Where to put server info for Outlook '97

Q: Where to put server info for Outlook '97

I have Outlook '97.
"No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient." is the error message I keep getting.
I believe I entered the wrong "incoming" and "outgoing" server addresses.
Where would I go to enter the correct POP and SMTP addresses? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I work in an office where Outlook reigns supreme.
My manager has been overseeing multiple accounts via Outlook and it's not going well.  He constantly is replying using the wrong email account and causing quite a bit of confusion.  He NEEDS separate email clients to limit his own confusion.  So I figured he'd be better off have multiple email clients... Outlook having his personal main account, Thunderbird (or similar) with the other email account(s).
Here's my issue, the company uses an in-house server for email.  I'm attempting to set up Thunderbird and it's asking for an Incoming  IMAP (or POP3) and Outgoing SMTP.  I'm not exactly sure of this and so far my guesses have been gone.  Just curious if someone knows where to get this info from through Outlook.
I've browsed Google, but every result is for an Internet Settings, not a Server Settings.
OS: Win 7 Professional 64bit
Program: Outlook 2010
Let me know if more info is needed.

A:Obtaining Outlook 2010 Server Info

Since you are using an in-house email server, you will need to get that information from the IT department or whoever manages the in-house mail server.

Hi guys,

Recently, my computer died and my only option was to buy a new one. Because my old hard drive isn’t compatible (?) to connect to the new motherboard, I’ve put it in an external case and have been transferring the stuff I need into the brand new drive on the new machine without a problem.

My question is… how I can “import” my Outlook emails and contacts that are stored on the external drive onto my new drive? I’ve already set up MS Outlook (Office 2003) on my Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) system (same as the old one), and the emails are functioning properly. I just need to get all my old Outlook info back.

I’ve tried following the path of where I’m being told the .pst files are on the local drive (C:\Users\MelbMuso\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst) and also on the external (F) drive, but when I search for both particular paths, I get error messages. If I manually search for the folders, I only get as far as the 'MelbMuso‘ folder, and the folders named after that aren’t shown.

I thought the folders may have been hidden, so I right clicked and clicked ‘Properties’, then selected the ‘Hidden’ box, thinking that the missing folders would appear. Instead, a window appeared showing files being transferred, which I thought was going to show the missing folders, but instead, the ‘MelbMuso’ folder disappeared all together. I did not click delete at any stage.

Any suggestions on how I can get this ‘MelbMuso’ folder back, and how I can get my... Read more

I am currently using windows xp, and dsl. I just downloaded incredimail to write emails and recieve them. I am not able to recieve emails but can send them. When someone writes back it goes to my verizon account as that is what the server information is on incridimail.

I normally use netscape for my email address and would like my recieving emails to come back at incredimail however, when I try and configure netscapes server info I don't know what it is or how to obtain it without paying for there tech help.

Is there another way to get netscapes server info? I have dsl thru verizon and they just got me registered so now whenever I send emails from the incredimail account, anyone answering these go directly to the verizon email account and ZI want them to come in thru incredimail. I have searched everywhere on both sites and still cannot configure this mess.

Thanks for any help

If I understood you correctly, you want to configure your Netscape email account in Incredimail. If memory serves me well, it is very similar to setting up in Outlook Express. Use the directions from the link below to setup your Netcaspe account in Incredimail.

I have two old HP5 (parallel port only) printers that are just wonderful. They are the absolute cheapest to operate at less six-tents of a penny a page and more dependability could never be expected from any device. I've been looking at print servers, the internal one made especially for my printers and other external ones made to work with any parallel port printer.

My last experience with generic (those not made for a specific printer) print servers was that they would run out of memory and quit a print job at the point the buffer was full. For that reason, I sort of considered them second rate parts and never used them again. That was about 7 years ago.

Occasionally, I will send 200- to 500-page print jobs to the printer and it prints it just fine, start to finish without a hitch. If the print servers still suffer from this buffer problem, I don't want to waste my time finding out the hard way.

Question: Do today's generic print servers from reputable companies like Linksys, Netgear, etc. still suffer from these buffer problems, or have they solved that?

just incase anyone was having trouble with the updater.....this is why.
Server has moved.
At about 8 p.m. (GMT+2) yesterday, the main server (security.kolla.de) was no longer reachable, displaying a 404 error. The integrated update function wasn't working either.

The reason for this was that my webspace provider moved the pages to a new server, most probably because of over a million page hits yesterday. This (unannounced) move was finished at midnight according to their information, but until the page is available again there may be a delay of up to 24 hours.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused (I was as surprised as everybody else). Still waiting for an explanation from them why they did this without speaking with me first, and without keeping the old pages online until all DNS have the new IP.

P.S.: because security.kolla.de was not available, many visitors tried security.kolla.com instead. Due to the high amount of Spybot-S&D visitors, the owner of kolla.com was kind enough to forward the kolla.com addresses to this site temporarily. But if you want to bookmark this page, please open http://security.kolla.de/ and bookmark the correct page.

I will attempt to be as clear and concise as possible. The situation is that a company is being purchased by another company. Company A is being asked for information by company. Company B wants all of the information required to remotely access company A's servers as soon as the transaction is completed. The problem is company A no longer has IT support or even anyone onsite who is capable of providing this information. Company B has specifically requested a domain password. I have been given this responsibility because I am the closest thing they have to support. I have established remote access between personal computers in the past. But never a company server. How can I direct those onsite through the process of accessing the required information from their servers and then possibly setting up a vpn or remote test to make sure it works? Is a domain password all that company B will require to remotely access servers and network of company A?

I am trying to set up a DHCP server, I need to know what other services are required along with DHCP example: WINS, DNS, ,etc.. Also what protocols to install besides TCP/IP. I tried NetBEUI and was able to log into the server with my laptop and a crossover cable, but when I use only TCP/IP it says there is no domain to verify my log in. But when I was able to log in the IP address was the same on every login, it was something like 169.???.???.???. Also when connecting a hub do I need to have some kind of serial connection from the hub to the server or just patch cables from the hub to the NIC cards. Thanks for the help.

[This message has been edited by Reuel Miller (edited 08-21-2000).]

A:{Advice Offered} - DHCP server & Hub info

I see Reuel hasn't gotten to this yet, so I'll give it a shot...
With my DHCP Server (PDC), I've got it with WINS, pulling the info from another site. Put WINS on there so you can resolve the computer names from the IP's...That way the only protocol you need is TCP/IP. If you're not getting your WINS info from somewhere else, you'll need to set up your lmhosts file. Put those settings on your server, add the new computer to your domain, then log on. If you've still got that 169.xxx.xxx.xxx do an ipconfig /release, then /renew from the command prompt, and I suppose that should be that.
As far as the connecting with the hub, I believe you can just run the patch cables from the NICs to it, if there is a switch for "normal" on the hub, go to that, not "uplink". Then again, I could just be talking out of my arse here.
But I honestly think the best thing to do is to try whatever Reuel has to offer...He's the man, in case you didn't know.

My first and last experience with a print server was with a small, cheap one that would not handle jobs over about 30 pages. If you gave it a 200-page job, well, it would just quit after about 30 or so pages.

I have an HP5 printer in my office connected to an always-on computer. Well, occasionally, I would like to turn that computer off or maybe go into DOS mode to play around with things there. That makes the printer unavailable to the rest of the network. I would like to use a print server; but, I don't want to run into that print server's memory barrier when I want to print a 400-page document.

I admit that beyond the knowledge of a print server's intended basic function, I know almost nothing about them.

Any suggestions or knowledge anyone cares to impart would be appreciated.

I need to know my motherboard information for a Compaq PL1600 6/450 (I think this website has it, I have a 450Mhz Pentium II processor http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10034_div/10034_div.html )

One thing is that I can not boot it so will not be able to use any programs that detect it automatically. I have a few serial numbers (which I have no idea how to read) and one picture I took (which I believe would only help if we had a small sample of motherboards to choose from.).

The boards are split in two (three if you count the small one that connects the two larger boards together as well as containing connections for the IDE cables and SCSI cables and power.)

The top board which has PCI, battery etc.. has a small white sticker with a bar code then some numbers and characters.

I have a SOHO with several computers running XP Pro. I recently inherited a Lexmark MarkNet Pro 1 (sans installation CD, unfortunately), and I'd like to hook up my printer through this print server directly to my router so that the printer is available to any computer that is on. When I plug everything in, I can print a test page that shows the TCP/IP address of the printer, so I assume that part is working. But when I go to add the printer, the computer can't "see" the print server. In the Printer Wizard, I've tried browsing for the print server/printer, and I've tried entering the URL. I've also tried creating a standard TCP/IP port. All to no avail. I'm not a networking expert, and I think there must be some small key point that I'm missing. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

A:Need basic info on setting up a Lexmark print server on XP Pro

Go to Lexmark and get the drivers etc. first:

When I installed my printserver (Netgear PS110), I had to first install the PS-driver on each PC. Then (re)install the printer drivers as a LOCAL machine, not-shared, and when it comes to selecting the printer-port, you select the network-port that has been installed by the PS-driver.

I assume that Lexmark won't be that different.

Hi Guys
Trend Micro just bit me in the rear end. This is the message that I sent them today - it should be self explanatory and I hope you will be impressed with my language restraint.

Trend Micro. Last June I purchased PC-Cillin on line. Customer #36033071
On Wednesday night I updated pc-cillin and then scanned my c-drive. On Thursday morning I knew I had a Tragedy!
Our desktop is totally different, when I booted I got a box for "Serial Port Setup". Could not get on line. Had to call our ISP to redo our dial-up connection configuration. Been on the phone for hours and I think now I am going to be able to send this message. I pray so.
The ISP tech asked me to check firewall profiles in Trend Micro and, sure enough, the box was checked to enable firewall. I don't remember ever doing that. That is what caused the Serial Port setup problem. When I diasabled "firewall" that problem went away. What did Trend Micro do to Me?

I no longer have Outlook Express with all my preferences. No address book! You have no idea what that does to us. My old desktop configuration is lost???

Please. Help us get our old desktop back - at least the address book! HELP

I have spent a painfully huge amount of time today entering and reentering the same contact info into Outlook .............. and when I "test" retrieve the newly added contact.......it isn't there!  I shouldn't have to "test" retrieve
contact info, but after today's experience it appears this is a new support I have to provide for Outlook.  "Testing" doesn't fix the problem, it just prevents me from needing the info and then discovering that Outlook is unwilling to provide
it when I need it like what happened today.
To be fair, I do not use the "full name" line, I enter the name info on the "company" line because 12 or 15 years ago I had this same exact problem of Outlook disappearing contacts (not all, just a random few).  Using the company
line to enter the contact name info remedied that problem for 15 years and hundreds, maybe thousands of contacts..............until today.
I have tried the "name" only; the different "columns" ways of searching and none of it can find the contact I entered and saved just minutes before.
I have 3,00-ish contacts.  Maybe Outlook is incapable of that big a contact data base?
I am at a loss because nothing I do fixes this maddening problem.
Anyone who can help........................thanks so much.

Reinstallation of Office Communicator
Repaired Office 2007 installation (which recreated Name.dll)
Checked the Person Names options in Outlook under Tools -> Options -> Other
Tried altering both the following registry settings to either 1 or 3:

I was getting a message saying that due to an installation problem outlook could not be opened (or something like that). The funny thing, even when I started word, it had an install process happening each time??!

I tried the fix of “userdata” in the regedit etc. and it came up with a “make new profile” option when I tried to re-start outlook.

Okay, so I have made a new profile in outlook, just putting in my name and little else.

Now, can I somehow transfer all of my old profile, the settings, the folders, everything (apart from the problem) onto my new profile?

It seems to start okay, but obviously there is nothing of mine in it!

Sorry for being a dork, this is all above me.

A:Outlook woes, new profile and transfering old info... please help!

If you are able to see your old profile in Mail setup profiles, you can switch between the profiles.
Windows' Start button, and go to Settings > Control Panel > Mail.
Here you can you see email account settings, data files and show profiles. You can tick "Always use this profile" after selecting your old profile.

If you can't see your old profile, then Search for dbx files in your computer. Or open the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\
You should see two folders inside it provided your old profile has not been removed. Compare the size of the files there. Smaller one will be your new profile files. Take a copy of your old files there and put them into a new folder. Then in OE use Import option to import your messages into your new profile. When prompted for files, choose the new folder you created above.

Hope this helps.

I normally use MS Outlook for e-mail but I set up Outlook Express to handle some temporary e-mail accounts. After I was done, I deleted all the account info in Outlook Express, but now the System Info tool (siw.exe) shows the leftover passwords as Deleted Outlook Express Accounts via the "secrets" option.

How do I get rid of those passwords and the rest of the deleted Outlook Express account info?

Ok, this a bit complicated I don’t expect many to know this, but I hope someone does who is willing to share it .….

What is the file that the login information is stored in? And whare in the registry does it tell Outlook Express (2k) to Find this file/info is located?
Primarally I need to know this a WinXP OS’s, but hopefully I can find this information for the 98 version, (which is quite probably in a altogether different place within reg as is fairly standard in these matters) also

I've had this issue a lot - when recovering customer's data from an inoperable hard drive and restoring their outlook or outlook express.

I can access data (file and folders) using my data recovery tool. I ususally take the hard drive out and load/run the utility on another computer and copy and save the important files for reloading.

Outlook is the issue if they have never "Exported" the account info out.

In most cases I have the computer (depot serverice) and the user may or may not know the account information themselves - I rebuild with that one little detail left out and then need to spend time on site and calling their ISP on the customers behalf to find the appropirate info. (In the long run, it is god education for the customer)

Issue: How to get the email account and password information inorder to rebuild. Is it stored anywhere in the registry that I might be able to access

A:Need Outlook Express Account info to rebuild

Here is a nice article to explain where the OE files are stored.

Normally you can copy All of the .dbx files from the old install, then import them to the new install.

The address book is a .wab file stored elsewhere.

Hi all, I hope you can help me. I have multiple contacts with the same names and different info in my outlook 2000 contacts folder. Some contacts have only email addresses, or different phone numbers, or home or business addresses etc. I want to consolidate all the info from all the contacts with the same name into one contact. Kind of like when you add a contact that already exists and outlook tells you the contact already exists and do you want to update info from this contact to the existing one. How??? do I do this??? Thanks in advance.

Different computer this time. Every morning when I start this computer and click send/receive to start the dialup I get no respone so I have to click Tools/Options/Mail Setup/Send-Receive/Edit/Account Properties/Connection/ and check the dot for "Connect using my phone line" because when I quit Outlook it unchecks that dot.

My ISP is Earthlink...they said it was Outlook...

This once was not an issue. worked like it should. Stopped working proprerly last time we formatted the hard drive (XP)... I have uninstalled Office XP and reinstalled twice to no avail. I have fiddled with stuff that looked promising, but have never hit on the combination.

Once I click the dot for "Connect using my phone line" Outlook works like a champ for email...until the next day.

In Outlook go to file--import/export--choose export to a file--pst and select your personal folder. It will then give you the location of this file. Then just point Second Copy to that file and your done. I use Second Copy and this is what i do to back up all my Outlook data

Since the HTTP method of accessing my Live Hotmail account in Outlook is no longer supported, I found that I have the option to either use the Outlook Connector or configure it via POP3.
What is the difference and Which one should I choose?

The method that you should choose basically depends on the following;
your mail client/version of Outlookneed for 2-way-syncsupport for other folderssupport for other features
