I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion DV8000 (EU008UA#ABA) off ebay. It has an Intel Core Duo 2600T and ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card running Windows XP. The system is in great shape and has a lot of life left in it but I'm having an extremely difficult time finding drivers. I've searched everywhere but I can't find the chipset or the display drivers and was hoping someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction since HP removed the software for this laptop when they recently retired it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Brad

I've been trying to update my graphics drivers (Intel HD Graphics 4000, dated 9/26/2012), both with automatic programs like the Intel updater and manually from Intel and HP (though HP doesn?t seem to have anything newer than what I have). The drivers available from Intel are dated as recent as May 2016, but whenever I try to update or install the I get the error message "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. " Is there anyway to install a driver that has been updated in the last few years on this machine? HP obviously don't support Win8 on your machine, hence no drivers, you can check on the HP website by entering your model number. In that case you will have to identify the components from the published specs and search the manufacturers for Win8 drivers.Read other 5 answers
Hi everyone I have a HP Pavilion Dv8000 (Dv8336ea is the exact model number). I am intending to upgrade The CPU, RAM, Hard drive and OS, and have a few questions regarding upgrade limitations on this computer. It is currently running XP pro but I am intending to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 64-bit, if I can find a suitable 64-bit CPU upgrade. It currently has a T2300 Intel centrino Duo CPU, but I am unsure of which CPUs are compatible. Is there an easy way to identify compatibility? I know that it is removable but what would be a recommended upgrade for optimal performance? Is there a limit to the size of hard drive I can install? It had duel hard drives. Is there any problem with installing a 7200rpm hard drive? Is it the BIOS that limits the size of hard drive that can be installed? Finally, what would be the limit for RAM after CPU and OS upgrade. What is it that sets the RAM limitations in a computer? Help with any or all of these Q's greatly appreciated! ?????
Hi: The GeForce Go 7600 is a Windows 7 capable graphics adapter and should be able to run all the eye candy in Windows 7 and have the same resolution as you had in XP. Try the last driver nVidia released for it. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_win7_64bit_179.48_beta.html I see you have a wide screen monitor...Depending on your screen resolution, with the proper driver it should be able to be set to 1440 x 900. That should give you the view you expected. 3 GB usable memory with a 4 GB max RAM capacity is perfectly normal-even with a 64 bit OS. You need the Intel 965 chipset in order for the 64 bit OS to "see" all 4 GB of memory. You have the 945 chipset. PaulRead other 10 answers
I have had this same problem with my HP Pavilion dv8000. I purchased a 2.5" external case to pull the hard drive out and retrieve my files.... but both XP and Vista won't let me access the main folder everything is stored under... named: valued customer, message: "access denied" (even after taking ownership). the company i purchased it from is MIA ( referbished from www.saveateagle.com). I figured it was a password thing that I used in the windows prompt. I've tried the recovery CD that came with the computer, in the dos prompt input R for repair, got to the c:\windows> , "enter" for the admin password, now what? All I want is to pull my photos from traveling for the past 2 years and my itunes songs. Hello I was wondering about the compatibility for the Product name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (Product number: QC368PA#ABG) with windows 8. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ad/windows-8/instructions.html says that my model has not has drivers made for it yet, although i bought it after the required date. I am worried about system incompatibility or certain hardware not functioning properly as I had this problem when i first bought my laptop. Are there any drivers which can be supplied or provided for this computer. The hardware on the machine is: Processer: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2930QM CPU Graphics:AMD Radeon 6770M These are the only components which I am worried about compatibility although I have also heard of people having problems with the Beats Audio drivers.
Hey Evoicefire, I really wish I had better news for you but (like you mentioned) this computer doesn't have any Windows 8 drivers made available through HP for it. Only Windows 7 drivers are listed for it on the Driver Page. In many cases Windows 7 drivers will suffice although there may be slight glitches. Third parties do offer drivers that may work too. I found this forum thread where users confirm that this driver version works for the 6770M. There's a lot of good information on that forum thread. That processor should be OK with Windows 8. I'm not seeing any issues online regarding that processor and Windows 8. If you have any other questions, let me knowRead other 8 answers

Hello everyone, i am new here.
I would be most grateful if someone would take a moment to advice me on the following:
i have an hp Pavilion 8284 with 17'' wide. All works fine when resolution is 1440*900.My problem is when i try to play a game and change resolution to reduce requirements(set lower than 1440*900) cursor movement pauses for a split second every 1-2 seconds - creating a lag or choppy movement . This problem is for all games. I have downloaded the latest drivers from hp 84.54 but nothing. I have tried old drivers, newest drivers but the same. I really need your help, thanx in advance.
Welcome to TSG....
What is the operating system on this notebook?
If it is Vista you have to make sure the game is Vista ready and compatible with Vista.
my hp has a very strange problem. the pc displays a lot of colors like the ones that show on the xbox 360 when it frezees. everything works fine. when i try to play games, i cant before i could do it. and it only works if i install windows 7 it wont work on windows xp because it shows me hard disk error (blue screen). i tried to download a nvidia driver but when i reset the pc it shows me hard disk error and i have to intall windows again. what should i do?
Since this is a laptop, try testing the memory and hard drive using this info:
Laptops run hotter than desktops so there is a lot more stress on these components. The "the pc displays a lot of colors" usually means a bad LCD Panel, or motherboard. We hope it is not either of these, at this point
I have had this computer for 3 years now and the internet card has started to give me problems. It will randomly go to limited connectivity mostly when I am just browsing the internet and most of that time when I am either downloading something or streaming on youtube. The catch is that it will sometimes fix it self, but most times I have to restart my computer. It almost seems as if it can't handle the activity and is turning it self off.

Hello, I have an HP Pavilion DV8000 running Windows XP and all was working fine until recently when attempting to boot results in repeated boot sounds (like the hard drive making a physical sound over and over again, almost like the DVD drive making a sound, that I usually heard and bootup, but it makes it over and over again). The result is the screen doesn't display anything (no HP logo, no Windows logo, nothing) and the keyboard is locked, i.e. capslock won't turn on, nor can I even power off the machine, just have to unplug and let the battery run out). I'm at a little bit of a loss for where to begin and appreciate any help.My first priority is to get the data off of the hard drives, if indeed it's done and second priority would be to get it back up and running. Hi. Ive had a problem for a little while with my girlfriends laptop. HP Pavilion Notebook - 15z-p100 CTO (ENERGY STAR) AMD/AMD-Radeon graphics HD 8610g/r7 M260-Windows 8.1 64bit (previously Win10 64bit) The laptop isnt working for buisness or pleasure because none of the graphics drivers from Hp (and Ive tried them all) are working properly. We upgraded the laptop to windows 10 a while back and we learned that apparently doing that makes it so the recovery harddrive that came with it wont work. I tried factory resetting but that didnt work at all, leaving me no choice but to reinstall windows 8.1 fresh. Obviously thats not how it was shipped to me as I assume its missing crutial HP installs and such to make the switchable graphics work. Ive ordered the media to revert back to factory settings but my question is, is that even going to work? It seems like after windows 10 came out the drivers for my specific laptop, and other people that ive read about just wont work for switchable graphics. AMD and Microsoft both say to talk to HP. So that being said, here I am. What is someone to do with a crippled computer that was still fairly recently purchased when all of the video drivers wont work? Ive gone through HP assistant, ive gone through the hp website and downloaded everything individually but still with no luck. I look forward to hearing from someone.Read other answers

I have been perusing posts for hours now trying to find answers to this problem, but my computer literacy is just not up to speed and I am having trouble deciphering what would work in my situation.
Problem: Upon boot-up of laptop receiving error message of: "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl +Alt + Del to restart." When I do that, it just comes up with the same error message. This isn't so much the problem (just a little history) because I am sending it back to HP to fix the problem (this is the 3rd time it's done this!) What I am looking for is a semi-quick and inexpensive solution to recover the files off the hard drives before sending it back to HP (they will of course erase the drives). If it is even possible, given there is a disk read error.
A few viable solutions after reading the forums seem to be, networking or attaching the hard drives to a pc and recovering them that way (USB (I think) external hard drive enclosure). But, in my illiterate ways I am having a very hard time understanding exactly how to do this (I think I need step-by-step instructions). Also, since I cannot log onto the HP, it seems networking may not work out (I have 2 computers I can network with, an IBM Thinkpad and a home-built pc, both running windows XP.). Can anyone help enlighten me on the ways (and what are's and where to purchase) of a USB external hard drive enclosure and what type I would need for the HP Pavilion?
Thank you so much in advance for you... Read more

I just bought a Hp Pavilion dv8000 laptop off of Ebay for my son. The previous owner installed Windows 7 on it and the computer runs real slow. The mouse is jumpy and lags. Some of the letters on the keyboard does not work and I searched online and found out these are common issues for the computer with an upgrade to Windows 7. Big problem is that when they installed Windows 7 they did not create a backup drive so the computer only has the C: drive so I can not restore to factory default like I would like to do. Anyone of any suggestions for me?

I have an HP Pavillion Laptop dv800 and I bought it maybe over 2 years ago. But recently, it has been encountering some problems (monitor wise). It would turn on fine, all programs are fine... but the monitor would occasionally choke and twitch. and now, when I physically move the laptop monitor.. it would twitch insanely with a black choking screen with some colors in it.
What should I do? Is this solvable? or should i just get a LCD Screen Laptop replacement?
It's called an LCD display, not a monitor. Speaking of a monitor, try connecting a external monitor to the laptop

Hi, It is great to upgrade system to Windows 10, but in the same time, series of issues occur, like the USB device issue. After upgrading the system to Windows 10, you find that your USB device cannot connect to your PC. You may need to plug your external devices like MP3, pen drive, printer, etc. to your computer through the USB ports. So it is very inconvenient that the USB ports don?t work properly. Solutions below may help you fix the USB port issue. Since your USB device works properly before you upgrade the system, the problem most probably is not caused by the USB device. But you can also plug the USB device to another computer. If it unfortunately doesn?t work, you can consider replacing the device. Following are the solutions to figure out the problem. Solution 1: Check if the problem is caused by power supply issue 1. Unplug the power supply and charger plug from your PC.2. Restart your PC. Connect your USB device to the PC again. Then you can plug the power supply.Solution 2:The Power Management would also be the cause of the USB problems. Windows is set to shut down your USB controller to save power by default, sometimes it won?t be able to power it back up. So try following steps to prevent Windows from ?managing? power to your USB controller or the devices.1. Open Device Manager.2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers branch.3. Double-click the USB Root Hub device, and click the Power Management tab. (if there?... Read moreRead other 1 answers

Hi guys, Im interested in purchasing a HP Pavilion Notebook 17-ab200ni. This notebook comes with a 2TB internal SATA drive. I want to add a 128Gb SSB (form factor 2) drive, similar to what the OMEN comes with as standard. Does the Pavilion 17 support SSD drives to be added? Thanks,J

My stepson has an HP Pavilion dv1000 notebook. The power supply gets extremely hot and seems to be melting the tip to the plug where it connects to the notebook. Does this seem to be a problem with the notebook or only with the power supply. Any help would be appreciated.
wow that is pretty hot... does it always run that hot, or does it only run that hot when he's gaming, or watching a movie? could just be a demanding laptop, but then again you could take it to a PC specialist (comp usa or local computer shop) and get the powersupply checked out. dang if it's melting the tip thats pretty hot... My dad's apple powerbook gets up to 75 degrees celcius when he's just surfing the web and stuff, so hot you have to take it off your legs if you don't want to burn yourself. so get it checked out, might just be a demanding laptop.
