Sound issues with discord.

Q: Sound issues with discord.

I use the application discord to communicate with friends and for some reason my sound from my computer like youtube videos plays through discord. For whatever reason however this was not the case yesterday when i was at my families house. I had been there for months and had no problems but after coming back to my apartment the sounds start going through and i cant think of why. I am using the same computer and same setup only with an aditional monitor. any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Preferred Solution: Sound issues with discord.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My problem is as follows.

I want to play Tabletop audio which is a soundboard like website.
The issue is that it needs to be real-time action when the I press the button it needs to respond.
The audio should be fed to Discord which is an application like skype.
Also, I don't want feedback when I speak because, with some virtual cables and CheVolume, I managed to feed the audio from the browser to Discord, but when I speak there is an echo.
I used two accounts, one for me as a speaker and one as a bot sort of thing to play the tabletop audio sounds.

We are playing DnD so its important for it to be real-time and tabletop audio is really great for the soundboard.

I have a Blue Yeti Microphone, and it's quality only shows through within recording programs such as Audacity. How come my microphone quality is not the same standard when I talk on Skype, Discord and TeamSpeak? I have the settings modified for these programs so that it is at optimal settings, but the general quality of the microphone isn't heard. Although there is a difference between the quality of the Blue Yeti and my previous microphones, it sounds completely different from recording programs AND how it should sound as a high end microphone.

A:Sound Quality On Skype/Discord (Voice chat systems)

Quality relies on the amount of data throughput. Most chat programs place a priority on speed (ie: low latency) as opposed to quality, so the amount of data used for the audio stream are reduced.

As you noted, the quality of the mic is noticeable over your previous mic. So the mic quality isn't wasted.

Over the past few months I've periodically been hounded to try either Kik or Discord as a secondary means of communication between my online friends. However no offense to them intended, but I just don't trust anyone enough to use anything I thought was similar to Skype or social media. After finally researching them though I actually can't find anything wrong with. Apparently Discord is DDOS proof & Kik doesn't expose any personally identifiable information either, claiming to be a very secure messaging app. Although I know malicious attachments embedded within pics, videos or links could possibly be sent with either, here are my questions about that & more.

1: Is Discord or Kik really DDOS proof & how exactly do they go about hiding your IP when Skype still doesn't?

2: Is there a setting within Discord or Kik to automatically block images, videos, links or any other specified attachment yet still use the text & voice chat?

3: Are there any other security & privacy vulnerabilities with either app that I should be aware of before using?

A:Kik VS Discord Or Neither?

Discord has pretty poor stability and its application is literally a Chromium frame of the web client with a few extra features. Plus it isn't 100% end-to-end encrypted - servers are also just centralised, not actual servers that you install to your computer, which brings confusion. I really dislike Discord as a platform, it will disappear in some years just like every other proprietary trendy IM/VoIP service has done so. I have to use it because everyone I know is way too stubborn to try IRC or XMPP. Cannot say anything for Kik.

Here is my issue: I use the desktop app for Discord primarily. (Yes, I have Win 10, which was not a download but came pre-installed on my laptop.) I haven't had any issues with this until the 28th of April. My comp restarted &, upon trying to load Discord, it said it was installing update 1 of 1. Then it spits out the following error (error is posted below). I tried restarting my comp, but it didn't work. So I uninstalled Discord. But when I went to re-install it, it only got to a certain point & then spit out the same error. So I tried to look online for a solution. I found a video which I followed to delete the localapp folder & stop all the Discords through task manager. I did everything the video said to do except restart Discord because I couldn't. I couldn't even reinstall it. One site told me to pause my antivirus, which is keeping it from updating it said, but I don't know how to do that. So a friend of mine got on TeamViewer with me & tried to fix it. He ended up having to ask his tech support friend & they went through a series of steps to wipe Discord out completely & reinstall it. It worked great!... Until today. My comp decided to restart sometime today. When I loaded up Discord it said it was installing update 1 of 1. I thought 'Oh, no, not again,' but it went through & then said it was installing more updates (9 in total this time, not counting the 1). That went through but then said installing upda... Read more

Heyyo!

So i have recently been having a load of problems with audio in my discord. I am using a behringer soundcard, that i am both using for audio in and audio out.

So the wierd thing with this is that when i have restarted my PC, i go in to discord (and my audio settings) and see audio input from the "Line in" from the behringer soundcard. So, now discord is using the audio device and also blocks all the other sound out. I can't for say listen to music on soundcloud or watch youtube. It has basically taken control over the soundcard completely, and it is first until i go into the task manager and kill discord completely and restart say youtube, that i get audio output from my computer.

And the same with the opposite. When i start up without discord automatically starting, audio is coming out from my pc, but when i then start discord and try to check if audio is coming in from my mic and such, nothing is there. Now discord does not have access to the device.

Honestly, there is many repeating occasions in this so i apologize if i have put it any wrong, but i hope you people understand me here!

Worth notating is that i produce music with Fruity Loops 20, in which i have selected "BEHRINGER USB AUDIO" as my main audio device. I can then in the software use the two audio inputs it offers to record say a guitar or a microphone. Same as how i have used my mic to record, i use it in discord.

The main reason for that soundcard being bought was for the ... Read more

Hello,

Today my computer blue screened 6 times today. I've had no blue screens since I built my PC more than a year ago (not a single one). But recently its been causing major issues.

Some of the blue screens occurred whilst i had the League of Legends Client, Discord and Chrome open. Some occurred whilst the only thing i had open were Discord and Google Chrome (only tab was Twitch.tv).

All of my drivers are updated: Sound Drivers, Network Drivers, Graphics Drivers, System Drivers, Mouse and Keyboard. (Checked in Device Manager)

I ran a registry check and cleaned all registry errors.
I ran an anti-virus scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I ran an anti-malware scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I then uninstalled malware-bytes.
I ran a memory test (No Errors)
I ran a "sfc /scannow" in cmd.exe. (No integrity violations)

After all of those, it still blue screened.

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M92 or G1U3306 as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

Hey all,

This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows, could windows be preventing my audio card from working?

The speakers are the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 PC set, and I have tried two different sets of headphones, plus the sound is full of static and buzzing. I've also tried re-installing/updating my onboard sound driver, but that doesn't help. I do notice that when I connect my headphones to the speakers that the sound emitted from the speaker will lower by 25% but will not fully cut off. I'm also having issues with the front panel headphone jack on my computer case (Antec 1200 V3). The sound coming out of the headphones when connected to the front panel is filled with static and buzzing. I have tried re-grounding the front panel ground connector, but that didn't change anything. However, if I connect the headphones directly to the back of the computer, the sound works fine.

2)When watching Youtube videos each video has a hard time buffering. My speed is at 10 Mbps and it registers at that speed when I do a speedtest, plus all other websites work fine, it's just Youtube that I'm having a problem with. I've cleared the cache and tried using a different browser, but nothing helps.

I have also ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, neither yielded any harmful results.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is all part of the same problem but there are multiple things going on. On my laptop ( its an HP Pavilion DV6, with an intel core i3 CPU @ 2.20ghz, & 64 but operating system ) The only way i can get any sound to play is if I watch videos in my firefox browser. No sound will play when i use Chrome (which I prefer) or Itunes, or windows media player. The problem with watching videos in firefox is that there is about a 20 second delay before the video will play, and an error comes up to stop the plug in or continue. If you close out of that box the video will play but you will get the same delay every time it is paused and started again. Browsing in Chrome and playing videos from that browser there is absolutely no lag, its lightening fast, but you will not get any sound. Other simple programs ( Like solitaire) have the same lag, each card you click takes about 20 seconds for the move to actually take place. I've tried messing with my sound drivers to correct the audio issues but I am not sure if it is an audio issue, a flash player issue, or a combination. Any input?

I've seen this happen with the games I play recently. For example, in games like Battlefield 1942 and Black and White 2, some places showed "straight lines" from objects. At the top of the 3d static object in question, the straight lines go from there to the sky. There seems to be no end to that unless I get really close to that object.

As for the sound problem, I'm hearing static occur at random occasions. Any way to fix these?

Ok,Here is the issue with this sound card. First off it's a nice Diamond (great cards) Xtreme Sound 5.1. The problem I have with it is it's affected by certain videos. Youtube it plays fine.....until you go into Full Screen mode, then it's garbled...you can't make it out what anyone is saying during play back in F\S mode. Another problem I have is Encoding videos do the exact same thing!

Last night I downloaded a freeware program that was on my old box called "Panzera mp4 to avi converter 1.3" it's a great program. My Camera uses the Mp4 format and I am not too fond of quicktime just to run that format. The reason I am trying to convert them is to kill the file size and make "nolstalgia" DvD for the family. the Mp4 plays fine however,no sound problems in the original clip.

My video and sound cards are up to date, My video card is a Geforce 8400 GS. Running on a AMD Athlon 64 processor at 2.20 ghz with 1 gb of ddr. Anyone ever had this problem? I tried Divx and Xvid thinking it was a codec problem. boy was I wrong. any suggestions is welcomed.

Bump

Update:This isn't really an update but I found out something weird. My video playback with Wmv,Mpeg,Avi,Asf ETC. is always garbled. No matter if it's online or on the computer the playback audio is garbled. What could be causing this. I uninstalled,re-installed Diamond Xtreme soundcard drivers. I installed DirectX9.0c, I have Divx and Xvid codecs. My sound drivers are up to date. I unhooked the onboard sound and uninstalled sound max after buying the Diamond. A friend told me I should disable the onboard sound entirely but I can't find the option in the bios. My mother board is a "Asus A8x socket 939" board. Any helps please? I am desperate!

Hello, I have a strange problem with my sound settings that has just started since I reinstalled Windows.

Basically Im a dj & I use my pc to stream shows on the internet.
My decks are connected to my Vestax mixer which is connected to the line-in on my soundcard.
Connected to the line-out is my hifi.

When I do my shows I have jingles to play etc which I use Media player for. So while Im streaming (with shoutcast) I open a jingle in Mediaplayer & that goes out over the stream aswell as the audio coming from my decks. through line-in

Now since my reinstallation the problem Im having is I cant get the audio from Media Player to go out at the same time as my music from my decks.

Ive fiddled with the audio properties in Windows etc (which Ive never had to do before) and I cant get it working how it was before :
I dont understand whats chnaged since my reinstall.
Any ideas anyone?

If its any help I have an Realteck AC 97 onboard soundcard.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Depends on the audio chipset used. The option you are wanting is referred to as "Stereo Mix" or "What You Hear". Look in the Audio settings for a similar option. Note that it's not supported by all chipsets or drivers.

My computer seems to recently have developed a problem processing sounds, ONLY when I play a CD or DVD. CDs play far too slow. DVDs sound unbearably choppy & garbled. I tried rolling back my Realtek driver (didn't help,) then I downloaded a newer driver (didn't help.) Considering that all other sounds work just fine, I suspect the problem's with my CD/DVD player. I looked for a newer version of a driver for that, but there doesn't appear to be one. (I'm still able to burn data CDs with no problems. I haven't tried burning a music CD for a few months now, but wasn't having problems with that when I last tried, anyway.)
Although I'm suspecting there's a software-type answer to my question, I was wondering if a build up of dust in the unit might cause a problem like this, too. (I live in a VERY dusty neighborhood.)

Okay. So, im completly clueless here.
I came home last night and turned on my computer, but for some reason it had no sound. I tried playing around with the volume control, and managed to somehow turn on the headphones. Using Realtek HD audio manager, i managed to switch jacks in order to use my speakers. But the sound quality is horrible and my ears are screaming in my head.

I don't understand where the problem begins and where it ends, since i didn't touch anything that could have sparked it and it worked fine before i left. I tried updating codecs, but nothing. Also tried system restore on the computer figuring it may have something to do with the system itself, but it didn't work, just keeps going on and on with that message "Restore incomplete".

Am using a Windows XP-32bit system,
Model DG31PR Motherboard,
Version 5.10.0.5672 Realtek Audio codec (ALC888)

If im missing anything out here, please let me know.

As of recently, I have noticed my sound will randomly just stop. There's first a brief half-second of a static-like crackling and then a few "pop" noises. It will then stay muted for anywhere between a few seconds to several minutes. However, using my Creative software (either Creative Console Launcher's mode switcher or Creative Audio Control Panel) to change the "sound mode" will instantly fix the issue.

I first noticed this occassionally happening when I would use the Metro game app "Flow Free" and didn't have any music playing in the background, so I figured it was a bug with the app. Now I'm noticing it when just doing anything on my desktop. The sound completely glitches up, exiting Winamp (what I use for music) does not fix the issue, and opening Windows Audio Mixer shows that there is sound coming from winamp, even after I've exited it.

For clarification, I am using Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer with PCI interface and using its Windows 8 driver.

A:Sound issues

Do you happen to have the on-board (integrated) audio also enabled? If you do that can cause conflicts and problems. It may not be your problem, but if you left it enabled when you installed the SoundBlaster, disable it in the BIOS and see if it makes a difference.

Hi, I'd like to inform you that hardware drivers are provided by hardware manufacturer including those drivers shipped with Windows 7 and device drivers from Windows Update. As a result, to resolve this kind of driver issue, you can contact with HP and see if they have compatible driver for Windows 7 in their support site:

So far I have:

mucked around with the sound quality in playback devices and the Realtek sound manager.

Try changing the codec to A52 in settings. I'm not familiar with VLC's settings in Windows, but this is what it looks like in OS X:

Hopefully it's the same, and hopefully the A52 codec would keep it set to your 5 channels (I think A52 can do up to 6 channels, not sure).

i posted this in the gaming forum because it was initially a problem with ventrilo, after i made the post i found out i am having the same problem with internet applications

Last night everything was working fine, but my sound card prompted me for a driver update, naturally i followed through and let it fully update overnight. When i booted back up today i logged onto ventrilo and every sound coming out of vent, including the .wav files that play when you log on and off and change servers, have a staticy robotlike sound to them. I assumed it was just ventrilo because winamp is playing music perfectly through my speakers without any problems at all.

SO i posted in the gaming forum, but then i opened up firefox and went to watch a few flash videos and they were doing the same thing, curious i tried a few other things, myspace music profile player is doing the same, and a lot of other things too so im assuming its something to do with my sound card drivers...

i plugged my headset in with ventrilo and after changing my default input and output settings it worked just perfectly, but i dont want to have to put in my headset every time i want to watch a video or something :\

if anyone has any suggestions please help, this is ticking me off, or if anything a way to uninstall the drivers because everything was working fine before i updated drivers

Brand new Omen that I use to dj. I am having continual sound drops while running virtual dj 8 through a rane 64 mixer. I have used this same system with a different laptop for years running windows 7 without ever having an issue. Any suggestions of where i am having a glitch would be appreciated. I have unistalled and reinstalled the software and drivers a few times. To add context I have run the computer through my mobile system at home with an external sound card with no issues. The issue in my mind stems from the combination of the Rane 64 mixer, Virtual DJ 8, and Windows 10.

Thank you for the additional information, @rekdj?.  Here are the system requirements for Virtual dj 8.  Your Omen is far more powerful than the Recommended Hardware requirements.  The one major difference that I can see is, you were running the program in Win 7 and now are running it in Win 10. While the specs say that it will run in Win 10, I wonder if you tried running it in Compatibility Mode if it would make a difference.  These two OS's are very different. If this doesn't help, I suggest using the link I provided to get help from the developer.  There may be an update for the app. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

OK - 2 sound issues - the sound icon at lower right no longer functions on left-click, only right-click. I can change the sound via keyboard slider, but this doesn't actually alter the volume. I have noticed the mouse does change the apparent volume (on screen, not actual volume, but only when hovering over the on-screen slider). Why sound would work for one song, then not work for the next song I don't know.

When I go into playback properties and try to "test speaker" it says it's in use by another application, but there is no application using it. Task Manager doesn't show any likely programs and there's no sound playing. I quit Windows Media Player and all that's open is chrome and some windows

I'm seriously getting pissed of by this new Windows. It's like they deliberately removed functionality, or they added new stuff which ****ed things up. How can MS programmers be so bad?

Hi, I was recently bought a computer (HP Pavilion w5151.uk) which is an excellent machine, it came with no O.S so i have installed XP home edition and put all the relevent drivers on the system, however i cannot seem to get any audio, after installing the realtek HD driver for it, it seemed to have sound for a fraction of a second, but i can now no longer get even that!

i have now exhausted my know how when it comes to it all, and would like to know if anyone on here can help me?

if you need more information about what i have in my system, let me know as i am not sure what to really provide. I have read that updating to sp3 will most likely fix this, however according to hp's website, there is a serious flaw with doing so which i would rather avoid!

I have tried to install Microsofts UAA driver but that wont even finish so thats a bust. I have asked elsewhere but only got seriously non helpfull replys.

The motherboard that comes with this computer seems to be strange in that it has the same number as a few others which have different components, so i cant seem to get a propper chipset driver or any other drivers that relate specificaly to this board. the board is an Asus PTGD-LA (puffer 2) or at least thats what Everest tells me. however asus do not have anything on thier site for it and HP have only basic drivers for sound, which is NOT the HD sound at all, just the generic ac97, which i installed at first thinking it was the right drivers before poking a l... On older HP models the microsoft uaa driver needed installing first before any sound drivers so try uninstalling the sound drivers reboot the pc then install microsoft uaa driver and re-install the sound driver. On the site link below under original drivers there is the ati chipset driver which should be installed first before any other drivers.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...ct=502347#N1992

About two weeks ago I built a computer. It was put together perfectly with no problems to deal with up until now. My sound has been giving me trouble recently. I think I've got it narrowed down to drivers, but I'm having trouble actually installing them. But anyways, heres the story.

If I have any program that outputs sound (i.e. WMP, online radio, video game, etc) and start up Ventrilo (online voice chat program) two things happen. The first is that ventrilo tells me my sound input device is in use by another program (hard to believe when nothing I ever have up requires a mic except ventrilo) and then I get a windows bubble popup saying my USB bandwidth has been exceeded. I go into the bandwidth to see what's hogging it all and I see a USB composite device eating 61% of the bandwidth. I have 2 USB devices connected to my computer, those two being my logitech USB headset and a keyboard/mouse receiver. Those 2 are recognized under their respective names, however the device using 61% is simply called "PnP device". In a hopeless attempt to figure out what it was, I disconnected all USB devices and plugged in a different keyboard, yet the PnP device was still showing up as 61%. So I went and tried to download another driver for my ASUS M2N-SLI mobo (soundmax to be specific) and when running the .exe for that I get an error message saying an HDA driver is missing and is needed to install soundmax. From that point on I gave up in attempts to fix it as I ke... Read more

I just upgraded my ram tonight. I inserted it not all the way in so my PC din't boot... I realized this and pushed the 2 Ram sticks in properly. Then windows Showed I had 16 gigs ( as expected) But my windows said reboot required. So I rebooted and now I have no sound... I made sure my devices were not muted and that my default device was my speakers, Still no sound.

I'm on a asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.

I tried reinstalling the drivers and checked in my PC to make sure that I dint accidently unplug anything ect. Any ideas why my sound suddenly isn't working overnight? I know this is vague but it's weird as heck.

P.S I just plugged in my Earphones and the front panel seems to work. So I was thinking maybe my speakers are dead? but they worked on my friends laptop... Also my microphone is plugged at the rear panel and it's detected as plugged but it's not detecting my speakers.

Okay here's the deal, I've been having sound issues lately.. specifically.. static and laggyness/choppyness when scrolling down very slowly on web pages, even switching between web and images on the google search site. I just formatted my computer today and it seemed to solve the problem... but a while later it came back.. I also tried pulling my graphics card ( nvidia 8600gts ) out and using my integrated gfx card.. and i think it solved the problem.. but once i put the card back in the issues came back.. I'm not entirely sure that the problem lies with my graphics card.. because the only issues i'm getting is with my sound.. soo.. unless anyone wants to prove otherwise.. that's where I'm at.

The second place where this happens.. is when playing COD4.. I get into a server with about 11 - 30 fps... and when i pick a team and get into the first person view.. it stays at 30 and even drops below that when i start moving around and shooting etc... what i get in game is choppy video and choppy sound..

My system specs are:

vista home premium 32 bit
1.8ghz core 2 duo
2048mb ram
nvidia 8600gts

DXdiag is included

i have a sound recoroding of when i scroll down a page and the sound getting all weird.. but this forum doesn't allow WMA files to uploaded i guess unless oundone knows how to do it, i think it might help

I have a HP Pavilion dv1000 and it has this issue that every now and then the hard drive reverts to PIO. When I uninstall the drive in the device manager, it reinstalls at boot and runs in UDMA 5. The thing is that when it runs in PIO, the sound becomes garbled, things load slower, etc. However, for someone reason, when I reinstalled the HD via boot, it began running in UDMA 5, but the computer started making sounds I've never heard before. One sound that it makes continuously is a crackling that you would hear as if rain was falling on the roof of your home. The other sound it makes is a ring that stays at one pitch and sometimes goes away only to come back a minute later. I don't know if the hard drive is involved but I suspect it because this only started happening the initial boot after reinstalling the hard drive. How can I find out whats causing this annoying sound..

Open the side cover and use a long straw to check what is making the noise.
A device reverts to pio mode when windows detects errors on the device. I would test the drive with the drive maker's utility for checking the drive. You download this from whoever made the drive; ie WD, Maxtor, Seagate, etc.

Alright I was wondering if anyone here might have an idea about what is going on with my computer. My sound has been distorted when I play music. It sounds like the bass is muffled, (not playing clearly). I am using a Audigy Sound Blaster 2 card. I tried going to Creative labs forums but that was pointless. I have uninstalled it numerous times, moved pci slots, updated drivers, and adjusted settings in the program. After all that I decided to disable and install my on board sound card. My mobo is an A8N Sli Deluxe board. I did that but it still sounds distorted. I have no idea what it could be. Does anyone have any ideas if there is something wrong with my motherboard or what? I used to have the card installed on another computer and it sounded fine, it was installed on this one for awhile and worked one day until one day I noticed it sounding different.
Thanks,
Jeremy

What kind of speakers do you have? It is possible that the problem is there, or with the connections to the speakers or subwoofer. I think I understood from the post that the sound is bad with both the audigy and the onboard sound? If so, that would tend to eliminate the sound card. It could be a mobo going bad, as you say, but I would also check for outside interference from another electrical device (laser printer, monitor, etc)

Hi. I've been getting various sound issues recently. I would turn on the laptop but there would be no sound. Found a temporary fix on the Internet which was to disable and enable the sound driver in the device manager. I used to get by just fine using this fix until about a couple of days ago Windows requested to restart due to a hardware change. I restarted the system and upon loading the desktop Windows requested to install the IDT driver. I let it install and everything seemed fine until another restart when I noticed the sound quality had somewat degraded and the vloume was not as loud as it used to be. Checked in the system tray and the beats audio control panel icon was gone. Searched for it on the laptop and found a file saying beats audio panel but whenever I try to launch it, it comes up with an error saying cannot find .startup file. I've tried system restores and other fixes but to no avail. Plus I can't seem to find the sound drivers on the hp website. Please help ASAP. Thanks.
