Sound issues with discord.

Q: Sound issues with discord.

I use the application discord to communicate with friends and for some reason my sound from my computer like youtube videos plays through discord. For whatever reason however this was not the case yesterday when i was at my families house. I had been there for months and had no problems but after coming back to my apartment the sounds start going through and i cant think of why. I am using the same computer and same setup only with an aditional monitor. any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Preferred Solution: Sound issues with discord.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My problem is as follows.

I want to play Tabletop audio which is a soundboard like website.
The issue is that it needs to be real-time action when the I press the button it needs to respond.
The audio should be fed to Discord which is an application like skype.
Also, I don't want feedback when I speak because, with some virtual cables and CheVolume, I managed to feed the audio from the browser to Discord, but when I speak there is an echo.
I used two accounts, one for me as a speaker and one as a bot sort of thing to play the tabletop audio sounds.

We are playing DnD so its important for it to be real-time and tabletop audio is really great for the soundboard.

I have a Blue Yeti Microphone, and it's quality only shows through within recording programs such as Audacity. How come my microphone quality is not the same standard when I talk on Skype, Discord and TeamSpeak? I have the settings modified for these programs so that it is at optimal settings, but the general quality of the microphone isn't heard. Although there is a difference between the quality of the Blue Yeti and my previous microphones, it sounds completely different from recording programs AND how it should sound as a high end microphone.

A:Sound Quality On Skype/Discord (Voice chat systems)

Quality relies on the amount of data throughput. Most chat programs place a priority on speed (ie: low latency) as opposed to quality, so the amount of data used for the audio stream are reduced.

As you noted, the quality of the mic is noticeable over your previous mic. So the mic quality isn't wasted.

Over the past few months I've periodically been hounded to try either Kik or Discord as a secondary means of communication between my online friends. However no offense to them intended, but I just don't trust anyone enough to use anything I thought was similar to Skype or social media. After finally researching them though I actually can't find anything wrong with. Apparently Discord is DDOS proof & Kik doesn't expose any personally identifiable information either, claiming to be a very secure messaging app. Although I know malicious attachments embedded within pics, videos or links could possibly be sent with either, here are my questions about that & more.

1: Is Discord or Kik really DDOS proof & how exactly do they go about hiding your IP when Skype still doesn't?

2: Is there a setting within Discord or Kik to automatically block images, videos, links or any other specified attachment yet still use the text & voice chat?

3: Are there any other security & privacy vulnerabilities with either app that I should be aware of before using?

A:Kik VS Discord Or Neither?

Discord has pretty poor stability and its application is literally a Chromium frame of the web client with a few extra features. Plus it isn't 100% end-to-end encrypted - servers are also just centralised, not actual servers that you install to your computer, which brings confusion. I really dislike Discord as a platform, it will disappear in some years just like every other proprietary trendy IM/VoIP service has done so. I have to use it because everyone I know is way too stubborn to try IRC or XMPP. Cannot say anything for Kik.

Here is my issue: I use the desktop app for Discord primarily. (Yes, I have Win 10, which was not a download but came pre-installed on my laptop.) I haven't had any issues with this until the 28th of April. My comp restarted &, upon trying to load Discord, it said it was installing update 1 of 1. Then it spits out the following error (error is posted below). I tried restarting my comp, but it didn't work. So I uninstalled Discord. But when I went to re-install it, it only got to a certain point & then spit out the same error. So I tried to look online for a solution. I found a video which I followed to delete the localapp folder & stop all the Discords through task manager. I did everything the video said to do except restart Discord because I couldn't. I couldn't even reinstall it. One site told me to pause my antivirus, which is keeping it from updating it said, but I don't know how to do that. So a friend of mine got on TeamViewer with me & tried to fix it. He ended up having to ask his tech support friend & they went through a series of steps to wipe Discord out completely & reinstall it. It worked great!... Until today. My comp decided to restart sometime today. When I loaded up Discord it said it was installing update 1 of 1. I thought 'Oh, no, not again,' but it went through & then said it was installing more updates (9 in total this time, not counting the 1). That went through but then said installing upda... Read more

Heyyo!

So i have recently been having a load of problems with audio in my discord. I am using a behringer soundcard, that i am both using for audio in and audio out.

So the wierd thing with this is that when i have restarted my PC, i go in to discord (and my audio settings) and see audio input from the "Line in" from the behringer soundcard. So, now discord is using the audio device and also blocks all the other sound out. I can't for say listen to music on soundcloud or watch youtube. It has basically taken control over the soundcard completely, and it is first until i go into the task manager and kill discord completely and restart say youtube, that i get audio output from my computer.

And the same with the opposite. When i start up without discord automatically starting, audio is coming out from my pc, but when i then start discord and try to check if audio is coming in from my mic and such, nothing is there. Now discord does not have access to the device.

Honestly, there is many repeating occasions in this so i apologize if i have put it any wrong, but i hope you people understand me here!

Worth notating is that i produce music with Fruity Loops 20, in which i have selected "BEHRINGER USB AUDIO" as my main audio device. I can then in the software use the two audio inputs it offers to record say a guitar or a microphone. Same as how i have used my mic to record, i use it in discord.

The main reason for that soundcard being bought was for the ... Read more

Hello,

Today my computer blue screened 6 times today. I've had no blue screens since I built my PC more than a year ago (not a single one). But recently its been causing major issues.

Some of the blue screens occurred whilst i had the League of Legends Client, Discord and Chrome open. Some occurred whilst the only thing i had open were Discord and Google Chrome (only tab was Twitch.tv).

All of my drivers are updated: Sound Drivers, Network Drivers, Graphics Drivers, System Drivers, Mouse and Keyboard. (Checked in Device Manager)

I ran a registry check and cleaned all registry errors.
I ran an anti-virus scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I ran an anti-malware scan. (computer is completely clean.)
I then uninstalled malware-bytes.
I ran a memory test (No Errors)
I ran a "sfc /scannow" in cmd.exe. (No integrity violations)

After all of those, it still blue screened.

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M92 or G1U3306 as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

Hey all,

This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows, could windows be preventing my audio card from working?

Thanks,

The speakers are the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 PC set, and I have tried two different sets of headphones, plus the sound is full of static and buzzing. I've also tried re-installing/updating my onboard sound driver, but that doesn't help. I do notice that when I connect my headphones to the speakers that the sound emitted from the speaker will lower by 25% but will not fully cut off. I'm also having issues with the front panel headphone jack on my computer case (Antec 1200 V3). The sound coming out of the headphones when connected to the front panel is filled with static and buzzing. I have tried re-grounding the front panel ground connector, but that didn't change anything. However, if I connect the headphones directly to the back of the computer, the sound works fine.

2)When watching Youtube videos each video has a hard time buffering. My speed is at 10 Mbps and it registers at that speed when I do a speedtest, plus all other websites work fine, it's just Youtube that I'm having a problem with. I've cleared the cache and tried using a different browser, but nothing helps.

I have also ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, neither yielded any harmful results.

I'm not sure if this is all part of the same problem but there are multiple things going on. On my laptop ( its an HP Pavilion DV6, with an intel core i3 CPU @ 2.20ghz, & 64 but operating system ) The only way i can get any sound to play is if I watch videos in my firefox browser. No sound will play when i use Chrome (which I prefer) or Itunes, or windows media player. The problem with watching videos in firefox is that there is about a 20 second delay before the video will play, and an error comes up to stop the plug in or continue. If you close out of that box the video will play but you will get the same delay every time it is paused and started again. Browsing in Chrome and playing videos from that browser there is absolutely no lag, its lightening fast, but you will not get any sound. Other simple programs ( Like solitaire) have the same lag, each card you click takes about 20 seconds for the move to actually take place. I've tried messing with my sound drivers to correct the audio issues but I am not sure if it is an audio issue, a flash player issue, or a combination. Any input?

I've seen this happen with the games I play recently. For example, in games like Battlefield 1942 and Black and White 2, some places showed "straight lines" from objects. At the top of the 3d static object in question, the straight lines go from there to the sky. There seems to be no end to that unless I get really close to that object.

As for the sound problem, I'm hearing static occur at random occasions. Any way to fix these?

Ok,Here is the issue with this sound card. First off it's a nice Diamond (great cards) Xtreme Sound 5.1. The problem I have with it is it's affected by certain videos. Youtube it plays fine.....until you go into Full Screen mode, then it's garbled...you can't make it out what anyone is saying during play back in F\S mode. Another problem I have is Encoding videos do the exact same thing!

Last night I downloaded a freeware program that was on my old box called "Panzera mp4 to avi converter 1.3" it's a great program. My Camera uses the Mp4 format and I am not too fond of quicktime just to run that format. The reason I am trying to convert them is to kill the file size and make "nolstalgia" DvD for the family. the Mp4 plays fine however,no sound problems in the original clip.

My video and sound cards are up to date, My video card is a Geforce 8400 GS. Running on a AMD Athlon 64 processor at 2.20 ghz with 1 gb of ddr. Anyone ever had this problem? I tried Divx and Xvid thinking it was a codec problem. boy was I wrong. any suggestions is welcomed.

Update:This isn't really an update but I found out something weird. My video playback with Wmv,Mpeg,Avi,Asf ETC. is always garbled. No matter if it's online or on the computer the playback audio is garbled. What could be causing this. I uninstalled,re-installed Diamond Xtreme soundcard drivers. I installed DirectX9.0c, I have Divx and Xvid codecs. My sound drivers are up to date. I unhooked the onboard sound and uninstalled sound max after buying the Diamond. A friend told me I should disable the onboard sound entirely but I can't find the option in the bios. My mother board is a "Asus A8x socket 939" board. Any helps please? I am desperate!

Hello, I have a strange problem with my sound settings that has just started since I reinstalled Windows.

Basically Im a dj & I use my pc to stream shows on the internet.
My decks are connected to my Vestax mixer which is connected to the line-in on my soundcard.
Connected to the line-out is my hifi.

When I do my shows I have jingles to play etc which I use Media player for. So while Im streaming (with shoutcast) I open a jingle in Mediaplayer & that goes out over the stream aswell as the audio coming from my decks. through line-in

Now since my reinstallation the problem Im having is I cant get the audio from Media Player to go out at the same time as my music from my decks.

Ive fiddled with the audio properties in Windows etc (which Ive never had to do before) and I cant get it working how it was before :
I dont understand whats chnaged since my reinstall.
Any ideas anyone?

If its any help I have an Realteck AC 97 onboard soundcard.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

OK, long story short, I'm being forced to build a computer for somebody. Unfortunately, the person buying the parts for me is my dad, who is a close friend of the guy I have to build the computer for. Now, I normally wouldn't mind this, but they're both being unreasonable about it. So I'd like to finish this ASAP.

I've dealt with numerous hardware issues on the thing, and resolved every last one of them by getting a compatible part (my dad is such an idiot). I found that the mobo's sound was dead, so I put my own old (known-good) sound card in there and got a new one for myself. The sound card works perfectly when it's in my machine, but in this new one, it can only play stuff off of CDs and DVDs, as well as files opened in Windows Media Player. I cannot get system sounds to work, and I cannot get sound from the Internet to work. Now, note that this was what was occurring before I reinstalled XP using the same disc.

I've tried:

-Installing the latest Flashplayer
-Installing the latest Direct-X plus reinstalling the drivers that came with the card
-Installing Java (mostly to view Youtube videos)
-Checking if Windows Audio Service is enabled (it is)
-Reinstalling XP only to find that about 20 system files were missing; I replaced as many as I could (about two)
-Spitting upon the image of the world and cursing my terrible luck

Also, those system files. I replaced the dlls that were missing during the second install, but I couldn't... Read more

My problem is that I am hardly getting any volume out of my speakers even with the Volume fully up in both windows and on the speaker controls. This problem developed while playing a game and is now system wide. I thought it might just be the speakers so I hooked up some old ones, however the problem remained. About four days a go my battery died. I took my laptop home, plugged it in, turned it back on, and there was a strange grating sound that was very loud. I turned it off then restarted. Everything seemed fine until I tried to use my audio.... There was absolutely no sound. Not even system sounds works. I checked all of my volume settings, reinstalled my driver from the dell website, all of that, no apparent issues, still no sound. It appears the sound is working, I get no error message, but I hear nothing. And then I plugged in headphones, and realised I could hear sound, but very, very faint. If while watching something for example, someone yells, I can hear they vaguely through the headphones. I am utterly confused as to what this could possibly mean. I have a Dell Latitude C610. Hello

This is probably another thread that says "I have a sound problem." But I think my problem differs from other people who's having problem.

Okay, here it goes. I clearly remember what I did on my laptop. I was deleting unimportant files and after that I went disk cleaning on my :D drive. After awhile I hopped on to a game and then i realise that there was no sound playing from my speakers. Nope it's not hardware problems because I was just playing some music on my iTunes before I even touch the disk clean-up manager. Tried the device manager and I tried to roll back the changes. It wouldn't work. I tried downloading the SndVol32.exe file and I extracted in the System32 folder but to no avail. I can't hear a thing from the speakers.

Well, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me asap. Thank you :)

However when running the speaker test in Valve's Source engine i'm getting all the sounds coming from all the speakers if at varying volumes. Even when i mute all the speakers apart from say back left i can hear "front left, centre, front right..." and so on all coming from my rear left speaker.

EDIT: In VLC i get the full surround effect sounds only coming from their correct speakers when running a Dolby Digital Speaker test video thing, however in MPC it only uses's front left, front right and centre.

Any ideas how to solve this short of buying a better sound card?

The computer I have had on board sound but it began to act up. It started to not work and occasionally come back through. Then Completely stopped. I thought maybe the speakers. So I bought new speakers. The sound worked for another short period like a day and then stopped working. I checked the speakers on another PC and they still worked. But they do not work on this one.

I figured it was a sound card issue so I added a Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Loaded everything properly through its CD and it still doesnt work.

I thought maybe a conflict with the onboard sound so I went to BIOS and disabled the onboard card. Still nothing.

When I go to the control panel and sounds to look at this device. It says working properly. It says it is there. I the speakers pop on when I start the computer.

I have power to the speakers. They are plugged into the right jack on the pc. They have the small pop on start up you can hear when the pc turns on. The sound control panel is not on mute.

Under Device volume in the control panel it does say device volume is low all the way to the left but this is all shadded to where I can not change that. Also says device is enabled.

I am at a loss what do I do? Please help if you know.

Thanks, Brekkon

2. Make sure youyr speakers are connected correctly and the power is turned on. Do the good ol finger test on the input cord.

If your audio function is not working properly...I would go to Device Manager and uninstall the sound devices...reboot the system and then reinstall the sound drivers. You might try running chkdsk on your C: partition, Running CHKDSK - http://www.1securitycenter.com/windows_xp_faq/chkdsk.html Select both options (Automatically...scan).Reboot the system and let it run to completion, system should reboot when command is complete with task.Louis

When ever I click on my volume control button I get an error that says

There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close.

Ive done this and it just keeps saying that all my devices are working properly.

This is a brand new problem and my sound has always worked fine. I can still hear windows beeps and so often i can hear mp3 and some youtube videos but most of them i cant hear anything.

any help? thanks

Good evening all. I wasn't quite sure where to place this and decided on here due to its link with MSN Messenger. I'm usually quite able to fix any problems that occur by either sheer knowledge of the system or thanks to Google, this has got me completely stumped and Google searches are bringing up a few answers that aren't working.

I have an Advent 5480DVD Laptop that has had its share of issues, but nothing ever serious, just your usual growing pains. Never has the sound been an issue though. But earlier this week I was once again on MSN Messenger 7.0 talking to someone, I had installed Messenger Plus! 3 and was just going through the motions of it, yet I don't believe that to be the cause as the sound was fine even after installing it.

The person I was talking to wanted to start up an audio conversation and which prompted a Setup of the process. I don't have a microphone and, in my haste, just ran through the process and didn't pay much attention, my bad I know, the result though has left me with an Echo effect in anything I do.

That's right, it isn't just locked into Messenger, I closed down 7.0 to see if that would help, the echo was still around, I even uninstalled both MSN 7.0 and Messenger Plus! 3 just to be sure and the echo was still effecting regular Windows sounds and Winamp.

Restarting the computer hasn't helped either, muting the 'microphone' on Volume Control; as I don't really have one to my knowl... Read more

Hi, I'm suddenly having a spot of trouble...
For no obvious(to me at least) reason, my sound does not work for programs like games, and while surfing the web(like homestar or something is mute). However, mediaplayers, dxdiag, and the "adjustment beep" all produce sound. Also, the volume control is no longer in my taskbar, and the buttons on my laptop don't seem to do anything(when I open the sound sutff through controlpanel, pushing buttons on the computer does nothing, but ones on the screen do). I tried a system restore to no avail. The only recent things I've done are install a few codecs, xdiv and the one for mkv, and some innocuous google desktop/firefox plugins.
Ideas?

I have a foxcon am2+ MOTHER with xp pro. The computer has recently decided to have "no audio device" under my device manager. I downloaded the drivers from foxcon to no avail. There is no device listed under manager. When i attempted to do a sysrstr, it will tell me it is unable to do so, no changes have been made. Any suggestions would be great. Below i have included the info that a hardware scan says I have on the MB for audio. Thank you in advance for your help.

Go to Run and type

devmgmt.msc

This will open up Device Manager

Try to uninstall any current Sound Devices.

After rebooting allow Windows to check for the updated drivers.

Also try going to Windows Update and clicking "Custom" rather than "Express" Scan - look through updates available - you may find the hardware update there (optional updates)?

Another route is to find out the exact model of your motherboard.

You should be able to download the correct driver from manufacturer's Site.

If you are having trouble IDing your motherboard try running Belarc

Hello,

For the past few weeks I have been having issues with my sound. I usually use a headset plugged into a USB port. Suddenly the sound would freeze and I would only hear a "Uh Uh" sound play. This would also essentially slow the video I was watching down too. If I unplugged and replugged the headset back in it would fix the issue.

Then it began happening more frequently and on occasion YouTube videos would have no sound whatsoever (even though other sounds would work). Eventually I just removed the headset and began using my monitors built-in speakers. However, they too began to crackles and begin to stutter with the sound.

I used to be of the opinion my headset was the issue, now I'm thinking it might be my sound card. However, dxdiag notes no problems and device manager notes all my sound drivers are working normally. Thoughts?

About two weeks ago I built a computer. It was put together perfectly with no problems to deal with up until now. My sound has been giving me trouble recently. I think I've got it narrowed down to drivers, but I'm having trouble actually installing them. But anyways, heres the story.

If I have any program that outputs sound (i.e. WMP, online radio, video game, etc) and start up Ventrilo (online voice chat program) two things happen. The first is that ventrilo tells me my sound input device is in use by another program (hard to believe when nothing I ever have up requires a mic except ventrilo) and then I get a windows bubble popup saying my USB bandwidth has been exceeded. I go into the bandwidth to see what's hogging it all and I see a USB composite device eating 61% of the bandwidth. I have 2 USB devices connected to my computer, those two being my logitech USB headset and a keyboard/mouse receiver. Those 2 are recognized under their respective names, however the device using 61% is simply called "PnP device". In a hopeless attempt to figure out what it was, I disconnected all USB devices and plugged in a different keyboard, yet the PnP device was still showing up as 61%. So I went and tried to download another driver for my ASUS M2N-SLI mobo (soundmax to be specific) and when running the .exe for that I get an error message saying an HDA driver is missing and is needed to install soundmax. From that point on I gave up in attempts to fix it as I ke... Read more

Hi. I've been getting various sound issues recently. I would turn on the laptop but there would be no sound. Found a temporary fix on the Internet which was to disable and enable the sound driver in the device manager. I used to get by just fine using this fix until about a couple of days ago Windows requested to restart due to a hardware change. I restarted the system and upon loading the desktop Windows requested to install the IDT driver. I let it install and everything seemed fine until another restart when I noticed the sound quality had somewat degraded and the volume was not as loud as it used to be. Checked in the system tray and the beats audio control panel icon was gone. Searched for it on the laptop and found a file saying beats audio panel but whenever I try to launch it, it comes up with an error saying cannot find .startup file. I've tried system restores and other fixes but to no avail. Plus I can't seem to find the sound drivers on the hp website. Please help ASAP. Thanks.

UPDATE: I managed to fix the beats audio control panel issue somehow by looking through the old driver files on the laptop. Found an old sound driver. Installed it ad restarted the laptop and the audio control panel is back and the sound is improved as well. However one issue still persists. When I restarted the laptop the Windows log on sound played perfectly on the log on screen but as soon as I logged into the laptop and the desktop loaded I clicked on the windows sound panel icon to check the sound which I found out was not working. Went to the device manager, disabled and enabled the audio codec thing and the sound's back but it was back after a restart. This I think is the core issue and a permanent solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I purchased a "pre owned" Lite on DVD R/W drive, during playback, the sound seems to stutter (the picture looks fine).

I have this installed as a slave to another regular cd rom drive.

Am I overlooking something here? Any help would be appreciated, because I cant think of anything..

I am having a problem with my sound just recently, I haven't been getting any sound for any games or music files, etc. However, the speaker system DOES work. It has something to do with my software I assume. Here is a picture of the error message I recieve:

A:I need help with sound issues...

Do you normally use Winamp to listen to music, etc?

Maybe try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Or in Winamp, go to Preferences - Output

Highlight over DirectSound output and hit Configure
Make sure the Device is set to the correct soundcard

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling/reinstalling the DirectSound plug-in

Installed RAM 8.00 GB
System type: 64-bit operating system

I have Razer Synapse installed and up to date.

All Drivers are up to date. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled all sound and audio drivers multiple times.
My Issue:
Sound always plays through my speakers whether or not I have headphones plugged in. I have tried multiple different brands and types, but sound always plays through both the headset and speakers simultaneously. I also noticed headphones do not appear in my playback devices. (Yes, I have show disabled devices checked)

Separate but possibly related issue:
Mic's do not work when plugged in. My Tiamat 2.2 Razer headset mic shows up under the recording tab as Line In. The mic does not register any sound when enabled.

If there is any missing necessary info feel free to ask. I will respond.

Hi, Hopefully someone can help? I have no sound from my HP Envy laptop. I have upgraded it from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and it has been running fine without incident but the sound has now gone. I have tried reloading/enabling drivers etc but no luck. I have tried a factory reset but again no luck and i don't have the option to return to 8.1. Does this mean it is a hardware issue and if so how easy or expensive should this be to fix? Thanks.
