone.I have just bought Lenovo Yoga 520 and I was enjoying drawing on screen with active pen. But then I realized that during my research before buying the device I never saw any kind of protection like gorilla glass series on the screen. I wonder if active pen scratches eventually the screen? If so the maybe I should buy some screen protector before too late.My device is Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB 81C8 i5-8250U 4G 256G SSDThanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, Yesterday I bought a new lenovo yoga 720 (15) along when lenovo active pen 2. The laptop is fantastic, but the pen experience is not great. It is not writing smoothly. I had to put some pressure to write on the screen. At first I thought the pen is faulty, however I noticed that at some parts of the screen the pen is able to write so smoothly, whereas in other parts, the pen is facing friction. I don't know what to make of it. I cleaned the screen, changed the nibs, tested on different apps (one note, xodo) but it is showing the same behavior. To be specific, the left bottom and right bottom of the screens are smooth to write on whereas the top area is causing friction.  Any solutions to resolve this?  Thank you

Hi, Have anyone experience small scratches on the screen (like small impacts, not long scratch) due to dust on the keyboard when you close the laptop ?  I have the X1 since less that 1 month and already have some small scratches.I see them when screen is black and outside lightning is facing it.They are not removable with microfiber cleaning. Seems because when laptop closed, screen is almost touching the keyboard...(i have the trackpoint dots marks on the screen...). How do you deal with this ?Which screen protector do you use ? Regards,Kristo.

hi, I'm using t420. I've replaced the HDD with a Crucial M4 SSD. I have some questions. The HDD will stop when a shock detected by TheThinkvantageActiveProtectionSystem. But now i'm using a SSD, I don't know that the Disk can be caused by stopping when a shock detected. Should I worry about it?

A:The Thinkvantage Active Protection System-Lenovo airbag protection

An SSD has no moving parts so there's no need to run APS. If you don't have any HDDs inside your T420, e.g. in the Ultrabay or mSATA, you can just uninstall APS altogether.

Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Lenovo Active Pen is also compatible with the yoga 920, or whether only the Lenovo Active Pen 2 works. Moreover, I was wondering if the Lenovo Active Pen also looses contact when writing if you hold the pen close to the nub. Thanks! for your help

A:Lenovo yoga 920 compatible with Lenovo active pen

Hi huQbbTCi,

Greetings.

Lenovo active pen 1 is also compatible with Yoga 920 as shown in the accessories search tool here PART # GX80K32884. It would be less sensitive to depth perception but with palm rejection enabled then you may not have the same issue on losing contact with it.

It would also be favorable to have it tried first before any purchase specially if you have someone that have it and compare it with other active pens whichever would be comfortable and efficient to your writing style.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Or any other active pen (Wacom, etc.) The pen included is quite small so i will lost it in no time . Thank you all in advance

Hey Guys I'm rather confused about the pen support for the new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15. I've read quite a bit about it and find the information quite inconsistent. Some say it does support active pen some say it will in april and some say it doesn't. What I would like to know:A.) What kind of pen technology does the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 support atm?B.) Are there any changes in sight? / When? / What changes?C.) Can I write on it while resting my hand on the screen aka has it palm rejection?D.) How good is it for note taking? Can it keep up with my writing speed? Links to videos where I can actually see it being used / tested would be greatly appreciated.

A:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Active Pen

From what I know there isn't too much information out so far. But here's what I found out. First off, the current Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 don't support pen digitizers at all, and will not in the future.Secondly, the Toshiba Encore 2 Write apparently uses the same technology. See this thread. Here's what I know:- It's called Wacom "Active ES" as in Active Electro Static.- It's battery powered. Unlike Wacom's older technology, you need a battery in the pen.- Palm rejection is more of a driver thing and not the technology. So it works, basically.- People say it feels "different", not sure if that means better or worse.- Precision is apparently very good, perhaps even better than the older tech without battery.- Pen lag (speed) doesn't seem to be an issue. Might even be better than the older technology. Other than that I personally couldn't find any information about whatever will be built into the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 Only that they call it "Active Pen" and that it will be out in April. Also that the displays will support something called "anypen" which basically means you can use any pen-shaped metal object to write on the display. But that isn't really of any interest to me because I want pressure sensitivity.

I just purchased this 2 in 1 with the Active Pen, and cannot get it to work with the drivers that Lenovo specifies, and I have also tried several different drivers from Wacom.  The Pen will pair with Bluetooth, but will not stay connected.  The batteries are all in correctly, but the pen will not stay connected or activate anything on screen.  Also, I am not able to get the touch screen to work either, so I am wondering if there is an issue with the digitizer, or that it may be missing drivers for the touchscreen and digitizer.  Does anyone have any ideas what could solve this issue?

I would not be surprised if this is completely operator error - I've never used a stylus / pen for a computer before.  I just received my Yoga 920, along with an Active Pen 2.  I was able to sync the pen to the bluetooth, and double clicking the top button brings up the screen sketch application, but I cannot otherwise get the pen to work.  I can write in the screen sketch with my finger, but the pen does nothing.  Is there a driver or application I need?  On the instructions I found here:https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/options/lenovo_active_pen2_qsg_v2.0_201705.pdfIt says "to customize the button functions use Wacom pen application" so I downloaded that from online.  It doesn't recognize that my pen is linked, even though the bluetooth menu says it is, and upon further reading on the Wacom app site, it does not appear that the Active Pen 2 is supported. Is there something I'm missing or not doing correctly?  I don't see any similar problem in these forums, at least not specific to the yoga 920.

Hi, can someone confirm that all Yoga 720 models work with a Lenovo Active Pen? The only model that's sold with a pen is $600 more expensive than the next most expensive model (with basically the same spec minus the pen). Given that a pen isn't anywhere near $600, it gives me concern that the rest of the models (without an included pen) won't work with a pen that could be purchased separately. Thanks.

Hello, I just bought a Lenovo yoga 520 from a local retailer yesterday. It came with the Lenovo Active Pen. I tried to draw on Paint Tool SAI at night and I would just like to ask if it is normal that the tablet screen register my pinky (since it touches the screen first before the pen tip) before the actual pen? It is a bit distruptive when i am drawing because it will create a stroke by my pinky which I do not want. This morning when I tried to draw again, the pen to have some odd behavior. If I do a quick stroke/flick and lift my pen away from the screen, the stroke will not follow through and the screen is temporarily disabled and does not respond to mouse clicks or hand touches (as if I did not lift the pen up at all.) I have to tap the screen again with my pen and the stroke will connect to where I tapped. This issue does not happen when I wear a piece of cloth on my palm or if I draw the stroke slowly and life it up slowly. So I would just like to ask:1. If I buy a Bamboo styus (which I am aware is compatible with Yoga 520,) will I be able to draw faster strokes with smoother follow through?2. Is this a normal problem faced by fellow artists too?

Hello folks, so far I really like the Yoga 720 but I have this really strange problem when I'm drawing on the screen. Every time I draw slowly (and sometimes even when I draw quickly) my lines become jittery and not in the wobbly sense. More in the "leaving-the-road" kind of way. Here is a video proof of my issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyrS63BTJ6AI really want to use this tablet for drawing but this annoys the hell out of me. Is this normal? Is it a driver problem?I already uninstalled and reinstalled the Wacom Pen Driver and I checked the box "Ignore touch input when I'm using pen" in the Windows Ink menu.I'm having the 1080p HD Model of the Yoga 720 15 Inch with the 256 gb SSD. I have the same problem in all of them. Can anyone please help me? I really like this tablet. Greetings

Hi, Confused on this one, my X1 Yoga has developed a few minor scratches on the coating right on the bottom edge towards me. I don't wear a watch and I don't believe it is from being carried folded up as the screen edge of the device is fine. I have 3-year ADP + Battery warranty, considering the age of the device (~3 months) I am not very impressed it seems to have scratched so easily for some unknown reason. Wondering if Lenovo can do anything about this. Thanks,Callum

If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

On a previous post, I asked regarding the Permanent Smudge marks that looks like minor scratches. In doing a little research, I find this as a possible solution:

Novus Plastic Polish

https://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-7136-Plastic-Polish-Kit/product-reviews/B002UD0GIG

According to what I've read, this can also be used on Glossy LED Screens, similar to what my Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ikb has.

Any thoughts, feedback on this? Im planning on buying this before opting for a screen replacement.

Many Thanks!

I just recently noticed this. At first I thought this was just a sticker residue since I have brought my Laptop for warranty service due to a defective hard-drive. There are permanent smudge marks that looks like sticky residue that came from whatever was placed on the screen. Unfortunately, I can't argue this with the Service Center since I discovered this 2 weeks after getting my device. I tried cleaning the screen with different things, Alcohol Swabs with a few drops of water as to dillute the Isoprophyl Alcohol concentration. I even tried a facial tissue partially dampened with WD-40 as this is known to remove any sticky residues on any hard-materials. But both methods fail. I have read and seen some guides on YouTube which involves toothpaste, white-eraser, but are both risky as it might make the situation worse. What do I have to do to remove them without resorting to replacing the Screen itself? Is the glass panel that covers the LED Screen replaceable, similar to Gorilla Glass on top of most touchscreens? And what other methods can you recommend? Im running out of options. My laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ikb with the following specs: 1. 15.6 FHD LED Screen2. 8Gb DDR4 RAM3. 1Tb 2.5HDD4. NVIDIA 920MX Graphics Card Thank you.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.
