Preferred Solution: I need HELP. my computer is completely out of wack -hoping someone can help me.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: I need HELP. my computer is completely out of wack -hoping someone can help me.

Download BlueScreenView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program. When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items. Save the report as BSOD.txt.Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply. The fact that your system reboots routinely...would seem to not indicate a malware situation, IMO. But we will examine that possibility later, depending on what we find out in your next post. For the time being, I will leave your HJT data intact, rather than removing such. HJT logs are handled in one of our malware forums...rather than move you to one of those, a quick exploration of possibly system issues seems expedient in your case.Louis

Hi Everyone,I'm new to this site and I was hoping that I could get some help with my computer. My apologies ahead of time but I'm not the most computer literate person so if my topic title/introduction have been done wrong please let me know. Here's some background on the situation: my Windows Update will download the update but fail to install (Update KB982158). The second problem that I seem to be having with my internet--When looking at the sending/receiving activity monitor the sending activity is extremely high and is increasing at an abnormally fast rate. My more computer literate friend said that it seems as if something is using my computer to attack another.I've run both the DDS tool as well as the GMER tool, however when running the latter my computer came up with the blue screen, dumped all of my memory and I wasn't able to generate a log. After posting I will try and run it again and update this post accordingly. Hi cowboy5345.

The crash dump is not pointing to anything clearly, but it gives a hint of a memory corruption. It either may be a failing physical RAM, or it may be some driver passing bad information toe the memory.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of en... Read more

I've gone through the process of cleaning my computer here at BleepingComputer and recently my friend's computer has been acting weird on them so hopefully you guys can help us out.

Symptoms: RUNDLL errors on start up and Google redirections.
- When trying to access a legitimate antispyware website through Google results it redirects to a rogueware website. Some of the sites affected are: www.superantispyware.com (redirects to stopzilla), www.avira.com (redirects to security something), www.safer-networking.org (redirects to search-destroy-protect).

Steps taken before posting: Installing/Running: MBAM, SUPERAntiSpyware, SB S&D, and Avira AntiVir

All programs detected and removed infections. There were over 1,000 tracking cookies. And traces of Virtumonde (Vundo).
I'm thinking this computer isn't fully clean.

**This computer's memory hasn't been backed up and also doesn't have a recovery console.

This computer had LimeWire installed I've uninstalled that. I've updated Java and Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash.

I'd also like to put a third party firewall on their computer COMODO.

We'll be awaiting further instruction, thank you!

Hi.
I dont even know the brand of my desktop except that it is a 3.0ghz 512mb ram and 169gb hard disk. NOOB Huh?
So my comp usually works fine and fast but If i use it for more that eight hours a day (which i usually do) It does not boot up the next day? I mean the power light comes on but the blinking prossesor light is not on and the keyboard lights dont flash? Or sometimes it boots up to the wondows screem and then restarts doing the same thing? Is is a hardware problem. (I have tried numerous virus scans etc)

Please help. And is it bad to keep the comp running for hours on end?

Thanks and sorry for the typos

A:Help with computer Login. Hoping this is the right place to post.

I had a similar problem once and I was advised by several people to format and reinstall my OS. It actually did the trick. I know it sounds like an extreme fix, but it is almost guaranteed to sort it once and for all. Otherwise, you'll spend months trying to find the perfect answer like I did and it just won't work, or you will constantly have that awful feeling of never knowing if your computer will start correctly or not every time you turn it on.

Backup your important files to several DVDs or a portable HDD and use your XP disc to do a clean install. You'll be so happy you did, believe me.

Also, about leaving your computing running for hours on end - Here's some interesting reading.

Hello Win 7 forums! I recently get my new computer, as my old one was as shitty as hell. I was hoping to transfer my winRAR data/settings (I failed to find a winRAR forum, don't think there is one) By data i mean like the archive configurations, as i would make several sfx archives for people (see Easy Servers (Bukkit)(Instructions)(Plugins)(No-WARNING&#33 - Minecraft Forum - Page 2 for my work) I mean the little drop-down-box which has default and anything you add in there, i added a quite a few entries and would appreciate having the data moved over rather then me re-typing everything. Anyone who can help with this would be a big help, and would help my project grow!

A:Got new computer, hoping to move over winRAR data/settings

You could try typing
%appdata%
In the start bar search box and see if any folders located there look like they belong to winrar.
Programs very often keep their settings in that location.
It's not a place you want to be messing around in though, so just copy the folder and get back out.

There is a winrar folder there on my system but it is empty.
I don't actually use winrar though I use universal extractor that just has some elements of winrar.

Hi. This is gonna sound odd but every time I move my mouse real fast it goes out of control. If I don't move the mouse the cursor stays but with one little twitch and it is half-way across the screen again. This also tends to happen in Linux but Win2k is the worst. If I don't move it for about 3 seconds it goes back to normal until I move it fast again. And I am not even moving it that fast!!! Please help. Thank you.

I recently changed hardware on my pc. I did not uninstall or change anything about my hard drive, but when using it in the new pc, it kept telling me to activate windows. This was strange, never happened to me before so why now. So i go through so much
trouble trying to fix it and nothing worked. Even in settings under activation blah blah, it still wouldn't let me activate because "the servers were down". ok. So i call Microsoft support, and he keeps trying to get me to repurchase windows 10.
No. Bad customer service  rep. He did not help at all just made me do everything i already did and  when it said the servers were down, he told me its because i don't have a legit license. I downloaded windows 10 when it was free in 2016 or whenever.
So i never got a product key. So I used to windows 10 installer tool and it seemed to work, the watermark was gone. but later that day when i came home it was back. Then i tried the activation again and it worked. This was incredibly frustrating and annoying.
so i wanted to leave negative feedback to windows/microsoft. But i dont have the feedback hub, so i go to windows store and try to search bnut the search function doesnt work. I dont know why i thought any other windows app would be easy to use after everything
i just experienced. I have no question. This isnt about windows 8. This is the only place i found to try to tell microsoft anything. so tedious and annoying. yuck.

Hi guys! For a while now, the volume on certain websites has been messed up for me and I've tried everything and have come to a conclusion that maybe something's wrong, so I did a virus scan and then all of a sudden this message from McAffee started popping up:

The file C:/System Volume Information\_restore{129201FA-B0AC-49B3-96B2-DEB8B91E727B\RP249\A0048079.dll could not be cleaned. Please delete the infected file.

I couldn't find the file, but if it's infected I need to delete it, maybe that is what is causing problems. I honestly don't know. Here is my HJT log.

this is on a windows 2000 server machine.
2 Scsi drives.
The 2nd scsi drive is a 13 gig drive, and when i go into it and select all and properties to see the total amount of the files size, i get a total of 2.5 gigs. Now i have the option to show all hidden and even system files, so everything should be showing. When i look at teh free space left, it says theres only 1.5 gigs left. I'm losing 9 gigs somehow and i don't know where? The other drive is reading the free disk space fine, but this one has me worried.
I've ran scandisk, defrag, 2 anti-virus programs and still nothing.
Has anyone delt with any of this??

Thx

With MBAM I also found "Malware.Trace" and "Broken.OpenCommand".

I haven't done full scans because they freeze and take a long time. Other things freeze also and sometimes it says windows explorer isn't responding and it restarts it. Even though I removed the above viruses my computer still behaves like this.

I have 25 photos in an album that I had to sort out and number, then renumber as I had to delete some.
Everything works fine until I get to number 16_sun city . Then for some reason I can't figure out, it skips from number 16 to number 20. After that things go completely nuts as the pix aren't viewable in proper order. 20 is followed by 18 for example.

I did a restart of pc knowing it wouldn't do anything. It didn't. I'm stumped.
Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone know a solution? Hope so.

Thank You

JayD

OK, I hope you guys can help me out here.

My pc caught a few viruses about 3 weeks ago, and I done a really bad job of getting rid of them. After a while my pc suddenely just locked up, and crashed to a blue screen full text, saying something like "windows had to shut down the computer to prevent further damage"

I turned it off and turned it back on, but when it got to the windows loading screen it changed back to the same blue screen, this time It read the same but also said "Unmountable boot volume"

It stayed like this for a while and it wouldn't get past this error, so I eventually decided to try and re format the pc.

I loaded my Windows XP cd into my drive, and booted it, I get to the screen asking me if I want to repair or continue a fresh install. I choose the fresh install option in hope of deleting all files on my hard drive and installing a fresh copy of windows on it.

But it then comes up with the error "Could not find Windows XP disk"

After that I tried again, this time choosing the option from the cd to "repair" and it took me to the recovery console. I typed in the command CHKDSK /R, but it came up with the an error reading something like this:
"Cannot complete function, hard drive is damaged and unrecoverable"

(BY the way, all the quotes and error messages i've typed above aren't 100% accurate as I'm typing them from memory but they're all similar

So I can't load up my pc, I can... Read more

Well the first thing to check would be your BIOS. Your harddrive should show up first in the POST (Power On Self Test) with the model #.

If you enter the BIOS (Basic Input Output System), usually by pressing delete during the POST, it should have more detailed information about your harddrive.

If your harddrive is not showing up in the POST or BIOS, I would first recommend checking all the cable connections to the harddrive. The cables you would be looking for are the ribbon cable and the power cable.

Check that and post back, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask before digging around inside your PC.

I will try to give as much detail as possible(I am new to this so will try to follow the guidelines) firstly just to let you know my computer does not have much disk space i am not sure if this has caused the problem but have ordered a potable hard drive so i can move some of my files when it comes.
when i started my computer this morning after entering my password it showed a blue screen which stated it was loading my personalized setting (not the usual one i get) it then said it could not do something (sorry to be vague but cant remember the actual words) I thought it could be a space issue so decided to delete some photos. the home screen has changed completely and when i tried to open my documents it said the path didnt exist, i then went through my computer and found my photos. i pressed delete but they didnt go to recycle bin as it is empty, i restarted the computer and the same thing happened. i opened internet explorer and it said welcome to internet explorer 8. my homepage and all my settings are different. Am i being daft and this is just an update???

Hello molliemoo060304 and welcome,

If you look at this file path, you will see that another user was created by Windows:

Quote:

c:\documents and settings\[B]administrator.your-44c319464b.000[/B

]This typically happens when there is a problem loading your existing user profile.

This is most likely a problem you'll need to post in the Windows XP Support section, but before we do, is there any reason you suspect malware to be the cause? Did any of your onboard tools detect anything prior to this happening?

Also, please run dds.scr again. It produces 2 reports - I would like to see the 2nd report it produces, named Attach.txt. Please post that in your next reply.

I was helping my friend's father the other night. He is in his mid seventies and complained that all of a sudden he was getting all these pop up ads and couldn't even use his computer because it was so frustrating. He has had the computer for a little over a year and has never downloaded any updates. I figured I would download the microsoft updates to the computer and the security patches. There were about 25 security downloads, the last 6 which were the security pack. Everything downloaded and it was installing fine until it came to the second to last one, part of the pack when a blue screen came up and said there was something potentially dangerous for the computer. It said to re-boot and see if it appears again. I re-booted and was not able to get back into the computer at all, it completely crashed. I tried to re-boot in the safe mode and it wouldn't. The only thing that it allowed me to do was hit F2 & F12. You can go into those menus but nothing I did in them got me back into Windows. The windows logo pops up when you first turn it on and then right from there the screen just goes blank and I get absolutely nothing. The guy that owns it is older, so I don't think he would download anything questionable, he usually just uses it to check stock quotes and financial information. Any suggestions?

Save your Hijackthis log to a floppy disk and post it via your work PC.If you think you are infected submit a hijackthis log to the HJT Forum. How to submit a hijackthis logDownload HijackthisTry running the following from safe mode (Getting to safe-mode) Sysclean you'll also need the virus template file from here lpt***.zip remember to extract the contents of the zip file into the same folder as Sysclean.comorDrWeb CureITorKASFX which is powered by the Kaspersky AV engine, you will need internet access to update it. If you haven't got net access in safe mode, update it before you use it.If your good with the command line also try Sophos Command Line scanner this command will scan all of your hdd's SAV32CLI.EXE -F -di -remove -dn -mbr -all -zip -p=avscanlog.txt and give you a log file to review afterwards. Also try installing and running A2 Free and Ewido again run from safe mode.I'd also run Spybot(Spybot Tutorial) and AdawareIf your using Win2K/XP run adaware/spybot from "safe mode with command prompt" If your using Win9x just run it from safe mode the command line options aren't needed..At the C:\ prompt type the following:-cd\C:\progra~1\spybot~1\spybotsd.exe /autocheck /autofixcd\C:\progra~1\lavasoft\ad-awa~1\ad-aware.exe

My pc for the last couple of weeks has been freezing randomly and quite frequently at that. I have checked the error logs and i couldn't find anything. I downloaded the burnintest software to test out my hardware and even switched OS. Eventually narrowed it down to either the video card or video drivers but this happens with windows 7 64bit and vista 64bit. The video drivers i have installed are the latest 195.62 drivers for both OS's even went back to older drivers and that didn't work maybe i just haven't gone back far enough i don't know. Im wondering if this is a hardware or software issue. Could it maybe be the hard drive even? Would appreciate the help.
My PC:
ASUS P6T6 Revolution
Intel Core i7 920
4GB Corsair RAM
250GB Western Digital. (about 2 years old now)
ASUS GeForce 295GTX
850 Watt Thermaltake XT

A:Computer locks up completely

It can be either hardware or software.

I'd disable the video card and see if the lock up disappears. If it does, then it's the video card. It is possible that it's the video driver but for the drivers for both Win7 and Vista to both be bad is unlikely (still possible) More likely it's the video card if isolated.

Not only can I not change the user login (maybe because it only recognises one user account) my password (old or new) isn't working either. I have absolutely no idea what I've done or how to fix it.

Hi,

I got infected with a very bad virus. HOT SEX, Error Cleaner, Privacy Protector, Spyware&Malware Protection icons appeared on my desktop while some windows were opening/closing from nowhere. I panicked and pushed the Restart button, and from now on, 10 seconds after the computer's startup, it freezes completely; I even hear the fan/HDD inside the computer case slow down. The mouse still works, but that's all.

Even if I try to boot in safe mode, when it comes the time to choose the safe mode, the keyboard no longer responds; enter, arrows, I cannot choose the mode.

Now, I'm on my Mac (thank god Macs exist) and still searching how to get rid of this ****.

I can't even run HijackThis! : ( I know that I'm in the forum "HijackThis Log Help", but since I can't run HijackThis, I post this here with the hope that someone will know a solution.

Hi guys:
I ran Kaspersky 2012 installation program and it started out fine until the end and then it said it had an error and shut down. I thought then that I should uninstall the Kaspersky 2011 before running the new version. After the uninstall, my computer gets to the screen the says Windows XP(its the screen right before it shows your user name, you click on the name and it says it's loading your personal settings.) I have tried it in safe mode also. I even tried to run the Windows XP installation disk and it doesn't see that either. I do have the recovery console available to me during boot up, but I'm not sure what to test or attempt a repair to?
Any ideas?
Thanks,

A:Computer won't boot completely?

Your description of the problem is just a little confusing.

When your computer is booting up, what does it do exactly? Freeze up, restart, etc?

Can you boot into safe-mode successfully?

Can you boot from the Windows CD and access the Repair/Recovery Console option?
