Solved: SMTP issue with multiple gmail accounts in Thunderbird

Q: Solved: SMTP issue with multiple gmail accounts in Thunderbird

I have three gmail accounts that I access in Thunderbird. They all receive emails perfectly, but the issue is when I reply or send email from these accounts. (I've listed my SMTP settings after each).

Account One: [email protected] (this is a work email, and it sends and receives perfectly) SMTP.gmail.com

Account Two: [email protected] (this sends and receives perfectly) sMtp.gmail.com

Account Three: [email protected] (this receives perfectly, but when I reply it shows as being sent by [email protected]) smtp.gmail.com

Any idea how I can fix this? I want to get it set up correctly on my computer and then I will do the same on my iPhone.

Thanks in advance!

(By the way, I'm running Vista, Thunderbird 3.1.12

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You'll need to set up an SMTP server for each account.
It sounds like you're sending using the personal accounts server.
Tools>Accounts>Outgoing server(SMTP).
On the right click Add, type a unique description for the business account, the username for the business account (which should be different from your personal) and check the "use password".
Once the server is set, click the Business account in the left pane.
In the right pane, set the "Outgoing Server" drop list to the newly created SMTP server and click OK.
When you send a mail from that account the first time, you should be asked for the username and password. Check the box to have it remembered.
On the compose window you'll have a drop down on the From line that will list what account you wish to send the message from. It should automatically be the account you're sending from, but if you use the global inbox instead of separate account inboxes, you may have to select it.

I am making the transfer from Outlook to Thunderbird. Having a learning curve issue, but I'm making progress.

I have six email accounts coming into Thunderbird. Right now, there are three accounts that I can access and use in Thunderbird, the other three aren't "there". The folders are there, but they are continuously (past 4-5 hours) showing a downloading icon when I click on the Inbox folder.

It was working earlier today but I didn't like the way I had folders set up. I was intending to switch from mail folders to virtual folders. I THINK the problem is because I made a change in the account settings. On the Synchronization & Storage tab, I clicked on the Advanced tab and unchecked all of the Download checks next to folders.

I have since gone back in and re-checked them. I have closed and re-opened TBird and Firefox. I've Googled and searched and I'm frustrated, so hoping someone here will have a suggestion that will help.

Thanks!

Hi There,

I've used thunderbird for a year or so with no issues but suddenly it won't send any emails and is coming up with the following message:

Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server "coname".co.uk timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I know the server is sending mail as I've tested it independently, does anyone know what the issue could be and how to solve it?!

Cheers,

James

Not sure how to title this...

I use Thunderbird for e-mail. I have four e-mail accounts that I receive mail from daily. Three different providers (Netzero, gmail, hughesnet) I use only one out going account. Sometimes if I don't pay attention I send out mail from the wrong account i.e. [email protected], rather than BBBB @ gmail. Question: How can I set up Thunderbird to continue to automatically retrieve e-mail but NOT sent it out from an account I don't want to send from. How can I make it idiot proof?

A:Thunderbird Multiple Accounts

i have not tried this - as i like to use all the different accounts to send from

but if you goto
tools
account settings
and then go down to the
SMTP list
you can remove the account for SMTP from there

BUT first make a note of all the SMTP accounts and settings for servers , ports and security etc - so you can at least add them back if required
or you could take a screen shot of each

and just leave the one you want as default - default does not work on my system - it defaults to reply from the account it was received from

Now i have not tried and not sure how thunderbird will react - and if the from will be blank - rather than use the default

you can make a backup of thunderbird using http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ i use this a lot - usually to migrate uses to new PCs and from outlook etc
To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

hi to all

had this problem with thunderbird since i installed it and tried to set up multiple accounts. My main account works and has always done so, any extra account i set up either imap or pop it will not let me log on - constantly refuses.

Now my wife needs to set up a new account for herself and wanted to use Outlook express so we tried setting up an account, the same is happening - it will not let us log on. the passwords are correct, the ports are not blocked i have checked that, this is the message i get from outlook.

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server.
Your User Name was rejected.
Account: 'XXXXXXXXXX', Server: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR too many arguments,
only 1 arguments allowed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91"

Now i googled the error and virus software seems to be associated with this problem - i used to have norton proffessional but uninstalled and deleted it all a year ago - i now use AVG. But if this was the problem why would it only happen with secondary accounts and not my main one????

i am going crazy as i need a few different email accounts not just the extra wifes one, and it just wont happen - i use 1and1 as my host and homecall as my isp.

please if you have any ideas please reply.

thanks in advance.

steve

A:thunderbird multiple accounts dont work

If the error message seems to be tied to AV software as the Google search suggests, it perhaps wouldn't hurt to turn it off for a while (but not the firewall) to see if it makes a difference. I can't see it would be that either but best to eliminate it anyway. Also, since you have the difficulty with two e-mail clients, could it be something to do with your ISP? It might be worth a call to ask if there's a problem at their end

The process should apply to Mozilla Thunderbird 3.x as well.

I have 4 gmail and one ISP email accounts operating with Mozilla Thunderbird. I use my cell phone as a modem with GSM or 3G connection. I get totally confused with multiple messages - unable to send connection timed out, unable to send to sent folders. Mails in outbox can remain for days without my being able to send. Sometimes unable to save as draft. Result - I don't know whether messages have been sent or not. Sometimes lose messages completely. Read incoming messages may be recieved two or three times before being finally marked as read - even when I mark them as read!
The problems may be with our 'third world' connections but I believe that there are problems with Thunderbird. Has anyone had the same problem? More importantly, what is the solution - apart from going back to Outlook or handling each gmail account separately via google. Reluctant to do that since I only established multiple accounts because of Thunderbird's ability to use common boxes.

Hello, does anyone know the best way to accomplish having two gmail accounts open SIMULTANEOUSLY, whether in Chrome (preferred) using a workaround or extension, or in Firefox?  (There are plenty of options out there to handle password management to switch between accounts with a click or two, but if you want to be in two at the same time, the only things I've been able to find for Chrome at least is to open two different windows one in Incognito the other in regular mode.)  It would be MUCH easier to have both email accounts open in respective tabs within the same window.

Anyone found a way to do this yet (in either Chrome or Firefox, Opera)?

A:Being in multiple gmail accounts simultaneously

I don't think its possible natively, due the nature of how cookies and sessions are handled.

Hi, I use Thunderbird Email (T.B.). I checked for updates & it says I'm up to date. I have an old work email account listed on top of my Accounts list in the Left Column of the T.B. page. Then I have several different Gmail Accounts under that account. The last account is the "Local Folders". I was goofing around adding separate new accounts to my T.B. email system. I realized I'd really like to organize the way the list stacks up so the most often checked account can be on top then the 2nd most below it etc.. So the list NOW when all the (+) are closed looks like this:
-Old Work Acct
-Gmail 1
-Gmail 3
-Gmail 2
-Local Folders
-------------------
I would like to make it look like this:
-Gmail 1
-Gmail 2
-Gmail 3
-Old Work Acct
-Local Folders.
--------------------

Is there a way to rearrange the list of accounts. It seems like it just adds the new account below the account you made before. I'd like to not have to delete the Gmail accounts & start over if I can just move them around. Plus the "Old Work Acct" I want to move lower on the list simply can not be deleted. It has over 7 years worth of emails!! I tried to select the folder & drag 1 above the other but nothing happened. I did a google search & didn't find much either. I was hoping someone on this site know an easy answer to this problem. Thanks so much everyone!!

I hope it's okay to ask about this here, as I have done various Google searches and have not had any success in figuring this out.

I'm a new Windows 7 user. I used to use Outlook Express for email and now I think I'd prefer to use Thunderbird rather than Windows Live Mail. However, I'm having trouble setting up Thunderbird to work as Outlook Express once did.

I have a catch-all pop3 address that is really the only one whose received e-mails I want to download onto my machine at home. However, I want to be able to send e-mails from my work address from my home machine, too, so on Outlook Express, I added my work account and simply unchecked "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing". And that way, nothing from my work account ever got downloaded onto my computer.

In setting up Thunderbird, I tried to do the same thing. First I added my home account, and it was working fine. Then I added my work account and unchecked "Check for new messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every 10 minutes" in Server Settings. And in Synchronization & Storage, I unchecked "Keep messages for this account on this computer" and set it only to "Synchronize the most recent 1 day" (I tried to go to 0 days but it wouldn't let me) and checked "Don't download messages larger than 1 kb". However, every time I open Thunderbird, it pops up a box asking for my work address's passwo... Read more

How to configure Thunderbird to use port 587 for sending e-mail
How to verify Thunderbird settings
Your have to find out from your ISP what the outbound SMTP name is. Plus your port for sending may not be the same but lots of pictures that are step by step and your just need to use what your ISP says.
This is for Comcast.
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net

Sometime in August, my grandmother was convinced by the sales at CenturyLink to switch to CenturyLink from Comcast. Since then, we've been unable to access Gmail via the Apple Mail program as well as Thunderbird. I've tried opening the ports on the modem for SMTP, POP and IMAP, and none of those have helped. I've also tried using Thunderbird on Xubuntu 14.04, and Windows Mail and Thunderbird on Windows Vista and 7. I've tried it on all of those computers using Wi-Fi and Wired connections. Every time
I put the settings into Thunderbird, it gives an error message up at the top right that says

I've done all of the steps on the troubleshooting page, but none of them have solved the problem. I've even tried the steps for allowing less-secure apps onto the account, but nothing has worked.

On Windows Mail, it just keeps asking for the username and password for POP.GMAIL.COM
I've checked the password, and I've tried retyping it. I've even tried typing it in Notepad and pasting it into the password box. It logs in with the password if I paste it into the Gmail page in Safari, but not if I enter it into the box on Windows Mail. Helping someone who recently moved from one state and ISP to another.
Has been using outlook for quite some time. Added the new email account with no problem. Is ready to delete the former email account, but when we do, the calendar and contacts go with it. Tried importing the pst file into the new account and repeatedly we still end up with two views - one for email with no contact/calendar; and one with the wrong email but the contacts/calendar.
Account settings shows one email account and two data files. Every time we try we cannot get the new email account and the old data file as one. And even when it looks like we have, as soon as we delete the old email account the contacts and calendar disappear.
User is on Windows 10 and Outlook 2010.

I would use something like outlook.com to be independent of an isp

you should be able to export/import the calendar into the new email calendar

I sure could use some help brainstorming this situation which has only developed sometime in the past 15 hours.

I use Thunderbird 8.0 as my email client with my Comcast account. I successfully sent an email yesterday afternoon, but, starting early this morning, when I try to send an email, I consistently get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.comcast.net timed out." I can receive email with no problem, and my first thought was that the problem lay with Comcast. After a while I tried logging on to the Comcast web site and found I was able to send email from there with no problem. I then called Comcast, and they indicated it must be a Thunderbird problem. They provided me with a tech help number for TB, which I used. The hard-to-understand tech responder logged into my system, but he was only able to confirm that I couldn't send email from TB, and that I could do so from the Comcast site. Further help would cost money, which I declined.

More information: (Reboots have been tried with no success.) This same identical problem occurs when I use my laptop where TB 8.0 is also installed. The two computers use different security systems, including different firewalls. I did run Malwarebytes on this desktop computer with negative results. The only common points with the two computers that I can think of are the email address, and the router and modem, but I have made no changes in recent months. The laptop... Read more

I set up my Thunderbird account and am able to download emails from my server, gameandsave.com, without any problem. I have another computer at my dad's house and he uses optonline.net over there, and I never had any issue with thunderbird.

However, at my other house, which has Comcast as an internet service provider, I am having issues with sending emails. Whenever I go to send an email, I get an error message saying that the SMTP server was not found, and the email doesn't send.

I've tried messing with the SMTP outgoing message settings, like changing the port 25 to the 587 and the other one, whatever it is. Tried changing around my username and stuff, but nothing seems to work. I'm stuck now because I never had this problem at the other house and I am not too good with computers so when stuff starts to go wrong like this, I don't know what to do. I read the comcast forums, nothing they said helped. I called Comcast also trying to explain the situation, but they told me I gotta contact my service provider, which is gameandsave.com, but then the people hosting my site told me it's not an issue with them - and I agree because I don't have this problem with optonline.net.

Please help. Thank you.

A:Problems with outgoing SMTP email using Thunderbird & Comcast

Double check with Comcast to make sure that they allow users on their network to send e-mail through non-Comcast SMTP servers. Some ISPs block such connections as an anti-spam measure. In this case, they may allow connecting to such servers using an authenticated connection having different port numbers.

When using the Comcast connection, can you ping the other mail server?

I use the new Windows Live Mail client to access two IMAP accounts, Gmail and one provided by my University. Gmail works such that whenever you send an email through it, it automatically puts a copy in the Sent Mail folder. So if the WLM client tries to put a copy there as well, you end up with two copies of the email in the Sent Mail folder. The University IMAP account doesn't work like this. A copy will only appear in the Sent Mail folder for that account if the client program puts a copy there.

So the problem is the way WLM handles this. Most IMAP settings are specific to the account. You right click on an account, go to settings, and then go to the IMAP section and specify the folders and stuff like that. However, the option of whether or not WLM puts a copy of an email you send in the Sent Mail folder can only be set for the entire client.

In Tools->Options->Send is the checkbox for this option. If it's checked, I get a single copy of sent mail in the University account and two copies in Gmail. If it is unchecked I get no copies for the University account and just one for Gmail.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

edit: Oh, and a side question, is it possible to make WLM stop showing the number of unread emails in the trash or spam? They're in there because I have no intention of reading them. I don't care how many are unread.

I am collecting mail on my GMail account using Thunderbird and there is obviously a setting in GMail that I don't understand.

I have two addresses that GMail is aware of. We'll call them [email protected] and [email protected]. Obviously, the recovery e-mail address is just that, intended for use only when things go sideways and I might need to recover a lost password or something like that.

When people send mail to [email protected], I also get a duplicate of that same message at [email protected]. I am tired of having to delete all of those mails from [email protected]. They shouldn't be going there in the first place. How can I stop them from going there?

I just moved and changed to Charter cable internet. I have about a dozen email accounts connected to various websites I own. This involves at least 2 different servers provided by 2 different providers. Two days ago I was using the same computer on a friends wireless network and could sent and receive email no problem. Hooked up to Charter I can receive but not access the SMTP servers on any of the websites. I get this error message when I try to send an email

Server was found but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct.

My outbox is empty. I cannot even send test messages. Charter claims it can't possibly be them but that is the only change. Any thoughts? I searched this forum and found similar complaints but no real solutions. Hoping I missed the answer as this is driving me nuts and dealing with Charter tech support is trying my patience.

PS .. i use mail.mydomain.com for both send (POP3) and receive (SMTP) but have tried changing to smtp.mydomain.com without success

thanks

A:No SMTP access with Charter on all email accounts

POP is receive email and SMTP is for sending email. If you are on charter you will need to use their servers to send email not your domain. Most providers do not allow relaying.

Hi everyone. How do I use multiple Yahoo and MSN screen names in Trillian? I looked at their help site but couldn't find anything to help.

A:Solved: Using multiple accounts in Trillian

Nevermind, I did a little more checking and found out how to do it. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the capability to keep the lists by account separate yet so I'll be waiting until they upgrade this feature. Sorry!

I am running Windows XP SP2 and MS outlook 2003. I have 2 email accounts setup, I'll call them account1 and account2. Account1 email goes to the inbox and account2 is routed to a folder in the inbox called account2email via a rule:
apply this rule after message arrives, through the account2 account, and on this machine only, forward to contact1 and contact2.

I have no problems receiving the emails into the correct box, and all emails to account2 are forwarded to the contacts as directed. And when the contacts open the email it is to them from account2. HOWEVER, when they hit reply to:, it lists reply to account1, with no mention of account2. So therefore the replies go to account1, NOT account2 as I would prefer.

Am I missing something obvious? Or can't this be done? Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas.

Does anybody know how to set up multiple accounts on MICROSOFT OUTLOOK? Something similar to OUTLOOK EXPRESS that allows multiple email accounts. When you send mail you can specify which email address to use and/or when you recieve mail from one account it gets sent to, let's say, the WORK FOLDER and vice versa. I want to be able to keep work and personal mail separate.

Hi... Just installed Thunderbird, latest version. When scanning a multi-page document to email with the Brother h/w device, I get multiple emails, one for each scanned page. I checked the settings for scanning and the only items that lists multi-page are TIF files, which isn't going to be adequate...PDF's are required. Outlook Express manages all the attachments into one email message, so it's not the printer/scanner device setting. How can I correct this?

Another computer in the office using the same model brother printer/scanner and the same version of Thunderbird works fine - multi-page documents scan fine to one email.

A:Solved: thunderbird creates multiple emails for scanned to email document

Well, after doing nothing particularly different.. reboot, and change to TIFF...and back to PDF, importing scan as attachment is working fine... so I guess solved. Although I have no answer as to why it wasn't working correctly in the first place.

On my computer, when I open Outlook 2003 I have a drop-down menu box and it lists all my email accounts. I select one and the personal folders opens for the account along with all the email.

My mom has the exact same software I do. WINXP Pro, MSOffice Pro 2003, etc. But for some reason I have forgotten how to set up the drop-down menu! Mental lapse I guess.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi Maui

It sounds like your Outlook is configured to prompt for a Profile.

With Outlook 2003 closed, change the option:
Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles button

Under: When starting Microsoft Office Outlook, use this profile:
Select: Prompt for a profile to be used
Apply, OK to save and close.

Start Outlook 2003 and you should be prompted to select a Profile.
Let us know if that is what you were looking for or not.

OK...wow...can someone share their insight on this one.

Just installed MS Outlook 2010. I set up my 3 email accounts. Now I have a separate Inbox for each of my 3 accounts....AND one for an account called Outlook.

Why does MS have to make this sooooo complicated. On my older verson of Outlook, all my email came into the same Inbox.

I don't mind if there is a separate Inbox, Sent, etc, for each account...but what the heck is the other "Outlook" account for.

TBaker14

A:Solved: Outlook 2010 with Multiple Email Accounts

Go to accounts (file->Account Settings) and look at your list of accounts. The 'Outlook' account may just be one you inadvertently added as the default account name. Check the settings of that account and see if you need it. Delete it if you don't.

Also, if you haven't already noticed, the email account you send from depends on what inbox is highlighted. I had to break old habits with 2010 to keep from sending mail out through the wrong account.

hi guys,

is it possible to sync multiple send items from 4 imap accounts on outlook 2007
i have 4 accounts
[email protected]
[email protected]

[email protected]

and i want to have each email user be able to read sent items that are sent from each individual account
i am sure i had this working ok on our previous hosting company, but after changing hosting companys
it doesnt seem to be working...one of the computers has a separate profile for each email address, would this not work this way?

im using imap which i thought read all the mail on the server, didnt download it...and sent items were also saved in a location
but there is no sent items under each of my imap accounts, only sent items in my favourites, but this doesnt refelect all sent mail either

any thoughts or ideas, appreciated

A couple months ago our internet got turned off.  Two of the email addresses I was using through our ISP are no longer valid.
When we got our internet turned back on recently, those email addresses  were still no longer valid but Thunderbird continued to try and connect.  After a couple days I got tired of that and went into accounts and removed those two accounts.
Unfortunately, somewhere around 200 emails just disappeared instantly when I did that.  Also, I have since closed and reopened Thunderbird, not sure if that makes matters worse.
I'm just wondering now if there's ANY way to get any of those email messages back?

Do you have backup of the computer?
If not, then you might be outta luck.
You can look on the hard drive where Thunderbird stores the messages and see if you can find the folder that would contain the email messages for those accounts:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
If the appropriate folder is not there, then your only option might be a data recovery program.

Hi,

I want to install the latest version of Thunderbird, but I think there's an issue with Windows 7 user account settings.

The installation program launches and seeks permission as a user vs an admin. When I do it as the current user, nothing happens. When I tried it through admin. it asked for password, punched it in, nothing happened. After a couple of tries, now it won't accept the password (despite the fact that I removed the password control from the admin account) and says username-pass don't match. I don't what exactly is the problem.

I'm the owner of the computer, so no "admin" issues there and I'm using windows 7 with latest updates. What do you reckon the problem might be?

Thanks much.

Try running the program in Windows XP SP2 compatability mode. Also place a check mark on "Run as an Administrator" under privileges level and click on Apply and then Ok.

Hi,
I run Thunderbird and use windows 7 on my laptop. I have two accounts on Thunderbird, one personal and one business. Whenever I click an email link, the personal account comes up by default but I want the business account to appear. I know I can switch accounts to the one I want but sometimes I forget and I send a business email from my personal email account. Is there an easy way to change this. I keep email address on an excel spreadsheet with other account information and I normally just open the spreadsheet and start clicking email addresses to send emails to my customers. It would be great if my business email would be the one to come up as the default address so I don't have to remember to switch accounts before I send.
Thanks

Aral Balkan ? How to reorder mail accounts in Thunderbird

Quote:

I went digging in my profile folder and found prefs.js. In there, I modified the two lines shown below (my actual file has quite a few more accounts.)

user_pref("mail.accountmanager.accounts", "account4,account1,account3,account2");
user_pref("mail.accountmanager.defaultaccount", "account3");

That folder is probably in a path like:

C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Profile Name]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\[numbers&letters].default

I'm looking for a tutorial somewhere that explains how to find the data file, similar to Outlooks .pst file. However, I'm looking for a tutorial on how to pull it from a hard drive thats in a dock, then port it to a new computer, transfering contacts and everything.

Coming from a " Oh no, my hard drive is so bad that it no longer boots the os, but all the files are still retreivable. "

Thanks

A:Recovering Thunderbird Accounts

I Think I just solved the issue, from what I read you can simply copy the profile to the other computer and you're done. I've always had to retreieve the pst file since everyone used outlook; but I have more customers and family members using thunderbird and wanted to know before anything bad ever happened.

After upgrading to windows 10 I added my outlook.com account to "mail" in windows 10. I didn't like it, and had trouble using the "sync" function but eventually got it synced and folders rebuilt and files over to it. I have now installed Thunderbird and like that program much better and have imported all my files and folders and contacts.
Question: Can I now remove my outlook.com account from "mail" in windows 10 ? Or will that wipe all info I imported to and using with Thunderbird? And second, how to I remove that account in mail, I don't see that option listed anywhere. Thank in advance for any help or suggestions.

A:Accounts in windows 10 and Thunderbird

I do not use the Mail app.

From what I understand, if you are using your Microsoft Account to sign in, you cannot delete the email account.
You will need to sign in on a local account in order to do that.

That's what I was told.

I have things messed up in Thunderbird after adding 2 new accounts.

Originally when I set up Thunderbird, I set up my main account in the Local folder. I had a number of folders, filters, etc. in the Local Folder. Just recently I wanted to move that account into its own separate account, called Account545. At the same time I set up another account using a different server and that one is working fine. But Account545 isn't working right. It seems to still be tied into my Local Folders somehow, so the mail is coming into both Account545 and the local folder. I have looked at all the properties (especially the global inbox - changed it to Account545 Inbox) to see if I have it set up correctly and I am pretty sure I do. I just don't get what is going on.

So I thought it would be good to start over, and create my accounts fresh, along with a new install of Thunderbird. But I don't want to lose my emails, folders or Lightening Calendar. I am not sure if I keep my entire profile, if the problems will just carry over.

How should I go about doing a new install, but still keeping my info.

Thanks for the help!
Kristi

A:Thunderbird Accounts got messed up...

Copy your profile to a safe place.

You can then uninstall Thunderbird, remove the Thunderbird folder, install the new Thunderbird, set up your accounts, and then copy from your old/saved profile what you want into the new.

All your email messages will be in the Mail and/or ImapMail folder(s). Your address book is the abook.mab file. I don't know which file or folder will have the calendar info.

In the various Mail and ImapMail folders it's probably best to delete all the .msf files. Thunderbird will recreate them. Your actual messages are in the files that do not have an extension.

I didn't see a forum for email problems so. I am using Thunderbird because of course Windows 7 does not have it. I have five sub accounts with Thunderbird and the same ones with another PC with OE. With TB I only receive emails addressed to the default main account no matter which one I set as the default. I can't receive emails to any of the sub accounts. There must be a setting for this otherwise why have sub accounts. What am I missing? Thanks for any replies.

A:Thunderbird sub email accounts

You have to set up multiple outgoing SMTP settings each to its own user.
