hp Pavilion g6 Dual Band WLAN Module Availability

Q: hp Pavilion g6 Dual Band WLAN Module Availability

Does anyone know of a dual band WLAN module that works with a United States hp Pavilion g6 (g6-1b59wm) laptop? I've searched the forums and found a little background info, but was never really able to come to a conclusion on my question. I loooked over the hp Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02829479) and it appears to list two compatible dual band WLAN modules: 1.) Atheros AR9285 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi adapter - hp Spare Part # 580101-0012.) Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter - hp Spare Part # 602993-001 However, when I search the hp parts website for those two part numbers, they both show up as single band WLAN modules. I know there's a BIOS whitelist for my particular hp laptop that only allows hp approved WLAN modules to be used with the laptop. I know I could go the route of getting a USB dual band capable wifi adapter, but I'd prefer to keep the USB ports on my laptop freed up I'm getting the feeling that there aren't any dual band WLAN modules available for my hp laptop. Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi: Looking at the service manual for your notebook I see a few mistakes... The Atheros and Realtek cards are definitely mislabeled in the manual as dual band (a/b/g/n) cards. They are only single band cards. But the Intel WiFi Link 5100 should be a dual band card, so i think that is mislabled and should be an a/b/g/n card. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/wifi-link-5100-brief.pdf Unfortunately, the Intel Wifi Link 5100 wlan card will not work in your particular model because it has AMD hardware. The Intel cards will only work in notebooks with an Intel processor and chipset. So, as I see it, you cannot install an internal dual band wlan card in your notebook because of the BIOS whitelist.

Hi, Is there a dual band wireless adapter I can put in my Pavilion dv6 (product # A3E86AAR#ABA)? The current adapter installed (Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b|g|n WiFi Adapter) doesn't work very good and is not compatible with 5 GHz. If there is one available how do I make sure I buy the correct/compatible model/part number? Thanks,Brad

Ok so i have a shot in the dark question, I am not sure on what parts are avalable for this laptop. I just picked this up on a trade and so far has been a pretty decent little machine. It has stock 2.4ghz wifi, which i know is pretty standard. My question is, is there a different internal wifi card i can replace the stock on with that will give me access to both 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz. I have been considering going the usb adapter route for both wifi bands but would like to keep some usb ports avalable without needing to get a small hub. Any info would be Appreciated! Thanks

Hi: Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593667 Unfortunately the 3 supported wireless cards listed in chapter 3 are all single band cards. Back when your notebook was produced, HP had a BIOS whitelist which prevents any other wlan card from working other than the ones listed in the service manual.

Just want to add to the compatability discussion....... I just successfully replaced stock  RTL3290 adapter in my HP Pavilion n-010dx X360 Win10 64-bit (ver.1607) with an Intel AC-7260.  I added a second antenna to inside of the laptop display chassis and the card connected to  my SonicWall TZ-217 Wireless N NSA at 300mbps without any fuss. Bluetooth 4.0 works flawlessly with my Jabra STEALTH (v.1.25.0.1) headset (headphone and microphone).  Using the stock HP BIOS (updated) and Intel drivers BT_19.10.1635_64_Win10 (64 bit) & Wireless_19.10.0_PROSet64_Win10.  Speedtest.net pulls 51.51/5.42 on my 50/5 connection. Totally screams. Have fun!

OK, this is my first time being a part of or using a tech related forum so here it goes:

I'm trying to help save a neighbor some money by fixing their wireless network.

WNDR3700 Dual band Netgear router.

2.4ghz wireless b/g/n with enabled SSID broadcast, channel=auto, mode set to 130Mbps
WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES. wireless isolation is not enabled.

5Ghz wireless a/n enabled SSID broadcast, channel = 44, Mode is up to 300Mbps
No security encription. (i know...bad, but the lady has lots of kids and family members coming
and going from the house so she doesn't want one encripted). Video network enabled

Both Radio frequencies are enabled, fragment and CTS/RTS set to max

WPS settings = keep existing.

IPv6 not enabled, No repeating is enabled, No guest networks are enabled(however ssid broadcast is enabled for guest profile 1)
The problem, and reason for fixing the problem is that the 2.4 Ghz band light on the router is ON however the SSID is not being seen by any client in the house. the netgear interface says it is on and working. the neighbor needs the 2.4ghz band to work because the printer is wireless and will only recognize 2.4Ghz SSIDs. Also they have older nintendo DS clients they would like to use on the network.

During the day the 5 Ghz band works with very seldom (1-2) disconnects while the 2.4 Ghz band wont be visible to any device. in the evening both bands will come online, and very often will every computer get disconnected from either, the 5Ghz band wi... Read more

Hi there!

So about 2 months ago, I purchased the AC53 when I moved in to a house share.
We have Virgin Media SuperHub that does both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
When I installed it, it worked fine and connected excellently to the 5G band, a few days ago however the 5G connection disappeared off my list and now it always connects me to the 2.4ghz band.

Tried resetting my SuperHub and re-installing the drivers and software utility for the AC53 but alas it doesn't show. My phone however can find and connect to the 5G band.

I'm a bit confused as where to go from here!

Any help would be much appreciated!

After re-installing you can't connect at all or just only connect to 2.4?

Can you run ipconfig /all and post back the results.
Click Start, in the search box type cmd, under programs right click on cmd and select "Run as Administrator".
In the command prompt window type ipconfig /all and press enter.
Next right click within the command prompt and select "Select All" press enter.
Paste the results back in this thread.

N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400.

I am trying to get a signal out in my garage at the opposite end of my router location. I am getting 1 bar and "poor" signal. I downloaded inSSIDer to analyse my signal and I notice that my "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" is not broadcasting anything. The checkbox for "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked.

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it seems to me that if it is a dual band that I should be seeing 2 different signals, right?

All I see is this: Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)

I have attached screenshot of my settings

Can someone help me out with this? Thanks, Joe

My Billion BiPAC 7800VDOX Dual Band Wireless VoIP ADSL2+ Router has two bands:  2.4GHz and 5GHz.  and is wirelessly connected to my laptop OMEN by HP Laptop PC  17-w007tx.  It always shows as connected via 5GHz band only.  My laptop also shows 5GHz band only in the list of available networks;  2.4GH does not show up in the list of available networks.  It is not so in my other laptop which is also connected to the same router and that laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks.  Thus, I can choose to connect to any of the two bands as per my choice. I have tested the router and it is working perfectly; there is nothing wrong with it.I wonder what can possibly be wrong in my OMEN laptop that it does not show both the bands which it should. At times, when I click to open the list of available networks, 2.4GHz may appear momentarily only and then disappears; thus I can not choose it for connection. I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue so that my OMEN laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks so as to choose either one for connection.

I am developing a product that requires a cheap way to extract audio from a PC via USB. I've developed a circuit that uses a philips IC, and it works well, but the end product will be more expensive than I would like it to be. The option that I am considering is to use one of the cheap-o USB sound cards that are all over amazon.com. The devices have a USB plug on one end, and (2) 1/18" audio jacks on the other end. When it's plugged into a computer with a recent OS, it is automatically detected as an audio I/O device.

I can make it work as is, and I like the idea of using this because it is cheap, the manufacturer has already worked out the driver issues, etc. What i don't like is the fact that all of these devices that I've seen have a microphone/line in jack. I'd like to find one that does not have this feature, cause when the device is plugged in, I don't want the computer to think that there is an additional/available input device (since it will not be usable in my particular application).

Does anybody know of a similar device that only has audio output (and NO audio input capability)???

Thanks

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

I have 100mbps fibre internet at home and since this laptop is equiped with Broadcom BCM43142 802.11b/g/n Wireless Network Adapter, i usually get 40-50mbps, which is not allowing me to fully utilize my internet speed due to the wifi n standard. So I was wondering if this model(d045tu) can be upgraded to a wifi ac WLAN module. And if so, which model is compatible? Thanks!!

A:Upgrading WLAN module

Yes your laptop is very new so there is no problem with the HP whitelist which existed until about 3 years ago. You can install this alternate wi-fi card: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter 793840-005 You could actually install any wireless card of the right form factor but the Intel 7265ac alternate HP part is probably the best wireless adapter on the market in that form factor.  https://www.amazon.com/Intel-7265NGW-Wireless-Bluetooth-Interface/dp/B00TKO47XI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&q... The above part has a different HP Part number but is the same device. The actual 793840-005 part number is $60 through amazon.com and this one is $24.  Here is the Service Manual: Manual See p. 31 for "how-to". You have to remove the back cover. This does place the warranty in jeopardy. Post back with any more questions. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello, I plan on upgrading my WLAN driver for my laptop, so I opened up the service door and saw my WLAN module only had one antenna connected to a terminal, the other terminal is missing an antenna. Is this normal for my laptop model? Will I need two antennas for my new driver to work? I ordered the new driver online and don't know if it'll come with antennas. The current driver is: Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi adapter The driver I'm upgrading to is: Ralink RT3290LE 802.11 bgn 1×1 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 combo adapter Thanks in advance

A:Only one antenna in WLAN module

Hi: Yes, unfortunately, it is normal with many HP notebooks that have single band wlan cards, and while it is not listed, you probably should have ordered the Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo AdapterHP part # 792610-005  That card also only needs one antenna like the 8188EE I don't believe the Ralink 3290 is going to work that well with only one antenna. You will not be getting an extra antenna to go with the card. Adding a 2nd antenna would require complete disassembly of the notebook, including the display panel area, in order to properly route the antenna. So if the RT3290 doesn't work to your liking, try the Realtek bluetooth card.

Hello! First post here, did some searching and I couldn't seem to find an answer. I then have to restart my laptop to regain my connection. All drivers are updated, virus scans have been run multiple times. Event Viewer gives me this error:

Hello, I have HP ProBook 450 G3 with Intel® 3165 wireless card. This card is pretty bad, i had the same one in another laptop and after replacing it with card from boardcom my network latency and stability increased drasticly. I would like to do the same with my HP. On the internet, i found that HP uses whitelist for wireless cards, this white list does not limit only the models of cards i can use but these cards have to be bought from HP, apparently if the same card is bought anywhere else, it will propably be blocked by bios whitelist. I looked through the service manual, and i found list of supported card, but this list is outdated. Not even the card that the laptop came with is on that list. Link to the service manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04825517) Can you please provide list of suitable wifi cards for my laptop (part numbers)? Hi: HP removed the BIOS whitelists in late 2013. If your notebook has two antennas attached to the current wireless card (or one attached, and a spare), you should be able to use any dual band wireless card you want of the same form factor (M.2 or HMC as applicable).

Hi! I encountered this message on Startup after restarting my PC as my internet hang-up: "The system has detected that a Wireless module installed in the system is not supported and disabled it. WLAN Module ID (702)"  After this, true enough, I cannot connect via WiFi anymore as my wireless adapter is not viewable in the settings menu. Please help on how to enable it again. Additional info: I haven't changed any parts on this equipment and is all stock since I received this as a work laptop. Thanks.

I have been thinking about upgrading the WLAN module in my laptop and would welcome any recommendations that you may have. The current module is the Realtek 87323BE. Ideally, the new module would have support for the 5GHZ band and 802.11ac. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

So I have bought a new wireless adapter as my old one had very poor strength and I am really impressed with the signal on this one but after a while it disconnects and then it says there are no available connections. I have to restart the adapter to get it to work again.

If I am gaming online and this happens it's not very helpful and I could really do with fixing it.

The adapter is the TL-WN822N by TP-Link.

I have checked the compatibility on the vendor list and it is compatible. I installed the drivers off their website which were 64bit.

I am running Windows 8 64bit.

Hi everybody,

I have Windows 7 pro (x64)
I am trying to understand why am I getting this error in Event Viewer.

WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start.
Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll
Error Code: 126

Have this error couple times a day, every day, since the OS was installed (which was not long ago).
It looks like it doesn't affect on anything, but I am just curious, what is causing this error to show up in events.

---

I've read this article, and did like they said, and it didn't remove the error.

Due to poor performance of the supplied BCM43142 WLAN module under linux for a new laptop, we are considering replacing it with an Intel module. According to the service manual (page 31), it seems to indicate that two potential modules are suitable:793840-005  -  Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter792608-005  -  Broadcom BCM943142 802.11 bgn 1×1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter So i just wanted to double-check if it is possible to replace the Broadcom BCM43142 (792608-005) with the Intel 7265 (793840-005) ? And what are the warranty implications of doing this? (i will of course purchase an official HP spare part)  Regards

Hi All,

New to the forum, so hello.

Got given this laptop by my son-in-law as he got a new one. Fitted a hybrid drive and a clean install of Win 10 without too many issues. I wanted to upgrade the centrino wifi+bluetooth to a newer card and use my 5GHz at home because 2.4Ghz is too slow. Got the card, installed it - default drivers were installed and it said device was working, but no connection.

Did some reading online - tried the tape over pin 20 but that didn't seem to work. Couldn't find anyway of turning the wifi adaptor on.

I've put the old card back in for now. The Fn key works with the old one, but didn't work with the new one, so I'm wondering if this is the "whitelist" issue where this new card isn't supported in the BIOS. As far as I could tell the new card is the same form factor etc so should work.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can someone explain in layman's terms how a dual band wireless router works? I've spent months reading various articles and websites, and I still just don't get it. I read on one site (can't remember which) that dual band routers require special wireless adapters, but I've never seen a dual band wireless adapter, so I doubt the validity of that. Is a dual band wireless router good for splitting video streaming from regular web surfing?

If someone knows of a good website that offers a clear and accurate explanation, please post a link. Don't post links from random Google searches. I've read most of them. If they helped, I wouldn't be posting here.

I got a new d-link wireless N router the other day which solved most of my slow internet problems. It is a dual band router and supports 5ghz but my current network card is only 2.4ghz. I'm in an apartment complex so I figure if I run it on the 5ghz band I will get much less interference from other people's wifi. Only problem is I cant really find a dual band pci card??? The only one i've found is a Linksys WMP600N. I was hoping there were some more options out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry, but like you this is the only one that I could find with a PCI interface. They are a reputable manufacturer though.

I have a Linksys WRT600N router connected to my XP computer, and a Linksys WMP600N PCI adapter in my Windows 7 computer, and both are enabled with Dual-Band. I can connect to my 2.4GHz and my 5GHz connections just fine on my Windows 7 computer. My question is, can I connect to both at the same time to speed up my connection, and how?

A:Simultaneous Dual-Band operation

I dont believe you can connect to both at the same time. Your computer should just connect to the best available connection. Why do you ask, are you not getting good connection speed from the wrt600n or just curious.

Hi,
I have just bought a D-Link DWA-160 A2 network adapter and it is really slow.
I have been using a D-Link DWA-125 N 150 A2 for a while now and it is faster, getting a higher signal.

My new network adapter is suppose to be faster.
The only thing I can think of is that the software coming with the adapter never installed. I get an error: Wireless adapter not found! Please insert the adapter now.
Thing is, the driver is installed and I can surf the internet.

I did some speedtest net tests and I see that my DWA-125 A2 is faster. How can this be possible?

Thank you!
