Preferred Solution: Brand new HP Pavilion Notebook why is it doing this????

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am a former tech-specialist A++ certified and the whole 9 yards - I buy a new laptop every 3-4 years.  HP's used to have a bad rep for the way they were assembled and that they ran hot. Things changed, or so I thought. My ASUS screen died recently and I had to buy something fast.  Was looking for the fasted computer w/the biggest hard-drive for under 600 dollars. Got this computer- did NOT want a tablet w/ a keyboard, swiping creates a dirty screen and I do a lot of work w/photos.  This machine constantly freezes and says - even though it has 300 gigs free - that it is using 100% of the hard drive - I've uninstalled a lot of the crap that comes with it, and even changed to a lesser version of my own antivirus to try to give it more energy. This computer is a piece of crap. I am about to launch a review-a-thon and post reviews whereever I can warning people NOT TO BUY. Oh and I checked with the place I bought it.... four weeks later and they are no longer selling it.  READ REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING!  Don't rely on specs. rely on users who have come before you!

Hello jjoakim,Welcome to the HP Forums!I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating experience. Luckily, with your notebook being so new, it is probably still covered under warranty. If there are hardware issues, your manufacturer's warranty should cover any required servicing. The specs show that you should have received a 750GB hard drive. Can you confirm this? I have included the document 'How To Access Disk Management in Windows 8 & 8.1'. As the drive is most likely partitioned, you will want to use Disk Management to assess the full size.Do you get the error message regarding the hard drive is completely full, while you are working with your photos? The reason that I do ask, is it does sound like an out of control swap file could cause this error. If there is a problem with the hard drive, use this method 'Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS' to test your hard drive. If for some reason it does come back with a failure, please let me know the exact failure code.I have also included a few standard troubleshooting documents for you to go through, to ensure all the basics have been done.'Computer Locks Up or Freezes in Windows 8''Improving System Performance without Adding Memory (Windows 8)''Windows 8 keeps slows down to 100% disk usage and hangs.'.Looking forward to working with you.

Hello Folks!!!!

My advice was NOT taken and it started being used before they called for anything.

- Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook
- WinXP MCE
- < 1Gig RAM
- 80GB Storage
- Cable Internet Connecton

1- Recovery Discs...How can I make them for this system. Would THIS work here even though it is a DELL.....http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=bph08097

2- Partitions??..I thought the Operating System should be on 1 alone. When "My Computer" is clicked, there are four line items. 1) C: Local Discs 2) D: DVD-RW 3) Shared Folders and 4) Johns Documents

3- Setting the "PageFile" to Let Windows Decide what is Best... How is this accomplished?

4- The entire Security Issue...
It came with PC-Cillin...I believe that will expire so I will have to outfit it myself..I purpose:

-Virus- AVG Free

-Spyware- WindowsDefender + AVG until it expires(Active)......Spybot, Ad-Aware,SuperAntiSpyware in their "passive" modes

-Web Protection- SpywareBlaster and Spybots Immunization feature.
I configured their IE6 as per BC guidelines. You can forget about Firefox..or even IE because they use AOL....

- Firewall- Enabled the "resident" one.....Could/should you employ another..Kerio..ect??

ANY and all recommendations are greatly appreciated....

Brand New HP notebook and there is no way to get on the internet! Ran toubleshooting on Wi-Fi and it states Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP address.  Ran same test on ethernet and it came back that the Ethernet doens't have a valid IP address.  In one area I can see that the connection to the internet has been made but the systems settings are blocking it.   This has been tested on 3 different networks with the same results.  Called support and they were absolutely no help, stated I needed to call service provider for each location I want to use the system.  This is not possible!  Need an immediate solution to fix the computer.

I am about to install a brand new LCD screen on my laptop.
Previously, my LCD screen is from Quanta QD14XL07. Can I install Samsung LTN141XD-L01 LCD? Is it the same? I need to know a.s.a.p because I've ordered it already and I only have 2 days if I am about to change my mind.

I have a digital ev500 notebook that overheats and shuts down. I searched on the internet and found a recall on some ac adapters that overheated. The one that I have is not one of the models listed but it does get hot as does the whole notebook. I have tried to load win 95 and 98 but each time I get a dll error message. I have three questions (1) is there a way to check the adapter and cord, (2) where do you think the excess heat is coming from, the cord heating up the notebook or the notebook heating the adapter and where would you check, and (3) and does any of this have anything do with the dll error messages.

Hey everyone,I just bought a new notebook a few days ago and it is running very slow, it can't handle more than a few Google Chrome tabs open at a time. Was gonna take it back to the shops for a refund but I've already installed everything on here. 'System and Compressed Memory' is holding up between 300-600mb of memory, this is 8GB however my laptop is still runnning slow. I haven't installed much software on this and there is 2TB of storage so I have no idea how it's running so slow. The CPU varies between 10-25% however the memory is 60%+ even with just Chrome open. Most bizarre. I've checked that there's not any virus scans or downloads running. I'm running dual screens so not sure if that slows things down. Can someone help me please.

Hello folks,
I registered here and this forum looks really nice and profesional and I hope that you guys can help me. So this is my problem: I have a Dell
Studio 1747, with intel i7 720-QM processor, 4GB RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon 4650. My OS is Windows 7 as 64bit version. I bought it 3 weeks ago and I'm geting a bluescreen very
often, 1-4 times per day, in all kinds of situations, it doesnt matter if I'm just listening music and actually doing nothing or if I'm surfing
or if I'm playing games which makes the hardware reach its lI'mits, its always the same bluescreen with this description:

BCP2: 0000000080050031

C:\Windows\Minidump\070210-19983-01.dmp
C:\Users\Frozenthunder\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-225218-0.sysdata.xml
This problem occured just 1 day after i bought this notebook.
I did much research and I also updated my BIOS and Graphic driver, but the problem still occurs. I was reading, that people which used some other
Windows version (Vista/XP) before never had the problem, but as soon as they installed Windows 7 as 64bit version they got this bluescreen. So
maybe it's a problem with Windows 7? Or is it the Hardware? I attached the latest dump file.

A:Bluescreen problems with brand new Notebook

Welcome to SF!

The dump does not point to anything specifically. However, I see a few potential causes of BSODs.

First, your AMD Power Monitor drivers are outdated. They should be updated or removed.
Code:
AmdTools64.sys Mon Apr 28 13:03:39 2008 (4816036B)
One thing you should understand is that 3rd party anti-virus programs are well-known for causing BSODs in Windows 7 and Vista. ZoneAlarm is very bad that way, but I have also seen some crashes caused by Avira.

As a troubleshooting step, I would recommend removing both programs. Replace them with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Avira removal tool: http://www.avira.com/en/documents/ut...ninstXPeng.zip

ZoneAlarm removal tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe

If those steps don't work, please enable driver verifier: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

I'm running a Windows 7 home premium x64 os,
on a HP pavilion dv6-6150ej LX243EA.
This is the original os that came with the computer.
Full spec. can be seen in my profile.

As posted in the title: this laptop is brand new. Just got it about two weeks ago.

I'm getting BSOD every day or two.

Steps taken so far:

1) I've updated Windows to the latest available updates (including the sp1 update).
2) I've updated my graphic driver to the latest driver available in the HP site.
3) I've installed Windows debugging tools in order to try and analyze the minidump files.
4) I've activated Windows Verifier, and set it to monitor ALL drivers. (until Windows crushed with a BSOD). Now if I try to activate the Verifier again, Windows will not load so I had to disable it altogether.
5) I've updated my bios to the latest version available in the HP site.
6) I've run memtest86+ (1 pass) with no errors.

That's all so far.
Attached here is the zip file that this forum requires: Attachment 184052

Also, here is a snapshot of data from the freeware SIW which is a system information tool:
Attachment 184056

This worries me, because it seems to me that the memory installed is not supported by this motherboard.
If this is true, how can this happen in a standard HP model?

This week I got my brand new notebook. Only after a couple days later I checked if everything is working normally. I noticed that some the of the F keys do not work as expected. For example I try to lower and increase the brightness of the screen by using F2 and F3 and nothing changes on the screen brightness. I also tried to make some key combinations on Mozilla Firefox to check if it was a software error that hindered the keys to change the brightness. But also the key combinations when include F2 or F3 on Mozilla do not produce a change. Moreover, I think I face the same problem when using F4 (not in the same point, i.e. alt + F4 do shut up open windows, but F4 by itself do not change the screen appearance as it should) and F9 and F11. Would you advise that I should reinstall the keyboard driver? Would maybe an older version of the driver be more compatible with my notebook and solve the problem? Or would you rather advise me to contact the technical support of the store I bought it? Once again, the faulty keys: F2, F3, F4, F9, F11 I would like to thank you in advance for any help provided. Kind regards, Spiros

Good evening all. We just replaced my wife's failing Apple iMac with an HP Pavilion Slimline computer. We took it out of the box today and set it up around 5 P.M. Shortly after setup, 5 crashes occurred by 10:30 P.M. Posted below is information from the crash log as well as the dump file. If someone can offer me feedback as to what the issue truly is, that would be great (based on debug, I'm fairly certain it's a hardware problem). I've always thought so highly of HP and as such, decided to purchase an HP laptop - an HP Envy 15-K233ca Notebook. I have had some issues from the start and one in particular, is making for a rather unpleasant experience. The wifi connection keeps dropping.  It drops when the system is put in sleep mode, when I surf the net and even after a reboot.   I walked through the issue (and a few others) with HP's  help desk this evening and after 2 hours was met with the same problem.  I am now having to reboot the computer and troubleshoot to try and maintain a wifi connection.  This is my first experience with an HP Laptop and I'm disappointed.  It's unfortunate, but I may have to return it.  I'll be walking over to Apple for a replacement.   If someone from HP can resolve this for once and for all, it would be helpful. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to return the unit. Note:  I've noticed that others experience the same issue.  I requested that HP's Help Desk install drivers to resolve the issue.  If this didn't work after our session this evening, then I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue.

Good Morning everyone!! I am back once again, but this time it's my new notebook with issues. Yes, my brand new notebook!! I mainly use it for my online college courses and random internet research. It recently started running very slow, and my email account was hacked. I downloaded MBAM because it is by far one of my favorites. The first scan I did yesterday, and it came up with a ton of registry key issues and such. Lots of files and folders corrupt. Not really sure why, because it is very new and a great notebook. HP is all I buy. Also, during the GMER SCAN, it kept saying 'THE PROCESS CANNOT ACCESS THE FILE BECAUSE IT IS BEING USED BY ANOTHER PROCESS.' I unchecked IAT/EAT anyway to see if that would help, but it still gave me the same warning message several times. The scan did finish though, I just don't know if it scanned correctly.
I believe you have everything you need for my first post. As I stated above, this notebook is for my online college courses. I cannot get my work done until I know it is safe and I have finals to work on.
I understand the waiting period for a reply, but if it's at all possible, someone please help ASAP!!!

I recently purchased a brand new HP notebook (HP-ay014dx) and it locks up on startup of the computer. The task manager shows 100% disk space during the times it locks-up.   Please note that this is a brand new laptop (literarlly right out of the box after a couple of restarts) not an upgrade of windows 10 from 8.1 (although I had this same problem with our last HP that we upgraded; which is why we bought the new laptop).  Before I return the laptop and swear off of HP, I wanted to see what HP recommends to fix the 100% disk issue?  Thanks -

I got a new laptop for Christmas but I didn't turn it on until January 16th, and it seems slower than a brand new laptop should be. At first it froze up while operating window's explorer and it loaded things slowly.Well I discovered I was running 2 anti-viruses at once (which is  a problem). Things improved after I disabled one of them. Then, still had issues. Updates took FOREVER... 3-4 separate sets of long updates Had an issue with my mouse moving around on the screen. I thought maybe the touch pad was too sensitive or there was something on the touch screen- but they were both fine. I restarted it, and then it was fine. The fan is blowing a little louder than I thought it was going it. My old laptop is 7 years old so I imagined that its fan should be loud. Are all laptop fans a little loud? It also feels pretty warm- even with a cooling fan underneath it. Is that normal, too? This is my first new laptop since 2011 and first computer with Windows 10 and all that- so this may just be normal? Any advice is appreciated!  It has a year warranty, so I can go through HP if it does appear to have a faulty hard drive, but I don't  want to have to do that. tx

I recently downloaded the latest Realtek HD Audio Manager and it has made my speakers hiss, I've tried every setting variation possible and I've also tried to roll back to the previous driver but it appears there is not one

I've fiddled around with the jacks but there is not much I can do, I've also tried the speakers coming straight out of my iPod and they work fine...

Any ideas would be appreciated

Hello all, I've a problem with my new HP Pavilion 15-bj000nh notebook, purchased few days ago.The wi-fi connection is too weak, if I keep the PC one meter far from router I get only 3-4 bars of 5 in the connection properties and if I go just 10 meters and a pair of rooms far I get 1-2 bars of 5 and frequent disconnections. Also the speed degrades I see, and close to the router too is not at maximum.Otherwise, my old HP 6735s notebook with Windows 7, had never problems in the same position (10 m) and keep 3-4 bars without disconnections. I verified the strength of wi-fi router with cell phone too (no problem), I already tried all the solutions suggested by the HP support assistant on PC and on the HP support site too, but without any results... I upgreaded the software of the Broadcom card (802.11n). IT helped a bit, but even with the newest software, my laptop has the connectivity problems. I cannot believe that a new NB can have a so weak connection... I have no other ideas different from an HW fault...Thanks for your help.

No wireless card will work well with only a single antenna, and a dual band (2.4 and 5 ghz) will not work at all on one antenna... An antenna lead can be added but it takes almost complete disassembly. I doubt the Service Center would do it. I wish there were something I could tell you. A usb wireless dongle is actually your best option. 15 bucks on amazon.com and you will have good reception at the cost of losing access to one usb port.

Just purchased my new Pavilion dv7, and when I run the You Cam software, it tells me my HP TrueVision HD webcam is not detected. I have tried at this for several days now, at one point when I was trying to fiddle with the You Cam settings, the webcam light turned on for aprox. 2 seconds and then went dead again, since then it won't even let me into the YouCam settings.Right now I'm becoming more and more convinced that this is due to my laptop being assembled outside the US. Need a fix for this immediately.

A:Brand new Pavilion dv7, HP TrueVision HD webcam not detected

Hi Guys, I had the same problem with a HP Pavilion dv7-6e22b. I read about a short cable on the inside of the screen.I found the following post about how the screen is connected. this was an older model but i was curious about how to remove the lid of the machine. it contains 2 screws (which I didn't have to unscrew to acces the camera) just be causious not to break the bevel. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-board-hp-pavilion-dv7-notebook/ this is a older model in the new model the webcam connector is located directy under the webcam lens itself.I pressed te connector lightly. And all ofa sudden I hear a USB connecting sound. After that my device manager showed a connected "image device" and the software worked directly. I hop this will solve your problems to. I must say reading all the posts and not finding a solution in driver or software and after seeing the connector I think it's a poor deisgn effort using such short cables and tiny connectors. good luck to all !

Problem 1:  On normal shutdown, at frequent intervals, the screen will go black but the power button stays lit until I manually intervene and hold down the power button Problem 2;  Frequently, after I have shut down computer normally (without depressing power button) when I reboot computer, the system restarts very quickly and apparently normally, but I cannot open any applications.   Problem 2, observation 1:  when I restart from this condition, the system boots up extremely slowly; however, once it has rebooted, everything works well. Problem 2, observation 2:  I have noticed that when this problem does occur it is always predicatable by looking at the start-up tray:  several icons for programs that are normally there, are missing.  When I restart and things work well, the icons are there. I have contacted HP support, and have had several conversations and chats with very nice people, but they have not been able to tell me what might be causing this or to offer any solution except two recommentdations:  Take the computer back to where I bought it and do a complete and total restore using recovery discs.  I am reluctant to do either because without knowing what is happening, I have no guarantee it won't happen after a recovery operation or with a new computer.

Hi all, I ordered 4 brand new HP Envy Notebook 13-d099nr, 2 of them are working fine, the other 2 are not. I plug them in, I press power, the laptop seems to start (power button lights up) but the screen stays black. I went through the troubleshooting, but none of the options there are working. Any help would be much appreciated as we are starting with 4 new people on Monday. Thanks

Okay, I figured it out. For any future people with the same issue, definitely try this: Shut off laptop, hold windows button + b, while holding this press the power button for 1 sec, after releasing the power button also release the windows button + b. Wait 10-60 seconds, your screen should start and follow all the steps on the screen. Cant say I'm very happy about having to go through multiple pages of troubleshooting with a brand new laptop of 700 USD, but it works in the end.

I unboxed a new HP Pavilion x360 today and it refuses to connect to either of my wifi networks. It can see the SSIDs of the networks (both 2.4 and 5 GHz) in the wifi network list, but the laptop fails to connect to any of them. I have two wireless networks (both running on Netgear equipment), both of which have been working without a problem for several years. Each network has multiple laptops and phones connected at any given time. The main wifi unit is acting as a DHCP server for the network, and the second wifi unit is simply there to extend range, so most of its features are turned off and it's just running in Wireless AP mode. Both wifi points are using WPA2-PSK [AES] for their pass phrase. To rule out any authentication issues, I tried turning off access control and set the networks to 'open' (no password), but still no luck connecting. Meanwhile, I can sucessfully connect to both networks with my phone and various other laptops (eg an older HP Pavilion and a Microsoft Surface Pro 2) Every connection attempt gives the message "Verifying and connecting ...." and after 30 seconds or so, it says "Cannot connect to this network" I even tried re-enabling WPS so I could use the "push button to connect" feature on the wifi station. As soon as I pushed the button, the laptop recognised the WPS connection attempt, but after a few seconds it failed, and gave a message saying WPS had failed and I would have to manually type in the pass phrase. I'm pre... Hi everyone.

Yesterday, I purchased a brand new HP Pavilion Sleek laptop. This morning, I turned it on for the first time, set it up, and synchronized my accounts as i was prompted. It was OK till then. I then opened up Internet explorer, went to Google chrome, and saw an option there to "add google to the desktop". upon clicking it, I found that chrome was in fact compatible with windows 8 and could be installed at once. So i installed it. Now, i started up chrome, and barely typed in my first search string before the computer BSOD-ed. It gave the following error:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
So, I went and looked that up, quite worried since the computer is brand new and was only operating for an hour before the error. No other apps or programs had been installed. No external drive of any sort had been connected. The device was not connected to a homegroup. So i searched and found a diagnostic program that yielded the following results when i scanned the minidump file.
Attachment 23129
You can see three dump files, since it has crashed three times today. The only program installed the entire day is Google Chrome, nothing else whatsoever has been changed. The problematic files shown appear to be ntoskrnl.exe and netr28x.sys. If anyone can help me, i would greatly appreciate it. I have attached a zip file from SF viewer below. Thanks!

A:Brand new day-old HP Pavilion sleek BSODs, 3 times today.

With a "day old" computer and problems, I would take it back and get a replacement.

It may just be a bad load and a complete reinstall back to the factory image will take care of it. On the other hand it may be more and there is no good reason to fight a new PC that has problems.

Hi @paddy1512 , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Pavilion x360 Notebook and getting freezing on the Touchscreen. Try performing a hard reset.  When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system. If something needs to be updated this could cause freezing. If these do not help, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link to get the support number for your region. They will be happy to assist you immediately.Thanks.

Hello everyone, Please use F11, press it straight after booting the unit. Press it several times to make sure you gain access to the recovery manager. Then, when you are there, select the Language on the first screen and then "Troubleshooting". Then select advanced options. In this menu select system restore, to return your system to a date prior to the issue started. In case you don't have any restore points, on the "Troubleshooting" menu, select "System Refresh", it reinstalls the system without deleting your personal data. In case you can boot in safe mode, try to look for a program called "SearchProtect" and if you find it, try to uninstall it. Let me know the outcome of the above suggestions. THanks,
