Lenovo IdeaPad u310 touch: broken screen.

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad u310 touch: broken screen.

Hello you all,So I'm having this issue with my computer, I bought my laptop in 2014 and I got the screen broken due to malfunction of the hinges. I'd like to know if any of you know where I can get new screen assembly for my laptop. I know the warranty is really out of place, I tried to contact the Lenovo support in Brazil and they told me there's no part replacement available.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Lenovo,I'm a business management student from India.I purchased Lenovo Ideapad U310 Touch model this May from the US (through Amazon) and have been using it without any issues till the last month. Last month I noticed that the hinge had developed tension and there was additional pressure on the lid or the screen area while closing. I thought it would be a routine issue and took it to my college's hardware repair center, but they suggested I handle the issue via Lenovo Support as it required opening the laptop. When I checked Lenovo support through customer care (India), I was told that the U series is not covered by International warranty. But I checked if the Lenovo service center would still have a look at the issue, to which I was told that it would be chargeable. I thought it was fair enough and took the laptop to the service center in Jamshedpur this afternoon. To my utter disappointment, the technician was unable to open up the area near the screen (where the problem was supposedly), but he also got the screen cracked while trying to. Now I'm left with a laptop that cannot be used as even though the screen display is intact, the touch sensors detect screen touch near the cracked area and keep the cursor rooted to that point. Also, the issue with the hinge could also not be fixed. All to add to the woes, I will have to manage a few days (don't know how many) without a laptop and also shell out the expense from my pocket! Now my question is, will the screen for Ideapad... Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

Not sure whats ging on with my Ideapad. I can see that the power is working but the screen remains BLACK. I think it may be the display card, but I'm not sure. Can anyone point me in the right direction to a good Lenovo Repair store close to Philadelphia? Any advise would help! Thank you!

A:DISPLAY PROBLEM Ideapad U310 Touch

Hi DILEMMA123,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As I understand that you are facing issues with your Ideapad U310 touch display, however when you power on the unit there is power but  no display and the screen remains black.

Here are the troubleshooting steps that you may try
Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help. - Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again. - If this will not work, do test the AC adapter if it's working properly. Remove the battery and power the laptop with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will boot up or not. do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will work or not. - Proceed with reseating the RAM's if trying a different AC adapter will not work, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly. - If it will still not work, connect an external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it. If there's a display on the external monitor that could mean that the problem is the built in display.  - But if there's still no display on the external monitor that means the problem lies in the motherboard.
In addition, here are further service centers that you can also check
I hope the above information helps.

Hello, I have had a U310 Touch for over three years now and I have recently discovered that after the upgrade to Windows 10 the BIOS is now nonexistant. When I run the command prompt to identify the BIOS it is blank where it should show which version I have. When pressing the NOVO button I receive the option screen to boot to BIOS or Boot Management screen but no matter what option I select the OS boots regularly. Is there any known solutions for this. When searching the drivers and downloads section with the computer in question no BIOS files appear. Thanks

Hello, I recently installed a new SSD in my U310 laptop and put Windows 10 on it. Everything was working fine until I ran the Bios update found on Lenovo's website located here. After the update installed without any error messages, the machine rebooted and I was left looking at the boot menu. I selected the ssd and the screen went blank for 15 seconds or so and then the boot menu appeared again. I've restarted the machine several times, tried booting from usb, and even tried putting the old hard drive back in but I just keep getting the blank screen and then back to the boot menu. Nothings working. When the computer first starts it doesn't show a lenovo logo or any text. Because of this it seems that I'm unable to get into the bios too. What do I do here? The laptop is basically bricked it seems.

A:Suggestions for replacement of my U310 Touch Ideapad (Ultrabook)

Hi TC22 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can consider LCD panel replacement first since performance and functions are ok.
This can be considered specially if connecting to an external monitor shows normal.

Using the part number to search for parts from the parts looks up page for pricing and availability.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi All, My Lenovo U310 Ideapad Has been Having speaker problems, The Headphones are working fine but the Inbuilt speakers that are Awefully situated inbetween the hinge and the base of the Screen aren't working. First i thought that this was a issue with the headphone jack assembly that might have cut off the internal speaker circuit due to improper removal of the headphone jack but thats not true because I noticed that Its an Issue with the angle I keep my Screen's tilt. On moving the screen to any angle above 90 or 100 degrees the speakers get cut of and are activated once its below 80 degrees. I am a bit worried any words on that????? regards, raisedadead. THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!!!

I, too, have had the same issue that users in this thread are reporting. I have a U410 bought in the spring of 2014. There was a break at the hinge and the screen is separating from the lid. I've never dropped the computer, this issue arose one day after general, every day use. I've attached photos of the issue for others to reference.

Hey all, sorry if this is the wrong spot for my post but I'm new around here. Yesterday, my Ideapad's battery malfunctioned when it was around 20%, and when I tried to plug in the ac adapter, it wouldn't charge. Eventually the battery ran down to 0, and now I'm stuck with a dead battery and laptop. Is there anything I can do? I initially thought it was the charger, and I ordered a new one, but even the new charger won't charge it either.

Bought the S410p Touch mid 2014, and the left hinge of the notebook broke off late 2015. Prior to the hinge bending and coming off, cracking sounds were often heard when I open/close the notebook. It even caused a visible crack behind the screen and I have honestly never dropped or damaged the laptop. The touch screen is currently not working and I'm pretty sure its due to the crack that affected the screen. Frustrated, I went to the nearest Lenovo Technical Support to try to get this fixed under warranty but they insisted it was physical damage and did not approve my laptop under the warranty conditions.  Extremely frustrated and disappointed. Anyone else having this issue with their S410p Touch Ideapad?

A:S410p Touch Ideapad Hinge broken

Did you have any luck with this issue?  I had the same issue with my U530.  The hinge kept getting harder and harder to open and evenually, the top of the laptop just broke off.  It was out of warranty by 2 months when it happened so I didn't do anything about it until I saw several other people who had similar issues.

Because my computer is out of  warrenty for over a year the contact I had with Lenovo has proved to be useless.  I called on Monday 4/25/16 to be told that they could replace the hinges a one time courtesy repair because the hinges they put into this unit were not strong enough to hold the display and they were replacing them with new ones.  I was told I would be called in 3 business days for instructions on shipping.  Upday today 4/28/16 phone call from Lenovo telling me that because they don't make those parts anymore that I would not be eligible for any repairs.  She said the only thing they could do is offer me a 15% on the back end of a purchase from Lenovo for a new computer.  This was totally unacceptable to me and I told the woman I was livid to think a company this large could not make this right...If they knew these hinges were defective every single person should have been compensated for this defect.  Personally I will never buy another Lenovo product as long as I breathe!  Now to spend another $900.00 for a new computer is a HUGE expense.

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

Hello So straight to the point. My Lenovo IdeaPad y70-70 touch (IPS 1080p screen) had a little accident and now touch screen is shattered into pieces. Well it's still functioning but it's kind of difficult to see through.   I was wondering if any 17 inch Lenovo laptops share the same touch screen part AKA digitizer? And another option would be.  To use plastic screen bezel from non touch version of Lenovo y70 (?or other compatible model?) after separating IPS panel from digitizer.  Also known part numbers or suggestions and where can I get them would be very welcome.

Hi - new to the forum but I see others have had this problem.  The laptop has suddenly developed this fault (left hand side of the screen/hinge coming away).  We  have had the laptop just over two years (John Lewis purchase so we are over the warranty perioid).  I am trying to find out if it can be repaired and who I should take it or send it to. Have approached local computer company (independent) and a company at this website http://www.lenovorepairer.co.uk/ to see if either can do it and how much it would cost.  Has anyone asked Lenovo directly to do repair and can it be done? There seems to be a general fault which others have experienced and commented on - our laptop has been used very carefully so really disappointed with this fault.  I doubt I would get any joy from complaining to Lenovo but is it worth a try?Any comments and experiences welcome.

I bought the laptop in April 2016. Started having issues closing the laptop (made grating noise and felt like something inside was crunching) and screen around the hinge sortof came off around March 2017. Was in middle of submitting my PhD thesis so couldn't take it to repair rightaway. A week later, the plastic part outside the hinge broke off and hinge completely came off. Took it to JB HI-Fi on 14th April 2017 and they sent pictures to Lenovo. There are no signs of external damage, laptop has been used and taken care of properly and Lenovo refuses to cover it under warranty. Absolutely unacapptable!! Called Lenovo customer support on 5th May, technician asked for addtional photos of the hinge from all angles to have another assessment. Currently awaiting a call back from that assessment. Looked at other blogs and saw other people having same issues with Lenovo IDeapad 100. Will be reporting the issue to consumer protection affairs as clearly not an issue associated with mishandling or external damage. So frustrating that less than a year and have to deal with this.

Hi all, I've had this laptop two mobnths. On opening it one morning, two pins fell out of the hinge connecting the monitor to the keyboard. A further two fell out from the other side shorty afterwards. The monitor is now separating from the keyboard, almost totally on the left hand side. The pressure of whatever is going on is causing the screen casing to separate from the screen also. The screen can no longer stay upright, nor can it be closed. The hinge is completely broken.  I've made several attempts to contact lonovo to ask for help. the first by telephone. I was told I needed to register with the support department (as well as being registered as a lenovo customer) in order to receive support. The technician said she would send me an email of questions that I would need to answer in order to register before she could help me - that email never arrived. I have submitted multiple requests through the support sections of the website but no confimation that they have gone through - the screen just refreshes as if nothing has happened, and when I check the system has no record of my problem. That is really annoying, if you ask me. and now, for the piece de resistance: 4) the AC converter is no longer working. Where do I find an AC converter for Lenovo Ideapad S510p Touch model # WB12764324? In the meantime, I'm borrowing a Lenovo Thinkpad AC converter. I need to return it soon, so I need a new AC converter for my Ideapad SOON. Thanks, much.

Sorry to hear of your problems.  Replacement chargers for the S510p are widely available on eBay, Amazon or at retailers like Walmart and NewEgg for name a few.

Your help is truly appreciated -David

Please Help!  My Lenovo Ideapad s210 Touch Came with Windows 8.  Whenever it went to sleep I had to logn with a password and at some point I was asked to make a Windows online account with a more complicated password & that became the password I had to use to Login to my computer a lot!.  I found out I could select Bypass the Login Screen & that worked great.  Soon the computer started bugging me about upgrading to Windows 8.1 & I thought it might be less buggy & faster so I upgraded to Windows 8.1.  Once installed it seemed to work ok then at some point it installed a lot of updates & needed to restart the computer in 16 minutes so I restarted it.  It came back on at the login screen.  I put in my password & it said it was incorrect.  I tried a few more times, even the old password, nogo.  I went online on my tablet & found others have had that problem with Windows 8.1 & 8.  I tried changing my Microsoft password & it didn't work.  I turned it off for a few days &  tried it and when I press power the button lights up but the screen stays dark. happened when I pressed power except the button lights up.  What can I do?  Is there an external reset?  I am in desperate need of help asap.  I am job hunting without a computer.   Thank you, Julie D.
