Q: HID-compliant touch screen- not working, unable to use touch...

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I disabled my Touch Screen driver few weeks ago. And now i wanted to enabled it but it says
"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."
It has no 'Enable' option. I've already updated the driver but nothing happened. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance and God bless! :)

The touchscreen has been working for a while now. The device manager does not show "HID-compliant touch screen." Going into "Show hidden devices" shows a faded HID-compliant touch screen hidden, with no disable function.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R touchscreen not working: HID-compliant touch screen hidden

The greyed out entry represents a device not currently connected or not functioning.
Touchscreens are probably USB devices so you might check those.  My system uses a Input.inf file as the setup for the touchscreen, but I have a different system from yours.

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

I don't know how many more ways I can google/lenovo search for a solution, so here is my final attempt. I have had this laptop for years. I have had no issue following the immediate upgrade to windows 10.Some time in 2017 (long after the windows 10 upgrade) my touch screen stopped working. This Laptop, Lenovo Yoga 3-1470, Machine Type Model 80JH000PUS , Windows 10 64x, now says there is no Pen & Touch Input for this display. Which is CRAP because I had pen and touch/touch screen for YEARS. Now. Look at the photo above. I have it set to view all hidden drivers/devices. The HID Compliant Driver is GONE. Its not disabled. I didn't uninstall and try to reboot my computer so it forced a re-installation, it is just GONE. I've reset my computer from scratch 6 times now and it solves nothing. I've tried installing some of the touch screen drivers already on the lenovo website but they fail because the "target could not be found".  Am I just out of luck from this point forward? Is there ANYTHING that can be done here??? Please. Help. Me. Still out of warrenty. Cant contatct lenovo support.

Hello.  My touch screen stopped working. I followed all directions from HP Support.  The HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver was found under Device Manager, Human Interface Devices however, would not allow me to enable.  I then uninstalled it and now I cannot find the driver listed uner HID even when I click on "show hidden devices". I have been researching to find an answer on how to reinstall the HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver but cannot find a clear answwer that I have not already tried.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

The two HID compliant touchscreen devices were not working on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga - investigation showed that they were not connected to the hardware. So, I uninstalled both devices - thinking that Windows would fix this at the next update. No dice. 1) How do I reinstall the HID compliant touchscreen devices?2) How then do I enable them so they are connected to the hardware? Thanks! -Scot

Hi friendsStep 1. The first, you need to check if your Touchscreen has been disabled or the drivers need to be installedStep 2. In Device Manager, check the Compliant Touch screen settingsStep 3. Type in Device Manager in the search box, press enterStep 4. when it appears as an option then click Device Manager. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.Step 5. Now Device manager window will appear.Step 6. Scroll down to HID and expand tree by clicking on arrow head to the left of HID. If there is a red cross next to the entry, right click on it and select the enable option.

I have two identical HP notebooks that went through the Windows 8.1 'update' to Windows 10.  Oh, how I wish I still had 8.1  :-) Anyway - one made the migration fine and on the other one, the Touch Screen quit working and hasn't worked since.  Going to Device Manager, the driver is gone unless you click to see 'hidden' in which case, it's there albeit grayed out and unusable. From what I've read on the Internet, this problem is almost chronic and lots of people have noted the same problem.  Hopefully HP and Microsoft find a solution soon and if I'd known I'd lose something like this, would have stayed with Windows 8.1. I've tried uninstalling the gray version, tried the HP assistant but didn't want to risk allowing some of the drivers to update, and a couple of other things I've seen on the net but so far, no luck.  I also tried a 3rd party driver from a thread I'd seen on the Lenovo site but it turned out not to be for Windows 10 and wouldn't run properly, have tried updating the drivers individually and manually but so far, nada.  HELP HP.  I'll pay for you to hook up to my computer and fix the problem - just show me the link and how much?  TIA

I have a yoga 700 and the  HID compliant touch screen driver is completely gone. From what I understand this is something that has been happening to people using Lenovo laptops/tablets in the last year. I'm sure the only fix is to be shown where to actually re-download the driver. I have gone into device manager and have searched though all of the possible drivers I could find manually. I'm really upset that my lenovo is no longer a touch screen, it's why I bought it to begin with. Does Lenovo actually have a driver it can give it's customers? It's been over a year and most people who have had this problem STILL have it. Please help.

First of all I was running Windows 8 everything was fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 everything was good at first. Months after doing so my touch screen started acting up. It would only work when I position the screen a certain way. So I stopped messing with it because I thought it was a wiring problem inside the computer. I would fix it later, And then sadly I upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed shortly after there was no touch screen options at all. It says there is no Pen and Touch. Today it was listed in the control panel so I started messing with it. Drivers were there all up to date. They said the Device did not migrate. It was 2 or 3 drivers listed for the touch screen and they all said the same thing. After a restart they were no longer in the device manager and no options in the control panel anymore. Please help me figure this out... Thank you.

What's the model name and complete model number of that Toshiba?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprise the complete model number)

If that Toshiba wasn't tested for and doesn't provide driver support for Windows 10, you can expect some of its devices not to work properly or not work at all.
That tends to be more of a problem with laptops than it does with desktops.

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

So I have a small 10" touch screen as a secondary screen and it is recognized and installed when I plug it in the computer. My problem is that the actual touching is severly misplaced and I can notuse the calibration tool (Tablet PC Settings in control panel) to correct this problem. It is as if the vertical and horisontal inputs of the screen has been swapped. If I touch the right side on the screen and drag my finger to the left I can see the cursor go from the top to the bottom and if I touch the top and drag down the cursor goes from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen.Installing the drivers from the manufacturer of the touch controller, http://www.eeti.com, did not help at all. It just says there are no touch controllers connected to my computer. Is there a way I can correct this problem?

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

A:Replacing Dell 15R 5537 Touch screen LCD with FHD non touch LCD

You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
the screen
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and the bezel
www.ebay.com/.../302211389965
You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

I've read through numerous posts where users report touch screen functionality not working on the 11e. Most are able to run troubleshooting or find & fix, or enable or update the driver within device manager. I've either exhausted or am unable to attempt all of the troubleshooting steps I've found thus far. The touch driver is nowhere to be found, after updating NETWORK drivers.. not sure what the heck happened there, but the touch driver is definitely gone now, and it's not just hidden. Anyone know where I can download the driver itself? I've checked Microsoft's website, which basically says to download from the manufacturer, and I don't see any touch drivers on Lenovo's webiste at all. My Notebook is out of warranty as well, and unless I'm doing something wrong, I can't seem to even contact Lenovo support without going through some third party BS which I'd be billed for anyway. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi. Did you find a solution to this "problem"? I have a problem that web-browsers recognize my laptop as a "touch device" and this is very annoying - and I have never needed the touch screen functionality on my X1!

I'm on the Driver Download page for the S400 Touch, but I have no idea which driver is for my touch screen.  There are display drivers and mouse/touchpad drivers, but neither of them say anything (at least I don't see it) about the HID touch screen.  Running Windows 7 64bit.  Any ideas?

Hi keerati,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
Select Recovery. Once in the Recovery screen Test the touchscreen by touching any of the option if it will respond.

If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).

If the touchscreen still did not work in OKR Environment, I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

Regards
Solid Cruver
