Thinkpad Gen 2 Dock ethernet port alone not working - Type 40AS

Q: Thinkpad Gen 2 Dock ethernet port alone not working - Type 40AS

Gen 2 Dock Ethernet Port alone is not working. All the other ports are working - from charging, display, HDMI and usb. Tested this is T490s laptop. When the same laptop connected to normal USB C type dock its working. I have 20 sets of Gen 20 dock which i bought newly and all the dock's ethernet are not working. Thunderbolt port in T490s with the ethernet adapter is working fine. Request to provide a solution for this. I have installed the mentioned drivers in this link - https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/acc500106 .

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

We recently purchased three of these for our team. They do not work with USB-C portable drives or with the Thunderbolt Dock. I first tired these with a 40A9 dock as CDW stated it was compatible. Since that didn't work, we tested with the Gen 2 docks which Lenovo stated were compatible.  I have tried to reimage the machine, reinstall drivers, tried other cables, laptops, and attempting to change settings in the BIOS like Thunderbolt security. Nothing has worked to allow us to use the docks ethernet. It's just not seen by the system. I have gotten it working sans drivers with the 40AJ docking station. I know this docking station is listed as working with Gen 6 and I can locate plenty of guides on how to configure this machine for the dock.  Any help would be appreciated.

My Onelink Plus dock behaves very strangely, I cannot use the Ethernet port reliably:I bought recently a Thinkpad Yoga 460 ? after my previous Thinkpad ? and an Onelink plus dock. After docking I have to disconnect and reconnect all cables from/to the dock to make the Ethernet work. After that it works great for a period, but sometimes it loses the connection. I have to unplug again all the cables and reconnect them to make it work. To the dock I attached the following: USB keyboard, mouse, external drive, DisplayPort cable (with DP to DVI adapter) and the Ethernet cable. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (ver. 1607) from a clean install. Every device in the Device Manager seems to be OK, even the ThinkPad OneLink Plus Dock Ethernet.I have the latest software and firmware.Lenovo Companion cannot find new updatesI have updated the BIOS to ver 1.46.I have also updated the Onelink plus dock firmware (Version: 2.33.000). Any idea? This way the dock is useless.

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

Hello All, I have set up this combo of devices, and the external monitor flickers on and off sporadically using a DP cable.  I used this with an older monitor and it functioned fine, however I purchased 2 24 inch and it will not work.  Either monitor functions perfectly fine plugged into a different computer so I doubt it is the monitor. My wife is able to use her Dell laptop with my Docking station.. it works fine.  I have updated everything there is to possible update on the X1, Updated everything on the docking station, and downloaded a new .inf file for the monitor.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Both monitors are detected, just flash constantly.

Hi AHJax!

Welcome to our forums community.

Have you tried connecting the external monitors directly to the laptop via HDMI or Thunderbolt-C port to check if it works? Could you send to us the system information on your laptop? Type msinfo on the search box at the bottom left side of your laptop. And also, what is the current driver version and firmware version of the docking station? You can update it via this link: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ps500292.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello,
I have trouble as described in the topic,
I have two most old laptop models, Dell Precision M6300 & Dell Latitude D630.
When laptops is docked to replicator potr dock stations D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) - bigger one model with DVD port,

headphone jack port not working under Windows 10 Pro x64 installed on both laptops.

On M6300 previously was installed Windows 7 Ultimate and on D630 was Windows 8.1.
On Dell  M6300 on Win 7 Ult. headphone jack port worked properly.
On Dell D630 on Win 8.1 I'm not sure due I do not used this on it (more years ago when it was on Win XP headphone jack port worked properly)
So when Ms start delivering updates do Win 10, I did it on doth laptops, everything on both models working fine, but only this headphone jack port in D/APR (PR01X) or D/DOCK (PD01X) wouldn't like to work when I'm dockind Dell M6300 (D630 I docked only
for test if on this one jack port will work or not) but not working too like on M6300.
So loks like drivers whih was made oryginally for Win Vista x64 ale which was workable for Windows 7 64b wouldn't like to work on Windows 10.
Maybe You have some tips what to do with this to press them to work?

The ThinkPad Multiple Monitor Configurations pdf (LINK) says the DVI port  on thinkpad Mini Dock Series 3 only support up to 1920x1200, but I would like to connect the DVI-D port to a external monitor with 2560x1600 resolution.  Will it work?  I am planning to buy a T420 with a discrete Nvidia Optimus video card and a mini dock series 3.  Yes, I can't use the display port because the external monitor only have DVI-D port.  I knew that the DVI-D port is able to support 2560x1600 resolution as long as the video card support it, I don't understand why the DVI-D port on the thinkpad mini dock series 3 can only support  up to 1920x1200 even though the Nvidia Optimus Technology is powful enough. Please share your experience and suggestions.  thanks.

They just do nothing.  I pluged in the network cable to another laptop and it works fine. The device manager does not show any hardware or driver problems. Is there a bios option that must be enabled or any other way to enable it? I need the ethernet connection for my work, please help me.

Hello everyone,  I would like to connect 3 external monitors to Yoga 260. I found out that conection of 3 external displays is feasible. It is associated with turning off the native LCD, whcich is OK for me. I would like to use ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (40A40090XX). The docking station has 2 DP and 1 VGA. The issue is I'd rather use 2 DP from docking station and one DP which is on board Yoga instead of VGA. Is such configuration possible? I would like to figure it out before I will buy the station. I've found document: https://support.lenovo.com/uu/en/documents/pd029622 , but there is nothing on using docking stations' DP and native DP in one configuration, simultaneously. Whether it is because on board DP will be disabled? The alternative is MST (eg. http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/multi-stream-transport-mst-hub.html). Both devices are at a comparable price, and if I had confidence that the docking station will work with onboard DP simultaneously, I would choose it.  Thank you in advance, best regardsM

Since no one has replied, I would like close this discussion.  Still someone might benefit for the information, that: - I have purchased and tested ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock- it works with 3 external monitors using 2 DP from docking station and one mini-DP from Yoga itself- working configuration is as follows: 2 displays are connected to OneLink+ Dock with one active DP to DVI converter, one passive DP to DVI converter and the last one (Yogas? port) with active mini-DP to DVI converter- I didn?t try to use for example 2 or 3 passive DP to DVI converters (but I guess that 2 should do the job, but 3 will probably won?t work)- when OneLink+ Dock is attached, the HDMI port in Yoga is not working! (the information one can also find in BIOS, but no materials on-line) Best regards,Maciej

I have purchased Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd generation and have constantly had Fingerprint device problems. The system often did not recognize the device and eventually the device just diappeared in the system.Driver updates and BIOS setting tricks did not work and I could not even see the device in the device manager. So, I searched it on the Lenovo forum and there were several similar cases and apparently simply replacing the Fingerprint device does not always solve the problem. I wrote the problems down when I requested the technical service, and the technician just came with a Fingerprint device. He replaced it but it did not work. And I had to arrange another visit and this time the technician replaced the main board and it fortunately worked, although I had to reinstall all drivers and so on again. I was happy for a while, but the Fingerprinter disappeared again soon.So I requested again the technical service and the technician came and opened up my laptop to replace it. And he realized that he has a wrong Fingerprint device. He just closed the laptop and left. I thought myself okay this could happen.. and stayed for a while without thinking about the Fingerprint device. Later, I requested the replacement again and they answered they cannot replace it and I have to send it in to them which I cannot do soon. And the reason was that they do not replace a part twice - which is contradictory to the last visit of the technician for a second replacement although ... Read more

A week or so ago the display suddenly changed to vertical lines in strange colors. I have determined that the problem is not the cable or the monitor. I changed the DP cable, and the problem remained. When I connect the monitor directly to the mini DP on the T460 it works correctly. This seems to exclude the monitor, the display drivers and the DP driver in the T460 When I connect the monitor to the HDMI connector on the T460 it works correctly. This seems to exclude the monitor, the display drivers and the HDMI driver in the T460. When I connect the monitor to the HDMI connector on the Ultra Dock it works correctly most of the time, but I see occasional flashed of the vertical lines. When I tried a replacement Ultra Dock with the DP connector, the problem remained, but the connection between the T460 and the Ultra Dock was not secure. I returned the second Ultra Dock. All this seems to point to something in the T460 after the DP hardware but before the connector to the Ultra Dock.  Has anyone else seen this problem?

Hi all, In the past few days my laptop slowly degraded, starting with docking station connectivity not working (but does work with other laptops), then HDMI port not working (HDMI screen and cable works with other laptops), and now system no longer charges. Current status is that all USB-C ports (including charge) and HDMI port and not functioning. Computer doesn't charge when it is off, too.  I've looked at multiple solutions and threads on this website without any real solution. I've already tried - - run Lenovo Vantage a few times to check updates. Did the same on the Lenovo product website (using auto-discovery of serial #), everything is fully updated- Turned on/off Thunderbolt Service (on the Windows 10 control panel) - I turned it on and automatic but it always returns to Manual- Searched in the Device Manager for Thunderbolt (anything) - it's not there- Uninstalled and re-installed Thunderbolt software from the Lenovo website (both controller driver and FW, file names n1nta05w.exe and n1nth08w.exe)- Went to the BIOS/Configuration - enabled and disabled again all Thunderbolt related options - Used Paperclip to do hard reset using the emergency reset button Any ideas what left to be done?  Thanks!

I have a W540 and ultra dock, have been using it with a U2713HM and sometimes also a U2412 on the dock's displayport outs, no problem. I just bought a 2nd U2713H (2nd hand - I wanted them to match, thoughHM and H models are subtly different), and for the life of me I CANNOT get the new monitor to work with either DP output on the ultra dock...  (just by itself, using either port output and either of 2 cables I have... while the original 2713HM works either display port out with either cable) basically windows shows a 2nd monitor is attached, and at the right resulution... and the monotor shows that it knows it's plugged in, but claims it's not being sent any video. so it's just black... But I did get it to work via DVI cable out of the dock(though at limited resolution) And I did get it to work with the miniDP out on my actual W540 using an old mini DP to DP connector (while also using the dock's displayport out with my other U2713.Can someone let me know what on earth is going on?? While it's releiving to at least be able to see my new monitor running alongside the old one for 2 x 2560x1440, I need that port on my laptop free for other purposes (it's a DP/thunderbolt port and I use it for thunderbolt too!) so I need this fixed or I have wasted money buying a 2nd monitor..

Hi everyone, I have a Thinkpad p52s hooked up to a newly bought ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 135W (40AN0135US). I recently also purched a second external monitor, and want to operate them through the dock now (with laptop closed)Both monitors are Dell U2518D, and they have a resolution of 2560 x 1440. However, the moment I plug in both monitors, one will only be available at a resolution of 1920 x 1080. What I've tried so far:updated Windows 10updated all p52s driversswitched cables from HDMI to mDPtried all four monitor plugs in the docktried another U2518D monitor (we have more at the office)My laptop screen is only HD so I can't compare it, but when I open the lid I simply have one more HD screen To no avail. One of the screens will always go back to a generic HD display with 30Hz. I'm no expert but I was convinced this shouldn't be a problem with the laptop and the dock? I have the Intel UHD Graphics 620 driver version 26.20.100.6951 installed. I don't know why nVidia does not have any settings about the monitors but again, I'm no expert, and I didn't find anyone else having the same problem. I attached screenshot to show how this monitor is being displayed.

Not able to get two monitors (Samsung S27E450) plugged into a ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 docking unit to work with my X1 Yoga (Gen 2).   Montiors connected to docking via DisplayPort cables.   Windows 10 shows the monitors showing up as "Generic PnP" so something is being recognized.  Tried deleting the device in Device Manager, reboot.  Not finding the drivers on the Samsung site.   Any help appreciated.

Hey guys, sorry my first post has to be a question, but by reading through I feel like I have come to the right place. First off I have a basic understanding of computers, (I get some of the common sense stuff) so please keep this in mind. We have 4 Emachines desktops running Windows 7. 3 of the 4 use a Cisco wireless adapter USB to get on internet through our Netgear router. Sorry if I'm using the names like I'm advertising for them, just don't know how much difference knowing brand to brand makes. Anyways one of the desktops USB just stopped working, it showed up in the device manager when you would plug something in but it could not read off of it. I tried multiple portable drives and it the USB wifi adapter quit working. After a few hours I somehow figured out that if I brought the desktop and plugged it into a ethernet cable it would get online. I then performed a Windows update and it fixed the USB's. It done that twice over the period of a week. Both times a updat fixed the problem. I say all that to say Sunday, the one computer that is hardwired to the router by Ethernet cable quit working. The difference is the USB's all work fine, but I believe there is something wrong with the Ethernet port. Basically the same scenario one day its fine next it's not. I've check for updates but it say there is none. I have changed ethernet cable between them, tried swapping port with the cable. Also I swapped other computers to the same ports, they got on... Hi,

I have one of these motherboards GA-890FXA-UD5 in my main PC. And one of the Ethernet ports will no longer connect to the router. It was working fine the other day so I'm not sure what?s happened. The port that will not connect to the router is still flashing orange and green once a cable is connected to it, so does this mean that it?s still functioning okay? If I swap the cable over to the other Ethernet port on the board it connects straight away.
Any ideas?
Thanks

A:Ethernet Port Not Working

does sound a little strange. do u have diag in bios for ethernet, that can tell u simple things like cable length and other details.

very easy try a live CD (easiest is ubuntu) see if u get a IP and all the reset. its gd that u have a light on the port (or on ur switch/router on other end when plugged in)
