X1 Carbon 4th Gen Trackpoint part number

Q: X1 Carbon 4th Gen Trackpoint part number

I just got a X1 Carbon 4th Gen and the trackpoints are different than they used to be. The hole is much smaller than the old design. I have been trying to find a part number but haven't had any luck. My favorite is the concaved version, but I would like to find any version at this point. Thanks for any help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This (Lenovo so-called "support)  is worse than I thought - I mean, there's not a single place that I can talk to a real Lenovo support staff to get this information... No support email address, no phone number, nothing. All I can do is hop on here, hoping to get an answer... Lenovo is quite smart that it has all you enthusiasts working for it, for free. Anyway, all I wanted to know is what kind of trackpoint cap should I order for my X1C 2nd gen? Appreciated,

Hi,
I would like to be able to add a media card reader to my 3010MT Optiplex Dell PC system. I noticed some machines were equipped with one 5.25" bay sharing a slim optical drive and media card reader in one bay.

What options do I have, do I have to change out my current optical drive or can I buy a media card reader that will fit with correct caddy etc in my current available 5.25" space below my optical drive.?

Basically wanted part numbers for 19 in 1 mcr for my 3010MT. Also, would a generic 5.25 device work?

Thanks

The code you've provided isn't a laptop Machine-Type-Model (MTM) one. Get it on the laptop bottom, it begins with 20BE or 20BF. Or take a look at the systemboard, there is a sticker on the SODIMM socket with mobo p/n, 7 symbols next to 52S, should begin with 00UP

I have a new X1 Carbon 6th generation. I have noticed that intermittently, the cursor will start drifting around the screen and the trackpad becomes unresponsive. I believe that this is the trackpoint making the cursor move. It lasts between 2-10 seconds and is very frustrating as I can't continue my work. I have tried disabling the trackpoint but I like using the top mouse buttons which get disabled as well with this settting. I have tried reinstalling the input drivers, no luck.Any suggestions? Do I need to return the laptop?

Hello all I have terrible but totally random trackpoint driftinghttps://imgur.com/LCVFRNWIt can be so bad it will drift for the whole screen. during the drift, the touchpad is non-responsive.It'll continue to drift if i keep trying to use the trackpointthe only way to stop is to wait 1-2 mintues hands off trackpoint. If i try to use the trackpoint before the 1-2 minute is up, even if the cursor is still, it will stil drift!   I noticed there's a new firmware for Yoga gen 3 which MAY fix this problem for them.- Is there such a firmware for X1 Carbon Gen 6 ? - does this firmware work with X1 C Gen 6?  i am hesitent to try a firmware. My TrackPoint is off center, as in when I take the dome off I see the soldered trackpoint hardware and its skewed to the bottom left. When I put the red cap back on, it touches the letter B and its closer to H and far from G key. I have a feeling a lot of the times my trackpoint moves by itself and is caused by this fact. Anyone else have an off centered TrackPoint?

GreetingsFirst time posting seeing if anyone else is having issues with the X1 Carbon trackpoint/touchpad freezing up on Windows 8.For me it is freezing up every 20min while I am using it, and also when I unplug the AC power. The mouse will freeze up but the keyboard works fine. Usually I am forced to reboot.A USB mouse will work fine during this freeze. I have tried installing all windows updates, Lenovo updates and even system recovery to a date when I didn't have issues but nothing seems to work. Anyone else have this issue? Its been very frustrating owning this x1, as I am on my second one after the first one died on me.

A:X1 Carbon trackpoint/touchpad freezing

Hi, changuri

I would recommend trying to install the Synaptics base driver and see if that helps your issues. Synaptics is the company that produces the UltraNav driver for Lenovo, so there should not be any loss of functionality, but it tends to fix issues like this in my experience. This driver can be found here. Try downloading and installing that and see if it helps.

Best of luck,
Adam

I just start using X1 Carbon Gen 2 and find that the Trackpoint is way too slow.  I have used Trackpoint for more than 10 years in various models of Thinkpad and get use to Trackpoint.  Every model of Thinkpad that I used, the default setting of Trackpoint which is in the middle, is too slow but after adjust to fastest, it work fine.  However, for this X1 Cargon Gen 2, it is still too slow after adjusting the speed to fastest. I have updated the device driver few days ago, it does not help. Any suggestion?

A:Trackpoint "too slow" proglem of X1 Carbon Gen 2

Same problem on the x240.  I set the trackpoint speed to max, mouse speed to max, and turned off the "enhance cursor precision" option (which also slows the cursor), and still feel like I'm effortfully pushing the cursor around the screen with the trackpoint.  It's completely unacceptable and basically ruins the trackpoint for me.  Last night I got on my old x201 and it was like a breath of fresh air... just tap the trackpoint and it immediately goes where I want.  The constant pressure on the trackpoint of my x240 is also making it lose it's inertia settings so that it frequently just drifts uncontrollably up or down the screen. Perhaps there's a registry setting to increase it's sensitivity? It's just terrible what they did to the trackpoint on this generation.  I can partially live with the virtual buttons, but the loss of sensitivity and the removal of the press-to-select function of the trackpoint are terribly dissapointing in the new X series.  They should take the red-dot off of the lenovo marketing.

I think most users know that TrackPoint has an auto-correction mechanism to avoid permanent physical tilt. That is, when TrackPoint is pushed towards a direction with constant force for several seconds, that direction will be corrected as "zero-point". Therefore you'll observe a counter-movement when releasing TrackPoint. What I want to mention is that, back on X220, if you press middle-button when pushing TrackPoint, the above mechanism will never be triggered regardless of how long or how hard you push. This is a correct and thoughtful design, because when middle-button is pressed, such tilt should be user-generated rather than permanent physical. However, on X1 Carbon (3rd gen), the auto-correction mechanism will be triggered even when middle-button is pressed. This is NOT a correct behaviour.I guess such behaviour is coded in Synaptics driver.  If so, please kindly contact them to correct this behaviour. Thanks.

This issue has been afecting me for some time, but as the warranty is coming closer to expire I decided to look into it. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 (at least that I noticed) my TrackPoint has stopped working. I checked the Lenovo assistant and all drivers are updated. Googled some solutions (like checking the setup screeen) and nothing was effective. The Mouse Control Panel shows the TrackPoint options greyed: http://i.imgur.com/yudv9WE.jpg  Before I go through the annoyance of calling the Lenovo/IBM support, is there any known solution for this? Thanks.

All has worked flawlessly for years. This morning the trackpoint quit working. It's greyed out in the mouse settings, but enabled in the BIOS. The trackpad works fine. The buttons under the spacebar do not work. I've rebooted. I've updated drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I've updated the BIOS. Nothing has helped. Any further suggestions? I'm incredibly frustrated. The reason I stick with Thinkpads is for the trackpoint so if that's not working I may as well throw this out and get a chromebook.

So, during the windows installer, no mouse. I couldn't see the pointer, neither the touchpad or trackpoint worked. I managed through using the keyboard, then once I got to the desktop I installed the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad" driver and rebooted. Still not working. I installed the thinkvantage system update, it detects no updates. I installed the service bridge. No updates. I then made a linux live USB that I use to install manjaro on all my laptops, yes everything worked out of the box on my previous x1 carbon. Touchpad doesn't work, xorg doesn't even recognize any touchpad present. Anyone else have this? Any solutions? This is actually my 2nd X1 carbon; the first works well but the mouse buttons are loose so Lenovo promised waived restocking and shipping with the purchase of a new order of equal or greater value; I ordered another one with plans to return the first one, because I really needed to keep it for work while I waited for the new one. The new one is actually flawless in terms of build, mouse buttons are solid, the CMOS battery is not loose and producing a rattling noise as it is in the first one, and the bottom cover doesn't have the clicking noise that so many are afflicted with. Really I'm willing to try anything to fix the touchpad.

Tried installing Synaptics drivers - it said there was no device for update. Device manager detects the touchpad as Microsoft mouse with corresponding drivers (screenshot attached).  Also tried installing update for TrackPoint from the drivers list, it said it needed a reboot to install, after reboot there was an error window that suggested trying once again, several times I saw this message.Anyone have this? Are there any possible solutions?(Searched on the forum, but the solutions were not for my case or didn't work)P.S. It would be kinda stupid for a $1500 laptop not to work because of a touchpad

So far, everything else has been okay. The "Enable Trackpoint" checkbox is greyed out in Control Panel / Hardware / Mouse / Thinkpad tab. After searching forums and web, I have tried the following, none of which have worked:- update all drivers - ensure windows 7 updates are up to date- uninstall lenovo driver and install synaptics driver (didn't work)  then reinstall lenovo driver (didn't work)- disable and enable trackpoint in BIOS (with reboots in between)- reset, power off, and reset via the hole in the base No luck so far. So this is the second time I am experienceing a problem with my x1 trackpoint and with the debacle of shipping that happened last time, I don't want to have to go through this again. I have sent my unit into lenovo for the same problem about 2 months ago.  the problem is similar to the one outlined here (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-erratic-trackpoint-Synaptics-19-3-4-99/td-...). the mouse finds a home in the bottom-left or top right corner.   However, I perfer the touchpad to the pointing stick, so this probably is not be a hardware problem (or it is and it's just faulty hardware from the start).   All I literally want to do is disable the trackpoint pointing stick.  but when I do, it disables clicking so that's not an option.   I really can't afford to go another 2 months without my laptop again.  not now.    Edit: I goofed my lefts and rights

Hi, I'm long time X / ThinkPad user and I have few issues that are making me crazy.1) I'm mostly using TrackPoint. It happens quite few times in some hours that mouse starts to slide to diagonal position. I can stop this by either having computer go to sleep or trying to move mouse on mousepad for 10-20 seconds until computer figures out that I'm on omusepad. Today it happened 3 or 4 times in an hour2) When I'm moving mouse with TrackPoint and stop it somewhere (for example on button) I often need to click a few times until mouse click is detected (using TrackPoint buttons)3) When I am using MousePad and I move fingers slow it moves in a shaking way or sometimes does not detect my finger movement4) It has always worked that when I was using MousePad (for example T460s) when I was sliding with one finger from point A to point B and then pressed with second finger it triggered Right Click. Now I need to slide from point A to B with one finger, remove finger from MousePad and tap with two fingers All the drivers are up to date and all windows updates are installed as-well.

I have a user that has a 2nd Generation X1 Carbon (the type with virtual buttons on the Synaptics TrackPoint/TrackPad.   The user is complaining that a context sensitivie menu (of the type that a right click would initiate) intermittently is shown when she left clicks.  She normaly uses the TrackPad but does use the TrackPoint on ocassion.  Here's what I've done so far: 1) I initially thought it was the TrackPad and had Lenovo Support replace it.  The problem was reduced but is still occurs. 2) I've installed current UltraNav drivers and updated all other drivers to current levels.  The WIndows 10 is also updated to current patches.  I would try setting the UltraNave to "Click Anywhere" but that disables the TrackPoint feature that is ocassionally used.  Has anyone seen this happen before and know a fix for this?

Hi I have just purchased a Pavillion 15-p189sa from PC World.  The product supplied actually has suffix na rather than sa ie Pavillion 15-p189na on the box.  I cannot determine what the difference the suffix relates to from the HP website.  Please could you explain the difference.  Have I been sold a different specification item ie not what I thought I was purchasing or does the suffix relate to something else? Regards Wphil

View Solution.

A:What do the part number suffixes mean?

I eventually got a response from PC World (UK) who had consulted with HP -  The performance specification of Pavillion 15-p189sa is the same as Pavillion 15-p189na.  The latter 'na' part is the newer item and has a slightly different cosmetic appearance, it has a texture finish to the cover. I'd say it's likely this would be the same for similar HP laptops from PC World at the moment.

Hi Everyone, I know I am not the first person to post about this problem, but I could really use some help. Look, I have been pulling my hair out to get some answers and to be frank I'm getting kinda irratated with all the runaround. My computer no longer recognizes my battery. There has not been any sort of damage to the computer, and my father ( a computer programmer) and I have done everything suggested in this forum and anything we could think of to fix this problem with no success. I really just need a new battery. I'm really not comfortable opening the laptop ourselves to get the part number. I have been give a number for hardware support, but they want to charge me $60 to help. I really don't feel like dropping that kind of money for a person to tell me a part number. I've looked online for replacement batteries and trying to find a battery for computer model seems to be impossible. Is there anyone who can help me? I've only had this computer for 7 months and of course stuff only happens after my warranty expires lol. Thanks, Zach
