Lenovo T450s Intel Display Driver Issue

Q: Lenovo T450s Intel Display Driver Issue

My display driver "Intel HD Graphics 5500" has basically stopped working. When it is enabled, it makes the screen go crazy (hard to describe), and it is usable but just barely. I can disable the driver and the issue stops. So far, the only problem I've noticed with the driver disabled is that I cannot adjust the brightness, but there are probably more issues that I don't know about yet. My computer is completely up to date, with both Windows and Lenovo updates. I have deleted and reinstalled the driver multiple times (including old versions) but every time the same issue reappears. I have no idea what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I can give more information about my system/drivers if needed.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, community. My model is a 20DM000VUS, that's the one with the Intel HD 4400 and the Nvidia GeForce 840m.The display is driven by the Intel HD 4400, and I am not having any problem with that. The issue is that sometimes when I start a program using the Intel HD graphics card it either stutters a lot, freezes or stop completely. The mouse and stuff still works and I can close the program. Here is the message I recieve.I get it everytime I start a call in Skype, or run something a bit demanding... I never got this message in Windows 8, probably because it was the right driver, but I don't recall updating any Intel graphics drivers after I got to W10. The strange part, is that Intel Driver Update Utility tells me that installing their software update for this GPU won't work becuase I have a custom driver from Lenovo. Is that correct? Any ideas? Heard of any updates anywhere? Thanks in advance

Have a good day.

A:TPY 14 - Intel Graphics Display Driver issue

Hi My TPY 14 uses Intel HD 5500 and GeFroce 940M. But I install the Intel driver updates without any issues. Maybe you can try something like getting the "Intel Display Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad Yoga 14 (Type 20DM, 20DN) - 2/9/2015 - 10.18..."  as a backup. Uninstall the Intel display driver and install the ones from Intel to see if it fixes your issue.  Regards

Briefly:
I own a Compaq Presario CQ70 (Laptop) and I recently re-installed Windows.
I've used the drivers that came with this laptop, but I've noticed that in Windows Update there was an update for the intergrated graphics driver, so I've installed it.
After updating, the buttons in Firefox glitch really badly, unless I set the refresh rate to 59Hz. The problem would've been solved if it didn't RESET ITSELF to 60Hz every time I reboot the laptop. That damn thing can't seem to remember my settings.

Also, the colours on the screen seem okay, but as soon as I log in and the desktop shows, they go pale, blue looks rather gray. I've got everything set to defaults.

I am pretty sure this is a software - driver issue, as that "glitching" started just as I've updated the driver.

Should I just uninstall that update? or is there something that will allow me to keep the pretty-new-useless interface of Intel Graphics Control Panel without that ugly glitch?

A:Intel GPU Driver Display Issue (Glitch)

Hi there ... I would check the Manufactures Website to see if they have an Update for your Laptops GPU ...

As the Drivers you got on the Disc would be pretty old ..
While you are at the Manufactures Website check to see what Series of the Intel GPU is ...
Then if you can not get an Updated Driver there you could get one from the Intel Website ..
I think it may be Series 4 but could not be certain with out knowing your Exact Model Number ...

Hello,I have a T460S laptop and it is currently running Intel graphics driver 21.20.16.4534 (and no problems exist that I know of, and I use a projector and/or an external monitor with it).I am currently being offered driver version 21.20.16.4590 by Lenovo's System Update program. When I attempt to download and install the new driver, it results in a "package did not download" message. When I download the driver package from Lenovo's website and attempt to install it, I get a message that some of the files are older than the ones currently installed, do I want to overwrite the existing files, which I answer "No" to:Any Thoughts? Thanks ahead of time!

Dear Lenovo fellows, I'm facing an issue with a brand new T460s. This laptop has been set on a docking with 2 monitors in order to extend the display. Actually, on this mode, this works perfectly. Sadly, as soon as I take the laptop off the docking, or start it without the docking or an external monitor attached, the laptop screen stays black. When I start the laptop, the lenovo logo appears, the Windows boot logo shows at boot and then black screen again. I've tried the shortcuts (Windows P) to change the view but nothing occurs. The only way to make it work was to uninstall the Intel drivers and come back to Default MIcrosoft standard drivers which doesn't allow duplicate screen. I've tried to update the drivers to the latest version, including the original Intel drivers but still, not working. I've reinstall the whole O/S using the factory CD's and it's the same problem. The funniest thing is at this moment, we found a very old driver from Intel that works. But after a few reboots, Windows 10 finds a newest and install it, even if we deactivate the function to update the drivers in Windwos Update. So it's a never ending loop. The driver gets updated and the problem comes back again. Does anyone of you had such experience and have an idea on how to solve it? this is quite annoying to not be able to use a laptop. Cheers, poy

A customer brought in the their Lenovo Thinkpad 450s because their screen was failing. They already had purchased a new screen and gave me the e-mail confirmation from the order that showed that it was the correct screen that they needed. However, the new display is still black. When I hook up an external monitor, nothing but a mouse pointer shows. But I can connect to the external monitor if I power on the laptop and then immediately close the lid.The external display then shows the desktop. But then I lift the laptop lid, the laptop screen is still black. Even when I change the display settings to extend the desktop.  There was one brief occurrence with the new screen, where I saw a very faint lenovo logo appear when the splash screen loaded. But then it went completely black again. And has not done even the faint image since, it was just a fluke occurrence. And when I shine a flashlight, I still see no display. While the external monitor is displaying the desktop and I then reopen the laptop lid, the laptop screen is recognized as being there. ( Display settings, shows monitor 1 and 2 ).But the laptop screen is still black. Any thoughts? Is there a lid sensor or magnet that activates the screen? I can't find anything.

I am not sure if this is where it belongs, or if it is a Graphics Card issue. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely, causing me to do a hard shut down. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hello,

"The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functinality. The next time you reboot the machine a box will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Mirosoft."

I rebooted and got the "Windows has recovered from a serious error message" then tried to play the movie again and got the same message again.

I went into add/remove programs to see if i could repair the display driver, but I ended up removing it (not on purpose!). I decided to run drive cleaner pro, then tried to reinstall the driver (driver_vga_intel_81x_2kxp) with the disk that came with my computer, but at the end of the install i keep getting the following message:

I also tried downloading the same driver from the internet but same message occured.

The summary is that I'm having trouble getting rid of the Intel display driver that prevents Vista SP1 from installing. More details follow.

I have an inexpensive Toshiba notebook, A135-4677, purchased from Circuit City in August, with Vista Home Premium. MS Update does not offer me SP1. For a while now, it has been offering me updates for the Intel video adapter and the Atheros network adapter. I have update set to advise me rather than update automatically. The display adapter is v 7.14.10.1322. I said OK and the install ended in a blue screen. I had looked away and never got to read the blue screen before the system restarted. The system seems to have restarted OK.

I still have warranty. So, I called Toshiba. I was told these adapters are made special for Toshiba, I already have the latest drivers, and the ones MS update wants to give me are inappropriate. I wonder if this could be true. I was also advised that, if I want to get SP1, I should go for the manual download. I don't know about that either.

Then I went to the Toshiba web site, found that they are serving up an OLDER version of the driver, 7.14.10.1132, downloaded it and tried the install. It terminated with the informative message, "an unknown error has occurred - setup will end." Even though things seem fine, I did a system restore to be safe.

The question is, now what? I'm thinking I'll attempt the driver install once again in safe mode, but I don't know whether I want to... Read more

A:can't replace intel display driver

The MS Update channel for SP1 is rolling out slowly over the next month or so (source: Thurrott's Windows podcast) so if you have the bandwidth to handle it easily and want it now I'd go for the manual download.

Toshiba's video drivers for notebooks are indeed usually specific to the video adapters in them. Usually third party video drivers will have stuff in them that the Toshibsa notebook-specific video card doesn't support and things get "bluish." I'm a little bit surprised that the video update wasn't flagged before it was implemented but like I said, just a little bit surprised.

You should hopefully be alright using just the Toshiba-supplied drivers and manual download and install of SP1.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Windows 7, just bought an HP laptop two months ago and I love it. The machine came with the same Intel display driver that my old Dell had. Everything worked fine until I updated the driver with a Windows 7 'optional' update.

Now, every time I unplug my machine, the screen will flicker after about a second. I figured out that it is changing the refresh rate from 60hz to 40hz. When I plug it back in, back to 60 it goes. It's very frustrating for the screen to flash black like this, is there a way to fix it?

I've tried setting it to 60hz (In the Intel program) while it's unplugged. It changes it, then I plug in and it works like normal. But as soon as I unplug it again BOOM back to 40hz.

What am I doing wrong, and how in the world can I get it to always stay on 60hz, or even 40 if I must? It's so annoying to have to wait for the screen to flash whenever I unplug or plug it in.

I still haven't been able to find info in Win7 about what specific graphics driver I have...so I can't give specific info in that area. By the way how do I do that?

Thanks,
Uriah

Upon recieving my X1 Yoga OLED, I had an issue where every time I woke the computer from sleep or switched to tablet mode, the display would flicker black a few times and the computer would sometimes restart. I'd get a critical event, kernel event 117. A little research led me to update the display driver. It was already up to date, but reinstalling the Intel display driver fixed the issue. Soon after, I noticed that changing thecolor settings made no change to the display. I knew it worked prior to reinstalling the display driver. As advised in another thread here, I reinstalled the system interface foundation driver (again, was originally up to date), and this fixed the color settings issue. However, the original issue came back! I'd obviously rather have the display working properly, so I again reinstalled the display drivers. Sure enough, the color setting issue is back. Seems like these two drivers aren't playing well together. Any ideas on how to get around this? Thanks.

When I upgraded from Win 8.0 to Win 8.1 I lost control of brightness.  So display is always on Full 100% which hurts my eyes and burns through battery charges in less than 2 hours.   Lenovo solution was to rollback video driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 to the 8.0 version. Then I upgraded to Win 10 because Lenovo said it was compatible.   I totally lost the ability to adjust brightness again.  This time, when I tried to rollback to 8.0 video driver, I lost all screen functions and had to do a major reinstall of Windows! Here is the kicker, there appears to be no solution on the Lenovo website, but dig this, I was just told if I pay $69.00 for a software technician to take control of my machine, they can "surely fix it".  When I asked why won't they post the solution on the forums and FAQs for the Windows 10 users, the sales person (yes, more sales than tech support) repeated an endless script of my options to provide a credit card that will surely fix my problem as the software technicians are very familiar with the problem. So here is the ask:  Has anyone gained the secret knowledge that Lenovo has monetized to get their Windows 10 laptops to work right and are you willing to share it? P.S.  Lenovo Company Message Board Manager:  you may want to address this with your superiors as a serious customer relations fail.

A:Yoga 370\380 with Intel Display Driver 26.20.100.6913

This is the fix-  I've forwarded the issue to Lenovo, but I had the issue on over 10 systems. This issue is related to the Intel Graphics Driver  v 26.20.100.6951 published through Lenovo System Update. Lenovo is not hosting previous versions on their Driver Pages, and instead I found older Graphics Drivers for both the 370 and X380 respectively inside the hosted SCCM Driver Package for both models. I just pulled a 2018 package and extracted the driver.  After I obtained these drivers, I uninstalled the Intel Graphics 620 Driver from Device Manager. At this point, usually the system lists the graphics adapter as "VGA Compatible Device," it will change over to Microsoft Base Display Adapter. At this point, you can manually update the driver to the Intel Graphics 620 driver with an older version using the INI files. 1. On laptops connected to a docking station with 1 external monitor, I had no issues.2. On laptops connected ot a docking station with 2 external monitors, I found that monitors still wouldn't properly detect completely. It required me to go to the Intel Graphics Control Panel and choose the Displays manually. Driver Packages published by LenovoX380 SCCM Drivers370 SCCM Drivers Docking Station affected: 40A9 ThinkPad USB-C Dock also posted here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X380-Yoga-ThinkPad-USB-...

Rolling back the driver used to fix it, but it will now not let me roll back the driver. Can you help me? I can barely see the screen. No adjustment settings make any difference. This is definitely a driver issue.

Thank you.

Well I updated to the latest BIOS (v1.2) on my XPS 15 9550 laptop and things seemed to be going good. I was now able to get my system to sleep after the assigned time. Then I ran into the old Intel HD display driver stopped responding but has successfully recovered error. not once but 10 times, 8 in less than half a minute. I had upgraded to the latest Intel driver about a week ago so I don't know what the story is now. Most of these seem to be occurring when I am scrolling horizontally across a text file or in thos latest case across an Excel spreadsheet line. I am using an external bluetooth keyboard, not the laptop's keyboard. The Bluetooth driver I have is actually one version higher than the one listed on the Dell Support website (12.0.1.731 vs 12.0.1.730). This what was installed on my system when I received it. I don't know why Dell has not released that one.

I replied to your other post regarding the sleep issue and asked if you noticed any other problems.  I looks like you are.  You may already have the GPU driver but if not be sure to download the Intel 20.19.15.4390 A05 driver.
Even if you have tried this driver,  I suggest uninstalling both the Intel and Nvidia drivers / reboot and then reinstall them starting with the Intel and then the Nvidia driver.
I will be shooting you a friend request in case you continue to have problems. Please accept my friend request.

I?m just check if anyone else is having issues with the Yoga 370 and Docking Stations using the new Intel Display Driver 26.20.100.6913.  At my company over the last two weeks we had six laptops out of about eighty stop working with the docking stations.  After much troubleshooting we discovered we had to uninstall the latest Intel video card driver and then install an older one, 23.20.16.5018.This solved our problem. Anyone else?  Thanks

I've had this All-in-One for about a month. Every day, several times a day, the Intel HD Graphics Driver fails. The message says it recovered, but I have to close and re-open any program I was using because it doesn't come back right. As I write this, I fear it is going to happen again! I've checked for newer drivers and have found none. I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver as per instructions. This is annoying the heck out of me for a brand new system to be doing this and disrupting and even losing my work because I have to close a program to get the whole window to display. It doesn't work to just minimize a window either. All there is when it comes back are blocks of white and black where toolbars and work areas should be. I bought this at a local electronics retailer. Should I take it back or is there something that I haven't yet thought to do that will fix it? Sharonin Illinois

A:Intel HD Graphics 530 Display Driver Stops and Rec...

Hi Sharon, I feel for you but you can try this, I believe this will fix your problem. Based on my experience, this issue is usually happening on the driver version : 10.18.15.4248. Since you have already unisntalled and re-installed display driver and it didn't fix it, I do recommend for you to try using this version : 15.40.14.4352. What I've encountered is if you were to install a driver from Intel website, you'll be getting the message "The driver you install is not validated on this computer", therefore you won't be able to install this driver, unless you uninstall everything and start once you only have Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. You can try the below step instead. It will be a lot faster. Please follow these steps.? Download the driver here. Download the zipfile then decompress/extract it.? Open the extracted folder, then go to Graphics folder. It may say something like this (C:\Users\SuperUser\Downloads\win64_154012.zip\Graphics), then copy the path.? Go to device manager, right click on Intel HD Graphics 530, then select Update Driver.? Select let me pick, then go to Browse my computer for driver software.? Once you're there select have disk, then paste the path, then hit next.? It will install the Intel HD Graphics 530, without the use of the wizard.? Restart the computer.? Check back on device manager, you should have the updated driver that ends with 4352.   Let me know if issue persists.

I have a HP 6730b that I keep getting the message (after the screen goes black for a few seconds) that "Display Driver Intel Graphics Acceleraor Device for Windows Vista stopped responding and has successfully recovered".  I bought the same computer for my niece, and she has the same problem. When I checked the HP site for this model computer, I can find no drifver mentioned with this name. Also, the fact that it says Windows Vista is odd as both computers run on Windows 7 professional.  Do I dare download the HP Intel HD Graphics with Turbo Boost Technology (International) driver that appears on the HP list for this computer and install it or will that just make matters worse? Both computers are rebuilt by Metro Business Systems. I have called them for advice, but have not yet heard back. Any ideas you have would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Bill

Here is the HP driver page for Windows 7 - 64 bit for your machine.  You should be fine downloading the Intel HD Graphics with Turbo Boost Technology (International) driver.  Normally if they are not the correct drivers they will not install.  If there is one thing I really like about HP is that they make it easy to get drivers for their equipment.

Hi All, I have an almost brand new X260 with the Intel HD 520 graphics. External display connected to 'display port' initially worked okay. Now when I connect the display port, the computer initially freezes up for 30sec-1min and then nothing, doesn't detect the display, cannot extend desktop onto the display etc. Tried updating the display driver. No improvement. Any ideas? Many thanks.Al

I have downloaded new Intel VGA Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) here And when I try to install it I get this error:?I am using Lenovo Z50-70 and I downloaded this driver found on the list which I searched by using serial number of this laptop so it should definately be the VGA driver for this laptop. Also I am using clean installation of a different Windows 10, not the upgrade from Windows 8.1 which came with this laptop, but I don't think (or at least hope) that is the issue. Is there a way to fix this without manually forcing drivers to install?
