Help!! Lenovo 710S plus - 13IKB freezing

Q: Help!! Lenovo 710S plus - 13IKB freezing

I just bought my 710S plus-13IKB ideapad laptop four days ago and have been facing some freezing issues while watching youtube but it's usually fine once I refresh the browser or close Chrome entirely so I didnt mind them. But just now (like 30 mins ago) it froze and nothing I click or press could work and the screen hasn't unfreeze since then. Im not good with tech stuff so I tried ctrl+alr+del and the novo bios button but both didnt work. Also to be frank, opening applications like folders etc tends to lag a little (or being a bit slow). Not sure if this is a Lenovo issue or Windows 10 issue. Please kindly advise what action I should take. It's really disappointing to see a new laptop being like this. ):

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi community, I've got Lenovo 710S Plus recently. I read about erratic fan control and I don't know if the problem has been solved, that's it? Unless fixed, I found and issue about BIOS version, explain it: BIOS v2.52 release date: 2017-6-22BIOS v2.03 release date: 2017-6-29 That's erratic versioning name? What's the latest?~~~ [Developers only]Now, about fan control issue, I think is provocated by bad BIOS configuration because this can be fixed overriding registers in charge of fan speed and processor temperature management. Somebody has source code in order to fix it? Thanks and forgive my English level.

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased brand new Lenovo IdeaPad 710S-13IKB. It had Windows preinstalled. The problem is that there is no sound from the speakers, headset works fine. I have tried everything, even reinstalling Windows. Downloaded both drivers via Realtek, Lenovo official website, via Windows Device Manager. When something plays, the speakers indicator shows as on 'sound' screenshot attached. I am really lost here, can anyone please give soem advise. I read on some forums that there might be some conflict between Microsoft and Realtek driver versions. Perhaps, the directory to where the drivers are isntalled is not proper. Does anyone has any advice on this issue. I am ready for a remote session via TeamViewer or Supremo if possible as well. Best Regards, Dmitri

Hi Everyone, Hello Lenovo, I bought this laptop recently, and I was satisfied so far until i decided to play a game. I bought this one because it has a discrete graphics for a lightweight gaming. But after about 10 mins of playing any kind of 3D game (Dota, CSGO, CoH, even Telltale games) fps drops start to occur - graphics settings in the game doesnt matter (low vs high - hd vs fhd .. still the same shuttering, fps droping). After some googling and testing via gpuz i discovered that there is thermal cap at 61-62C and if the card reaches this temp, it will start downclocking - After 10 mins of playing, GPU clocked itself at somewhere around 650Mhz (default clocks are around 950MHz), reason of throttle: thermal - via gpuZ. I tried using a cooling pad, but it doesnt seem to help much. Via Nvidia Inspector: there is a thermal limit set to 61C, but u cannot modify this setting, then in the other two states of a card (i think those are the states, that are triggered by the thermal limit) there are clocks set to 405MHz - neither these are modifiable, so i think, that after some more gpu usage, it would continue dropping to 405MHz.   I have tried:I have installed the newest nvidia drivers. There is no problem with power management settings (been set to max via windows power plan manager).I have also tried every power management settings in nvidia control panel (max power, adaptive etc,) - no positive results. I dont even think i got a defecti... I found that Lenovo has released BIOS that supports Linux. There some BIOS releases in Lenovo site:My current BIOS version is 3HCN14WW. According to logic it might be newer sine 14>13 and I afraid to update bios from site. How to know exactly which bios version is newer? Besides that there is "Linux only" BIOS. I need dualboot Win10/Linux. Will "Linux Only" allow me do this? How to get Linux on this machine?

TLDR: can you tell me if my chipset supports AHCI? I have Windows 10 installed on my brand-new 710S, and I want to install a linux distro (Ubuntu or Mint) as a dual boot. The problem I ran into is that when live booting Ubuntu or Mint from USB, the installer doesn't detect my SSD drive. It just says "Not enough space on this drive" referring to the USB drive. I've done a good amount of research and I think the problem is that RAID is currently enabled on my SATA controller driver, and I guess Linux doesn't play nice with RAID. Most of the advice online says that i need to go into UEFI firmware (i.e., BIOS) and switch from RAID to AHCI (and probably re-install windows, or do some other magic handwaving to avoid trouble), but my UEFI firmware menu doesn't even have an option to switch between RAID and AHCI. Digging deeper, I started to suspect that my chipset isn't able to support AHCI at all. The problem is I am having trouble determining if this is the case or not. SO MY QUESTION: how do I find out? Here is everything I know: Secure boot and fast boot are turned off. UEFI is still enabled. I am ahead of the curve on that. I have done dual boots before on other machines. - Harddrive is M.2 SSD- In the Windows Device Manager, there is no IDE ATA/ATAPI controller dropdown.- There IS a Storage Controllers dropdown, and underneath there is "Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller" and "Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller" - Windows does not provide a ... Hi, I've read about some issue with yoga 710 fan noise that was recently fixed with a BIOS update. Is there an update for ideapad 710s-13IKB on the way? The unofficial third-party fan controller software doesn't work, perhaps because this laptop has two fans. Just installing some software for example causes the i5-7200u CPU to overclock to over 3GHz  which seems unnecessary. Limiting the CPU max clock to 70% from power management settings helps but is an ugly fix because it's a constant limit. When the temperature is +40C the left side fan stays on.... +39 and below the fan seems to shut down, but doesn't happen unless I let the computer idle for a long time. The fan control seems to jump every 10 degrees. +70C and above is the highest level. Because of the over-eager turbo clock the laptop can reach +70C very quickly and go into full fan power when doing low-intensity tasks. It does this every time I power on, and it takes a minute to lower the clock and fans down to reasonable levels. I noticed the fan issue straight away when I installed the W10 anniversary update. CPU/fan issue could be linked to high hard drive activity also. Also, the Lenovo Battery Gauge doesn't appear no matter how many times I try to enable it. It just doesn't want to show up on the task bar. Is it a seperate issue or are these two related?

As stated in the subject, when I got my new laptop and went through all the updates and finally returned to it, it had caused my fingerprint sensor to no longer work. When inspected through Device Manager, it throws Error Code 31: it states that the driver is up-to-date but Windows has failed to load the driver properly. With either restarting, removing and updating drivers, or reinstalling windows, I have failed to develop a manner of fixing this. Any help would be lovely. Thanks in advance!

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

And still nothing on the screen. Any Lenovo stores are quite far away. Anyone knows what's going on?

So, yesterday the laptop was working fine hardware-wise, it was giving problems every once in a while where the computer froze for a couple seconds and the screen went black, and Firefox glitched out once, but it was fine other than that. I attributed this to graphics driver errors, and intended on reinstalling Windows soon.So fast forward to last night, I watched a movie without issues on the laptop, closed the lid and left it overnight.I take it to class this morning, I open it, and the keyboard and power light are lit up, but the screen is pitch black and won't turn on.I turn it on and off and so on, but nothing. I turn it off, and I connect it to an external monitor, and the external monitor works just fine. I've uninstalled drivers, rebooted the system, updated the BIOS and checked for missing system files to no avail, Windows does not recognize the internal monitor. What course of action should I follow?

Hello everyone,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB. I've only have the unit for about three (3) weeks and the batter is no longer able to charge when connected to the power supply that came with the unit. I checked the AC adapter to make sure that it was properly connected to PC and it was. I plugged it to different outlets and it didn't help. I bought a replacement powersupply from my local MicroCenter and still nothing. I checked the Control Panel, open up the Power Options to see if there were any settings in there but nothing to show why it wasn't chraging. Then Opened the Device Manager. Under "Batteries" I saw two items, one for the battery and another listed as "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery". I Opened each item, which will brought up the Properties window. Under the "Driver" tab looked for "Update Driver." I went through the two options and did the same process of updating drivers. I went through the driver update process for all options. Once the drivers are all up to date, I rebooted the laptop and plug it in again. Then i unninstalled "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" completely and reboot. Still the problem persists.  I even updated all the windows Updates. Then I opened Lenovo's Companion app. I updated all the drivers that need updating and nothing changed. A:Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB No longer charging

Is it not charging at all, or just stuck at around 60%.    I ask because there i an option in Energy Management to select Maximum Battery Life, or Optimized Battery Health, and if set the latter (which I believe is the default), it will only charge to about 60 percent of capacity in an attempt to prolong the life of the battery.    Setting it to Maximum battery life will allow the batter to charge to 100% and you will get a longer run time, but you may have to replace the battery sooner.     If you leave the laptop usually plugged in, then optimized batter health is the better option. Cheers,

Hi Just want to share my latest experience after reading many posts of Yoga 920-13IKB (i7-8550 / 8G / 512G / 4K screen) incompatibility with Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub. I had this new Yoga 920 laptop for about a week, replacing my previous Yoga 900 (13.3", QHD+, i7-6560U, 256G, 8G). I have been using the Dell USB-C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 3.0 Adapter (DA200) with the Yoga 900 without any problems. However, I can say with certainty that the Yoga 920 is incompatible with the Dell DA200 adapter. After reading many posts, I finally decided to purchase the Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub (4X90M60789) as a replacement. I had a local store rang Lenovo to confirm that it would work with my Yoga 920 before making the purchase. It arrived yesterday, and with two days of using and testing the connections Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub (Ethernet/HDMI/VGA/USB3.0); I can say that it works as expected. I'm not sure why Lenovo does not update their website to include the model Yoga 920 to be listed on the "Hardware Compatibility" list, as this will simply for the enduser to check - http://support.lenovo.com/docs/usb_c_travel_hub
