Built-in wifi stopped working on T430s in Windows ...

Q: Built-in wifi stopped working on T430s in Windows ...

I'm running a Thinkpad T430s with a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. After a few days, the wifi disconnected and won't reconnect. Wireless card is Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205. Network Settings has the wifi switched to off. Clicking it to switch to on changes nothing - it shows as on, but connections don't work, and if I close the Network Settings window and re-open, the switch is back to off. Windows 10 will not switch off of airplane mode. Clicking the mode button does nothing - the icon stays blue. Ethernet works fine. An external USB wifi dongle works fine, but I'd like to use the built-in wifi. Things I have tried:Run all updates through Windows Update.Clean reinstall Windows 10 using an install disk created from Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. Reformatted the main partition for this reinstall.Run all updates through Lenovo Companion, including a BIOS update.Reset the BIOS to factory settings.Made sure WLAN is enabled in the BIOS.Made sure that the hardware wifi switch is set to on. Switched it back and forth between on and off, to make sure what I thought was on was actually on.Replaced the wifi card with another card. Made sure that the cables are connected firmly, the card is seated and the screw replaced. Both the original and replacement cards are Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205.Rescanned for hardware changes in Device Manager. Uninstalled the wireless card. Disabled it. Enabled it. Checked for driver updates.Booted into a live Ubuntu 14.04.3 live mode from USB. Ubuntu says that the wifi is disabled by hardware switch. The command rfkill list all returns: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes What else can I do? Is this a motherboard problem? Warranty is expired on the machine.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I know some people have had problems with wifi in windows 10 and there are solutions all over the internet, but my case is a little bit different and I haven't been able to find a solution: I Upgraded my notebook (Lenovo T410) from Win7 to Win10 in october, 2015. So far, I haven't had any problems related with internet connection, but 3 days ago wifi stopped working. 1. In the taskbar, in the far right (I think it's called "tray"), the wifi symbol appears greyed out with a white X in a red circle. If I click on it, no wifi networks appear. Both flight mode and wifi are disconnected. 2. If I open Configuration->Internet->Wifi, wifi connection appears "disabled" in a "side-to-side" switch. If I click on it to enable the wifi, the switch goes back again to "disabled"!! 3. If I go to Windows key+R (Run)-> Write "ncpa.cpl"->Accept, I can see that the wifi network adapter is not connected. When I right-click it and click "connect", the configuration->Internet panel appears (so I'm basically back to point number 2) Extra information: The computer does not have a mechanical switch for wifi. Drivers for the network adapter is up-to-date. In the "device manager" everything seems alright (no alert signs). I would be really glad if you could help me with this issue! Thanks a lot

I updated my Windows 8.1 HP Pavillion e118dx computer just after purchasing it. Since the update, both my wireless and ethernet connections are labeled as "limited" and I can't access the internet. ipconfig /all returns no information. I've tried rolling back both drivers, and also tried using every version of the drivers currently on my computer. I installed the drivers from the HP website, and still I can't connect. Can anyone help or offer more troubleshooting advice?

Hi everyone,I've a T430s for more than a year now (second hand). Everything was fine until my suddently HDD died last week because of bad sector, after putting the laptop on hibernation for the night.I've bought a SSHD to replace my HDD and asked a friend who is quite good at computing to reinstall windows 7 on it. Everything works exept the wifi, the laptop is not able to catch wifi signal ... (but internet works with an ethernet cable).Installing Lenovo drivers from the support website did not fixed the issue.Any idea about how to fix it or about the source of the problem? Thanks !!

A:T430s Wifi issue after reinstalling Windows

Welcome to the forum!
The site has three different drivers, is your friend sure she/he installed the correct one? I guess you're using a 64bits Win7, right?
Eventually ask her/him to check the device-id of the wifi card from the Device Manager.
Kind Regards

Hi, I am looking for help. I have a HP Elitebook 8440p that I recently upgraded to windows 10.  I also did a bios update from F50 to F60. All hardware drivers are found and installed. There are no errors in the hardware management window and everything is peachy. Today however, I discovered that my wifi isn't working. The wifi button seems to work, the little light goes from orange to blue and then my blue-tooth is working fine (I connected with my phone in a jiffy).  If I go to my network center and click the adapters, the wifi tile has a red cross and is not connected. When I click to connect, it sends me to the windows 10 network GUI with the wifi button. I tried to turn it on but it will not. It stubbornly refuses to turn on. The adapter in question is a Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, I uninstalled it, en grabbed the latest driver from the Intel support site. But nothing changed. I tried to bridge the network adapter, and I tried to let windows10 do a troubleshooting run, and windows keeps insisting I should "turn on the wifi button" on the laptop, but it's already turned on, and blue, and the blue-tooth works. Since the laptop says all drivers are fine, and the wifi led on the keyboard works as advertised, I am kinda stumped why it refuses to work. Do I need some kind of driver for the wifi button? Any advice is welcome, thanks for your time. Transjuicer.

Have you tried installing the correct webcam driver from Gateway?
It may be newer than the one which is currently installed and may fix the problem:

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite P855-S5200 laptop (just over a month ago) that runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have used the webcam frequently for Skype and recording videos. Today when I tried making a video call, I got an error message from Skype that no camera was detected. I checked in Device Manager and the camera was not listed there. I've tried doing a system restore back to when I know the camera was working. That did not work. What could have caused this problem? What can I do to resolve it?

Sounds like your web cam went bad. If you have already tried a system restore point. I doubt downloading drivers would solve the problem. Your best bet would be to have it service. You are still under warranty.

I have an advent roma 3000 laptop with built in webcam. I've only had in about 2 months, refirbed from PC World.

Anyway, the web cam has worked fine this whole time on things like MSN and Skype, I didnt have to install it; it took care of everything during the set up process.

Today it stopped working It allows to start a video call on MSN but it is just black. When I run the Youcam software (that came with it), it says video detected but again just black. I thought it could be because the 30 day trial of this ran out? (I dont use the software itself because I only use cam on MSN). I uninstalled that and tried both yawcam and VLC media as people advised these would help.. no job. I reinstalled the YouCam software it worked for a few minutes but then nothing.

When i video call on MSN, the light on the webcam comes on as if it is sending and people on the other end can hear my sound, but no picture!

Built in mic stopped working after I restored windows. The settings say that the drivers are working - but they don?t. I ran the Microsoft hardware 'devices not working program' - It achieved nothing. I know it is a software error as the machine is 'dual boot' and the same internal mic works fine on Linux. Also windows captures sound when I attach an external USB mic too (headset or other external mic). It's annoying because we can't now do more than one person on a Skype, except on Linux, and sometimes I have to use windows due to work software that won't work on Linux.
Hope someone can help. Thanks in anticipation.

A:Built in mic stopped working (not a hardware issue)

You state "after restoring Windows". System Restore or reinstall of Windows? And if the latter did you recover from a partition or recovery disks or Windows DVD? If the latter as I suspect, did you reinstall motherboard drivers starting with the chipset driver then video and soundcard drivers?

hello, I am in need of some support with my micrphone. My laptop model is dv7-3028ca running on Windows 7 x86.
My mic was working fine ever since I had the laptop (2years now) and today it just stopped working. Yesterday aroudn 10 it was working fine than 1-2 hours later it just stopped working. No, my mic is not on mute.

I have tried
-Uninstalling & reinstalling my sound device already.
-Updated my device to the latest still no luck.
-My sound / recording device is set as External (default communication device) and Integrated (default device). They are both enabled.
-System restore although that did nothing at all.
-YES, I HAVE GOOGLED and LOOKED UP OVER 15+ topics they all say to just reinstall / go to device manager check your sound if its on mute / volume is low.
-Troubleshooted, it told me to set everything as default and so I did, and nothing.
Please if you have any idea it would be really great if you can help me.
-Could my mic be fried or something along the lines?

P.S please don't reply with buy a mic to solve your problem, I really would like to fix this / use my built in mic, so your help is appreciated,

Dear Forum,

the inbuilt mic of my Sat Pro T130 15F stopped working all at once a couple of days ago.

It does pick up Static white noise.
But it only reacts to knocking on the spot where it is located next to the built in webcam. It doesn't pick up normal voice nor screaming at it...

Cannot make up any change to Software which could have influenced.

What I've done so far: Deleted Drivers, installed new ones, updated all Toshiba-software and downloaded and run all the stuff suggested to this problem.
And of course it is not muted or leveled down.

Still no cure.
What's next?

Thanks alot in adavance.

A:Built in mic stopped working on my Satellite Pro T130

Hmmm? it does a static noise? Sounds a little bit like hardware related issue?
But check the mic settings in control panel -> sound -> recording tab
Here you should see two entries; internal mic and external mic port.
The internal mic should be enabled!

Furthermore the internal mic belongs to the webcam. In webcam assistant software -> settings -> audio tab you could increase the mic volume to max.
Check this?

Hello. I have recently encountered some kind of a problem with a built in microphone in my notebook. It was working just fine for a long time and today suddenly stopped when i restarted my teamspeak client. I tried basic stuff like reinstalling audio drivers, messing around with microphone/recording settings etc. To give some more insight into this specific issue:- I have windows 10- when I go into sound settings/recording tab where recording devieces should be listed there are two of them: microphone and some mix stereo (this one is turned off), both from Realtek High Definition Audio- the green volume bar near microphone icon in mentioned window is not responding to anything- when I try to start windows built in "set up microphone" feature after i pass the "detecting problems" screen and choose "configure microphone" field I get message saying "The Wizard could not start. Make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devieces and Sound Themes control panel." And then the whole process is being aborted.- I tried restoring system to one of saved restore points but apparently I can't do it as after computer restart I get the message which tells me the process failed because system could not have accessed some file (it says antivirus may be blocking it) Any tips on this subject are welcome.

Windows xp sp2, logitec webcam c250.

Installed according to directions on logitec (ran CD, connected hardware when prompted). Worked fine. Can see self in the logitec video screen, take pics, etc.
Chose not to use the headseat that came with the webcam as it had a mic built in to the camera and I only had one place to connect the head set would have pre-empted my speakers.

Downloaded and installed skype and ran through their series of video and voice tests. All was fine. Placed several calls...good. Also installed LogMeIn free version so I could support this set up after I left home for a business trip as my Mom is not all that savvy.

Two days after I got it all working, the Mic no longer works. When I run the test in Skype with the echo service, I can hear the recording, but it shows at the top the mic volume is too low and sure enough, it does not play back the messages I leave for the test.

I have found a post on here (several in fact) about checking certain skype settings and will do that when I get home tonight. Meanwhile I had my Mom move the camera from the USB port to another one thinking it was maybe a port gone bad. No such luck.

I also wondered if it could be caused by the install of logmein? It doesn't work whether I'm remoted in or not so it's not the amount of traffic causing the issue, it would almost be like some kind of interupt conflict but a) I thought that was pretty much a thing of the past and b) I wouldn't e... In 2011, my daughter aquired an HP Probook 6555b in connection with a college class she was taking. The computer came with Windows 7 preinstalled. The college uninstalled Windows 7 and installed XP so the computers would be compatable with their class programs. Now that she has finished her classes, we/I reinstalled Windows 7 using the disks that came with the computer. Everything works fine except for the wifi. I used the Driver Recovery Disk to install/reinstall the Ethernet driver to no avail. I am able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable. Prior to upgrading to Windows 7 the wifi worked just fine. Divice Manager says the Marvell Yukom 88E8059 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller is working properly.
I downloaded AVG free anti-virus and ran a scan, 3 threats were detected (adware) and removed. When I upgraded to Windows a file named 'Windows.old' was placed on Local Disk C. That is where the threats were located.

Okay, so I had no problem with the wi-fi up until today. Yesterday all was fine and today I turned my laptop on and wifi was not working. Connecting to my home network is not possible, it comes up "unable to connect to this network". I have read up online and tried to delete/reinstall and update drivers, tried to delete and reinstall wireless router, tried to renew ip. This is where the problem comes in. As I try to renew or config ip, it comes up with "media disconnected" for all wireless, ethernet and bluetooth sections. No action can be performed when media is disconnected. I would try and forget my network, but there are no remembered networks on my sistem. Really need help. Thank you in advance.

This issue started recently, after months of it working fine. The internet just would randomly stop working. I would use the troubleshooting function, it would go through the process and connect to our network, but then when I tried to go to a website, it would say there was no internet. Eventually I was able to get an old Netgear USB Adapter to work. I have tried changing the power settings, removing the drivers in the device manager, and I have the latest wifi driver. I have read many of the help posts on other Yoga wifi issues. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? Thanks for the help!

Hi and welcome to TSF!!!

Please check the device manager to see if the wireless device is still installed; make sure you do not have anything with an !, ?, or a red X next to it.

Check to see if your wireless service is running:
Click on START
Click on RUN
Click on OK
Locate the "Wireless Zero Configuration" service
Double click on it
Make sure it is set to START TYPE: Automatic
If the service is not running, please click on START to start the service.

I configure my WIFI with the Windows software in XP SP3.
I can connect to the router with other devices in the house.
I can get internet if I plug an Ethernet cable into the router.
I have tried hitting repair.
I have tried rebooting the computer and router.
I have tried deleting the connection and replacing it.
I have looked in the device manager to make sure there are no warnings.
I have verified that the HP software has the WIFI card on.
I have logged into the router and verified that the passwords match.
I have reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults with: netsh int ip reset reset.log
I have reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults with: netsh winsock reset catalog and then rebooted.

When I try to connect it says "Waiting for the network." then it times out. I am sure that in setting up bluetooth tethering I corrupted something but I can't find anything that has changed. What can I try next?

Wifi has completely stopped working. Cannot find any routers. All other devices in the house work fine. Laptop wifi started being intermittent a few weeks back, running diagnostics at the time seemed to fix it. Now completely broken. I have already tried the uninstall driver and reinstall but that hasn't changed anything. Please help

I have Brother wifi printer that I installed in win8.1 about a year back and it has been working fine. In the Devices and Printers in Control Panel, it shows as OK, as default, but not ready. And, sure enough, it does not print to it.

I tried everything I could think of to make it print as another win8.1 and also a win7-pro laptop both print just fine, even my main Linux laptop prints OK.

I decided to delete the printer and re-add it. I started the process and it scanned for a few seconds, found the printer and displayed it in the "Found" box. At that point, I was called away so I clicked "Cancel." figuring I can get back to it later.

Now no matter what I try, it will not "find" the printer again with the "Add Printer.".

Has win8.1 taken my "cancel" and assumed I meant forget it forever or what?

Any suggestions on how to get it to "find" the printer again?

Hi Guys!
I have the free version of cyberghost and I was trying to connect to a server. Because i had a free account, i have to wait until there are spots left. while it was in that stage i tried to close it. there was no close button on it so i shut it down using task manager. it was around that time when the internet stopped working .
It still showed that i was connected to the WiFi network, and it also shows that i have internet access from it. I went onto another computer and tried to access the internet, it worked just fine. I also tried connecting it through Ethernet, it still didn't work. I restarted my computer and I uninstalled the vpn drive (tap vpn).
When i try to access the internet on chrome, it says "server took too long to respond" i also ran the network diagnostics and it says no errors.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on.
Pls Help

Wifi suddenly stopped working during an application download, I have been using the computer 2 weeks... Device manager shows that there is something wrong with the unit(other computer and mobile devices still works fine on the same wireless network). BTW, it is a Intel AC 9560 wireless module. Tried restarts of computer, disable/enable, uninstall/install, update driver etc. no improvement. Reinstalled Windows 10, no improvement.I followed troubleshooting videos on Lenovo support, no improvement.Starting to look like the worst computer buy ever... Tried to submit a ticket on Lenovo support but all fields goes blank after filling in serial and model and pressing "Submit". So support ticket does not work to submit. Any known solutions for this? Anyone experienced the same issue? BR/Henrik

Good day to all of you. I just recently got a VIOS over the holidays and used it to help land me a graphics job for a promotions company. Last week I was over at a friend's house and while she was dealing with angry boyfriend I decided I'd hide out and work on some designs that are in due in a few days. I start tweaking with my most recent creation and randomly decided to see if there's a WiFi access in her place and lo and behold there is. So I get as far as Google, and she comes to let me know that she has to take me home cuz angry boyfriend wouldn't let up. I get home and my WiFi now no longer works. I don't understand.

Here's what is going on:
I turn the switch on and the green light DOES NOT TURN ON. The SmartWi Connection Utility DOES pop up saying:
Power: On
Status: Disconnected

Here's what I've tried:
EVERYTHING from resetting router, to other locations to Diagnosis, which only repeatedly tells me I need to turn on my WiFi and that there should be a switch I need to flip (gee thanks, I got that already! nice assesment of the situation!).

I don't know what's up.

I talked to a friend and he suggested that it's a common error with VIOS and that unless I have the warranty - which I'm still waiting on word about - it'll be about $60 to fix.

I googled up the issue and so far haven't seen much of anything at all about it, so I figured since I did read a couple posts on here that seemed knowledgeable, ... Read more

Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, paste a screen shot of the Network screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
