Remove requirement for Password

Q: Remove requirement for Password

I am assisting my friend who had Vista on a computer and his sod bought him a Dell with Windows 8:
1- I am unable to remove password from sign-on. There appears to be no instruction as in Win 7/Vista.
2- Picture icons when transferred show only a general icon not an icon of the pictures as in Vista.
3- My friend accidentally removed the icon for the Instructions/ for Win 8 on the Start Menu. I cannot find the file for us to revie.
4- When I try to Create a Password Reset disk, the program asks for a password reset disk disk and password to be installed? Huh.
I am not a novice. Using computers since the Apple II

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I dont want to type my password in every time I login to my computer. I have googled how to remove this and every post seems to say the same thing:
Launch command Prompttype netplwizlaunch the netplwiz appUncheck "User must enter username and password to use this computer"you will be prompted to confirm, with your current password.

However, this is not working for me! I am still prompted on startup for a password.

I do notice when I am in the "netplwiz" application that my username is in there twice. one time as an administrator and 1 time as a home user. I only seem to be able to highlight the administrator user and uncheck the box in step 4 above. I cant seem to highlight the other me.

Any thoughts?

A few days ago an on screen message said words to the effect that Windows had encountered a problem and needed to close. The system cycled through a diagnostic sequence - an attempt at repair - eventually closed down. When rebooted followed much the same sequence.

I tried using a Windows Repair Disc, which opened up several repar options, but all eventually led back to the on-screen message - Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close down.

The system was restored using an external hard drive with a copy of system image. However, when the system is booted - within seconds a box appears on screen asking for a password to be entered. When the password is entered the boot continues without a hitch and Windows 10 works as normal.

The introduction of a password could well be something that I stumbled into whilst trying to solve the initial problem - I cannot honestly recall - but I would appreciate guidance as to how to eliminate this step from the boot process.

My computer recently began requiring me to use password at startup. I had previously disabled.

I went to NETPLWIZ as suggested elsewhere (Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup)

However, there is no box to uncheck that says "Users must enter username and password to use this computer." (see attachment)

What am I missing? I have also checked the Password Requirement on Wakeup in the Power settings and that shows "No" and the "Ctrl-Alt-Del" option is also not in place.

Thanks.

Hi, I have a client who JUST about got nailed by the little b******s that push a fake virus page to you then give you a number to call etc etc.
They called me JUST as they were ALSO on the phone with the scammer, and I got them to hang up before any serious damage could be done...especially to their VISA card!
However, the little buggers managed to put a start up password in Windows BEFORE you get to the users/login screen. This is where the fortunate part comes in. The client was WATCHING AND PAYING ATTENTION! (I know! How rare is that???)
The password used was 'inbound'.
So to use the computer, all you have to do is put in the password 'inbound' and you get to the login screen.
The faker created a homegroup and a hidden homegroup admin account for himself. I got rid of the homegroup and that user, but try as I might, I can't find out where you go to get rid of that password requirement.
Any ideas?

A:Getting rid of Win7 Startup Password requirement when you know the password!

Is the password box the same as what is shown on this page. That would be a System password that can be removed by copying the System (Sam) Hive from the Regback folder of C:\Windows\System32\config\Regback.

First option is to do a System Restore . Edit: It should be SAM hive. Sorry.

Second would be to use a live linux disk to rename the System Hive in C:\Windows\System32\config\ and copy the one from Regback. This would only work if the date on the System Hive in Regback is before the problem began.

Edit: There is a file on the page but I have never downloaded it or used it. I suggest you at least scan it with Virustotal if you wish to use it to disable the password box.

Hello anyone/everyone,
Not sure if this is the correct forum but I'll try.
Some how I got tied into something that requires me to log in with a password when I restart my system after a shut down. The system starts with the logo of a saki bottle, white, ceramic "kitty" with one paw upraised and below is a block for a password. Dell denies requiring anyone to have a password to log on but, I'm stuck with the password requirement. I don't know how I got it but I would like not to have to enter a password.

If a drive is encrypted with BitLocker and you choose to not require any form of pre-boot authentication the system will simply boot and unlock when you login.

If you encrypt a computer with BitLocker and chose to set a PIN, is there any way to later retract the pre-boot PIN requirement and revert back to the scenario above without first decrypting and re-encrypting?
I've looked at the various options via manage-bde and tested a few such as:
manage-bde -protectors -delete C: -Type TPMAndPIN
Unfortunately this simply removed the simple PIN and instead requires the recovery key. Using the same command to delete the recovery key breaks the system.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Remove BitLocker PIN Requirement

Apologies for replying to an old-ish question but I believe I have a solution.
Assuming any group policy changes relating to BitLocker PINs have been reset, enter the command
manage-bde -protectors -add C: -tpm. This will reconfigure BitLocker into using just the TPM and delete the PIN as well.
If you run manage-bde -status and look under Key Protectors you should see Numerical Password (ie the recovery key) and either TPM on a system that does not use a PIN, or TPM And PIN on a system that does. If you try to remove the PIN by just removing the
TPM and PIN key protector the only means of unlocking the drive available is Numerical Password, causing you to be prompted for the recovery key at every boot. You have to specifically tell BitLocker to use just the TPM instead, it wont automatically default
to this setting.

Hi all
My daughter gave me her old Vista computer and it requires me to enter a password when booting, I have the password and can enter it no problems but I don't want to have to enter it every time I turn the computer on, I want to be able to turn it on and come back later when it's booted and ready to go the same as I have always done on my XP machines. So is there a way of removing the requirement to enter the password? I have the existing password and full admin rights so I can change anything needed to remove the password requirement.
Thanks in advance for all help received.

A:How do I change the requirement to enter the password when booting the computer?

Logon Automatically

Press WinKey+R or click on Start then Run, enter control userpasswords2 and press Enter or click OK.Check the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" checkbox then click Apply. If it's already checked, skip to step 3.Select the user you want to be automatically logged on by clicking on it.Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" checkbox then click Apply.
When you do this another window will open with the userid you selected showing (you can enter a different one if the wrong one is showing). Enter the password if there is one, leave blank otherwise. Click OK and you're done. Next boot, the userid you selected should be automatically logged on.

Or, since you don't care about passwords, just remove the password from Control Panel, User Accounts.

Is there a way I can remove this password lock, without knowing the password or logging onto the admin user, or would I have to completely wipe Windows and reinstall it?

Thank you!

A:How to remove administrator password, without knowing the password?

Offline Registry Editor

Enable the Hidden Adminstrator Account and then use it to reset the standard Administrator Account. Follow this guide. Here is a video. You don't want to reset your admin accounts password using the Offline Registry Editor if by chance the file system is encrypted.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!
If password is reset on users that have EFS encrypted files, and the system is XP or newer, all encrypted files for that user will be UNREADABLE! and cannot be recovered unless you remember the old password again If you don't know if you have encrypted files or not, you most likely don't have them. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I want to remove the user passwords from the login. I have done the safe mode startup and disabled the EUFI. I cannot login to the admin or safe mode unless i enter the user password. Which is what I am trying to remove. I have watched videos and read tutorials and all of them tell me to login and then change the password. Is there any possible way to remove this? I am talking about the main user login that has the user name with the email under it. Is there a way to remove them from pulling the hard drive and accessing it through usb as an external drive. I have been through multiple forums and all with the same thing. They all tell me to login and then change the safe mode or user settings. I want to remove the user password without loging in. PLEASE do not send me a site that shows me how to remove password after loging in or login and change the start up or settings. I already know how to do those things. Like I said I already removed admin password, but I cannot login or it does not show that user as a choice to login. Yes I am very frustrated with this. I would say no.

The 12 volt rail on your psu is 62 amps.

One evga gtx780 ti requires 42 amps on the 12 volt rail.

Full load means the gpu is at maximum usage without overclock.

What are the min requirement to install win2k on a PC?

A:Win2K Requirement

These are the minimum system requirements that are listed on Microsoft's Website.
Your computer should meet the following hardware requirements: • 133 MHz or faster Pentium-compatible CPU
• 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM minimum; more memory generally improves responsiveness (4 gigabytes [GB] RAM maximum)
• 2 GB hard disk space with a minimum of 650 MB of free space (additional free hard disk space is required if you are installing over a network) Click to expand...

Can't say I would try and run Windows 2000 that way. I would go with a minimum of 256mb of ram. And it doesn't run to fast on a Pentium 133. I have Windows 2000 running on a Pentium II 400mhz with 192mb of ram. It runs most office applications just fine. I actually run Office 2003 on it.

Hi everybody,

For the last several days, I've been doing a lot of research about whether my power supply can support my graphics card, but I can't seem to find a definate answer. What I have is a 450 watt power supply; it has one single 12v rail that provides 24 amps. My graphics card is a ATI Radeon X1950 Pro PCI-E. It requires a 450 watt power supply and recommends 30 amps on the 12v rail.

When I asked whether my PSU can support my graphics card on other forums, some people tell me it can, but others tell me it can't, so I'm really confused right now. I had my X1950 hooked up and running for 3 days without having any problem, but I took it out today, just to be safe until I can get a definate answer. Although I do notice that my power supply runs cooler without the X1950 hooked up.

But on other forums, I even heard people run this card on a 18 amp 12v rail without any problem and they even have it running on a fully loaded system with 2x HDD, 2x DVD Drive, cooling system, fans and lights. And many people say that 22 amps should be the minimum to this card and 24 amps should be fine. However, there are also people who say that you should follow the manufacturers recommendation and get a minimum 30 amps power supply.

if this isnt good enough can anyone reccomend a good PSU that would also be good for future upgrades.

Thank you.

A:x1950 Pro PSU requirement

A short answer no. ATI says a min of 450W with at least 30amp on the 12V rail for that card. It looks like you are running a prescott cpu. If that is correct, then I would go with a min of 550W and 35amp on the 12V rail.

Do not go cheap on the pw supply. Doing so can [and often does] cause ALL types of problems.

Hello My name is Mutlu,I've trouble with my computer.I can't open it now.I can't recovery either.I bought it from BestBuy. Currently I live in Turkey.Hp help desk in Turkey, they leaded to me here.I want recovery. There is no recovery support in Turkey as you know I bought it from abroad.

A:Recovery Requirement

Why can't you recover with the F11 key? Did you change the partitions or delete the recovery partition? Did you create a usb recovery flashdrive? Can you get access to a Windows 10 usb installer? If the answer is no, but you have access to another Windows PC, you can make your own. You will need it to create a usb installer that will let you use Windows system restore to roll your notebook back to before the even that caused the issue. See the tutorial on the following web page.http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-download-install-windows-10-iso/

I hope someone might be able to shed some light on these.
1. For about 2-3 weeks my computer has suddenly begun asking me to sign in to Comcast. I click on the "Keep me logged in" but it doesn't work, when I attempt to go online again, I have to sign in again.
2. For about the same length of time I get sudden bursts of music from my computer. They suddenly start playing, continue for about 5 seconds and just as suddenly quit. That seems to happen more frequently if I am moving the mouse pointer about.
I am using:
Windows 10, latest update (KB3200970 installed 11/9-2016)

My PC updated itself to a version of Windows 8 that demanded I enter new passwords, including a password to my hard disk. I don't want a password to my hard disk - it interferes when I access the machine remotely and restart it.

How do I remove the hard disk password?

Can I change the start-up user name, which I generated at a time when I was very angry with the machine and with Windows 8 in general. I wouldn't like my daughter to see it.

A:Remove HD password

Hello Cantata, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Do you mean the hard drive is encrypted with BitLocker, and is asking for the BitLocker password?

I posted about this before I have a pass number 4 figures which I have to enter every time I boot up. How can I remove this so I and anyone else who uses the pc go straight to desktop. Netplwiz does'ent work I have unchecked the box but I still have to enter 4 figure number, Is there another way. Thanks

A:remove password

Is this the PIN for windows 10. If so, you have to remove that from the settings sections under accounts and then select sign in options and then select to remove PIN.

Then if you use netplwiz "correctly" it works every time.
