Peeling Screen

Q: Peeling Screen

From time to time various programs/applications will freeze-up and/or I will get a "Not Responding" message. Then the screen peels. I have used xp_taskbar repeatedly but it only works for a limited time. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Peeling Screen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This could be a heat issue, have you checked to see if you have a build up of dust on the heat sink and fan on the CPU?If this isn't the case, look in the Event Viewer to see what errors appear at the time that you are experiencing these freezes. All events are log with a date and time.Start> right click on My Computer> Manage> Event Viewer. Be sure that you choose System. The error will appear in the far left column and will appear as a red dot with a white X inside. Each of the columns has a title at the top of them, the column that you want is the Event column. When you see an error follow it to the right across the page to the event column, there will be a set of numbers in there, this is the error code. If you right click on the error code a drop menu will appear, click on Properties, another page will open which will contain a description of the error. Please post the error codes and descriptions back in this topic.

Hi Guys

I wondered if anyone knew how to prevent the screen protector on my iPod Touch (4th gen) from peeling off. There is a small part in the bottom left corner that keeps on coming up a bit. I think it is caused by the (rubber-like) iPod Case that I have which sort of pushes on the corner of the screen protector causing it to come up/out. If I remove the case then it is fine, but I need the case to hide all the scratches on the back!

The case is a CAPDASE case which is a bit stretchy and translucent. It protects the back

When I try to "tuck" it under the screen protector it stays fine for a minute or so but then it comes off again

Any ideas. Might glue work? Will it damage the screen

It is only one corner. The rest of the front is perfect

Thanks in advance

EDIT: It is a CAPDASE Soft Jacket 2 XPOSE

A:Prevent screen protector from peeling off

That "screen protector" is used during manufacture and shipping of the iPod and you can remove it anytime to solve this problem

My lenovo l380 yoga has some kind of layer peeling off the glass touchscreen, and on the bezels as well. This is the 3rd time I've had a problem with this device in 3 months. I don't want to send my computer to the depot back AGAIN, as it took around 1 month last time, and I spent so many hours on the customer service line, trying to find out the status, and waiting for parts.Im not very sure what this is, but I don't think this is supposed to happen, and if anyone could help out, that would be appreciated. The image of the peeling is below.

I have had my laptop for just under 3.5 years and it has served me great as a college student. Just now I tried opening the laptop and it made a cracking sound, after slowly opening it I found that the black plastic border on the lower right side is not anchored to the metal backing of the screen anymore. I can push it back in place but it doesn't snap in place. I would really like to get it fixed but not sure how to go about doing that or whether or not it is something I can do myself. It is pretty inconvenient as I have to be very cautious about opening and closing the screen and it is very inconvenient as a college student.

Hi guys!

I have a CD that I burnt a while ago. Unfortunately the edge of the face coating is peeling (i.e. now you can see through it) which is stopping my CD Drive from being able to read the data.

Is there any trick to fixing this? Can I use some kind of material to "coat" the CD again?

Look forward to hearing any tips.

Thanks in advance.

A:Peeling CD - How do I fix it?

As soon as the data layer starts to peel, there is no way saving it. Even if it is on the very edge and has no data on it, it is not saveable in anyway.

Basically, you gotta look after your CD's better.

My computer was running really slow so I ran AVG Antivirus and Ad-Aware but nothing untoward was detected. I thought maybe it was full of junk ( I didn't know what was junk and what wasn't) so I decided to reformat. I did this and everything seemed fine initially. It was opening and closing programs very quickly. That was a few weeks ago and yet again the same thing is happening again. Its started running really slow. The windows don't close instantly but peel down ever so slowly.

I downloaded all the updates after I reformatted from Microsoft like it advised and ended up with all these:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 185.00MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 208.00MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 28.04MB

Could this have anything to do with it's performance? Anyway, today I ran Avg Anivirus and Analyzer. No virused were detected but it did detect 868 errors:( Ad-Aware hasn't shown up any spyware or malware.

My System Properties are Windows XP Home Version 2002. I have an Intel?Pentium?4 CPU 3.00GHz and 448MB of RAM

I don't have games, lots of photos and music files. Only regular stuff like MS Office and the like
I would really appreciate any advice you can give me

A:Slow PC and Peeling Windows

<<today I ran Avg Anivirus and Analyzer...>>

What is Analyzer?

448MB of RAM can run XP...adding Office increases the toll on the system. If you have many other such applications installed...you need to look at removing them...or increasing the amount of RAM for the system, IMO.

Well, The title speaks for itself. I got a P1 a couple of months ago, expecting for all the durability and endurance branded by Lenovo, and I just noticed the paint is peeling out from the botton borders, left and right. Not sure why... This was an investment for me and I expected much better durability than what I am getting. It's amazing as well, becasuse I've been incredibly carefull handling the device, and it is way disappoitning to see the pain just peeling out for nothing. Does anyone had a simillar issue? How did it go? Should I contact warranty or it'll be worthless?

Hi everyone!I was wondering if anyone has experienced the problems I am about to describe with their thinkpad X1 carbon 6th Gen. I bought mine a few weeks  ago and was really happy with my choice until I noticed that everytime I lay my wrist below the keyboard it makes a sharp clicking noise. You can feel it and hear it everytime you push on that spot. Also, I noticed the painting is peeling off from the bottom part of the computer that heads toward my chest when using. It is brand new and I use a waterfield sleeve protection for the laptop all the time and take really good care of it (I've only had it for two weeks!). Has anyone experienced these problems? Michael

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen from a PC. I'm at the computer and the print screen key prints the previous screen rather than printing the current screen.

Another peculiarity on this PC is the behavior I get from a paid version of PDF-995. This is software that is used to convert non-PDF files into PDFs. It is behaving very strangely. Instead of capturing the current document, it appears to actually create a PDF that is a print-capture of the previous screen - the desktop screen that was up before you were looking at the document you want to convert to pdf format.

Has anyone ever seen this before?

It's running Windows XP Pro. The hardware is a 2.5GHz CPU with 256 MR of RAM. I haven't noticed any other odd behavior on the PC yet. No recent downloads that I know of.

I've been using Windows 10 for just over one year. For some reason the Lock Screen/Sign-in screen shows three users. All three are me in three iterations. I find also that when trying to save some excel and word documents I receive messages saying that i am not allowed to save to this folder or that folder. I am able to save to the desk top and then drag and drop the document into the folder that I need to place it in. I know that this must have something to do with "permissions". Not sure how to fix that. One of the accounts that shows up is the initial account that I created back when hotmail.com was around. Any ideas/advice on these issues? When i updated to Windows 10, pretty certain that i followed all of the instructions, although that has been over 1 year now. Thank you in advance...cheers and beers to all!

Recently my laptop screen had to be replaced due to a cracked screen. Original screen was a Samsung and the new screen is LG. After this, whenever I install Intel HD graphics, windows boots up till the login screen and then goes black, one bright flicker, then completely black again. However, when I boot into safe mode and replace Intel HD graphics driver with Standard VGA adapter, everything works fine, except for crappy graphics ofcourse. I tried installing various old/new/latest versions of driver software, upgrade/downgrade BIOS, install monitor.inf file from lenovo website for this laptop model, everything.
Odd thing: running Dxdiag shows my current display to be 1200x800 (32bit)(1hz).
So, I tried to change the display refresh rate in advanced settings> Screen refresh rate, no luck, no other option except ' Use hardware defaults'. So, I went ahead an modified registry values as given here:
How to Modify the Video Refresh Frequency in the Registry

Again, no use. After I reboot and go back and check, its set to 1 by default.

Tried 4 clean installs, installing on a completely new HDD, Windows 7 Pro, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 , everything..

Is it a screen problem? Or some hardware ID kind of thing?
What should I do ?

A:Black Screen/Blank screen after screen replacement

Not all laptop screens are the same. It is important to get a "replacement" screen, not a "compatible" one.

On the back of the laptop screen is a product sticker (you can only read this before you install the screen). On that sticker is the manufacturer and model #. You can use that number to find exact replacements.

How did you come to choose the LG screen?

Hey guys,

Ok so I redid the post as it all came out quite unclear and blurry.

Screen turns either black, grey or whatever color is closest to the program I was running in stripes as the image in my own reply shows.

Occationally my screen flickers but runs for a bit longer but it seems to be a sign of the system crashing.

The screen flickers occationally during bootup and sometimes causes my computer to run with the screen inactive. When the system crashes I often get a message showing the OC had failed when I am running default settings and sometimes I get an error loading OS which seems peculiar as I've had no issues with my harddrives on earlier occations untill now when I replaced my video card and RAM memory.

New card: ASUS adeon EAH5870 v2
Mainboard: ASUS P5P43TD(775-socket Intel Dualcore CPU running 3.16GHz)
New RAM: Corsair 16GB DDR3 1333MHz
OS: Newly installed Windows 7 64-bit

Both BSOD error logs are in a zipped folder in the first post.

A:Grey Screen, striped screen or pixelated screen

Bump with content ok so I managed to boot my system in safe mode and I'm going to add the .dmp file and the .xml file from the error log which for once confirmed a bluescreen(See picture for the "blue" screen)
Also the system nearly every time after crashing claims I have OC'd the system when I was running default settings except for setting the HDD with my OS first.

I've added both logs in the zipped folder attached, couldnt upload them as they were due to file format.

This is driving me crazy.

Right after I boot my laptop, the screen flashes randomly.

Also something is stealing focus from what I am working on to something else.

Then it likes to suddenly go to a grey screen. I have to manually reboot.

If that is not enough, it like to just reboot.

Scanned with my AVG and Kaspersky, nothing found. Tried TrendMicro House Call, nothing. Dr. Web, nothing.

All drivers are up to date.

I have run it in the safe mode for about an hour with no problems. No new software installed recently. I went to restore and it was only dated from the previous day, so no help there.

I would prefer not to Nuke and pave, but if that what I need to do, I can.

Any thoughts, theories, explosives you can recommend for this?

I have been having this problem since a week or so. Broni has helped me in malware forum to rule out malware as responsible. My machine is clean and I was refered here for further help.

Here is my problem:

At boot-time, I see windows XP load screen with the progress bar, the progress bar advances to the end and then, the screen turns pitch black and all is see is an arrow cursor I can move around. I thought until yesterday that this was a permanent freeze-up, but if I wait, say, 6 minutes, the black screen disappears and windows then starts normally.

Last week, problem was intermittent, it now happens all the time.

Windows boot-up was fine before.

Please help me.

A:Windows load screen at boot, looong black screen, then normal startup

I had this tons of times with my old XP PC. It is normal if you have a lot of files on the HDD and you have little RAM. How much RAM do you have? What is the capacity of the HDD? And do you have the Windows XP disc? Would you be willing to upgrade the RAM and/or the OS if we must resort to that? Or would you rather just buy a new PC?

I was being helped by Quads on the norton community. I know he helps out here too. Quads was helping me but I screwed up, thought I was helping to save time(yes, I know I saved you alot of time now) but I did not follow complete instructions.

This is what was done so far

OTL scan was run

adwcleaner was run

had adwcleaner delete all and reboot

ran combofix

when computer was rebooting it got stuck on the black screen for about an hour

Had to restart it again and when it did it restored to a previous date

This is where I screwed up

Since it was a previous date it seemed like nothing had taken place, no downloads on the desktop.

Ran the otl scan again

adwcleaner again, log looked the same as first time so I deleted all again

Ran combofix and rebooted and it gave me a log

That is where I am stuck, I dont know whether to leave these downloads on the computer, delete them

I dont think that Quads is going to help me anymore since I messed up, so I was wondering if anyone else could help. I just really want to finish what was started. The computer was stuck on the black screen this morning and finally got it restarted after about 5 times. But I do think there is some kind of virus. Still have adwcleaner and combofix downloaded on the computer. Dont know if I should delete them or what.

Hi all, my lock screen and blank screen timeouts do not work when my Windows 10 Pro Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen laptop 20HRS15800 is connected to the Lenovo USB-C docking station 40A9. If the laptop is not docked, the lock screen and blank screen timeouts work just fine and the screen goes off as expected. When docked and the timer expires, however, the external monitor and laptop screen briefly turn off for about 1 second, but both screens come right back on when they should not. I've googled and tried numerous suggestions for fixing this problem, which were mostly about double checking that the windows settings screens and the registry keys match up (Windows 10 has made a mess of the power settings, but I carefully checked and rechecked them to be sure they are set to go off on battery and AC at the same time). I've also updated and reinstalled display and monitor drivers, updated and reinstalled the docking station drivers and firmware, checked and rechecked the lock screen and blank screen timeouts in the Windows 10 settings interface and the registry, disconnected everything from the dock except for the external monitor (a Dell U2415 connected over the normal display port cable), and made sure that Windows and an all other Lenovo drivers are current, but I'm still having the problem. Has anyone solved this problem? Some help here would be much appreciated.

IdeaPad 320 screen went black.  Perhaps a backlight issue.  Sent device in to have it serviced.  After a month of no email communication from Lenovo Support Depot (only from my continual attempts to contact Lenovo) I am told that perhaps the damage occured during shipment.  Lenovo is unwilling to provide picture proof of the water damage.  Instead, they asked me for a picture of the device before I sent it in!  This is beyond ridiculous!  Who else is having issues with lack of communication from Lenovo's repair depot?  Who else is being told that their warranty is void due to liquid spill corrosion?  Is it just me?

Hi Everyone.

As the title says about, i have a Dell Vostro 1520 and im running Windows 7 with a 32bit. It is only 2 years only. It started about a month ago. I was on my laptop viewing and deleting some unwanted photos i had. A few minutes later i realized that i deleted a photo that i wanted. So i went to the recycling bin and restored that photo. When i went back to my photos and went into the album, it said something like i do no have permission to access this folder. Please press continue to get full permission. I clicked continue and i got the access i should have. Now i tried many more random folders and the same thing happened. Also when i came out of the folders, the folders had a big pad lock sign on the front of it. After that i shut down the laptop and went to turn it back on. The laptop will power on like normal. I can press f12 for the boot options. which i have already tried many times. I also tried it in safe mode and what-not, but still nothing. I can hear the fan and stuff spinning up like normal. I have also put and CD into the CD ROM and that spins up fine. So after the Dell logo on the screen, it goes black and stays that way with the cursor. You can move the cursor around no problem. I should also add that the battery light is and has been flashing for a good wile. Its flashing orange and blue. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the battery. I did hae a similar problem in the past with another Toshiba laptop and that was windows 8, the issue was connected with power save settings but I've tried all of those and no luck. Also tried the remove battery suggestions, nothing has worked.

I'm guessing windows has done an update that is causing this but I'm at a loss and google has turned up nothing.

Hello. I am trying to fix an HP G62-367DX Notebook PC.
Operating sys: Win 7, 64bit, AMD Turion(tm) 530II Dual-Core Processor, 4GB, 2.50GHz. I had this laptop since December of 2010 and on June of 2013 is when I used my notebook PC and was initially of no use. I have been working on my laptop on and off since. I am not afraid to open the sucker up and get this thing up and running.

The problem started out with what most ppl call it, the "blue screen of death". Like most ppl, I did ignore the blue screen and did a restart which brought me to the normal Windows screen and then it would start back up just fine. I found this in Device Manager's (Hidden Files):
Non-Plug and Play Drivers
-! ehdrv
-! epfwwfp
-! Security Processor Loader Driver
I am not sure if it has anything to do with what it was the blue screen situation, but I tried searching on the net on what it all meant and to see if I was able to fix it, but before I was able to do something about it, the blue screen kept popping up and it was getting worse.

The problem progressed to where on Windows startup it would just stop there, blue screen would pop up and of course I had to restart it and do an F8 key press for Safe Mode. I had to work on Safe Mode for a good couple of weeks before I can figure out the problem/s. I believe I had went into the system and found out it had something to do with some kind of error... *sigh* I did write it down, but that was like a month ago and I am unable to locate my ... After reinstalling windows 7 I installed the drivers for my hardware according to the Samsung website.

Since this happened, 80% of the time when I launch a program that enters full screen mode, i.e. games (and also sometimes when alt+tabbing out of these applications), the display goes solid black and then begins to cycle through solid colours.

The only thing I can imagine would be causing the problem to occur is when opening the programs the screen resolution changes and somehow causes an error due to the drivers.

The graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics.
The video BIOS is 1994.0
Current Graphics mode is 1600 by 900.

I'd really appreciate any useful comments on this problem as it has become quite tedious. If you need any more information please let me know what it is and the best way to obtain it.

Thanks in advance

I have a Dell Inspiron 14R N4110 Laptop. On pressing power button the screen becomes a bit shiny due to backllight, fan starts and parts seems to be spinning inside but screen remains blank, even dell logo does not appear. I have tried removing battery and pressing power button, also I tried pressing Fn button + Power button but I no luck. I also tried to reach diagnostic screen using F12 during boot but that also did not help. Power Led and Battery Led lights work but harddisk led does not blink.
Also I noticed that after pressing power button when I LONG PRESS any button of the keyboard, is sounds a continuous ticking sound like kirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
In all the troubleshooting no beep sound comes ever. Could someone suggest how to make my laptop functional again.

For a while now, I have noticed my Y50's screen turning black at apparently random times while in use?usually while gaming, but not always. Most of the time, I can fix it by closing the lid and reopening it. Other times, I must restart the computer for it to continue working as normal. I am fairly certain that this is due to a faulty screen, as my laptop is one of two identical laptops that were ordered at the same time (the other Y50 has already been shipped in for a screen replacement several months ago, which fixed the problem). This issue has been generally manageable, with slight interruptions here and there; but recently the screen's refresh rate seems to have lowered (not exactly sure what's going on here). It looks to be around 10-20 FPS (just guessing), but with large amounts of screen tearing.I was thinking that this second issue was due to the summer heat, however my laptop was running at 55 C today and the issue persists.Hopefully this second problem is related to the first, but I feel it's worth mentioning anyways. I can provide any other information that is needed. Thanks for any help.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 that is out of warranty. I bought it in 2013.  With that out o' the way, my Lenovo Yoga 13's screen stays black even when the power is on...I see no Lenovo logo or anything AND the laptop keeps restarting on its own, so it is stuck in restart mode, with the screen staying black the whole time.  This laptop has been doing this (black screen even though power is on and shuts off and restarts on its own) for about 6 months now....(Jan 2017-June 3, 2017 as of this writing). This laptop works WHEN IT WANTS TO EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE, BUT NOT OFTEN.  I turned the laptop on now, and I'm typing on it now, **BUT when it doesn't work, which is most of the time**, it shows a black screen (I see nothing on the screen) even with the power on and constantly restarts on its own. Is this hardware issue a motherboard problem or a screen issue specifically? Specifically, is it the motherboard that needs to be fixed on this Yoga 13 or is it a screen issue? If it's a motherboard issue that needs to be fixed, how much would it cost? Or If it's a screen issue, how much would that cost to fix? Any help on this is much needed!

Start up then screen goes black before I even get chance to log in. If I shine a torch on the screen I can see it is working but impossible to do anything.

I think it needs some new part(s) installed to fix this (I think).
I know it's an old no longer supported system but I use it to run the TV guide, play some language cd's I have installed & Google some info.

I think 1 item is n inverter ?

Thanks 4 any help

A:Inspiron 8600 running xp black screen but torch shone on screen & can vaguely see

It could be the inverter - particuarly if the failure was sudden.  It could also be the backlight bulb itself, meaning a replacement screen is needed.

Windows appears to load normally until reaching the logon screen at which point 2 quick cmd windows flash on the screen and i'm left with a cursor and a plain blue screen.

No access to task manager through ctrl+alt+del.

I was thinking it's a video card problem until i plugged in an external monitor and saw a windows error box pop up saying that the program running requires that you not be on battery power.

Pulled the drive and scanned with avast and malwarebytes which found nothing.

Inserted Vista DVD but the repair function is only able to find the HP Restore partition and is unable to locate any backups.

The system runs "mini XP" from Hirens Boot without a problem, but no diagnostics that i ran have been able to find any issues...

Hi, I am having several problems with my computer, wondering if I am infected with something? First noticed the computer running slowly. Then began freezing all the time. Then noticed that when I switch to a new internet page at times I notice a small black screen that will pop-up or flash on the page, but only for a second...almost like you'd get on a "run command" type scrren, if that makes sense. Also, I keep getting a security options failure. It seems this only comes after the computer freezes and I try to hit alt, control, delete to bring up task manager. I have tried to run Norton Anti-virus and spybot. I've used CCleaner to remove unnecessary files/clean. The virus software finds nothing unusual (usually some cookies with tracking, but no virus.
