Can't get Edge Browser on New Hard Drive Trial Period Expired!

Q: Can't get Edge Browser on New Hard Drive Trial Period Expired!

As I had a spare copy of Win 7 (upgrade version)

I decided to configure a new Hard Drive (Which I have on swappable pull out trays)

So to make sure there were no bugs or glitches, this is what I did.

(1) Formatted the Drive

(2) Clean Install of Win XP

(3) Clean Install of Win 7 (To Upgrade XP to Win 7)

(4) Using an Iso Disk I burned I then installed a free upgrade to Win 10 (which was accepted and registered by MS)

Everything was fine except for one thing.

When I try and use MS Edge, I get a banner on the Screen which says 'This App can't open, your trial period for this App has now expired.

Visit the Windows Store to purchase the Full App

Then there is a Link to go to the Store but there is no sign of an App for MS Edge!

I don't understand what's going on here, so need some advice what to do.

I've still got Edge on this Hard Drive but not on this other New Drive.

Preferred Solution: Can't get Edge Browser on New Hard Drive Trial Period Expired!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try this that I found it may work for you as I have had no trouble at all

1. Find C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe
2. Right-click and Run as Administrator
3. Copy this line:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

4. Right-click in the Powershell window to Paste and then press Enter.
5. There is no need to restart. The fix should implement right away.

If you have previously disabled Windows Firewall or do not have it running, the above steps will result in errors. Use the steps below to enable Windows Firewall and the reverse if you wish to turn it off again afterwards.

1. Right-click the Start button -> Click Run
2. Type Services.msc and press Enter
3. Scroll down to find Windows Firewall
4. Right-click then click Properties
5. Under Startup Type dropdown -> Select Manual. Click Apply
6. In the top left portion of the Services Window, Click Start this service.
7. Now follow the steps in the first section, and it should work.

These steps worked for this guy
They have no guarantee to work for you
Also worked for the other person as well.

Dear Community,
My G: Drive has one or multiple corrupt (dirty) files on it. Normally you can trouble shoot the problem, but this isn't working.
Going more indepth to solve the problem I tried the following command: CHKNTFS /X G: in CMD (Command Prompt).

This initally seemes to work but after some time it gives the following error:
"the specified i/o operation on hs was not completed before the time-out period expired"

Then you have 3 options, to cancel, try again or continue. Either way it's not solving the problem, which is to make my G: drive workable again.
Who can help me with this? I've added some screenshots the steps and errors i'm encountering.
Thanks in advance,

Can I run the trial for office 2007 and keep my 2003 stuff loaded and running? My life's in OneNote 2003, which I have the full version of(2 copies, actually), but my trial for all the other office things *just* expired, and I've got a giant paper due in 2 weeks. Which is now read-only. I can't figure out what I need to do in Oo.o in regards to headers and formatting. Which is the main reason I'm currently in a state of panic!

Do you have to get rid of 2003 to use 2007?

Edit: I'd like to hold off on buying 2007 until after the end of the semester, because I need to turn my tablet in for some pretty crazy repairs. And I'm debating the merits of switching to vista while all that's being changed around in the meantime. So I'd like to wait on buying until after I decide if Vista's gonna work for me.

A:Office 2007 trial question (My 2003 trial just expired!)

Hi there,

I'm not sure about the trial version, but with the whole version (which I understand the trial version to be, only with a countdown limit on it) you can install over 2003 and keep both versions. The only thing you cannot do this with is Outlook (you are only allowed one of those programs/versions at a time). There are some other minor issues, but for the most part, all can run together fairly well. I have 2003 and 2007 installed on my main hdd partition.

So when your 2007 trial is up, you can uninstall it, but will need to reinstall Outlook. It would probably be better to reinstall everything anyways. You may have issues with normal.dotx or personal.xlsb, etc.

hello again...

dang this thing is a pain!!

new issue today, trying to save a tiny .rtf file to external USB drive, and get "semaphore timeout period has expired" message and have to save to local drive instead. also get the message if i drag and drop into the desired location.

perhaps related to the issue i occasionally have: the machine loses connection to the external drive and either the folder shows empty (it's not!) or doesn't show as even being connected. little blue light on the drive will sometimes go out, sometimes not, but still no access...

EDIT: i have two verbatim USB drive attached... one or the other of them will occasional disappear from This PC and when i look at device manager there is an error on that drive. i disconnect and reconnect and the drives show up and the error in device manger goes away... there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why this happens. when it does and i try to save something to the drive, that's when i get the "semaphore timeout period has expired"

i have tried to update drivers using windows search online and it always says i have the best drivers loaded....

the drives have been checked for errors and windows reports none... there is still quite a bit of available space on them (80+ gigs on each) and when they are connected and live, i can access files with no problem... it just decides to seemingly drop the drive randomly...

thanks for any help...

I have always networked them using Cat5 cables and an active hub and had a shared Internet connection on the Desktop and had no massive problems.

one day recently I plugged in the Laptop and turned it on. Not only could I not connect to the net but neither PC could access the other.

I have run the Network setup wizard on the Desktop and then on the Laptop and managed to mess with things so the ICS is now working again. But neither PC can see the other.

I get the error message:

You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found. (sometimes this part says: 'the semaphore timeout period has expired' or 'The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available')

There is only one user on each PC, ME.

I have opened command prompt and ran ipconfig and then ran 'ping'. Both PC's can ping each other with no problems but I can still not access files on each PC. I HAVE shared folders on both and they should be seen.

I maintain some software that makes a tcp socket connection to a different piece of software and sends data back and forth (pretty basic stuff there). We use boost asio to handle reading and writing of data over the socket connection. We have a client that
has deployed this software on Windows7. The client has been having issues with our software not being able to maintain a reliable socket connection. One thing I have noticed is that quite often the networking callback are receiving the error: The semaphore
timeout period has expired.

This error is not coming from anywhere in our code (or the boost code). I've done some research on it and I found a Microsoft Knowledge base article on this error for Windows XP (support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/325487). I've seen a few people ask questions about
this error on Windows7, but they're all in regards to moving files to different drives, nothing regarding network connections.

What does this error mean in regards to Windows7? Does the knowledge base article I mentioned still apply to Windows7?

Just a very quick question . If your installing a trial of Windows on your operating system how many days do you have using it, because I got a client and he wants Windows 7 home.

A:30 day Trial Period of Windows..

After Win 7 is installed you have 30 days to enter the Product Key. If he is only going to use it for 30 days and delete it, that is a lot of wasted effort to then take it off. I would hope that he knows he wants Win 7 for long term.

This is my first thread on this very informative Forum so sorry if this is a stupid question, but yesterday I installed Windows 7, and wanting to establish the best configuration for my system, I installed Windows 7 - 64bit Professional without 'Activation'. After a smooth installation, and the transferring of some of my Vista files, I shut the system down for the night. The following morning when I tried to boot the PC, I got a message stating that no System could be detected on my hard Disk. To cut a long story short, after replacing the Hard Disk, and re-installing Windows 7, I realised that my PC will only boot up if I keep the Windows 7 Installation Disk in the DVD Player. To come to my question - Does one have to insert the Windows 7 DVD to allow boot up prior to Activating Windows 7 ?

A:Running 7 during the 'Trial Period'

No.. you shouldnt need to do that... sounds like you need to do a repair install... boot from your 7DVD and select repair from the custom install menu...

My XP machine, which I haven't used much over the past year is acting oddly.

When trying to open various programs, paid versions and freeware, I get the "The Trial Has Expired" message, and am unable to open them.

This includes such programs as Ztree for Windows (paid), Mozilla Thunderbird (free browser) Highjack This (free), CDA to MP3 Converter (free), Network Magic (paid) and Nuance pdf Reader (free) to name a few.

The only thing I have done since the machine was working properly is to uninstall some programs with Revo Uninstaller.

ANY clues as to what might have caused this, and how to correct it?

I would imagine a System Restore would be in order, but before I try that, I wanted to see if someone could suggested some alternative.

In the past 2 months I've purchased an IBM Thinkpad Notebook computer for college courses starting soon along with my home computer. I installed the XP operating system from my original home computer good for the 30 day activation trial. Recently, the activation period ended on the notebook computer XP operating system and since I'm too poor (aka cheap) to install a new XP operating system on the notebook, I am stuck. It will boot me directly to logging on where I must then choose to input a new 25 digit product key.

Since I have some old operating systems such as Windows 98, 2000, and ME that I could install, I wanted to reformat a clean install and take off this trial version. Since I cannot enter the 25 digit product key for XP, I, thus, am stuck as the computer will not start up a new CD since I am at that introductory product key page.

This is super frustrating as I've pulled my hair out over this. Is there a way to reformat this computer and perhaps put the 30 day trial on again, or could I put a new 98, 2000, or ME install on this computer??? Basically, how can I reset this computer so that I am not stuck in product key limbo hell as the activation period has passed??

Thanks as all suggestions are welcome.

A:Error 0x80070079: The semaphore timeout period has expired

Hello Ady,
Thanks for your post!
This issue may be a little complex and require some steps to troubleshoot:
1.    Update the driver of wireless network adapters in both of your computers.
2.    Temporarily disable all the firewalls and anti-virus applications, then check the issue again.
3.    To exclude the factors from other services and applications, do a clean boot to check the issue and perform Step 4.(KB929135) How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vistahttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;929135
4.    With clean boot, try to apply the hotfixes contained in the following KB articles:(KB932045) Error message when you use a network connection to copy a large file from one Windows Vista-based computer to another Windows Vista-based computer: "The connection has been lost"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;932045(KB932063) Several problems occur on a Windows Vista-based computer when you work in a wireless network environment
If problem still persists after steps above, this issue is very possibly due to network devices or configurations, please let me know:
1.    Whether this problem occurs in wired network?
2.    If strengthening the network signals, the problem can be changed?
3.    What size of files will lead to this error.
4.    Does this error terminate the copy process?

My environment is: Win'7, Visual Studio 2010, C#

There is another message on these forums with almost exactly the same title. It's closed, so I couldn't post there.

I'm getting that exact same response from Win'7 in a try /catch scheme.

i.e., "...The semaphore timeout period has expired..."

I am quite confident that the serial port is really there, as he will open and will transfer data from time to time.

It's the whims of the hardware that have me so confused.

The exact same code worked perfectly last night. In fact, it has worked for weeks.

The statement which I believe is causing the error is...

Much like the other thread mentioned, the port is a BlueTooth connector, and Win'7 is reporting him okay, and so on.

I welcome responses from those with useful knowledge on this topic.

Hi my friend has an Acer computer, 2gigs of ram, that is all i know for now as there is no OS on her computer.
She had Vista Ultimate installed on her computer and recently recieved a message that the second hand computer that she bought had a pirated copy of vista and so Ms gave her a week or so to purchase a key.

Since then Vista has stopped working locking her out of her computer and consantly reboots to the window that only allows one to go on line and purchase a key.
Can i save her documents somehow?

Ms has also disabled or knocked out her video drivers on the first boot device (dvd drive) to not be bootable so that she cannot install her legit copy of XP.
How do i get her Dvd drive to work again as the first boot device and can i install her legit copy of xp for her once i get the dvd recognised by the bios?
Checked the boot sequence and the dvd is still set as her first boot device but does not seem to be recognised by her computer anymore.

I upgraded to Win 7 Pro recently and thought all activation issues were resolved then. At 2:01 AM ET today, my computer BSOD'd, rebooted, and told me my Win 7 Pro was not genuine! I rebooted again and got a black screen, for awhile with no mouse cursor. Then up popped a Windows Activation dialog. Luckily I had an internet connection so it could do that. After it got halfway through that, my desktop started to appear, sans the background. Later I right-clicked on the desktop to Personalize and found my background theme.

I thought maybe an EMP from an active volcano in Ecuador had BSOD'd my computer, or maybe the system memory heap was all used up like in Win 98SE, or maybe it was just a malicious ping from Big Brother. It was just M$ with their Genuine Advantage!

I'm activated now...until the next deactivation.

I am trying to send a VS HCI command to hard-reset a BT module and this error comes up after about 70 seconds..
The same code works on Win7 and Win8.1 but Win10 doesn't allow me to do a hard-reset by sending vendor specific HCI command.

The LogMeIn Rescue service from https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/HelpDesk/CreateTrial.aspx is a very nice browser-based application that allows you to send an invitation to an online friend that needs help. The downside is that it is expensive and only has a 14-day trial period. I just want to use the applicatin to help assist a friend from time to time, so $1,188 for 12 months service is kind of stiff... I've been going through the registry, trying to remove traces of the application, - but I'm obviously missing something. It would be great with some expertise help on this one. Enjoy

A:Logmein Rescue - Resetting The Trial Period

You could always try Uninstall Plus! It is a program that is available on a trial basis HERE. I use it regularly and like it. Not only will it start a specific program's uninstaller, but then it will search the registry for any traces of the deleted program. Of course, it may not work right as you have already uninstalled some of it. Don't know for sure, but I think it is worth a shot.Oh, and welcome to Bleeping Computer!

I have been looking for and trying to find a download free version of \jasc. animation shop 3.o5, or 3.11 version When downloading I keep getting notice that my trial period has run out and I must buy it.
I have had Jasc Animation shop free version for about 6yrs. on my other computer and it is still working on my old desktop computer, but want the same on my new laptop.
Hope some one can offer me some help, thanks.

A:Jasc Animation Shop 3.05 or 3.11 no trial period

A quick google search found many places offering the free trial of the program, however it is about $19.00 to buy. At that price its probably worth a purchase if you've used it so long.

I have a program and I used up the trial period. I thought if I would uninstall the program and re-install it then maybe the trial period would be reset so that I could use the program again. That method didn't work. Does someone know another way you could reset a trial period so that when you use the trial period up, you can use the program again???

Thank you.

The whole idea of a trial prog is that after the given time ,you either buy the prog or uninstall, yep it is possible to get it to run but i doubt you will get any help here to do so .

Microsoft Office 2007 which came with my new PC will not uninstall although it's now useless unless I shell out some bucks to MS. I also can't install the 2003 MS Office from my disk that I purchased with my previous PC. While I'm not that unhappy with MS 2007, this is not a good time for me to be spending money on things that aren't absolute necessities, and I want to still be able to use my older version for my docs.

How can I replace MS Office 2007, with MS Office 2003 from my disk on my PC?

A:How to Extend the Windows 7 RC Activation Trial Period Up to 120 Days

This is really old news.
It's been more than 120 days since the RC version was available ... And there's a newer version anyway.
It's time to purchase a legal version now ... Even though it doesn't run as fast as the RC version

There's been an update .. And I'm not sure re-arming will work now anyway.

I am definitely stuck in a jam. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended for a school project. The price tag on it is heavy, so I downloaded the trial version from Adobe. However, toward the end of the installation I am met with an error that states there was a problem loading my trial period. I have not been able to find a link to a solution, does anyone have any idea on how this might be solved. Immediate responses would help.
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition 2000
The Story: The first time that I donwloaded Photoshop CS4 was December 21. However my computer was struck with a horrible virus and my Internet was down. It took about a week to clear everything down. However, Photoshop refused to open revealing an error that my trial had expired. I removed the program and ignored the issue for a while. Then a few days back, I decided to clean my registry of the files related to Photoshop and download again. This time I was met with the current situation.

A:Solved: Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended Trial Period Error

the trial info for photoshop is not stored in the registry, not sure where CS4 has it but many adobe apps have been known to do stuff like store licensing data in the boot sector that way people cant get around the trial period by simply restoring the registry.

if you want a safe legal way of getting a full copy of photoshop, I recommend you ask your school, generally if a school has a art program, they generally have a volume license for photoshop and if you ask enough they will give you a activation number.
