I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Are you playing the games on host or in vmware player?

If host:

I had problems with strange performance and network slowness issues before caused by vmware player.
If you want to increase performance and see if disabling the network adapters solves the issue, see here:

Not a program, but great for people using vmware player...

Also make sure you have the latest version of vmware player:

I keep getting an IP Address Conflict on my network due to my laptop having the wifi card and 2 VMware connections that keep getting assigned an IP. I have tried to manually delete these VM connections but when I try it tells me it can not delete this connection. How can I remove these VMware Connections?

I know I could just manually assign an IP address to my wireless card, but that is to difficult as the IP for my home network is not in the "acceptable range" as my work network.

Well after hours of googling -- I found that If I opened up device manager, and clicked uninstall on the network adapter for the 2 VMware in question, it would remove them.

I want to connect several VM's mainly Cisco router to same network adapter (vmnet1 host-only network adapter) and want to pass multiple VLAN's as Tagged. I am able to achieve this requirement through bridged network adapter but unable to do so through host-only
adapter. I am using Windows 7 as main OS and VMware Workstation 11.
I have gone through several tech forums but unable to find answer for it. Though in multiple forums one statement was common that Windows will strip the VLAN information when packet received/transmits through network adapter.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

I recently (abt 3 months ago) bought a new PC. A fairly cheap one i use to take to lan parties etc but recently the network adapter just disappeared completely.

Now I've posted this one numerous forums yet no one could provide a solution.

What I've tried :
*Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers
*fiddled around with every software related to the adapter
*updated Bios to F6 (which seems to have been the solution only to find that my network adapter is back on device manager but i couldn't connect to any network using ethernet at all)
*formatted and reinstalling the drivers again.

So i'm taking the MB back on friday but i'd like to avoid it if there's a solution.

It's a gigabyte g41m-es2l. fairly cheap one with a 3 year warranty.

But if some one had a similar problem before and fixed it please lemmi know.

Hello, me again. My PC is connected wireless to my home network with a USB network adapter. I get a max of about 800KB/s downloading. The funny thing is, I plug the same thing into a laptop. It downloads at a max of about 1.4MB/s. Now, I have the software installed on both the PC and the laptop. I tested the download speeds on the same test. And I did it in the exact same spot in the house. I'm thinking and hoping that it's a software problem rather than hardware. Any clues?

Last night we had a severe thunderstorm & I am unsure whether or not my family had the home computer on during that time. Now the internet connection has been lost. it is not our xfinity router because I already reset that & the connection seems to be working fine on other devices. I tried the basic troubleshooting, rebooting, & even resetting the computer. It still says that their is a driver issue with the network adapter. I looked in the device manager however & the driver keeps saying that it is enabled & working normally. any helpful advice? Also, do I need to show the MGA diagnostic report?

I use DELL GXI desktop and I networked 5 systems together yesterday . All installed with WINDOW XP PROFESSIONAL with SP2 . But one of the systems just refused to see the others this morning and I noticed that in the DEVICE MANAGER the modem is marked with yellow (!) sign . Also I noticed that the two networking lights at the back of the system (green and yellow) are both on (instead of only the green as shown in others working). I followed the instruction in the troubleshooter with no success . I reformatted and reloaded the hard disk, I purchased another PCI REALTEK adapter without success. The system refuses to accept the loading of the DRIVERS for the new adapter from diskette instead it continuously configure it with ASOUND 10/100m Based Fast Ethernet Drivers .

Hi, I've been having problems with my wired network adapter. It no longer seems to be operating but my wireless connection still works fine. I plug in the ethernet cable to my laptop and there are no LEDs lit up on either end of the CAT 5 cable receiving plugs. Normally these light up when the ethernet is active. I believe that I've isolated the problem to my computer rather than the router or ethernet cord because I've attached the ethernet cord to a different (Mac) laptop and had an active connection. I've also tried to bypass the wifi router and connect the ethernet cord directly from the the cable modem to the computer and that didn't make any difference.

So far, I've tried the repair option on the wired network adaptor and it has instructed me to plug in an ethernet cord which is already plugged in, and that didn't make any difference. I've reinstalled the network adapter and that didn't make any difference. I've also reset the tcp/ip stack and no difference.

The details on my setup:
1. wired connection doesn't work. Wireless does
2. ISP: comcast
3. Type of broadband: Cable
4. Modem: Arris Surfboard SB6121, Wifi Router: D link Dir 655

I am stumped, and have no idea what to do.

I installed the graphics and audio drivers from the HP website and they work great now, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with the network adapter driver. Motherboard: Access Denied

Yesterday, my motherboard network adapter stopped working. Shows a red "X" in the system tray like when the cable is disconnected. Unfortunately I don't have any system restore points to go back to - I had disabled it due to disk space issues. The day before (the 19th), my system tray network icon had showed the yellow triangle for poor connectivity but I had not had any issues actually browsing the internet - not sure if it was an omen but thought I'd mention it if the information helps. I had installed some Windows updates on the 19th and I uninstalled all of them to see if they had caused the problem. Nothing else was installed on the 19th. On the 20th I had zero connectivity (red "X").

I have a dual boot system (XP on a second drive) and everything works fine on XP (from where I am posting this). My setup is a cable coming from my modem to a router and then splitting from the router to my wife's and my PC. This has worked fine until yesterday. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the motherboard ethernet adapter and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Still no connection on Windows 7.

I never changed the default network card ever since I bought the pc, and I always used a dongle to use Bluetooth, but now I recently found out that my networkcard also has bluetooth. So, to my understanding, I shouldn't need the dongle at all.Although here's the thing. Ever since I bought it I have found no option to turn the bluetooth on, other than the dongle settings of course. And whats even weider (at least to me), that in the adapter settings it is called 'Ethernet 2', as shown here:The second line says: 'Networkcable not connected' Is this how it should be? My device manager shows the PAN Network Adapter, and it says it has drivers installed, so I don't know what I would be doing wrong. Laptop is out of warranty, so sending it to HP is not really an option.

I have had my HP Pavilion dm4 for a year and a half now, and when my school gave me a copy of Windows 7 Enterprise (it came with Win7 Home) I installed it and all the necessary drivers, and everything's been running smoothly - til now.

Tonight all of a sudden my Internet connection showed that it was connected but had "limited connectivity" - aka no Internet. So I restarted my router - no luck. Then I restarted my computer, and my F12 wireless button showed orange - meaning that wireless capability was turned off entirely. It wouldn't turn back on even if I pushed the button, so I went into Control Panel and did some diagnostic thing and it forced the wireless capability back on and it worked again. For about an hour. Then the button went orange again and the diagnostic couldn't turn it back on.

So, I went into wireless connections and disabled and reenabled the actual connection rather than the adapter, and it worked again - for about another hour. When it went off again, the disabling/reenabling didn't help.

I don't think it should be a driver problem seeing as I can make it turn back on for certain periods of time and it's worked fine until now. Does anyone know what to do?

Last night my wireless adapter (Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter) stopped working. In the properties it says it is working properly, however, it will not find a single wireless network to connect to, only the big red X over the icon in the system tray. My wife's laptop which is 5 feet from mine, finds our network as well as several of our neighbors. I upgraded to Windows 7 last month, so this morning I tried updating drivers, installed these but still the big red X. My laptop will work with the ethernet cable plugged in, just not wireless. I am stumped because it says it is working properly in the properties menu and not returning any errors during troubleshooting. I know its not my router, as my xbox, ipod touch, android phone, and wife's laptop can connect and work fine. Since she and I have the same laptop, I made sure that our properties settings were the same this morning as well, and they match up. Any ideas?

Hi,

I reformatted my father's laptop, upgrading the OS from Vista to Windows 7 but now the wireless network adapter isn't working. Basically, the laptop doesn't know that it has wireless.

In device manager there is an exclamation mark against the "Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter" entry. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, restarting the computer, updating the driver etc but it always fails to install the driver correctly.

I don't know for sure the model of the network adapter, (windows tells me it's atheros but I'm not convinced seeing as the driver always fails to install) so I can't go to the manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers. I opened up the laptop but couldn't see any brand names on the network card. I don't have the cd's with the drivers on them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone happens to know or can find out what network card I have so that I can install the latest drivers, or if someone knows why the driver windows has found is not installing properly then please let me know.

I'm currently connected to the Internet via Ethernet cable.

Thanks, James.

Since upgrading to Windows XP Service Pack 2, my network adapter (a 3Com 3C905-TX-M) does not appear in Device Manager and I therefore can't get this computer to appear on my home network. The network adapter is still working because that's how I connect to the Internet, via LAN to a router then cable broadband, and IPCONFIG gives valid results including the correct IP address from the router via DHCP.

Hoping that this might be a glitch, I installed a clean copy of XP Home on a spare hard disk. The network adapter appeared in Device Manager and the computer appeared on the network. I then upgraded to SP2 and the network adapter disappeared from Device Manager and the computer no longer appears on the network.

I have also tried installing a different network adapter - a completely different make and model - with no difference, and forcing XP to install the 3Com drivers using Add New Hardware, getting Error 10, device cannot be started.

Attempting to set up a new network connection gets the result "Cannot complete the Network Setup Wizard - the wizard cannot find your network hardware". Yet it's there and working, otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this request for help.

If anyone knows what's happening and how to fix this problem I would be extremely grateful for your assistance. Thank you in anticipation.

Hey I have a laptop that just got given to me and the internet is working through the Ethernet cable but is not through the wifi connection. I know that the router is working (I have my phone hooked up) I checked the drivers and updated them, uninstalled the adapter and let it be put back on its self. I have rolled back the drivers and updated it. I have tried a system restore point also. The laptop has connected to the internet through wifi before.. Still a red "X". I'm getting a little irritated

Hello all,
I'm having issues with my Wireless Network Adapter and am hoping you an help me. The other day I went to a friend's house and put my HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop in my bag and when I got back home the light on the front of my computer indicated that my wireless was turned off, however when I flicked the switch so it would turn on the light still indicated that it was off. I have run diagnostics on the wireless adapter several times to no avail. It only brings me to a troubleshooting page and I've tried all the options. I have tried rebooting the computer as well as disabling and enabling all wireless drivers. I have also upgraded all software concerning the adapter, but it still does not work. My computer uses Windows Vista as an operating system.
Please help, I'm utterly lost as to what to do.

Hi me again, I posted on here about 3 months ago after buying a new wireless network adapter that wasn't working and managed to sort it out. But now after getting a new motherboard etc and having to reinstall it, it's having the same problems it had before (Here's the old post - http://forums.techguy.org/networking/957125-wireless-network-adapter-wont-find.html) I tried following the steps in the same way I did before and i've got to the point no where i've restarted my pc after doing the command prompts, but this time Xirrus didn't pick up my wireless adapter or any networks etc. I don't know what to do, can anyone help?

Events I 'believe' occured before problem:Went to bed, my unplugged PC went dead. Woke up, plugged it in, turned it on; no wifi networks available. Only source of internet is tethering, currently. Things I tried:Using DriverTalent (All drivers are perfect), using Troubleshoot problems, restoring PC to an earlier date. Under Network Adapters all I see is: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information, just ask. Thanks!

My laptop won't connect to the internet at all and status shows limited access to router. It was fine a few days ago until a Windows update. I did a system restore on it back to before the windows update and the internet was working just fine but then there was an automatic windows update again and the connection is gone again. When I try to troubleshoot it says the network adapter is not working properly. I'm currently using the main computer in the house. I can't access any network at all on my laptop and I'm nearly in tears. This has happened before about 7 months ago after a windows update. At that time I did a system restore and reinstalled the updates and it worked just fine. This time nothing. I have tried to check for updated drivers for the network adapters but windows says I'm running the recent ones. Please help, I have no idea what to do next. So sad.

P/s I don't have any restore points before the windows update so can't do system restore.

I did an ip config/ all as I have noticed from the other posts this is asked for so I took the iniative. Here are the results.

Hello i am 19 years old so i don't exactly have lots of experience with all this. I am having a problem which i could use help with. Lately i have been using the Microsoft virtual network adapter (im sure heard of it!)
I wrote a small batch file for the purpose of starting the network. (ill copy and paste it in at the bottom) now this program worked perfectly for about a month but now i cant get a device to connect to the network as nothing can obtain an ip address.
What i did to troubleshoot..
1. I changed the ip settings from dhcp to static.
this allowed me to connect to the network but i couldn't access the internet.
2. I checked the properties of the network from the control panel and it
shows that my network is sending packets but is not receiving any. I tried
running windows troubleshooting on the network and it tells me that the
network does not have a valid ip configuration. even though it is set
dhcp.
3. I tried typing the following into cmd "netsh interface ip reset"
in return i get;
"C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface ip reset
Resetting Global, OK!
Resetting Interface, OK!
Resetting Unicast Address, OK!
Resetting Neighbor, OK!
Resetting Path, OK!
Resetting Route, OK!
Resetting , failed.
Access is denied.
Resetting , OK!
Restart the computer to complete this action."
why does it say resetting failed followed by access denied?
i think this is the cause of "failed to obtain ip address prob... Read more

I am going to thank all in advance for any help you can give. I have been working on this now for a few days and am making no progress. I have read through every available forum message I could find, tried most of it and am still at a loss.

A little history:

Vista Home Premium HP 9500 series laptop, internal wireless and ethernet connection. Netgear WGR614v6 Router, Motorola Broadband Modem SB5120. Machine specifc information below.

Wn XP Desktop wired to router - connection perfect
Win XP Old laptop wired to router - connection perfect
Vista laptop wireless to router - connection dropped

Wireless has always functioned perfectly until yesterday. Booted up machine - no wireless connection. I wired the laptop to the router, no connection. I wired the laptop direct to the modem, no connection. It's like someone just turned them off.

I went to the Netgear site and checked the router status, wireless status, etc and everything looks fine. I admit the firmware needs to be updated but with two machines working fine and the laptop functioning fine for the last 11 months, I don't want to do that just yet.

I am pasting information from this machine below per instruction from other posts. If you need further information don't hesitate to ask.

Hello.

I have an Acer Travelmate 5520 notebook that is running Windows Vista Business.

It was able to find and connect to a wireless network just fine. Then I put the machine into hibernation mode and now it won't connect.
Usually I press the button on the front of the laptop to turn wireless on or off, but now the button doesn't do anything.

In device manager, `Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter' does not show up now for some reason under `network adapters'.
This network adapter is also absent from the device manager even if "Show Hidden Devices" is active.

I didn't change anything so it's weird that this problem has now come up.

I've spent the past few hours reading threads and posts online (using a different internet connection) and have not found the solution.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

A:Solved: Wireless Network Adapter not working.

I assume that there is nothing in Device Manager with a warning or error.

Check in the BIOS (Setup) to see if the wireless somehow got disabled in there.

If you can access the wireless card by removing a small cover on the bottom of the notebook remove and carefully and firmly replace the card (to fix any potential corrosion or looseness).

Hi, my brother recently bought a Realtek Wireless Network Adapter to use on an old 98 SE and when straight after it was installed it worked fine but after shutting down the computer it won't work in anything but safe mode.

It just restarts automatically after crashing on boot up. Doesn't get to the desktop.

This network adapter is supposed to work on Windows 98 SE as well. And it is certainly within this old thing's ability to use it. It's actually a pretty good PC, it cost a bomb in it's day!

I tried one of my network adapters and that didn't work either. (Didn't make the PC crash though).

I was wondering if anyone recognises these symptons. Could it be a software conflict? (it's been through a lot of software in it's time. Mostly uninstalled now.)

Thanks, I hope someone can help

Hi

sounds like a bad driver.

its been a while since i used 98 but there was an option to start at a command prompt

type scanreg /sfc and see if it starts up after that.

You may need to start in safe mode and remove the driver and any app that came with the card.

You aren't getting an valid IP from your router because it appears as if you turned off DHCP in your IPv4 settings?

You can just right click the adaptor and choose properties, then scroll down to IPv4 settings, right click and choose properties again, enable DHCP there and save.

Hi,  I've got an Acer Aspire S3-391 running Windows 7 64 bit, and I recently updated my wireless network adapter (Atheros AR5BMD222) to the latest version 10.0.0.274 as recommended by Acer's website.  After updating the driver, I can no longer connect to my home wifi.  When I try to connect, I get the message that no wireless connections are available (even though all my other devices can see the wifi network) and when I diagnose the problem, it says that there might be a problem with the wireless network adapter and that windows couldn't automatically bind the ip stack protocol.  I've tried uninstalling the new driver and reinstalling the old one and running a system restore to before installing the new driver, both with no luck.  When I try to manually configure a wireless connection, I get "an unexpected error ocurred" message.  I have automatic DNS and IP address set, and when I look at my ipconfig IP, DNS, DHCP, etc all have addresses.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
