I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Try the following. Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69611.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69575.exe When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this... I have a Packard Bell TJ75 laptop. Over the keyboard is a variety of touch-buttons (volume up/down, mute, wlan etc). When tapping them, they respond by lighten up, or stop glowing if I tap it again/turn it off. All the buttons respond this way, except the mute-button. When tapping it, the volume-icon on the screen shows I'm muting and un-muting. But the mute-button on the computer just keeps glowing...

You guys have any idea what went wrong? As far as I can remember, it worked properly when I bought it.

My mute button works fine, but the light indicating mute on/off stopped working.  I had updated to latest "creator" version of Windows 10 (from Windows 10) which screwed up my printer drivers.  Reverted back to the latest version of 10 that I was on (before Creator's version):  everything seems to work but the light on mute key.   I have no idea if the light stopped working due to a hardware error (coincidentally at the time I upgraded and then downgraded windows 10) or whether in the software upgrade and downgrade to current OS, a software problem has caused the mute key light to stop working.  I'm currently running Windows 10, Home, version 1607

Hi, recently I bought a new keyboard with multimedia keys
Model : Microsoft Wireless keyboard 1000
All the keys are working fine, I also installed the latest drivers and Intellitype Pro to the correct OS i'm using.
However, when I press the mute/unmute button, the volume bar shows up, but does not actually mute. It seems like it flashed the mute symbol for half a second but it still just stay unmute. I tried using the default Microsoft sound driver and the latest Realtek sound driver but still no luck.
I also tried turning HID services on and off but still the same
BUT, I remember the mute button WORKING until a few days ago.

I don't know if it is due to the Windows Update, or something to do with my motherboard driver or something else. The roll back driver option is greyed out in Device Manager so I don't assume that is the problem..

I'm currently using:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000
YAMAHA speakers YST-M15 (really old model)
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 6.0.1.5859
ASUS M3A78-EM Motherboard

I'm really confused because if all the multimedia keys are working then it should not be a driver problem. If the volume up/down is working then it should not be speaker problem. It is ONLY the mute button that is not working.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Specs: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11.6" HD/Core i7-3689Y/4 GB/128 GB All is fine when the machine is on or in sleep mode. The problems start when it shuts down or goes to some deeper hibernation (whatever happens when the machine has been in sleep mode long enough). Then, the machine won't start up anymore, even if the power is connected. After some googling, we decided to try to disconnect the battery. This didn't help (and there was no BIOS update for this particular model) but while disassembling the machine we found out that when the front panel (power button + power light) motherboard connection was detached, the machine powered up. All was again fine until the machine shut down. So the machine can be jump-started by detaching the cable but either the front panel circuit or connection seems to be broken. Any ideas what to do? The following picture illustrates the issue: ?

Hi,

My Dell Studio has just crashed and wont restart. The mute and volume up buttons are flashing and the volume down button is solidly lit. I could not find the diagnostic code when searching the internet. I could find pretty much every other diagnostic code apart from this one.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks,

A:Dell Studio 1535 wont start. Blinking mute and volume up button, solid volume down button.

Hi Andy,
Welcome to Dell community!
As you have correctly pointed out, the diagnostic code that you have mentioned is not among the codes available to isolate the failure for a Studio 1535 laptop. The closest code is: blinking Mute LED and Volume up LED, and an off Volume down LED which is for USB controller initialization failure. Disconnect any external devices connected and try powering on the computer.
Reseating the memory modules too can help us. Please refer the following link for the Studio 1535 service manual for instructions: http://bit.ly/10PrLgH
If issue persists, the laptop’s motherboard has to be replaced. Refer the following link to check the computer’s warranty status: http://dell.to/10pMa86
If the computer has active warranty, please send me the service tag and registered owner’s name on the computer in a Private Message. To send me a Private Message, click my User name, and then click Start Conversation.

I have a lenovo z560 laptop. This model has a touch button called as smart noise control which has two modes mainly. One is normal mode and other is silent mode. As per user manual in normal mode the fan works at higher speed and for silent mode it works in slow speed resuting in less heat dissipiation. My laptop automatically gets shut down when i opt for normal mode and the core temperature readings are quite high i.e around 85-90 degree C. So it trips as soon it reaches 90. While I choose silent mode the temperature is around 75-80 degree C and thus it does not shut down but it works very sluggishly.   Please suggest me how to overcome this problem. What could be the solution?

Can you actually hear the fan working when switching to normal mode? does it make a louder noise than silent mode? The only way to get hotter than in slient mode is if fan is not working properly.is this laptop more than 5 years old? if so, it may need a maintenance job to replace its thermal paste and fan cleaning.
