Acer aspire e5 574 unable to start properly

Q: Acer aspire e5 574 unable to start properly

Yesterday I was getting a blue screen of death from Windows 10, so this morning I decided to install Linux instead. However how my laptop won't even get to a point which allows me to boot from a flash drive.
What usually happens is that the Acer logo pops up on the screen and then stays there regardless of what I hit. Other times, the screen will flash between being black on and black off; sometimes this will go to the stuck Acer screen. Very rarely, Windows will boot up "correctly" but after a while the screen will freeze and appear to have image glitches on the screen like so: http://i.imgur.com/PvJKSxQ.jpg

I believe this might be a hardware issue, but is there anything I can do to fix it?

Preferred Solution: Acer aspire e5 574 unable to start properly

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. . .

Seems like a hardware issue; not sure.

How old is this system? I would strongly suggest that you return it for another otherwise you will end up with a system for the next few years that will be a giant headache for you.

There's no reason for a new system to act like this and your sanity will end up paying the price.

Take the system back to the store you bought it at or contact Acer Support -

EDIT: The only other thing that I can suggest is to boot with your Windows 10 DVD (if one came with the system or if you burned a set per the owner's manual instructions). You'll likely have to change the BIOS firing order so that booting from the DVD is first in line.

Hi guys, I'm having an (what appears to be quite a common) issue with my sound since installing to Windows 8.1

I have an Acer Aspire V3-571G laptop, and was recently asked to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Once I did that, a pop-up has come up saying:
---------------------------------------------------------
Dolby Home Theater
Unable to start the Dolby audio driver. Please restart the computer or
reinstall the driver if the problem persists.
---------------------------------------------------------

The audio for all my media players now refuse to work, while, say, Youtube appears to work fine.

I've seen a few proposed solutions for this issue (including deleting, uninstalling and reinstalling of certain things), but most appear to be 'Lenovo' laptops. So basically I have a fear of deleting something wrong or doing some irreversible damage to my sound, since it may not be specific to my Acer Aspire.

If anyone could give me a hand with how to solve this, that would be VERY much appreciated, as I am clearly not very tech savvy.

Thanks guys and girls!

Hi,only joined a week ago,not really into computers that much, but being a bit silly, got one second hand,it does work, but I have had a few problems, the windows update didn't work, but went onto Microsoft site and sorted that, there were a few other things that needed to be looked at,but the main thing that's come upis,i wanted to get windows live up&working because I use Gmail, and for some reson when I logged on it came up page not found most of the time, however the windows live will not or cant send or receive email,no matter what is done,so I got a scan done by Microsoft & it came back with a lot of things that are not up to date,or not set right, the list is fairly long.

So in my mind I wonder if the best way to resolve thease and any other unkown problems would be to look at having the old 7 completely removed & a new windows 7 installed,as I don't really know what,or whatnot has been done on this laptop.
Any help/thoughts/ideas would be welcome.Dont buy second hand already learnt!!!!!

Hi all, I went to turn on my laptop this morning (Acer Aspire E1-572) and found I got jigger all from all attempts to do so. I'm not quite sure what has caused it to change overnight (it was working fine yesterday) but I'm really starting to worry about it. I'm not that good with technical computer things anyway, and would really rather not have to take it anywhere to be looked at as I've got a thing about handing over a computer that has access to my confidential things like emails, social media account, banking details, but equally I cannot just let the computer sit unfixed when I need access to it for college work (extremely baaaad timing for a final year degree student) and due to being busy it's been a while since I've backed up some fairly valued files like my photos and work documents, which I'm now lamenting a potential loss of.  To describe the issue, I've summarised a few of the key problems and would appreciate any help or advice as this is really concerning me now: - The laptop is plugged in and showing a single blue light when connected to the mains as per usual. (I have tried using multiple plug sockets to be certain it wasn't that, all with no success).- When pressing the on button, I get absolutely no on-screen response and get about 10 seconds of a second little blue light, before that too blinks out. The fan is not activated and there is no audible reaction to the power button being pressed (no beep/whirring) or the light changi... Read more

Hello.
Yesterday i logged on my computer and everything was normal but than a software i don?t remember installing or maybe it was part of the acer aspire one laptop that i brought, suddenly popped up and saying that i have 17 item found that were types of malware, trojan, or tracking cookie. Once in awhile later, announcement kept on popping up indicating that external hackers are trying to transfer my data to a dangerous site and they are trying to get connected to the internet to harm my laptop even more. Lots of windows started popping up intensely. I got scared and shut it down while trying to remove the software that was telling me that. I believe the software was called, ? Malware doctors?? or ?protection centre?? The software wouldn?t removed no matter how many times i tried. When i tried to turn on my laptop again?.it just stop to the point where the window xp loading screen. I try to start up in ? safe mode? , a bunch of numbers and letter started to appear and than it stopped and nothing happen after that and when i press ? last known good configuration? it just continue to the window xp loading screen again. I tried alt + f10 but it brings me to the acer recovery management and after choosing the recovery options that i want, it said it will restart my computer and it stops at the window xp loading screen again. Yeah, the same thing happens with the battery and the adapter.
Once the machine turns on it runs all fine. The only problem is with it turning on, sometimes it starts up immediatey and sometimes it takes from somewhere between 1 minute to 10 minutes.

Someone suggested to open it up and check the power switch but since I'm new to this I don't wanna risk anything.

I have been having problems with my ACER notebook booting for a while. It first started to shut down automatically at various times, leaving me unable to successfully reboot for around ten minutes after automatic shut down. When computer did eventually reboot i encountered an option screen with the various booting options. After this happened for a while i was advised to use the system recovery disks. Halfway through a full recovery the computer shut down automatically. I am now left with a completely wiped hard drive, with no operating system and it still will not allow reinstall windows. I would be very grateful if someone could help me with my problems!! I am suspicious that i may have a boot sector virus. I have no idea what to do now... is there any hope of saving my computer?

My acer aspire v5-531 4636 has no where to connect an ether net cable or even a phone line. I can't set up my new modem and router because the modem was my fathers and I need to connect it directly to reset all of that. I tried typing in my dns and resetting it that way and it did nothing. The only light besides the power light on the modem that is blinking is the one reading "DS." Is there any solution to this that doesnt involve buying something? And if i have to buy something what is it?

A:Acer Aspire V5-531 4636 has no connections for lan, unable to set up modem

You can use a wireless connection to configure a router, but you need to know what you're doing and when/why you will lose connection. If you don't know the current encryption key reset the unit to factory defaults.

A USB (assuming you have a USB port) ethernet adapter would be a useful thing for you to have, both now and later when you have wireless problems.

My Acer V3-572G laptop won't start. The orange is lit when the AC adapter is plugged in and when I press the power button the Blue LED lights up for about 7 seconds and then goes off. The fans don't start and I don't hear the hard drive spin. The screen never turns on either. I've done a power reset and I've tried not having the battery in the laptop and powering it on while it's plugged in but nothing. I have taken everything out of the ports, still nothing. Any ideas on how to fix it? Weird thing is that it has happened before. Last fall the same thing was happening so I borrowed a friend's laptop while I set mine aside to figure out what I was going to do with it. 2 weeks later I wanted to see if I could get it to boot at all and it started! It had just been sitting around without the battery and without being plugged in and it just started working again randomly until now. Any advice that could get this thing working again would be appreciated. Don't really have the funds to buy a replacement.

My new computer is working fine except for one big problem! When I turn it off, I can't get it to start again. I took it to best buy where it worked again and the tech said it was a static electricity problem and that I should unplug everything, press the start button for 45 secs to a minute and it should work again because the static electricity has been discharged. Tried it several times at home and that didn't work. The only thing that works is unplugging everything for about 8 hours and plugging it all in again. This is annoying and shouldn't be happening to a 2 month old computer! Anyone else have this problem? How can I fix this permanently and is it bad for my pc to just leave it on all the time for now? I tried chatting with an Acer tech, but I keep getting disconnected after waiting a long time. Any advice would by greatly appreciated!

Currently My Acer Aspire AX1200-B1781A will not start
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be
the cause. If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly
Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was
interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally. (Use th
arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Option 1: Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Option 2: Start windows normally

-Option 1 takes me to the Startup Repair which tells me 'Startup repair
cannot repair this computer automatically.' then they ask to send th
data then the computer just restarts & does the same thing over & over
again.
Option 2 takes me to "Starting Windows" then "Windows is loading

It is an Acer Aspire One Model NO: KAV10 and SNID: 91011971916. Hi, ALT + F10 when pressed at start up should bring up the Acer eRecovery environment.

At the Acer eRecovery screen
Choose the Recovery Actions - select Next.
Choose the Restore option.
There may be two to choose from, System Restore/Recovery - Reinstall Application/Drivers.
Choose System Restore/Recovery.

But all of your data and files will be lost and overwritten.

To try and save any needed data and files use a USB External DVD Drive - similar to one shown here.

Recently plagued with a virus that occurred when I accepted an automatic update to Adobe Reader. Booted for a while, but with issues. Spyware Doctor installed but could not resolve the problem. Hi efrain. Welcome to TSF!

Do you have your XP system CD? If so, try booting with it and select REPAIR when you get that option. That will bring you to the Recovery Console. When you get to the command window prompt, type "fixboot" and then "fixmbr" and then type "exit". Try rebooting your system and see if that works for you.

I have a recertified Acer Aspire 7551-7422. When I try to start it up I get an message across the bottom of the screen that "Setup is starting services. After a minute or so that message continues and I get an additional box that pops up that says across the top Install Windows and below in the box is the follow message which starts with a Red Circle with a white X and this message "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation". I click OK and it shuts down then starts back up with the Setup is starting services then back to the same eroor message above. Any suggestions?

Hello,

An option is to return to factory settings.

1.Restart the computer

2.When the logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.

3.When prompted with a boot screen, hit the Enter key.

4.After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.

If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails during the recovery, recovery of the operating system will need to be from Recovery Media.

1.Insert the disk labeled System CD into the computer's disk drive and restart the computer.

2.When the logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly.

3.Select either CDROM or DVD as the boot device, this may vary depending on the system.

4.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first Recovery CD.
5.After the system recovery program has loaded follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.

So I recently tried to do a factory restore on my laptop and it said it failed. I only did this due to having some DLL files missing. Now after the failed restore the laptop turned on and the Acer screen turned on and then the screen goes black and turns on again. It is stuck on a loop and I need help. I am currently running Windows 10 if that helps.

I have a Acer Aspire 1800 laptop using Windows XP Home edition. The Windows does not start and when I switch on the laptop I get a blank screen. I have Recovery CDs which are in two parts. I have tried to put the CDs but no joy. Grateful if someone could help me, please.

A:Windows XP does not start on Acer Aspire 1800

In order to use the Recovery CD's, you would need to boot directly from them.

To do this, go into your BIOS, and switch your Boot Priority to boot from the CD drive before the Hard drive.

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook here. Friend's computer. Windows will load to, I believe, windows 8 home screen. Click enter and password log-in screen appears. Enter password and spinning cursor appears on black screen. Then standard cursor appears in black screen. That's it. Ctrl-Alt-Del will slowly bring up task manager option and when I click Task Manager I get spinning cursor for several minutes then a popup saying it can't load, or something like that. Sorry I should be writing all this down as I go through it.

Removed the hard drive and put it in a USB mount to access it with my computer. It shows up but just shows Acer (G) NTFS. Double click and it says "drive not accessible- access is denied".

Ran a check disk and it ran as far as 358501 index entries processed and won't go any further.

Is there anything else I can try with this computer? I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks for any advice...

Glenn

A:Acer Aspire one Netbook will not complete start-up

Added note. Tried to start netbook in safe mode, thinking this might be malware or virus related but can't find safe mode. Power off holding power button down and it just starts up to home screen again. Pressing or holding F8 does nothing.

A friend asked me to help him with this problem: He's got a Acer Aspire X1300 with a Win 7 Professional installed which hangs up at start up.
What can you see is the Windows Logo and "Starting Windows" coming up and then a dark screen and nothing happens.
I've tryied to re-install Win 7 booting from a DVD but it just won't start (never seen something like that before). System Recovery and all other trics from Acer do not work either.
The only solution I can see is to format the partition C somehow...any ideas?

Thanks

A:Windows 7 don't start on my Acer Aspire X1300

Hello bobr, welcome to Seven Forums!

For a partition specific wipe (secure erase) of just the C: partition use Option Three of this tutorial at the link below.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

If there's nothing on the entire Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that needs saved, you can use the Windows 7 installer using diskpart to wipe the whole HDD, see this tutorial.

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

If you need to copy out the data first have a look at this third tutorial.

Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

I have 2 Acer Aspire AX1200-U1520A and they both died almost at the same time (one month apart), neither one of the machines will start, so I took the power supply to a store and they told me it was fine. How can I find out what's wrong with the compter without having to spend a fortune on diagnostics. Don't now if it is worth sending it to a place to fix it and be charged an arm and a leg and maybe be better buying a new one.

Thanks!!!!

Need input!

Do they show signs of power? Lights? Fans? anything?

Those are the low profile desktops and are plagued with failing motherboards and graphics cards.

I have an Aspire One netbook. It came preloaded with Windows XP (no Windows XP discs). When I first got it set up another partition with Ubuntu on it and used GRUB as my boot loader. However, lately I have largely been working in XP and decided I wanted to remove the Linux partitions. I read that before I remove those partitions in disc management, I should go into the recovery console and fix the MBR, using fixmbr. However as I did not have the CD I went searching for a solution. I found this:
c:\i386\WINNT32.EXE /cmdcons

and it appeared to allow me to install the recovery console. When I selected my windows installation in GRUB I now am presented with a menu. I can either boot the normal way, or use the recovery console. However when I selected the recovery console I get an error

A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart

I can still boot into windows but I cannot start the recovery console. Does anyone have an idea why this might occur?

A:Cannot start recovery console on Acer Aspire One

Go back to Widnows Xp recovery Console and type

Fixboot
Fixmbr
you did fix mbr but you forgot fix boot.

Also how did you install Ubuntu was it on a separate drive or was it on a partition?

The model is an Acer Aspire 5741 laptop. Yesterday, it froze for an extended period of time, so I shut the computer down by simply holding the power button. Now, whenever I attempt to boot my laptop, it goes through these steps:

1)Shows me a page with the ACER logo, at which point I have the option of pressing F2
2)Continues to a Windows Error Recovery page, where it gives me two options; to Launch Startup Repair(recommended) or to Start Windows Normally.
3)I instinctively chose to Launch the Startup Repair. It first goes to a page where is says "windows is loading files", and then advances to the standard windows loading page, but after about 10 seconds of the windows loading page, the screen turns black for an extended period of time.
4)If I choose the Start Windows Normally option, it goes to a Starting Windows page for approximately 90 seconds, before a blue page with code suddenly pops up for a split second, and then the computer brings me back to the Windows Error Recovery page.

I really do not know what to do. I desperately need my computer right now for school work. I am not very versed in computers, so I may not understand complex computer terms that may be used.

Any help is greatly appreciated

You can either have a failing hard drive on your hands or an over heating system or perhaps both. First lets test your hard drive by going to another computer if possible.

Download UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test. The Seagate hard drive test will work on most drives.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

Also go into bios under Hardware Monitor or PC health and look at temp readings and post here.

Then we will give the next steps depending on the results.

Also I see in your profile you have listed Windows XP. This a Windows 7/Vista portion of TSF. Can... Read more

Hi I have an Acer Aspire X3950 desktop, I am running Win7 and have tried two different wifi adapters and they install but they will not connect. It is almost as if my computer itself is blocking the adapter. I spoke to an On Networks rep for over two hours and he tried everything from reinstalling to rebooting and tried three different drivers. He was from a different country and when I told him what the troubleshooter said he would not deviate from the script they give them.... 2 hours and he was not even close. It saw the device but it wouldn't even blink. Acers website nor customer service will assist me because my warranty is expired. They want me to send the computer back but I have a feeling it is an easy fix I just don't know enough about computers to say oh just uncheckmark this box. I know in the past I used wifi but switched to an ethernet cable. I don't have the option to use an ethernet cable at this time.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A:Acer Aspire X3950 Desktop, W7 unable to connect WiFi Adapter

What firewall or security suite is, or ever was, on the system?

Install one of the adapters, make sure you have the latest driver from the adapter manufacturer's web site, and ...

What exactly happens when you try to connect?

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 8 or 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Identify your network if it is not obvious.

Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
