I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey there,
I'm wondering if somebody can help me. I've recently aquired a wireless router for my broadband from BT. I can get my desktop up and running on the wireless network with the usb adaptor but my laptop will not connect with the wireless card. When I set up the connection to auto detect IP address and DNS the IP address keeps appearing. I don't know where this comes from because the router address is Even when I manually confirgure the settings it still wont connect. When i try to repair the connection there's a problem flushing the arp cache. The only other thing i can think of is the network key may not be entered in the right place. Its an ascii key and I've put it in the passphrase box. Any help on the issue would be greatly welcomed as I'm starting to lose it with this problem.

A:Belkin wireless card problems

to setup the wireless, the instructions usually say
hardwire the the system to the router first to setup the configuration.
The 169.254.*.* tells you that DHCP is not enabled or configured correctly.
Typical config is
set a non-default SSID
let it broadcast
for the time being, leave WPA and WEP off
enable DHCP for both the IP and DNS addressesIn the wired mode, the new system should be connecting correctly and
ipconfig /all should have a 192.168... number
In the wireless mode, you should SEE your SSID and be able to connect.

Now go back to the router and set WPA or WEP on and set your keys.

I recentely had to fix my little brother's computer and got it all done, but I didn't have the disk for the Belkin Wireless G Desktop card; My little brother had scratched that up and was no longer readable. I remember that I, once before, had to download the drivers online to get them installed, but cannot find them now.

I was wondering if anyone here could help me with this problem. I have the same card in use on my PC and it is using the BLKWGD.sys file(version

Would there be any way for me to transfer that to his computer somehow, such as burning it to a CD?

Good morning.
Could anyone throw any light on the reason behind the following behaviour.

I have just rebuilt a desktop using a Gigabyte GA-7zxe motherboard and an Athlon XP1800+ that I had spare. The motherboard has the latest drivers from Gigabyte installed. The O/S is Windows XP (SP2) installed and there are no appearent problems with it. Apart from Microsoft Word and F-Secure anti virus there are no programmes installed.

A couple of days ago I put a USB 2.0 pen drive in the USB and apart from being informed the motherboard did not support USB 2.0 and the transfer speed would be at the lower rate there was no problems. Suddenly the computer resarted and went through the POST (no problems) to the page where the account you want to access is displayed. I selected the account I wanted and the system flicked onto the Windows page and then restarted again. This happened repeatedly until I removed the pen drive and evrything was again sweetness and light.

Yesterday I installed a Belkin wireless card. The installation went fine and the card was up and running and doing a great job. I turned the PC off and when I went back to it exactly the same thing happened as the USB. Removing the Belkin card cured the problem.

I have tried the card in different PCI slots with the same result, i.e and can install it fine and works until it is rebotted or switched off. I have also tried putting 'older' PCI parts in the PCI slots, e.g. a typical V92 modem and a Promise 100TX Ultra c... Read more

so i installed a belkin wireless g card (f5d700) on my dell optiplex gx240 running windows 2000 pro back in december. This past Sunday it decided to stop working all of a sudden. I couldn't acces the internet or my local network. so i figured i would just reboot and the problem would be solved.

When i restarted i couldn't get past the windows 2000 load screen. so i powered it down and tried again and managed to get to the desktop, the mouse pointer was able to move around but i wasn't able to click on anything. ctrl+alt+del just cleared the desktop but didn't bring up that other screen that has taskmanager and allows you to shutdown.

i googled and googled and realized (i think) that its a hardware issue. So i removed the wireless card and boot up went smoothly. i did a virus scan & nothing was found, so i uninstalled and then reinstalled the belkin software again. I shutdown the computer, put the card in, restarted, boot up was fine, the installation completed successfully. i was instructed to reboot again, so i did ... and it just hung on the desktop with no icons and never shutdown. so i turned it off manually and restarted and i'm stuck on the w2k loading screen again.

Any ideas why this may be happening?
is there a way to make sure everything is uninstalled to ensure a clean install (e.g. drivers, software) ?
any advice on how to approach and resolve this problem would be appreciated.
thank you

I have a 2002 Sotec laptop, with no built in wifi. I have a belkin 802.11b network interface bus card wireless adapter (product number F5D6020) which I got to work with my familys netgear wireless router by setting it to WEP. That made the other computers in the house unable to pick up the signal, so we had to set it back to what it was, which I can't remember the name of, and my family will crucify me if I touch their computer again. Bottom line, is there any way that I can get my laptop to connect to the router? It picks up the signal, and I know the password, but it tells me that there's no signal most of the time, which there is because it's picking up the netgear router and says it on the software.

I know that's a horrible description of my problem, but any help at all would be appreciated. I'm too poor to buy a new pc right now.

Have been having connection problems with a machine with a belkin wireless g network card ,so decided to update the drivers and that solved the problem....except now though a dialog box stating that "the network key should be between 6 and 63 characters" stays on the desk top and will not close.

I am using WPA - PSK and it is between 6 and 63 characters.

Has anyone come across this or a similar problem before cause it's a new one on me.

The machine has a celeron cpu, 1gb ram running xp .

Many thanx.

Id just check that you have the latest XP updates for WPA in windows. Sometimes not having them can cause trouble.

As far as I remember the wrong ones arent flexible about the length of a WPA key, whereas the newer ones are.

I have purchased a belkin usb 2.0/firewire 6-port pci card to put into my machine so that I could then plug in a dvd player with a firewire connection. I installed the card and the driver and it seemed to be picked up ok and I plugged in an external firewire dvd player and that was picked up fine and I could work away with the new drive - however my pc won't shut down. I press shut down and it seems to be shutting down until the end and then the machine restarts and this happens all the time. When i uninstall the card the pc it shuts down ok so it is definately the card. I have emailed belkin about this but no reply and i have rang them and they said it could be a bios issue but no further info. I have tried it on another pc and the same thing happens- anybody got any ideas- please help.

A:belkin pci card not letting pc shut down.

you already know what the problem is, because it happened in more then 1 machine.

Will the machine shut down with the card installed, but no drive plugged into it? if that works, just unplug it when you want to shut down, if that doesn't work, then you have 3 options:

1. if you have a free 5.25" drive bay, take the DVD drive out of the external case and install it inside your computer(this is the best option if you have a free bay), or...

2. leave your machine on (i always leave mine on), or...

3. return that firewire card and buy another brand (not belkin)

I have a question, may be someone knows: I ran out of the USB slots, so I decided to use an add-on PCI card. I have an old Belkin USB 2.0 card, not sure whether this is exactly the model number that I found on their website, but may well be, since the card, according to Belkin is supposed towork on "Windows? 98 SE, Me, 2000, OS, or XP with USB 2.0 support".

Now, will this thing work with Windows 7 x64? Is there anyway to find a proper driver, or the system has some generic driver that would be good enough?

I could just try and plug it in of course, but thought to ask first, may be someone knows and will save me some trouble - if there is any trouble waiting for me .

Thanks in advance.

Ever since i purchased a belkin wireless network card and router. I am no longer able to play some pogo games or boxerjam. I am able to get into the rooms but i eventually get booted, the error message is saying it is because of lagging or connectivity issues is there any way i can resolve this. I contacted my isp and they said it is working fine (broadband-adelphia). i contacted belkin and they said to add pogos port to a virtual server but the pogo games werent listed in the drop down box . It is happening on both the computer where the router is connected to and the laptop with the network card. any help would be appreciated.

A:belkin wireless card lagging

You would be better off if the computer you are playing games on are wired vs wireless.

Another thought...see if you can find the info/configuration settings from the game site. The presets in the dropdown menu are preconfigured, but you should be able to manually set one up if they can provide you with the correct info.

I'm relatively new to the subject of networking, so this problem has got me stuck. I acquired this card a while ago, and used it on my Dell Inspiron 8100 notebook to access my encrypted wireless network. I have an Actiontec DSL modem with a wireless gateway GT701-WG. I was able to access the internet just fine. One day, I decided to try and access another network, and when I attempted to reconnect with my network, I was unable to connect to the internet. I've checked my network password, and it is correct, and I still can't access my network. I've checked my signal, and it's also at 100%. Is this my wireless card? Or is it my computer (which it might be, because when I try to connect it to my LAN with an ethernet cable, it STILL doesn't work) ? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone
Ok, newegg.com offered a combo deal for a dlink dir-655 with belkin F5D8013 N Wireless Notebook Card for $65.00 shipped so i jumped on this deal and ordered. but for some reason I'm unable to achieve speed of more then 54 \ 81 Mpbp ( transmit speed showing at 135 and receive speed at 54 and sometimes 81 Mbps ) .not sure if i am still overlooking a step or two or some kind of tweak in router setup that would help achieve the full 300Mbps.i searched thru d link forum for solution but came up empty.

dir-655 Hardware Version: A4 Firmware Version: 1.21
dir-655 Wireless setting as follows:
802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g ( 802.11n only with same results )
Auto Channel Scan : Enable ( also tried to lock to specific channels but same results )
Transmission Rate : Best (automatic)
Channel Width : Auto 20/40 Mhz ( locking into 802.11 only with 40 Mhz gave me same results)
Security Mode : WPA-Personal
WPA Mode : WPA2 Only Cipher Type: AES

since I'm not to tech savvy i did not try to tweak any other setting in router so all other settings are at the factory defaults.(other then the wireless setting as per above). if anyone can suggest a solution to increase my speed it would be greatly appreciated.
here are the links for both the router and wireless card:

I am upgrading my pc using some parts from a mates pc he no longer needs. I have upgraded in order to play Rainbow 6 Vegas.

The MB is a Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 with an Intel P4 3.06Gz HT chip. Ever since using this MB the behaviour of the wireles network card has become eractic. The card is a Belkin Wireless G Desktop Card (F5D7000).

Once booted all appear well. The belkin icon in the task bar is green and shows the connection to the router. After a few hours it drops the connection (icon turning red) and will not reconnect. I have used my laptop to verify that it is not the router. I cannot get the belkin wireless utility (it will not let you use the windows one) to even see the router to reconnect.

When I fitted the new MoBo I installed a fesh copy of XP (with SP2) to try and avoid any such issues.

If I reboot the machine it sometimes reconnects, but last night it would not. The belkin icon turned green for about 5 secs and then went red.

Device manager in windows seems to think the card is working properly.

I have had it suggested to me that there may be an 'interupt' issue, but not really sure what that means or what to do about it. Is this related to the IRQ in the BIOS?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jon

A:Belkin Wireless Card - Disconnecting

What version of Windows do you have? If you have XP SP2, then disable the Belkin wireless utility and service. Use the WZC client that is included in SP2. If you have XP SP1 or XP, then disable the WZC utility/service and use the Belkin utility.

Having both running at the same time can cause connection issues.

Ok so I have this old old old sager laptop with an amd k6 2 300 mhz processor windows 98 SE. Someone gave me a belkin f5d7010 wireless g card and it just wont work.

Initial install failed the software installed fine but it would not work witht he card at all. I tried to install once more and by chance I had an NIC network card (wired) plugged in one of the pcmcia slots installed the software restarted and realized that the beklin wifi card was no in the pcmcia slolt so I just shoved it in the other slot (slot b) and I saw the belkin wifi utility pop up and start scaning wifi connections and to my amazement it worked. I checkd my email lookup up some things just for fun and all was well for a few minutes.

Then, My laptop crashed ever since then I could not get this wifi card to work.

Ive tried alternate driver versions and nothing works. I noticed that this thing only supports 98 SE not 98 first edition so I updated to 98 SE no big deal I have an old win98 cd so I installed. Renived the software re-installed and nothing. It just won't work.

Someone please help me maybe I need some update or something to make this work.

G'day Everyone,

So having spent hours attempting to get a Belkin F5U222 High-Speed USB 2.0 Notebook Card to work I'm all out of ideas. I have finally managed to wrangle the card to a point that one of the slots works as a USB 1.1.

The card has two USB 2.0 slots;

-Laptop is a Fujitsu S Series Lifebook
-Windows XP with SP3
-Single Card slot only

I have installed as per directions, drivers then plug in on restart. Initially it was detecting it as a Real Time Clock, which I eventually overcame.

Having restarted, uninstalled, restarted, installed and restarted before putting the card in, the device manager now shows the appropriate USB root hubs however the controllers come up as 'NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller' - I assume that they need to be enhanced host controllers? When i attempt to update the drivers from a specific location (I have downloaded the latest drivers) the system doesn't register the Belkin driver and so I'm unable to select it. When I choose 'have disk' windows tells me that the driver does not contain information relating to the hardware.

As it stands the device manager shows one 'NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller' as working correctly - and it does as a USB 1.1 only! The other has an exclaimation mark. In addition to my normal working USB 1.0 slots, which show up and work fine, I have a second heading of 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' under which 'PCI Class USB 2.0 Enhanced Host C... Read more

I recently bought a Belkin Wireless G notebook card to replace an old US Robotics card on a laptop running Windows 2000 Pro. I am now using WAP instead of WEP security on a wireless access point and the old card could not access the access point once I changed. My problem is that the Belkin card does not see any of the networks that are running in my neighborhood even though in the device manager it says it is enabled and working properly and it is sitting 3 feet from the router. I tried this card in two different XP machines and in both of them it had no trouble seeing the many networks. I spent more than an hour on the phone with Belkin and they finally told me to ask Dell (It is an Inspiron 8000). I think the problem has more to do with Windows 2000 than with Dell. It is an old computer that my husband used for work and 9 years ago I set it up to use internet sharing at home to begin with through the wireless cards and then through a router with broadband. I remember it being the devil to set up. It was suppose to have an ethernet connection when first bought but we only discovered after a year that it did not have one. (We were not using broadband then.) A tech person came to the house and installed the missing hardware. So it does work on the Ethernet plug with the network. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Belkin card and software several times. At one time I had Zone Alarm on this computer but right now it does not appear to have a firewall. It is a computer that ... Read more

We have 4 notebook computers and 1 desktop. All were on a wireless network which functioned great until I decided to reformat the Desktop's HD.The 4 notebooks use a variety of wireless cards and our wireless router is a Netgear.
The computer with the problem is a pentium 2 on Windows 98. I reformatted it, Reinstalled the Belkin software and restarted the computer..then received this error message:
Error Starting program
is linked to missing export
Cannot connect on this computer now (others still work fine)-All functioned well before on same PC with the same operating system.

I tried various solutions-updated windows, updated windows libraries (contains MFC42.DLL), uninstalled & reinstalled Belkin software several times, removed card before installation, installed the drivers from the Belkin website for this card..all to no avail. Still get the error message...still can't connect on the network.
Any suggestions appreciated

Yes your problem is that wireless card will not work with Windows 98 Version 1. You will need to upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition. This will fix your problem.

Hello all,

I'm looking for ideas on troubleshooting a laptop with a Belkin F5D7010 54G PCMCIA card, trying to connect to an 802.11g network. The card is installed on a laptop running Win XP with SP1 and up to date with all MS patches. The computer sees the card, but the card does not see the network. Occasionally, as the card scans for available networks with the Belkin Network Utility, the access point will show up briefly, but quickly disappear. the network is run without encryption and broadcasting SSID, all Belkin equipment and there are three other computers (Win2K, XP and 98) currently conected to the wireless network without problems. Running MacStumbler at various points of the house clearly shows network with good strength. Things I've done:

- Installed new drivers for card from the Belkin site - no effect
- Connect laptop directly to router via ethernet cable - laptop connects to network without problems
- Downloaded and installed all remotely applicable patches from MS - no effect
- Tried another card (same model/make) - same symptoms.
- Tried moving the laptop next to wireless router - no effect
- Tried both cards in another laptop - other laptop (Win2K OS) connects with no problem (! points to something on laptop as the problem, not card)
- Checked that radio on card is enabled (you never know)

the puzzling bit is that the Laptop with the card used to connect without problems before the holidays. I've changed one piece of network config since ... Read more

I have been trying in vain to install a Belkin "wireless G USB Network Adapter" onto a Windows XP computer, but the whole shaboodle is so riddled with errors and pitfalls that I'm having a real problem. When I install the device it does not connect to the network, no matter how much I restart it, the connection manager constantly attempts to open and gives me error messages of its own accord, and I'm just not quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing. If anyone can tell me how to fix this, then you will have my eternal gratitude. Thank you!

A:Need a hand setting up Belkin Wireless USB card, please!

Are you using just the driver or the driver and the connection software? XP does not like any other software programs to manage its wireless connections. Try just loading the driver for the USB... see if that helps out.
