All contacts will not save as outlook contacts

Q: All contacts will not save as outlook contacts

Hi, I was hoping you could help me with something. I have lists of names and emails in excel spreadsheets and I have to upload them in to an outlook address book. So i have to make them contacts. The problem is only some will upload and save. For example there are more than 1,000 emails and only 400 will save as contacts. It gives an error message saying there was a problem saving them. I researched the problem and it says there might be an issue with the format of number 301 so it said to delete it which I did but it still does not work

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Outlook 365 on my desktop for emails , calendars and contacts
I use Icloud for Windows to sync my Calendar and Contacts from iphone to desktop or from desktop to iphone.
Was seamless until a few days ago when trying to edit a contact on Outlook it would not allow me to save it
Error message was "Your changes cannot be saved because you don't have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder. Do you want to save a copy of the item in the default
folder for the item?
I can edit the contact on iphone and it updates though to Outlook on desktop.
Calendar appointments (new and amended/edited) are seamlessly working both ways.
A new contact inputted onto Outlook icloud contact will save but if you then try to add a new number or note then get the above error message.
Please advise

Is it possible to save outlook contacts without opening the program?

My mom DLed a virus that has crippled everything, and since the computer needed to be reformatted anyway, I want to just save her files & start over.

I basically can't use any programs except folders, otherwise I get spammed with alerts & BS.

Any ideas?

A:Save contacts without opening outlook?

Unless the virus directly affected them, you should be able to copy the Outlook files containing your mom's Outlook contacts lists, e-mails, etc. to another drive without opening Outlook. The exact locations and file names used will depend on the versions of Windows and Outlook that are being used.

Hello, I have multiple issues regarding address books and contacts. I am currently trying to organize multiple address books on my Win 2000 desktop(outlook express) my laptop XP (outlook 2007) and my IPhone 3G. They are a mess because of old cell phone backups combined with address book entries. I now have multiple entries for numerous contacts etc.
After organizing all these contacts/address books I would like to import to my new Win 7 desktop (outlook 2010 beta) and retire my Win 2000 desktop. These are all stand alone computers that are not networked other than through a router to share broadband access.
I tried searching for software to help combine and organize all three of these but had no luck.
I then tried manually updating all my contacts on my laptop and Iphone but I ran into a glich of sorts. After making the changes on my Iphone and doing a ITunes sync, some of the contacts disappeared. Right now I am not sure how many, but I noticed a few of the ones I use alot are gone on both my laptop and Iphone.
I do not subscribe to or use the "mobile me" feature.
I have spent quite a bit of time searching the net without finding a solution.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
Thank You!

Hi johnbigbootie89,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Let me apologize that it took so long for someone to reply to your request - but it is now active and I think we'll be able to resolve it. In fact, I think I have just what you need.

Check out the following article: Importing contacts from Windows Contacts folder | MSOutlook.info. Make sure you use the Vista procedure. It seems the article was designed specifically for this purpose so I have high hopes it will accomplish your objective. You do not drag the contents (which is essentially copy/paste) - you use import/export instead.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

A:Outlook 2000 Contacts files, where and how to save

Search for the .wab files. This is the windows address book. It's usually in the Windows folder, but it may be best to do a search. There may be more than one. When you find them you should be able to put them on a floppy or burn to a disk if too large.

Once upgraded to XP, just replace the address book under her user name in the Documents and Settings folder. You may also need to do a search for the location.

Hi all,

I have a quick question:

I need to create a contact from a message. The way I do it is, I right-click the name and select Save as contact. This works great but it just gets saved to my default personal contacts.

What I want it to do is save to a contact folder I've created inside my default folder....is there a way to specify which contact folder it gets saved to?

Any help appreciated.

I currently have a database that tracks my contacts in numerous ways. However, the place I'm building this database for often holds events that these contacts attend. I created an events database (using a template), and then exported it to my current database. Ultimately, I would like to be able to show which contacts were scheduled to attend the event and which contacts actually attended, both in the contacts area and in the events area.

Any thoughts on how to set that up?

I think I agreed to an update of live mail a couple of nights ago. The live mail client looks COMPLETELY different, probably good (who knows), but first thing was that when I typed in a name I use frequently to send messages to (which usually just brings up the address) nothing happened, so I pressed the "to" field, which usually brings up my list of contacts where I can search and found that there are no contacts; then I tried opening contacts (from bottom left pick options) and it simply will not open.

I started receiving emails from a few friends this morning asking me if I indeed send out an email titled "Secure shopping" from my yahoo mail address recommending them to shop at a website (www).ushopcn.com I first thought it went to a few email addresses (mostly obsolete since I deliberately do not use my yahoo email much). But later in the day I received the copy of this email and I could clearly see that it did go out to a lot more email addresses than I thought and I now suspect to all of them in my yahoo address book. I sent out a short email to most who have received it apologizing profusely! (not from yahoo mail of course!). I then noticed that my address book in yahoo mail is wiped out. Strangely, the email showed up just a few times in my Sent Folder (and only showing that it went to ONE email at a time...when, from my friends' forwarded emails back to me. it was obvious that it did go to MANY at the same time!).

I have run Spybot S&D and mbam...I am clean they tell me. I have deleted most of the emails in my Yahoo Mail folders. I have not attempted to send out a new email from Yahoo Mail. Everything else appears to be functioning properly, including my Outlook mail and GMail accounts where I do most of my email stuff.

Hi, I have an issue with some computers. There is a Windows 2012 R2 Server sharing contacts to all Windows 8.1 computers. When I change the location of the "contacts" folder of every computer to the Windows Server shared contacts folder, some of them
drop the contacts folder "features" and become standard folders as shown below.

As you can see there is no "new contact" button or any other contact related folder action.

Other computers work without any issues (they hold the contacts folder "features").

I can't find a way to customize the standard folder so it becomes a contact one. Can anyoene please help me?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

Please can someone tell me how I can import contacts into the Windows Contacts folder in Windows 7?
I have tried dragging them in from Outlook 2010 and Windows Live Mail but they either go in as a .msg file or a .vcf file and are not automatically converted to the .contact format.
I even tried to export to a CSV from Outlook 2010 (which for some reason is located is under File > Open > Import!) but can see no way to import anything from the Contacts folder.
I have done this before with XP and Vista but can't work out how to do it in Windows 7 with the absence of the Windows Address Book and the fact that Windows Live Mail does not share the Contacts folder as Outlook Express did.
From within the Contacts folder the only options on the bar are Organize, Burn, New Folder (the standard ones which appear in every folder).

A:Importing Contacts into Windows 7 Contacts Folder in .contact Format?

Ok I have found a way around it but I am sure there is an easier way!
I loaded Windows XP Mode (virtual copy of XP inside Windows 7) and imported the CSV I had created into the Windows Address Book which copied my contacts into there and then saved it as a .wab file which I then transferred to the Windows 7 pc.
Clicking on the .wab file in Windows 7 imported all my contacts into the contacts folder in the .contact format.
Surely there must have been a better way to get my contacts from Outlook to my contacts folder though?

I have a need to find a Contacts/Address-book/or integrated mail application that permits the lockdown of the contacts data. Ideally, the info stashed in that Contacts application would be password-protected, encrypted, and could be written directly to a removable device location - in other words, ability to change the default destination for the store to a USB or otherwise removable "drive".

Anyone know of such, or know if there is a version of Outlook or Thunderbird or ???xyz that would have such features configurable?

thank you

A:Secure/encrypted Contacts application? Or mail w/contacts

Right out of box, Outlook has an option to set a password on each of its datafiles (which contain both mails and contacts) which is asked each time it's opened or attached to an existing installation. But I don't know if it's really encrypted or how easy is to crack those.

Another option may be to use an encryption tool like Truecrypt. It can create a virtual drive which is in fact a regular encrypted file on the disk (somewhat similar to zip files, but with a really strong encryption). The idea is to setup such a "drive", and then put the sensitive data files there. Outlook allows to locate its data files anywhere, not sure about Thunderbird.

OK, this should be simple. I did a clean install of Windows 8. Of course, before doing the clean install, I backed up all of my data including the "Contacts" folder under my user name. The clean install progressed as expected (I've done clean installs many times previously). When I copied my information back, I also copied the contents of the Contacts folder back.

Now I want to import my contacts into the new People App. I have a live ID and everything seems to be working fine, except I cannot get my contacts imported. I've gone to the contacts folder and exported the contacts as a CSV file (there are only two export options, CSV and vCard). When I go to the People App and try to "import from a file", I get an error message saying my CSV file is NOT a CSV file. Just to make sure I tried all my options, I went back and tried exporting as a vCard file and when I try to import I get an error message saying there is an internal error.

I've searched the net and, from what I can find, I seem to be doing the right thing using a CSV file, but am not getting the end result. I've even seen some info on Microsoft's site which tells me to do exactly what I've done. Obviously, I must be missing something.

Anybody done this conversion from Windows Contacts to the People App and made it work? If so, what did you do differently than I've described above.

A:Moving Contacts from Windows Contacts into People App

If it's not working by importing to the Mail App directly you could try to log into your mail account online through the browser and access People from there. On the main page there is an option to import from file and through that you have the option of CSV or Outlook. If it works there then your Mail App should just update with your contacts at next sync.

Hi. I have somewhat of a weird problem here. Some of my MSN contacts were randomly blocked/unblocked. And later, certain contacts were not "added" as a contact on web messenger (preventing me from talking to them on Hotmail's web messenger). There was also an issue where even though me and my friend had each other added, we were appearing offline to each other without being blocked. He did not see me back online until he deleted and re-added me.

It just seemed like general hectic chaos, and after logging back into windows and fixing my blocks/unblocks, I had to "add" people to my messenger on the web because they did not appear added/online on messenger on the web, even though they were added and functional on the client itself.

I know my explanation here is a little chaotic too, but that's really because I don't know WTF went on here. But I DO know for sure it is not a virus since a majority of my time is spent on Linux, and I change my password constantly (while in Linux as well.) So it is highly unlikely to be malware.

My theory is this is some server-sided glitch. I've done googling, and that seemed to be the general consensus from results like these:

I have upgraded my Computer from Vista and Windows live mail 2011 to Windows 7 and Windows live mail 2012.

Live Mail 2011 used as Contacts just the Vista Contacts.
Live Mail 2012 is having it's own Contacts which are not compatible with Windows 7 Contacts.

I found a way to import Windows 7 Contacts as Live Mail 2012 Contacts but no way to export it as .contact file again (export can be done as CSV or VCF file only).

Since I still want to synchronize my Windows 7 contacts with an old Vista Computer the Import is not a solution for me.

and where are these new Live Mail Contacts saved?

Your best plan is to access your mail account directly, the use .csv format to export / import them into WLM 2012.

This rules out posting to groups and as I am involved in several on different projects its starting to wear me out ,is there any option I can try , any suggestion would be most welcome.
